Unless there are some apps in the background going crazy i`d say it may be hardware related and you should claim warranty. Install GSam battery monitor (or similar app) and CPU Spy for more info mate about whats going on on your phone. Never xperience this issue you discribe.

ive tried everything im on clean rom with lean kernel ive switched roms/kernels and still same thing

Battery use and temp after root normally worse?

Hello all,
before anyone yells at me I did search and didn't find anything that makes sense cause this does seem common.
My battery life is still decent not as good as before rooting but I could live with that and not even over clocking is set to max of arround 990 or so but my thing is does seem like I am even just reading a book or the screen is on the bottom part of the phone gets warmer then it did before I rooted my phone.
I have tried different roms like modacos r22 desire r19 froyo, cyan 5.0.8, and rodreigez style and all seemed to have done it.
Seems ok when locked and not used for a while but with screen running for about 10 mins or so I can feel it getting warm. The stock unrooted frf50 i was on did not do that. Maybe recovery you think? Or should I just completely unroot put back stock recovery and all. Will be official then since I didn't unlock bootloader.
I am using setcpu from market and that is set to profiles
sleep 245-460 on demand
charge 245-883 on demand
fail 245-245 on demand
any ideas if I just did something wrong or do I need to flash a different kernel?
*edit*
also may be relevant since I live in 3g coverage I used to have the phone plugged in and download files and never leave 100% battery. Even with it undervolt kernel and not over clocked it drains now when I do this.
Anyone? And something else I noticed, if I plug in with more then 90% power to the pc it wont charge even though shows is charging till gets below 90% till 89 then will start charging. Any ideas?

Uf, you should consider then some other OS. Not sure what we can run on the galaxy though. Search the forums. (maybe ubuntu?)
I know you mean the process . But this is seriously funny .
There was a thread in which this process jumped up when using screen filter. Check that out.
You are using an unreleased version of Android which I don't think has even been included with phones yet and you shouldn't expect it to work well.. It should come as no surprise that the battery drops like a brick. There are probably many other bugs too. It doesn't mean the official copy is buggy, and it doesn't mean the final version of Samsung's copy will be either. It's like stealing a bike which is only half assembled off an assembly line and complaining the seat is wobbly.

Come on Auzy . That has nothing todo with "unreleased" besides http://goo.gl/FnGjR
This is the thread I meant http://goo.gl/AP6z3
I got 58 hours standby(2:20 Hours of display, all network on) that ROM is so far BEST for battery LIFE.
An a side note to you. Please check how many bug reports you got on eclair, froyo and now gingebread and then state those "facts" about unofficial, unreleased and many bugs.
What happens when i deleat the Screen filter app?
And how can i deleat it?

I had the same problem as yours. On my first install, Android OS eats up most of the battery that my phone could not last for a day in a single charge.
But when I installed CF-root kernel, that issue was gone and Android OS is back to normal.
I suggest you try to flash the original kernel only using odin and see if it works. If not then try to install CF-root kernel.

Okay than the problem comes From another reasen :-(
In order to fix your battery life, there are a few things you can do to improve it:
1. Recalibrate your battery:
- Charge it till it is full;
- Completely drain it, till your phone won't turn on again;
- Completely charge it;
- Go into CWM -> advanced -> Remove battery stats
And done!
2. Make sure WiFi and GPS are turned off when you're not using them!
3. Download SetCPU. Enable profiles and set following profiles:
- Charging: min 1000, max 1000
- Screen Off: min 100, max 200
- Normal: min 100, max 1000
4. Download Voltage Control and set 100 MHz to -150 mV.
Your battery life should improve now! This fixed my battery problems on Froyo 2.2.1 atleast
Without reading wha the guy adviced up. My Android OS process spiked up too. And it got so far that it froze the phone . Had to take the battery out.
It seems it was done either by a game (Cordy) or SetCpu I ran it but not allowed it in SU. Android OS and the Events ate it

had the same problem. seems to be a wifi issue, even when wifi is off. i think i fixed it by setting the wifi-sleep-policy from "never" to "sleep when screen off". don't know why but it helped me. didn't even lose 1% in the last hour and Android OS went from 82% to 71%.
Okay thank you i try it, but i have this problem also if wifi is not on.

i know i did too. but by changing the policy the problem disapeared. dosn't matter if it's on or not.
Ad-hoc needs a lot of power, always at 80 mA, this is Wifi very weak.
Can I use wifi from 2.2.1 to 2.3.3?
Hi i have read to fix the problem do this:
System settings - applications - Applications - (rider) ALL software update - "delete data"option.
I really look through any more.
My battery is now 2 days was okay and now it starts again at the the Android OS will look into the level I like the battery is eer.
The only thing I've done is I've added in the preferences WhatsApp account so that my contacts will automatically update itself.
But I looked to the APP watchdog and think nothing which time the battery.
It says only Android system and mmmcps?
use ti backup to made a back up of "software update" and samsung account 1.0" then freeze or force delete them. never had the bug since

Lag/Stutter/whatever you want to call it ?

