Hi all.
As stated in the subject, I can't reboot into recovery mode using ROM Manager. I'd like to flash CM. but when I try to reboot into recovery to start backup, wipe, flash, nothing happened. It will just stay in ROM Manager.
Tried downloading different version of CWM from the latest version down to v5.0.0.1 but to no avail.
Read some posts regarding this problem saying that I should download v3 something of CWM but when I try to download older CWM version from RM -> All CWM Recoveries, only 5.0.0.1 is the lowest.
Any idea? I really like to flash CM into my OB. Thanks in advance.
Did you flashed alternative recovery? Is the first option in rom manager. be mindful that you have to be connected to the internet ffirst.

Yes did that. Actually from version 5.2.x.x downgrade to v5.0.0.1 doesn't work for me. RM won't take me to recovery mode. It doesn't do anything after a reboot request.
Please help. Thanks for the reply btw.

Yes. my OB is rooted. got apps working like SetCPU, App2SD, etc...
Try updating the su binary and super user app, or try using supersu. Also, check if rom manager has been granted su access in superuser app.
Try using terminal emulator and the command "reboot recovery"

tried running it in emulator with reboot recovery but it factory resets my phone...

That means you have no recovery installed. Try following a guide in the development section. Just search for it. Install CWM and pray

What about the other suggestions i made? Try checking su and su permissions. And then procceed to flash recovery from rom manager.

Downloaded and run the latest SOClick, but it says the phone is rooted and I clicked yes to continue and stuck at Step # 7. don't know what to do after.
Reboot the phone, ran Gingerbreak, took me 10+mins but I think it's not working anymore so I had to reboot the phone as my boss was screaming at me thru skype why he can't contact me...
I'm lost.
there is no method that works with stock 2.3.4 version, I recommend to look for a patched bin and fls files and flash them with smartflash app. I'm not on my PC right now so maybe tomorrow I'll give you the links, but you can try look for them yourself smart flash is stickied and search for v20o patched bin.
FDN
Try any of these http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480392 They are patched. I have a patched v20Q but my upstream is slow. If you want to patch by yourself, install Linux.
And here is the smart flash tutorial

And there's a superuser.zip on that thread (instructions). just browse a little.

@ re4lsk: I'll try downloading those things after work. can't dl here, firewall too strict. many thanks.
@ gabwerkz: salamat kabayan. I'll try those after work. will post updates tomorrow
I did follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23790405&postcount=171
It was a successful flash not until step 14 & 15. when I tried to Wipe data/factory reset and flash superuser.zip respectively, there's no option of YES in the confirmation page...all options are in No..
what will I do?
-edit-
ok found it. successfully flashed now. rebooting phone..can't wait. many thanks to all!
Hi. I have Android 2.3.6 on my Galaxy Ace. I wanted to root it with upd_1.zip. I used the stock recovery. It said installation complete, so I rebooted. The Superuser icon has appeared in my app drawer so I was very happy that it was successful, but my SuperUser says that I haven't got SU binaries, so I haven't got any root access. I've searched for similar problems, but I didn't find any. What do I do now?

Sorry buddy, never heard of such an issue. I guess you try to Unroot and Root again. U may try xda for some better Root procedure or search my blog www.andro-sapien.blogspot.in.
Do let me know if it is sorted out by Re-Rooting.
pls help
So, I unrooted and rooted and there's the same issue. Original Superuser says - Checking available version failed, so I tried to delete the app data - that didn't work. I updated the Superuser and it says that I doesn't have SU binaries.

or
https://hotfile.com/dl/180452656/3c2538d/gingerbred-2.3.6-root.zip.html
I actually have a similar sounding problem but arrived at it differently.
My phone had been rooted and working OK for over a year. At some point the latest superuser binary stopped functioning with adb wireless.
So I downloaded SuperSU a few months ago and it's different binary fixed that particular issue. So all was working fine until failing to update that binary today. I'm now in the same boat as you but don't have a clue how or why.
This 2 files are the same as my upd_1.zip. The very same. My upd_1.zip has xbin with busybox, su etc. but it doesn't want to be flashed for some reason. The only files in my xbin folder (in the phone) are : busybox, dexdump, although I flashed the other needed binaries. What is this? Is this my phone's fault?
@edit : Can I flash CWM without those binaries?

Yes you can, and then you can try to flash root again.
If not you can flash CF-Root (only for Gingerbread!!) maybe it works :S
1º Flash via recovery CWM
http://www.mediafire.com/download/u331vcwkr36c28n/CF-Root-S5830-v3.7-b84.zip
2º Flash via CWM APP, it'll fix the bootanimation
when your android will boot, go to CWM app (in your drawer) and select "Flash kernel" and select this file
http://dfiles.eu/files/1sfl9qotm
I flashed CWM Recovery, and now when I select install zip from sdcard and select root file, it says error 7 - update aborted.
@edit - I found the AceGingerRoot.zip. Is it legit and can I install it on GT-S5830 (it has different MD5 than upd_1.zip and root.zip).

Is GT-S5830 your device model?
Did you try CF-Root b84?
Have you got enough free internal memory?
if you have Thinkfree installed, try to delete it flashing this file before flashing root file:

The last firmwares haven't enough space in system partition to push correctly root files, I don't know about your rom, I'm using KTM form Spain as base and I've never had a trouble, but if your problem is that your rom is using all the internal memory (system partition) you couldn't push root files, so you can try deleting ThinkFree from the system partition and then try to root your phone...

umm I think, yes... I've read post where people have flashed CWM and then a custom rom, but I wouldn't advise you to do it directly... anyway you can try it if you want and report then what happened
Actually, I'm gonna wait till more people on forum will help me. I don't want to risk so much. I don't know what can I do.

