[Q] Stolen phone - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I would like to ask if someone steals my phone and hard resets it or something, can i locate it myself?

no you can't..

Here is the best guide i have seen as regards security.

It will only protect your phone in case of a normal reset, if somebody manages to completely wipe/ flash a new rom you are done for. Still following the guide heightens the chances you will get your phone back.

[Q] Random Note query

Hey guys/gals
I am seriously considering looking into putting ICS on my Note by using these forums and guides etc (I am a complete knowledgeless noob when it comes to this root/flash etc etc stuff), but I would like to know the following if someone would be kind enough to answer -
1- If I tamper with my device, and if said device ever has to go back to the network operator for repairs etc, how can I wipe everything and revert back to factory settings? is it as simple as hitting factory settings? I would not want them to refuse to service/repair/replace the device if I messed around with it. So is this reversible?
2- what is the best and most simplest way to put ICS on my n7000 if I chose to go down this route and not wait for my UK network operator (Orange) to release their own one? (maybe someone can link me to a good option?)
3- If the part 2 is done, should I get rid of it and use the operator version once they release? or stick with the one I am contemplating installing.
Sorry to be such a pain in the proverbial, would appreciate the help
Kind regards

I will try to answer in a short manner.
1. You can allways flash a stock GB or ICS no matter what you might have done to it. Atleast aslong as it is functioning properly.
2. In my opinion the best and simplest way is to flash a stock ICS through PC Oding. Here is a good guide and plenty of Stock Roms.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
3. I wouldnt get a operator version since they are usually even more bloated than samsungs stock version. And I dont see any benefits with a operator branded version.

Thank you Belfia,
I will consider this a little more, and it seems that I need to purchase a Micro SD to do all this? so that is next on my to-do list

Factory reset - Problem.

Greetings everyone!
Few weeks ago, I gave my device to a friend of mine to manually update it. Something went wrong so he decided not to go any further. Yday i tried to "Factory reset", after reset some error pop'd in the left upper corner of the phone. It says:
[LGE_SECURITY] ERROR: boot image signature
Critical failure: Unable to start kernel.
Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000002).
Anyone had any similiar or even the same problem as i am facing right now? Thanks in advance.
best regards, Milan
Guy didn't know what he was doing apparently. Your handset is still locked and he apparently tried installing a 3rd party ROM, lemme guess, you wanted a newer version of Android than 4.1., which is a reasonable enough thing. Problem is that out of the box you can't do that because it only boots images signed by LG and they abandoned development after releasing 4.1 and a couple of minor point releases. You aren't totally screwed but if you were having somebody else do it for you, you might need to get some help. You can find the details elsewhere here, or more likely point a more skilled friend at it, but here it is in a nutshell.
You need to get LG's official updating software (from the LG website) and you need to fiddle with it a bit until you get it to do a rescue because it expects to have already paired up with the phone while it was still working. If you already had it installed, great because it will make it easier. Anyway, you will probably have to manually pick your model and input the IMEI since it won't already know those things and it will go out and fetch the most recent image. You will push VOL Down and insert the USB cable from a powered down state, it will then do the rest. Good chance you will even retain your data unless that 'factory reset' you mention actually succeeded.
Of course that will only get you back to stock 4.1. Read around for the official way and several un-official ways to unlock your boot loader. Once that is done you can install a better recovery and then a newer version of Android. But the first step is to restore the stock software since you have to have a running phone to be able to unlock it.
And no, nobody has ever been able to explain WHY they lock them, but every single manufacturer seems determined to do it, chipmakers put a lot of work and ad copy into how extensive and unbreakable the locks on their newest chip is, etc. And then they either bow to customer demand and add an unlock feature or we here at xda do it for them... as a courtesy of course. Truly we do live in the asylum. Wonko the Sane was onto something.

fastboot flash mode secure problem

I'm VERY new to this whole rooting, flash mode topic with any phone. I'm an IT guy, and have a Nexus 6 that an employee left behind after being let go that did not unlock the phone. I did a factory reset, but evidently since the flash mode is secure (device locked), when I start up the phone after factory reset, it requires me to enter the users email address and PW. I dont have that, cant get it, so now I'm here. I've learned how to use ADB to apply a new OTA, did that with Shamu 7.1.1, no luck, still wants last users email address info during initial setup. I need to take it OUT of Secure mode without turning on developer mode, since I cant get into the phone at all. Is that even possible? I have read articles for 2 days, tried several things, but am beginning to lose hope that this phone is not recoverable. Please understand that I am extreme newbie! If you have a way to do it, I would be in your debt, and if you could please put it in laymens terms, I would greatly appreciate it. thanks ahead of time!
you need to bypass FRP, another question is, is that possible. And it is forbidden to share such info on this forum.
Sorry mate, unless you find it somewhere else, you are probably stuck with a nice paperclip. You can try oem unlocking from fastboot, but doubt that will work.

[Looking for] Combination ROM G97XFXXS3ASJG

Hello everyone!
My Samsung S10 phone recently died, so I gave it to the local repair shop. They said that it couldn't be repaired, I should buy a new one. Instead, I tried to fix it myself.
While trying, the phone turned on again like nothing ever happened. Unfortunately, the phone now is FRP locked, it seems to have reset itself.
In order to remove the FRP bypass of my Samsung S10, I looked into removing FRP in general. I found a few guides online saying to use a Combination ROM. I downloaded the one provided and tried flashing it using Odin. This didn't work, the phone said "Please get the approval to use factory binaries". In addition, the Combination ROM provided doesn't have the same model number as my phone. The Combination ROM downloaded is called "COMBINATION_FAC_FA90_G973FXXU1ASB2_FAC_CL15414360_QB22060741_REV01_user_mid_noship.tar", while the phone model number displayed in factory mode is "G97XFXXS3ASJG".
I would be really happy if you could help me out with this. I have two concerns in particular:
1. What do I have to do in order to be able to flash a Combination ROM?
2. Do I even need the Combinaton ROM with the exact same model number, and if so, can anyone provide the file?
P.S.: I'm a beginner, got into this topic only for the cause of fixing my own phone.
Greetings,

Zuk Z2 Pro password locked

Wonder if anyone can help? I have a 3 yr old phone that I put a password on and cannot remember it. I haven't used if for two years but thought I would have a mess around.
However I am stuck now. Is there a way of overcoming this somehow. I still have the receipt from when I bought it. Any help or guidance appreciated.
Hi Hi,
it would be the easiest to make a factory reset, so all your data and all your locks are history...

Thanks for the reply. I ended up reflashing a stock ROM, upgraded to Android 8 and changed the launcher. Tried AOSP 10 ROM but couldn't get on with it.
I did try to factory reset but my phone wouldnt allow it. Seems it is not as easy As it seems.
OK, without that you have been dealing with the material in the last few years, it seems a lot.
But the STOCK ROM is also good enough and should be enough.
If you want to update to Androi Q you have to read into the material with the various TWRP and factory / vendor partitions, but this has been discussed far too often, so there are corresponding threads.
Good luck, and if you don't need your Z2pro anymore let me know )
