Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S, which I had rooted and had done the lag fix for.
I decided to update the Android OS to 2.2.
So I removed the lag fix, but didn't remove root.
I then tried to officially upgrade via Kies.
The upgrade went through, Kies confirmed completion, and the phone rebooted.
However on reboot the phone gets past the "Samsung Galaxy S" logo and stays on a blank screen, vibrating every 20-30 seconds.
I can restart in recovery and download mode but don't know what the correct steps are to get the phone working again.
If anyone can offer some advice it would be much appreciated.
Thanks & Regards,
Try a factory reset from recovery.
No need to flash the older firmware again?
had the same problem, factory reset solved it for me

Hi all!
Today I tried to downgrade my Samsung Galaxy S i9000 from ICS to Ginger.
I downloaded the firmware I9000XXJVU, Odin 1.82 and the PIT 512 file.
After the flash when Odin ends the operation and restarting the phone, it asks me for a password...
The phone does not switch even off.
I have to disconnect the battery to turn it off.
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Deliberatly enter a wrong password several times, your phone will announce it will delete everything, confirm that message and your phone will boot.

You need to dismantle your device.. I just remove and re insert the ribbon cable connected to the LCD...?

Glad you solved the issue..but wouldnt go that route
If checked the Search you would have seen other posts with same issues and there outcomes
Today my mobile screen went blank. The battery was at 50% at the time. Upon start up the SAMSUNG logo is displayed, and is flashing (as it does) but nothing else is working. I took the battery out to turn it off. Replaced the battery and the same thing happened again. The flashing SAMSUNG continues, no further boot up. I have had this phone for over 1.5yrs now, this is the first problem I have had with it. Thanks in advance for any helpful answers.

Thanks, I will try and let you know.
It is official, the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 is kaput. No saving it. Apparently this is very common. They just cease to work. 'flashing' it did not work, a new battery did not get it working.. it is now a door stop. I will not be purchasing another Samsung phone again.
Not give up so easily. In your first post you wrote that you saw the Samsung logo. So it isn't dead.
Try to start with download mode or recovery (3-button-combos).
Can you boot into one of them?

As thai dai says, it's not broken, you just need to flash a rom probably, don't quit.

re ; 'flash'
I put it in to the repair guys. They tried to 'flash' the phone. It is kaput. Now spare parts for my husband's note... when that dies too! They (the repair guys) said that they see this all too often with this Samsung type.

Ignore these "repair" guys.
If your Samsung logo is displayed your device isn't dead and you should try to boot into download mode first. Can you do this?
I have the same issue

I tried the 3 buttons and the Samsung logo is displayed , then the green android logo appears then so quick some writings appears in colours ( I think it says there's some errors) but I can't do anything.. :crying:
please tell me if you know how can I get back all my files to my pc .. on this situation..
Thank you
First of all: tell exactly what you did and what happens.
Can you reach recovery?
Can you boot into download mode?
Which buttons did you press?
What do you see at the screen after using one of the two combos?

Let's start at the beginning.
Press and hold Vol up, home and power key until you see the samsung logo. That's called recovery mode, can you enter this?
The other mode you mention is download mode. If you can enter download mode you're fine, the phone is not broken. Never trust repair shop guys, most of them come direct to this site and cannot follow instructions.

Please do not tell us stories. Try to answer exactly the questions or follow exactly the steps like the poster before told you.
If you can switch do download mode with pressing the three named buttons at the same time then you can install a stock Rom with PC Odin.
Please read in Dr. Ketan's thread how to do this.

Ok, that video is going into recovery mode, but it looks as though it's throwing up some read errors and not able to apply csc. Basically your kernel is hosed.
But you can get into download mode so it doesn't matter anyway.
The thing is you'll likely lose all your data as you don't know what rom you were originally on. You'll need to go to Dr Ketan's thread in original android development forum in the stickies, and download any stock rom of your choice and then flash with pc odin with the phone in download mode. Don't worry if this doesn't make sense at the moment, take a long time and read Dr k's thread before you post anything further.

This happened to me. Was on stock xxlt9 amd even flashing / wiping did nothing.
Fixed it by flashing philz kernel and from there restoring a nandroid then reflashing. Works ok now.

so i bought this phone online and it was stuck at Samsung logo so i flashed NC2 via odin and it came back up...... YAY !!
however there's a new set of issues i have to deal with and i cant figure it out because i've tried like 6 roms now and i cant downgrade because of this dumb fuse thing on the N900a
so im stuck with the 4.4.2 roms
however the Problems are:
1. entering camera, it shows black screen then says "warning: camera failed".
2. entering the phone dialler it takes seconds to respond
3. music is freezes
4. unlocking the phone it takes seconds to open
5.wakelock takes seconds also to respond
6. no sound
has anyone any idea whats causing this ?
thanks in advance
Sounds like bad flash. Try to clear everything in stock recovery and flash Odin files again.
