Battery Drain due to Media Server

Hello i have found some guides that explain how to deal with this but i could not solve the problem
1st) I cant find 0byte files on my internal sd
2nd) there is no way that i factory reset the phone
3rd) the app that used to work like magic on 4.3 now wont work (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.addz.mediascannerroot)
4th) An app that i found in a post caused some problems (like phone locking up and having to reset the phone so i can unlock it)
I attached some photos of my battery drain so you can get an image of the problem
(it may not seem as a drain but when i used the "Rescan Media ROOT" app on 4.1.2 i used to get a MUCH greater battery life.

i had the same problem and i think your only solution is to format the SD Card and put your data back on it and try another rom
if you dont wanna try another rom wipe cache and dalvik cache

I have tried 2 roms existenz and aopk kitkat same problem i formated the internal card yesterday in case this did not work I'll have to format my external.

All day long.I use poweramp but i think the principal is the same.
Also i found out that the total wipe of my internal SD i did earlier did not help at all.
But using BetterBatteryStats i found that:
AudioMix has been running for 2 hours and 3 minutes in total. (partial wakelock)
PowerManagerService.Wakelocks has been running for 2 hours total (kernel wakelock)
Whats all this stuff ?Are these 2 system related ? and last but not least can i stop them from running ?

Well playing music drains the battery pretty quick. This is also due to mediaservice.. We cant do a thing about it.

Even my XSP is facing similar issue like jackaros's and in mine Media Server is constantly consuming battery at 75-80%. I have also attached a screenshot of the same. My phone was completely normal, recently I had a complete wipe and restored Nandroid backup from then this issue creeped in. I have searched several threads in XDA and every time it ends cluelessly. Turn off all syncing activities and also use odexed roms because the deodexed roms have this issues usually, random battery drain amd such. Kernel might also be the problem so you can try that.

[Q] Cyanogen Mod 11 - No SD card , Callendar keeps reseting.

I have installed lates M1 Cyanogen mod 11 but after 1 day , my phone cant locate SD card.... I keep trying , pulling it out , rebooting , nothing helps. Another thing is that my phone keeps remowing all data from callendar, like after every time after 5 hours. Please help.

Have you tried to do a new installation, with full wipe + format sys, and see if the same happens?

I am so tired of doing full wipe all the time. (did full wipe before instal.)

Yesterday did full wipe with sys wipe , system running good for now , gonna tell you after few days if it´s okay.

So , i can clearly say one thing after third full wipe.... This is the most unstable Rom i have ever tried. First of all , my callendar just gets wiped every 3 hours or so , second thing , 1 out of 8 times i want to unlock screen , i have to wait 10 to 20 seconds. Third thing , when i always want to show some photos from holiday to my friends or i just want to play some music for my friends , this rom always let me down..... I am so dissapointed and pissed of.... I have tried so many roms , yet not a single one could work ,this year, for more than 3 weeks without bugs.. But this one , boy oh boy , SO unstable.... Really , i am so sad from this phone.... I have to spent so much time with it to make it work.... Not going for any device from LG ever AGAIN !!!

Is a shame that you have not yet solved your problem! I do not go through this experience with the ROM I'm using (Is in my signature).
Why you not give a try!? Follow the instructions in detail, and you will have no problems.

If you're already with the new bootloader, you do not have to install anything else.

One thing that bothers me is that my PC cant see my mobile , nor hdd or sd , i selected in phone options to use mass storage when connected but when i connect my mobile to my PC with usb cable , it only charges the phone

Tried to turn it on and off 4 times and not working.... God , this phone is taking so much time from my life.... So many roms tried , yet in pas 5 months , none of them works properly. This one started to not see SD card sometimes. It always happen when i need it actually. I am so sad from this phone.... Yesterday , i wanted to hit some music in my car , using phone wia aux but phone couldnt see SD card.... Camera is buggy too. Like , everything else besides that is so good but , those things that i need most are not working.....

Your pc have the last LG drivers? Verifies in the control performance app if is enabled fast charge.
I do not have those problems. In my case everything works well. I change the music app for google music, also the camera for google camera. Relative to sd card, i never had that problem! Try reformatting it.

