I just downloaded the gcam for the snapdragon variant.
In the future, the gcam port is dependenant on the phone it's intended for, otherwise you need to adjust the settings manually.id highly suggest not touching ANY settings in the camera app that are in the " settings" menu. You can change the camera modes and stuff but don't touch the settings menu.
As for whitch version to download, any gcam that is in red and Bold is a stable working non beta version.

Yes I did. You told me what you did, what I should do, gave me a couple links to sites...but you never answered the question. Yes or No would have been sufficient since I know all the other stuff already. I just wanted to know if that link was just for the Pixel, since the article didn't make that clear.
BTW, I have changed many of the settings (as suggested when they came out) in earlier versions to get them to work.
Thanks anyway.
So can anyone point me to the correct gcam for my Note 9 Snapdragon? I assume the latest and greatest Google cam port is pretty much install and use as is? I'm seeing several in Red and bold.. Haven't been keeping up lately. Thanks

Everyone says you make no adjustments to the settings, yet unless I'm living on Venus, green pics are not what I want.

There's no option for it as of right now. Also the photos look a little worse than the stock camera app when I compared them. The app has potential if you can edit the photos saved as a RAW format.

I see by the pics that there are a number of options that end in x60. Is that frame rate? What do the videos look like when you use those? The assumption is that the playback is still going to do 30 fps and if shot at 60fps then the playback would be slo-mo.
Also what are the grayed out options and the blue options, if you know?

I know the zealous sharpening issue with the stock moto is a post processing problem and has been mention if not rooted no actual fix yet.. Also others have stated open camera didn't take any better pictures... However I'm wondering if certain apps simply rely on the OS post processing and don't have their own built in. As I used Google camera today to take 2 exact pictures. I sat holding my hand in exactly the same position without moving.. Then launched the stock camera and the comparison is a visibly less noisy and softer photo. I will upload the comparison
Attatched photos taken with both cameras. No hdr no settings adjusted same place touched to focus.
i named each file accordingly. but incase you cant see file names.
goes moto google then for st shot google moto
On custom roms, the Google camera is great, but still has a few issues. Sometimes, it only allowed me to take a few photos at one, and then stopped letting me take any. I had to exit out and go back in to fix it. That said, I saw it on the lineage camera and open camera to...
Either way, the big problem in find is other apps using the camera, which seems to either not work or show a very dark image. This affected mostly QR apps in my experience, (2 factor apps, WhatsApp, etc.)

I downloaded the versions listed previously from apkmirror and enabled camera2 in build.prop. There is a Magisk Module for enabling camera2 now as well.
I had no issues with 2.7.008, but 4.1.006 would occasionally fc when switching from camera to video.
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1 is the build.prop I used.
Someone please kindly share me the APK of Google Camera for non-rooted Moto G5 Plus. I thought I could also use it in my phone!

There should be a download link on the post, it's right above the interview with the developer. Yes, I have them both installed on my home screen and they both work fine. Just install it like a regular apk.
Seems Note 8‘s camera works as well as google camera?
Is there somewhere that explains the differences in the various algorithms? I searched around but found only bits and pieces.
Also, it would be nice if someone could post which settings actually work for the Note 8. I tried a few and some wouldn't save and others
(I'm not a big camera buff and really don't use my phone's camera that much, otherwise I would.)
I'm seeing people state that the Google Camera is a bit better than the Stock Samsung one, but my experience is the opposite. Google Camera is giving me bad low light performance. I even used setting from the forums and was still subpar. What settings are you guys using?

Not correct. Works on Exynos too but if you try to make any changes to settings it'll crash. Only way to revive is by clearing storage from settings!
However I didn't find it significantly better than stock camera and night time/poor lit/dark conditions photos are definitely better with stock camera.
So I was looking through all the current GCam builds, by that I mean all those modded ones, and I think I found the best one for Snapdragon phones. https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/cstark27_GCam_5.1.018_24_v3.6.apk
The Pixel2Mod one is the best, but requires a device whitelist to work. So, you know, it takes time.
@Arnova8G2 could you please add starqlte, starlte, star2qlte and star2lte
I think those are correct.
The one you posted crashes completely on my S9 Snapdragon. It works on yours? It won't go anywhere past accepting permissions.
The one I have that works is named gcam_5.1.018.177470874.41362666_SG7Exy_V8.2.apk. Looks like it's for an Exynos, but at least it runs.

I did a quick spin around looking for Gcam.... man, there are a lot of options! (and opinions)
This thread here has a 'stable' one with HDR+. And an additional one which is the 'best' for portrait.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/pixel-cam-hdr-s8-exynos-nougat-t3729169
The v8.2 one I referred to specifically is from the S7 forums, here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/themes/google-camera-portrait-mode-t3736859
I just installed a few but haven't had any opportunity to really test them out much. Phone is not my daily driver (yet?).
I installed one that is working but makes the phone very hot. Uninstalled it with away.

The link that was posted here does indeed have an extensive list & has the various commands (I'd use disable, since it ca be reversed vs uninstall, which requires a factory reset to restore).
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79118360&postcount=6
The affected functions/apps are conveniently grouped together, making it much easier to troubleshoot if anything desirable gets broken.

That's a good article/tutorial, but, since it was published, disable/enable commands have been found to work vs uninstall.
If you're absolutely sure you want to uninstall, that's fine, but, I see no advantages vs disabling.
You're not going to be able to repurpose the storage by deleting,& disabling is easily reversible.

Cool, I think you only need to freeze one .apk to disable the system updates.
I had a conversation with someone here recently that was on VZW & IIRC, VZW changed the name of the apk(s) responsible.
If you haven't already isolated which one(s) they are, I could look back at my older posts & get that info...

Tried out Pie & at least on the Note 9, did not like it at all, akin to how the Note 5 seemed like a downgrade from the Note 4.
If you can't trigger the "Check for Updates" in settings, I'd think that should suffice.

I'm using Adhell3 as well & have not been prompted to update my T-Mobile Note 9.
Tried out Pie & at least on the Note 9, did not like it at all, akin to how the Note 5 seemed like a downgrade from the Note 4.

Thanks, for sharing your experience on your TMo N9! I'll just have to be diligent about updating the key for AdHell!
You seem to come to my resue, often and I really appreciate it!
When I see your user name, I think of this, even tho I know its pronounced differently.

Essentially what @KOLIOSIS already said; use disable user option. Although with Ah3 there is no need it might get handy if keys for Ah3 can't be generated.