So why is it that even when I running a 1.3Ghz phone sometimes games like Dungeon Defenders run REALLY smooth and no issues, but then later I will try to play it and it will run like a bag of spanners, and is completely unplayable?
Rebooting phone often sorts this out, but why should I have to? The GPU has dedicated RAM, all unnecessary applications have been shut down, even put into flight mode.. and still it freezes for seconds (sometimes for a LONNGGGG time), and just generally stutters badly on the screen.
I thought maybe it was to do with the stock rom, but a factory reset proved that the stock rom is fine, but later it screws up. So I try the V20Q rebuilt rom, and stefans's gueste kernel and it still does it.
What is going on? Is the phone running out of resource? Is the second CPU not starting up? What is going on, and how can I find out?
Does it happen after at least 24h of runtime?
No. I've not measured it, but can happen within 8 hours I imagine. I have tried different batteries to rule out a voltage problem.
Is there a memory and dual CPU monitor tool I can use in the back ground to try and find out the problem.. or at least get a head start on the issue?
Oh forgot to mention, whilst it's lagging, even on the initial Dungeon Defenders start up screen... it's very unresponsive, and can take several seconds to identify I pressed something.

If you want a monitor tool, use system panel pro version.
However if the phone begins to be unresponsive after some time, it is because there is memory leak. It is a common problem in stock-based roms. ATM only reboot can solve this issue.
If you flash CM-based roms, the phone will be always smooth.
I did download system panel lite, but will grab 'pro' on Wednesday to help monitor the cpu usage (both cores) and free memory etc.
I actually like the stock V20Q rom... real shame :-(

wrong. It happens in CM roms too I have to reboot every day to avoid starting to experience lagginess which becomes unbearable on day 3
I will buy the system tool tomorrow and try and monitor what the heck is going on.
It should easily be running this program, there is no reason why it's performing so badly and causing the phone to be unresponsive.
Interesting... whilst running Antutu today, I only got 4900 to 5000 points @ 1.2Ghz. I can get about 7000 at this speed so I wondered what was going on. I checked out systempanel, and it appears to only be using 1 core. Hmm...
@-sandro-
What kernel do you use?
With ironkrnL 32 or 48 there is no lag. Not even after a week without switching the last reboot.
As per sig, using Stefan's gueste v1.1 kernel for stock rom's (V20Q).
(My setup is his kernel + the rebuilt V20Q italian rom from LG with the 'tweak' pack).
Is the ironKRNL compatible with V20Q stock?

You just have an unstable setup, I haven't rebooted in days and I'm running smooth

I could say my phone runs "smooth" but then I bench it (The bench will show bad results), or play a game and it can be a stuttery mess.

NEVER happened to me with CM7...it has an excellent memory management
Please, I don't want to discuss different ROM's. I would like help diagnosing the cause
I have now put on gueste v1.2 release candidate, and can see the 2nd core activating earlier. However, I'm still getting random results, and I can't say for sure whether or not the CPU 2 is activating as system panel isn't historically recording the CPU level of CPU 2 individually :-(
In Antutu.. you can see the FPS is down as well even after running a 2nd time. It's all very wierd. (I got 7250, then the next run I got 4900(ish) !)
EDIT: Upon testing, what I noticed the most was that CPU Floating point scores and 2D graphics were at least half of what they should be, whilst 3D score was barely affected at all. This to me points to an issue with the CPU side of things.

[Q] [ASK] HElp to find out what causing this battery drain

hi all..
2 weeks ago I finally bought my very first android based HH, GNOTE...currently I'm running on ICS LPF Taiwan unroot, and very love it. one of my concern on this ICS, is the battery drain so much, considering it just sit on my pocket.
i have CPU Spy and BBS Installed, and found that it just Deep Sleep 48% and 200MHz 37 %. Kernel Wakelock is "multipdp" 25% Power Manager Services 21,2% and secril_fd-interface 19.25.
could you please tell me what causing this battery drain so much..?
The best thing that you could do is do a Factory Reset, but with all the bricking problems it's highly discouraged. I don't recognise the processes, but you should make sure that you deleted all the apps you never use, since one of then could be causing the problems you have.

