I have an unlocked Phone running on VZW. Should I expect that at some point I will get VoLTE.....or should I just return it while I can and get a VZW version?

Did that a month ago. Waiting for the update 5.1 to be able to use it

Running stock 5.1 now on motorola-purchased phone. My VZW account is provisioned for "advanced calling" but not seeing it function on the phone at this point. I know my Droid Turbo was pushed a VZW update when VoLTE was available. I assume that is not supposed to be the process on a N6.

Try following the instructions in these threads. I have it currently working on 5.1

http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/verizon-volte-problem-solution-t3052877
Also the VoLTE feature only works for Verizon to Verizon calling and with other phones that have the feature. The best part of the update is the simultaneous Voice/Data capabilities.

When the links were first published for 5.1, I flashed and installed the update through fast-boot and I am currently on 5.1 successfully. I have a t-mobile sim and I purchased this device from them. Today, they are pushing the 5.1 update which is the same as what I already have, but in addition, they are adding VolLTE. Now Im not sure if I already have that due to previously flashing it, or am I supposed to re-flash the T-Mobile variant of 5.1. Anyone have any input?
volte is voice over lte, making and receiving calls on lte. do you have volte?

Never-mind, I looked around and apparently the build number for the nexus 6 t mobile carrier is different (LMY47M). And Yes, its LTE. So i guess I just have to wait till the new factory images are posted to Google and then eventually side-load the update.
I have a Nexus 6 that I purchased directly from Motorola and have running on Verizon's network. I have not yet received the Android 5.1 OTA update. Shouldn't I have received it by now? If not, when should I expect it?
No offense intended, but let's answer this question - What version of android SHIPS on Verizon issued Nexus 6's ?
They have no need of an OTA. It comes with LMY47E installed. (if you want a higher build, or 5.1 in general, see below)
You'll have to flash a 5.1 image for it.
Alternatively, you could also try the no SIM installed boot up after a factory reset and see if it gets it from Google.
Probably Never
For some background see the following post. You will be very interested in the Android Police article.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/ota-requires-carrier-approval-t3067283
Hope this helps ....
Unless you want to do the get on wifi and pull the SIM card dance (after you factory flash) you might want to read up on doing it manually yourself.
I recommend using the Nexus toolkit to retain your user data and moving to any version Google has available.
I suppose it couldn't hurt to pull the Verizon SIM, get on wifi, reboot your phone and see what happens.

I'm wondering which version of 5.1 I should be grabbing. I think I'm going to do the side-load instead of pulling my SIM to get it to update to build D. Will build D have the HD voice feature?
What do you guys recommend?
The only thing that's important is the 98R baseband radio I believe that comes with D and E. once you have that you can flip to any system version after D you would like. I am currently running version i on Benzo and HD voice works fine.

Hello,
I just upgraded from a Galaxy S3 to a Nexus 6 yesterday. Loving it!
It's running 5.1 out of the box, but how do I know I have the latest firmware / radio / bootloader, etc?
Here's what I'm seeing:

BOOTLOADER

Thanks!

If it was purchased directly from Verizon, you have the latest firmware release. This is the first time I have seen LMY47O on an N6 though. That's more recent than anything else reported here.
Carrier Specific Images?
If it is factory fresh and purchased from Verizon directly, kind of negates the theory that the "E" image was Verizon specific. Makes me wonder about the other supposed carrier specific images.
I purchased directly from a VZW store and then flashed Euphoria and Franco Kernel.

Been jumping back and forth between samsung and sprint looking for the "smart call" feature, which requires me to enable it. Both sprint and samsung believes it should be on. But i can't find the option to enable it
Can anyone check for this?

I had a few (legit) calls today thay had a Smart icon attached along with name of caller.

It’s available on the unlocked version (like mine) but most carriers disable these functions so they can charge for them.
Can anyone confirm that they do (or do not) have it on their sprint version?

The only option I have is Sprint's Caller ID app. It works, but it's a $3 monthly add-on. Phone came with a 10 day trial.

I am using the EU exynos version unlocked, but don't have this option at all. Neither the places tab in phone app!
What the heck...
The company itself is a spam monger. Pity those that enable this feature

I have a Pixel 4 XL from my friend,it's Verizon version. It's lock bootloader can not open OEM check. But it's unlocked sim,Can i unlock bootloader from Verizon ? I tested factory reset and insert another simcard ,it's have signal but can not open OEM.
Sorry for my English
No, Verizon has it set up with Google so that all of the Pixel 4 and 4 XLs sold through Verizon have locked bootloaders that cannot be unlocked.

The answer to your question is NO! Do some basic research and you will quickly realize what you want is not possible. You purchased the wrong phone variant if you want to unlock the bootloader.
As other said, you cannot unlock the bootloader on a Verizon 4XL at this time. Might be possible in the future through an exploit bit not likely.