LOL! Well thought out! I wouldn't do it either
if upd_1, acegingeroot, and cf-root didn't work and you want to root your device, the best way is to use Odin and to flash a fresh stock rom which it allows you to flash this files

OK. I'm gonna do that, but can you post me some links with download and instructions for my Ace?
And - if I flash a new ROM with Odin, will my CWM recovery disappear?
Oh, I found my ROM on Samfirmware from Play Mobile (XWKTQ 2.3.6), so there's no point of installing it right? I need just a fine ROM with polish language.
EDIT - I almost forgot - I didn't tried the Delete_thinkdroid.zip thingy. I'm gonna flash it now and post the results.
EDIT 2 - WHAT?! I flashed Delete_thinkdroid.zip and it didn't even deleted it. I still have ThinkFree and it's working! Guess i'm gonna need that new ROM. It seems that my ROM just refuses to use recovery flashing in any way.

CWM will disappear, but you can flash it again after flashing a stock rom so no problem
You can use whatever rom you want, here it is the tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145
This thread will be usefull too, he wants to change his andorid version too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297704
I've seen one or two threads that were in the same vein as this, but no clear resolution. Every time I open SuperSU, I get the message, "The SU binary needs to be updated. Continue?" I select "Continue," and am given the message to install it normally or through TWRP/CWM. If I try through TWRP, the phone restarts into TWRP, but does nothing. If I select "Normal," I get the "Installation failed!" message. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling SuperSU, but that didn't do anything.
In a related problem, I only have root access pretty much immediately after I reboot. Only immediately after I restart the phone can I use apps like WiFi Tether or Titanium.
I'm on stock, rooted 4.1.2. Any help would be great, thanks!

Thanks for responding! Just to clarify, should I follow that readme file’s instructions, even though I’m already rooted and have TWRP? If simply choose “install” in TWRP and select this zip, will I have the option to just install SuperSU, or should I extract one of the following 3 zips in that file first?
SuperSU-v1.41.zip
superuser.zip
Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip
I assume this won’t wipe my phone, but of course, I’ll do a nandroid backup first.
Well, I went into TWRP, went to "install," and selected the whole .zip, but it didn't look like it was going to give me the option to flash just SuperSU.
Agh... I should do this stuff more often so I'm not so clueless each time I need to do stuff in recovery...
SOLVED!
I figured I just needed one of those SuperSU zips found in the file linked above, but first, I decided to first see if there was a more up-to-date version. I wound up downloading the updated version from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
After flashing "UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.41.zip" in TWRP, my root access is much more robust (i.e., not losing root after one app successfully requests access) and I am no longer being prompted to update my binaries!
Thanks again!

TWRP is a recovery not a ROM. If Normal doesn't work, select the other one. Assuming you have a custom recovery (I recommend TWRP for this phone), it should restart into recovery and flash the update there.
Hello, im new here and if you can please answer me on German
My problem is when i start to update SuperSU Binary it is failing on Normal mode and TWRP is happening nothing.
When i rooted first everything was glad, but there was no button to update the Binary and when i used apps like Xmodgames it says, my root is maybe no succesfull, so i rooted again without deinstalling the SuperSU blabla. And now is nothing working, if i go in Root Checker it cant find my root. Pls Help, sry for bad Grammar etc.
still have the problem
I did the flashing of the latest su update zip on my recovery reboit and ny supersu still prompts me to update binary just like before...HELP!!
my samsung galaxy s duos 2 is not updating binary in any modes
what should i do please help me
Is there any other way to update the binary other than through TWRP or CWM. I can't for the life of me find a CWM or TWRP recovery for my Hannspree Titan.
Hey guys, I have a problem here...
I had rooted my tablet and installed SuperSU, I choose the normal mode for binary update but it said it failed. Then I tried in TWRP/CWM but it just restarted my tablet and there it stayed.
When I power it on, it just keeps restarting every 5-7 seconds and it doesn't do anything else.
What should I do?
I'm new to this guys. A quick run down is this.
Downloaded rom manager pro, root explorer, titanium back up and mobile odin pro. Along with the relevant cf root file zip and followed instructions.
Rooted s3 no problem.
Uninstalled and then re installed superSU through play store. No problem.
Through rom manager, made a back up through TWRP.
Flashed the galaxy project onto phone no problem.
Now superSU is saying i need the SU binary installed.
Rom manager can't find any back ups. Root checker is saying that my phone is not rooted which explains why titanium back up isn't able to do anything.
So now i'm thinking lets start fresh...go back to odin and re root. Well Odin CANNOT see my phone in download mode. Only when the phone is in normal operating mode it can be seen which is really weird. When i went into settings to look at <about device> i can no longer see the imei number or whatever it was. Not even sure if thats normal.
So.....What have i done wrong?? and how am i able to salvage this?
Can anyone help??

for your Z1 use Nut's dual recovery, its the best and easy to install and there is lots of instructions available ! you can get the package from nut's website, (http://nut.xperia-files.com/ click XZDualRecovery -> 2.8.20 -> take Z1-lockeddualrecovery2.8.20-RELEASE.installer.zip NOT flashable and download it...
installing SuperSU delete the one you have, you need flashable version wich can be located here https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
then just put it to your sd card and reboot to recovery, from recovery select install zip from sd card, select that supersu file you just put in there and install it, then just reboot and done.
Thank u soo much Migidid bro.....I followed the said procedure and successfully installed dual recivery and supersu, Thanks alot once again, i wanna donate..............love andorid...love sony