After upgrading to German ICS, also had problems with wakelocks (phone never sleeped)
Done this (posted on XDA somewhere) and it worked:
Turn Flight Mode ON
Turn Off the Phone
Take out the battery for 30 secs
Plug battery back
Turn on the phone
Wait until all is loaded and turn off Flight Mode.
Also, always disconnect from the charger with screen ON and unlocked.
After using this 2 metods, never had a wakelock again (multipdp etc)
Regards
NM
thanks a lot for both of you....
will try these steps.....and will comeback with the result....

thanks for your answer for my question...
regarding that did you mean that i have to stop receiving email on my Galaxy Note..?? for me that's really important since i bought my note to support my daily job...
is it the main cause..? if yes, i think i should buy another battery as a way out.
I also have encountered the same problem with my galaxy note after the stock ics update in India.
I have checked out the earlier posts on the same issue..
Some users had the problems of deep sleep and some others had other problems..bt as far i have been able to understand this problem...it is associated with those apps which we often use..for eg i had been using apex launcher for so long...and it used to suck my phones battery like hell also coz of the widgets and the other things that it use.
So what i did was a simple factory reset and a data wipe and didn't install the apex launcher again.
I let my phones battery drain completely and charged it till 100% and simply rebooted it and removed the battery too. And its working good now.
Those things which suckedy battery included android system and display...i could do any thing about display but i force stopped may process of android system and results are good.
One more reason for battery drain could be that when we go backs from the apps on stock ics on galaxy note..the apps do not get closed comletely like stock web browser which works in the background too..so might be other reason for so.
Don not install those apps which u dont use often coz they might work in background add unnecessorily suck ur bettery.
Try the battery pull off trick it really works for majority of users.
Force close those apps and processes which u feel unnecessory.
Those whose claim ics doesnt work smooth on their note they pls go the develpers option in settings and enable the force GPU rendering option then it will work smooth like anything...
One more thing which u may already know about galaxy note ics is that now it runs all the tablet apps on ur note! Thats pretty amazing coz u need not root it or do anything...for me it worked with the apps like...adobe idea, adobe photoshop touch and all other adobe apps and some other tablet apps..download these apps directly from 4shared..so cheers!!!
Those who are not happy with their battery pls try factory reset and battery pull off trick...it worked for me and it might work for u too my friend...
if you are entering deep sleep at all then you aren't being affected by the bug where you have to make sure your screen is on and unlocked before pulling it off the charger.
i suffered from this bug after updating to ics lpy, but since following the guide above (flight mode, power down etc.) i've had no issues.
let your phone completely discharge, then turn it back ona dn make sure it turns off again. then fully charge it. i found this increased the accuracy of the battery a little, when i did it it dropped from 10% to 1% in around 20 mins, then i was able to use the phone for almost half an hour on 1% so obviously my battery stats weren't quite right.
if you've done a factory reset, and you're sure the phone is entering deep sleep ok, just go through a couple of complete charge/discharge cycles and see if that improves things

Analyzing is tought on android.
Printscreens of kernel wakelock and partial are better.
Partial is mostly what exactly is keeping awake
Try some of the suggestions from the numerious threads, state them here whicj didnt work and describe usage a little more detail, that way we arent shooting in the dark

i still got this issue regarding multipdp and secril_fd_interface....maybe it caused by unstable network or the fast dormancy stuff...
so i went to nearest samsung center and buy a spare battery... now i have no concern about this...but still keep on eye with l2_hsic...the flight mode on and restart will solve this issue..

I was having battery drain issues myself. Got tired of checking CPU Spy and BBS etc. Worried about bricking and wiping so I...
I rooted the phone.
Installed SpeedMod Kernel 3-3 via mobile odin that didnt really solve it.
I installed Abyss kernel. Wiped everything because its supposed to be a safe wipe kernel.
Then installed Criskelo rom
Then installed SpeedMod Kernel 3-3 again and everything was great with battery life.
You have to reinstall apps and setup your phone basically but its well worth it in my opinion. Now my only battery drain is me always messing with my phone.

@gayanaji - I use Criskelo's ROM and all the Samsung apps work fine. No probs here. Many of the custom ROMS are based on other Kernels that the Samsung apps do not work with. I am a bit new to this but I believe that is correct. Just make sure to use a Samsung app compatible Kernel if you decide to do it. Also another piece of advice before doing anything read a bunch to make sure you fully understand everything with regards to rooting, flashing custom ROMS etc.

[Q] A little question from a "paranoid" man

Will the use of custom rom instead of stock rom affect my phone's hardware?
Lets say I use CM7.2 with OC 768Mhz and my phone reaches 50 degrees when used intensively. Is it a bad thing to use custom rom for a long period of time? I'm asking for the long term consequences

No, there is absolutely no problem. On extensive use with overclocking, your phone will heat up, but thats not a problem, it doesnt do any harm (I do the same to play higher games and stuff and have had no problems)
However - and I'm pretty sure you know about this - Your battery drains faster but it will still last quite a while
PS there is no need to overclock all the time you wont need it that much
Press thanks if this helps
