Any way to bring RAW supposrt on Moto G? - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I was wondering if there is any way of bring those extra camera features of Lollipop such as RAW support and manual focus and exposure to Moto G 2014. With unlocked and rooted device can't we install modded device drivers which implement those features or something like that?

That's just what I was thinking.
Our Moto has the same Sony IMX 179 sensor as the Nexus 5 which is a showpiece for the new camera api. I hope some devs try to look into it.

Holy crap!!!! Seriously?? If that is the case, then a few tweaks to the camera libs will bring 1080p HD recording to our phone!! I always thought our camera sucked.
And to answer the question, Motorola itself has to implement the new camera2 api into the libs, without which we'll never get it. (I don't think they want to, considering its a mid range phone)

Holy crap! Devs, any mods available for that?

This will take time, Google has got the Camera API before everyone else, so the OEM's got them after Lollipop got released I think, I believe we gotta wait for Motorola to completely introduce the API in the Moto G...

IF they'll implement API2 it'll be on new devices. Not on old ones.
Maybe X 2014. G and E there's no chance.

Voice activation

The Snapdragon 800 has on Chip Voice activation, how I can active it?
I was saw a Video on the Qualcomms Website the people call: Hey Snapdragon and the phone turn on and say Hello Master?
Sony deactivate the function on the Software or I make some wrong?

Nice Option, I never know something like that it's possible with Z1. I am curious too if we can get this option to work.

Tomorrow I will ask the Sony support.

It's not implemented yet. Has nothing to do with Sony. It's a new feature in KK

Very sure. The first KK phone introducing it was N5 with the Google Experience Launcher.
There are apps simulating this, but as a system cheat I rather think a battery drainer...

Ok, so the Chip have the ability to use that feature but is locked by Sony. I hope it will can be unlocked but I doubt.
Guys it's not Sony related. It's a feature introduced in KitKat. We are still on 4.3. Stop begging Sony for each and everything. Just njoy the rest of the beautiful device. There is a lot of stuff coming soon, step by step. Think about holding a device in hands witch will smoothly be able to handle all the features they introduce even in one year while other phones just give up due missing specs...

This disinformation in this thread is amazing. Then is not locked but is System related and is implemented in KitKat, if so we will get that feature.
Update Google Search to 3.2.16.1006154 and the Experience Launcher to 0.10.1.920880 and you are in the game...
Probably you don't even need the Experience Launcher but I can't understand people not using it as the tight Google Now integration is just awesome...

Moto display/voice ports

Y'all think they'll be available, seeing as how this seems to be based on the droid turbo with most of the same hardware?
I had a moto x (2013) and loved those features, just wasn't crazy about the battery life.
A nexus 6 with working active display/moto voice would be amazing.
It looks like Google has incorporated similar features into Android itself.
There's something new called Ambient Display, which is similar to Moto Display.
You can say "OK Google" with the screen off, which is functionally similar to Moto Voice — albeit without the custom launch phrases.
Moto Voice records your voice and then pipes that recording into Google Now. Since this new feature launches Google Now directly, it's probably a lot faster than Moto Voice.
Is there anything setting need to do before OK Google works with screen off?

To be honest I rather have Moto Display than Ambient Display, Google's version just has soo many flaws, and sometimes its not consistent and not only that, theres not much features
If porting the Moto Display and other goodies from the X will be possible I'll be keeping a close eye out
I exported most of the files required for it, but am stuck at the Motorola-specific signature process... And life is getting in the way as well.
Anyone see that China is getting the moto x pro? It's basically the nexus 6 without the nexus branding. Any bets on whether it'll come with the moto tweaks and that a ROM can be made for the nexus 6?
Does anyone know if the moto voice has been ported for the Nexus 6? I like that the moto voice will read your messages to you.