Charging bug on xperia Z : Everyone must read

I've 2 xperia z which semi bricked in one month . Both device were unlocked , rooted and on 4.4.4 stock.
It started with following symptomps
1 First battery started to shows wrong battery percentage
2 Then it started to drain drastically
3 At latter stage the device were not charging
4 Then a time came whenever I opened some apps it started to shut down
4 At last stage , the device only booted when charger connected .
The two device are having almost same symptoms .
I can flash the .ftf file through flashtool . I tried every stock and custom firmware. I changed the battery , cable and still the same problem.
There is one more thing on both device , I'm not getting green light when pressing the down button while connecting device to my laptop . But even thought I can flash .ftf on red light using flashtool.
Recently if you search in youtube or here in xda forums or in other forum site like talk.sonymobile.com, you can see 100s of people getting this problem. May be there is some charging or battery bug on 4.4.4 which get's triggered with some combination. My two devices are semibricked and this cannot be co incidence.
If you have similar stories or if you have any solution to this problem , Please post below.

From what i see, it may be a H/W issue for u with the battery.. I do experience "No green LED" when connected in flashmode, but no battery drain drastically or anything, but i think urs is an awkward co-incidence of both phones having battery drains.. Did u flash any other fw's like 4.3 or 4.2? Do u still have the same issue? If so, i advice to get ur battery replaced.. For confirmation, check your battery health.. Press *#*#7378423#*#* and enter Service tests..

Battery seems fine. Tried with new battery too. Same problem .. I also checked battery health using *#*#7378423#*#* ... It reads battey is ok no need to change battey.
By using sony mobile battery test , on moth mobile I get same error as quickstyler . But his fix didn't work .. Temperature outsidelimit 15-40°c

Buddy, did u clean install all the ROMs u tried? Format system,data,cache and dalvik cache and then install.. Plus u need to caliberate ur battery, i.e charge to 100% and use the phone til it shuts down.. Doing this for 3-5 charge cycles will caliberate the battery usage.. Try that and see..

I clean installed the rom using cwm ( Factory data, wiping dalvik cache,data,system etc) , Clean installed using flash tool, Eveything I tried.
May be these are the three problem that lies in my mobile
1 Bootlolader corrupted ...
2 Corrupted partition.
3 And last I can confirm based on the other thread... Issue with battery connector to the motherboard. There is a fix provided by quickstyler in help & toubleshooting section ( Charging bug hadware fix) ... But that didn't solve the battery issue either.

I found i possible solution but i dont have the entire information
some users of Xperia (C6605) Z are welding a wire from the battery to the mb because the connector of the battery is cheap and dont transmits the necessary information about the temperature and percentage. (the connector is the same)
So my problem is, where is this point in to mb that we have to weld?

My Htc one m8 switches off automatically but if i use it while charging then phone doesn't switch off . My battery does show charge and I am able to charge it.
Here's a little background:
I had s-off and unlocked bootloader on my htc m8 (non-hk) running kitkat rom and it was rooted. So in order to update it to marshmallow ,i had flashed the MM Rom everything was fine, then there was a handsfree activation loop so as to remove it I had followed this guide and before deleting the contents of carrier folder,I had made a backup of the carrier in the sdcard (but later found out it was missing). :crying: :crying:
On reboot it showed me some error about wifi calling and I saw that wifi calling option and roaming options were missing. And whenever I clicked on any app,it would switch off but while charging it doesn't.
Also when I insert my sim card ,it will just switch off regardless of whether I'm charging or not.
I guess my battery works fine as I am able to charge it and while on the bootloader it doesn't switch off. I have tried flashing back to stock,flashing a custom rom but nothing works. I dont have a nandroid backup(my mistake) and I have also searched around but the links don't work
So guys please help me if there is a way to fix this . And is it possible to make my root directory back to stock ??

Have u tried flashing the stock rooted rom? Did u flash the rom correctly? Can u give me more details about your phone? You are s off and unlocked bootloader. What is your cid and which mm rom did you flash?

