I know the zealous sharpening issue with the stock moto is a post processing problem and has been mention if not rooted no actual fix yet.. Also others have stated open camera didn't take any better pictures... However I'm wondering if certain apps simply rely on the OS post processing and don't have their own built in. As I used Google camera today to take 2 exact pictures. I sat holding my hand in exactly the same position without moving.. Then launched the stock camera and the comparison is a visibly less noisy and softer photo. I will upload the comparison
Attatched photos taken with both cameras. No hdr no settings adjusted same place touched to focus.
i named each file accordingly. but incase you cant see file names.
goes moto google then for st shot google moto
On custom roms, the Google camera is great, but still has a few issues. Sometimes, it only allowed me to take a few photos at one, and then stopped letting me take any. I had to exit out and go back in to fix it. That said, I saw it on the lineage camera and open camera to...
Either way, the big problem in find is other apps using the camera, which seems to either not work or show a very dark image. This affected mostly QR apps in my experience, (2 factor apps, WhatsApp, etc.)

Thanks, I tried 4.1.006 with some buildprop tweaks and 2.7.008; just was curious if you were using the target sdk version for stock or not.

Sorry maybe this one isn't compatible. You'll need a apk off a mirror site but I don't know which to trust so will leave that decision to you

I downloaded the versions listed previously from apkmirror and enabled camera2 in build.prop. There is a Magisk Module for enabling camera2 now as well.
I had no issues with 2.7.008, but 4.1.006 would occasionally fc when switching from camera to video.
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1 is the build.prop I used.
Someone please kindly share me the APK of Google Camera for non-rooted Moto G5 Plus. I thought I could also use it in my phone!

I really like the Google camera app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera&hl=en
Unfortunately on the turbo it still does have some lag. Hopefully that will be fixed with future OTA updates.
The main thing I like about Google's app is the option to take photosphere images and panoramas. I know the stock camera app does panoramas but Google's app allows for much higher quality images.
I have taken some really awesome images using this app.

Do you see this as well on your install?
Yes, those resolutions are correct for the Turbo camera (even though they say a lower MP).
The 5248x3936 is the same as the full 21mp (Standard) mode, and the 5248 x 2952 is the same as the 15.5mp (Widescreen) mode. Assuming that this is what your asking?
Exactly what i was asking. I figured it was cosmetic. Just wanted to be sure.
I will the first update might have sped up my camera. When I left the store it was slow, as I read about. Next day I searched for updates and got one. My camera is normal now. The only issue I notice is swiping to pictures from the camera, it swipes right away, then the screen "blinks" real fast. Might try a different camera to compare though.

Yep, other than the resolution displaying wrong it worked good too. I ended up installing the moto camera+ and taking a bunch of samples to compare the two, found it to not take any better pics than the moto camera + with the settings unlocked.

1) add or flash these files below (if not there) (This step is not necessary for ROMs like NitrogenOS)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/themes/flashable-zip-google-lens-pixel-2-t3693859
/system/etc/sysconfig/nexus.xml
/system/etc/sysconfig/pixel_2017_exclusive.xml
/system/etc/sysconfig/pixel_2017.xml
2)Install both the modified apks from below link

Now open Google camera or camera NX and find AR Stickers!
Tested on NitrogenOS 8.0

You mean the app generally? If so there is nothing much about that. You can just play with few stickers. Not sure but it should work i guess considering both the device have similar camera.

I played around with it for a bit the other day. The app just crashed when I tried to use AR stickers, but I'm pretty sure it's because I'm still on 7.1. I'll upgrade once Xposed is out for Oreo, we'll see if it'll work then.
Hello all!
I want to know if any port of Google Camera works on this device?
Thanks!
EDIT - It is vanilla G6 Model. Not the Play or Plus version.
As far as I know it doesn't work on arm32 software, has to be arm64, I've tried several ports and can't get them to work. Hopefully we will get an arm64 firmware at some point.

It's not bad, but then again I'm not trying to take pictures at a sporting event or something, I'd use my actual camera to do that. If I take a picture on the phone it's usually of something that doesn't move.

In the future, the gcam port is dependenant on the phone it's intended for, otherwise you need to adjust the settings manually.id highly suggest not touching ANY settings in the camera app that are in the " settings" menu. You can change the camera modes and stuff but don't touch the settings menu.
As for whitch version to download, any gcam that is in red and Bold is a stable working non beta version.

Yes I did. You told me what you did, what I should do, gave me a couple links to sites...but you never answered the question. Yes or No would have been sufficient since I know all the other stuff already. I just wanted to know if that link was just for the Pixel, since the article didn't make that clear.
BTW, I have changed many of the settings (as suggested when they came out) in earlier versions to get them to work.
Thanks anyway.

Hi XDA,
Can anyone please pull the stock Asus Zenfone8 app(as an .apk) so we can use it on custom ROMs ?
I compared the stock Asus camera app with all availabe apps before installing the LineageOS and the difference is huge, specially comparing it to the OpenCamera.
The stock app is way better.
I wish I can have it on my LineageOS now

Well, I was hoping it was some kind of img file. But it's a zip with a .bin file. Not a clue as to what I can do with that. Would be great to get the stock camera. The Lineage camera really sucks and I cannot get any of the gcam versions to work either...
If that helps, I was able to get OK results on the stock ROM from the GrapheneOS Camera app. You can get it from their github repository. Note that it is very basic and lacks any night mode or any kind of special features. Also I just noticed that it does not offer the option of switching lenses. Maybe it is possible but I didn't search on that subject. Here are some comparison images

Hi, I tested it as well and had no sucess. As a developer I also tried to unpack the apk and take a look, imeediatly noticed that it has some google dependencies which in my case a LineageOS with no google will not work, as well I saw some properties and configurations files so maybe these has some data related to the phone of the good guy who ported it out.
The stock camera app is way better than the most famous free camera apps out there, specially in night photography, the OpenCamera for example leaves you night photos so so noisy and it sets the screen brightness on max with no way to change that (not that I know).
Lets please keep this thread running to find out the best camera for this phone with AOSP and no google dependneces.
Tested the Witchaya Port of GCam yesterday. No luck with Version 8 (just crashes), but Version 7 first seemed to run. Yet it freezes the captured image constantly after 3 seconds. Tapping onto a different camera mode wakes the image again for 3 seconds - just to freeze again afterwards. Tried all of the supplied xml config files - no success. I'm running on latest LineageOS nightly without the GApps...
I believe if a good developer can take a look at the stock Asus app and figure out why it doesn't work.
Maybe it's just a deal of adjusting some configuration file.
On another thread, what's the best free Camera app you're using ?
I'm using the OpenCamera since it has lots of options, but its photo quality is not the best and night shoots are so noisy.
Asus camera is dependant of asus framework . Most likely nogo to get it to run on non as roms.
Its not as simple as config files, it much deeper integrated in asus framework