Not yet. I think the best bet would be perhaps getting a dump from the Moto X Pro, which is the Chinese variation of the Nexus 6. China doesn't have Google services, so the Nexus branding has been dropped and all Google apps, but Moto looks to have added their apps to it. Some pics here, which you can see some of the icons on the home screen (unsure if it will have all of the Moto apps though).

Theres a Moto X Pro system dump in this thread.
The Moto X Pro bootanimation.zip uses video files and videodesc.txt instead of .png images and desc.txt like Nexus 6, but it works by just copying /system/bin/bootanimation file from Moto X Pro to Nexus 6, changing permissions and rebooting. Can the same be said for the Moto Apps? Just copy all the apks from /system/priv-app on Moto X Pro to same place on Nexus 6, as well as the /system/lib and /system/bin files?
If anyone knows how to do this it would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime I'll be searching for threads that point me in the right direction and trying the method I mentioned to see what happens.

Moto X features on Nexus 6

This has probably been asked before but a search didn't yield any satisfying responses either way.
The Moto X has a handful of features unique to itself that are very nice to have. I had the first generation and fell in love with it. With my Nexus 6 I love having the Nexus feel, but I want some of the features.
Have any ROMs ported over some of the software features of the Moto X? Some features are in Lollipop, but I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried to port over the gesture to launch the camera, or try to port over the breathing active display (Google's variant is very underwhelming and not very responsive to light changes). Since Motorola made the hardware, I wasn't sure if there was some cross compatibility, or if any attempt had been made.

INSOMNIA | Why No Doze??

So recently we came to know that Doze wasn't enabled in Moto G 6.0 OTA as well as CM 13 nightlies..
Reasoning given was that
Moto G doesn't have hardware to support doze

The software checks whether your phone is moving or not via the info determined by the gyroscope. If it doesn't detect the phone moving a lot, it shuts down a lot of process to save battery life.

I tried to find out more about Hardware Requirements about Doze, Though i couldn't find anything official...
I found this
and Moto G 2014 [Titan] does have gyro while Moto G 2013/2015 don't
Thus my question Why No Doze for Moto G 2014[Titan]
It needs a sensor hub that needs to have a series of sensors. Not just the sensors.
First of all, it is never mentioned in the google official documentations that Doze would utilize gyroscope.
Here is the URL to Google developer page that explains Doze: http://developer.android.com/training/monitoring-device-state/doze-standby.html
Though it is really bothering that CM13 doesn't have Doze mode

Source?? and What are the sensors exactly.. According to me, all the sensors needed to detect movement should be gyro, accelerometer and to an extent compass
It has all of them, so why this

Google camera bypass moto processing?

I know the zealous sharpening issue with the stock moto is a post processing problem and has been mention if not rooted no actual fix yet.. Also others have stated open camera didn't take any better pictures... However I'm wondering if certain apps simply rely on the OS post processing and don't have their own built in. As I used Google camera today to take 2 exact pictures. I sat holding my hand in exactly the same position without moving.. Then launched the stock camera and the comparison is a visibly less noisy and softer photo. I will upload the comparison
Attatched photos taken with both cameras. No hdr no settings adjusted same place touched to focus.
i named each file accordingly. but incase you cant see file names.
goes moto google then for st shot google moto
On custom roms, the Google camera is great, but still has a few issues. Sometimes, it only allowed me to take a few photos at one, and then stopped letting me take any. I had to exit out and go back in to fix it. That said, I saw it on the lineage camera and open camera to...
Either way, the big problem in find is other apps using the camera, which seems to either not work or show a very dark image. This affected mostly QR apps in my experience, (2 factor apps, WhatsApp, etc.)

I downloaded the versions listed previously from apkmirror and enabled camera2 in build.prop. There is a Magisk Module for enabling camera2 now as well.
I had no issues with 2.7.008, but 4.1.006 would occasionally fc when switching from camera to video.
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1 is the build.prop I used.
Someone please kindly share me the APK of Google Camera for non-rooted Moto G5 Plus. I thought I could also use it in my phone!