I had followed this guide
To go back to stock I had first flashed 1.54.651.10 firmware and then flashed the 1.54.651 ruu.
I have super cid and for MM I had flashed 6.20.651.3_RUU.
Help me bro if i had done anything wrong.

Yes that guide is the one. If u want to upgrade to marshmallow thn just flash the marshmallow firmware first then flash the ruu. And as u have supercid so u can flash either the hk or non hk ruu ...it should be so simple and u can do it just only your phone. No need of a pc or writing commands in adb and all

Moreover if u have any problems like u said it should be gone after flashing the stock mm rom correctly. I guess you messed up something while flashing the ruu. Have uashed the mm firmware prior flashing mm ruu?

Yup bro I did flash the MM firmware first and then the RUU and the flash was done successfully. But things went wrong when I had deleted the contents of the carrier folder (which is located in the root directory) & after that i rebooted my phone.
It showed something about the wifi calling (and later i found that my wifi calling option was no more present) and when i clicked on any app my phone switched off.
Now I am back on stock rom but still the problem persists :crying:
Does flashing firmware or ruu resets the root directory ??

It should. Flash the firmware and ruu again and wipe the previous data. You should be alright

I tried flashing the stock firmware(1.54.651.10) and ruu again but tethering and roaming options are missing. My phone is able to detect the sim card and wifi works fine.
When charger is not connected it boots till the HTC logo and then dies but when I connect the charger it boots normally.
If after the boot i disconnect the charger then the phone stays and doesnot turnoff. But if after that i click an app, it opens it and then shuts down immediately. (No rapid drop in Battery level after reboot).
In short, the shut down problem is still there.
In the meanwhile I performed an OTA update to 2.16.651.4 which added a wifi calling app ( in attachments) I tried clicking it but does nothing.

Bro my final suggestion to you is flash the hk model firmware and hk ruu of marshmallow or smthng from omj's thread. Lemme know if u get those back

Can u give me the screen shots of your phone info and if you can then a picture of the bootloader menu? The phone information and bootloader menu info.

Bro,my tethering options were hidden, so there were no tethering options. I found the solution here. But wifi tethering doesn't work(its greyed out).
And I get an option "activate this device" in settings,can you say me how to remove it??(I dont have a sprint sim and I had it sim unlocked)
The screen flickers sometimes,I guess that could be the reason for automatic shutdowns.
(loose connections may be )

Yes u can remove that easily. If u have already rooted then just download an app which can uninstall pre installed apps and then all u have to do is uninstall the crappy sprint apps. If u are not rooted http://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-remove-bloatware-from-your-android-device-xda-tv/ this link. Just connect to a pc and download the bloatware hiding app .connect the phone in usb debugging mode and disable all the sprint apps u find in the list. That activate device will disappear

Just connect to a pc and download the bloatware hiding app .connect the phone in usb debugging mode and disable all the sprint apps u find in the list. That activate device will disappear

Thanks bro.I just changed the name of dss.apk to dss.bak inside system/priv-app and that removed the "activate device" options.

Same problem. Here .. Device screen top portion flickers a lot sometime.
Phone will boot with charger connected. If not only boot to htc logo . bootloader mode can be acessed without charger .was on SROM. flashed MM RUU. And still same . getting 6 hr sot just day before the issue arise .
I think its a battery issue . i tries flasing the ruu twice but same behaviour from custom rom and stock ruu . have u got anu solution ??? Rply asap. I am going to replace battery soon .

I was having a battery issue and I got that battery replaced. Now it shows over 22hrs of backup.
And I didn't buy it from ebay, I got it from my brother.

For how much ?? From where ?? There is no htc care in my area and local shops doesnt have battery for this phone .. Can u share the repair process so that i can also arrange a battery

Problem with battery drain

hi guys..
i have battery drain on my oneplus 3T.
i had about 20% battery drain during night when wifi and data are of.i use franci kernel r13 on oos 4.0.3 and i hadnt any issue or drain last few days.
so i installed betterbatterystats to find which app is eating battery...
result says quick pic is the problem ! but i don't know how to stop it ...
i just played some videos and some in dual app mode.
- pls help me how to stop qiuck pic from draining.
- pls tell me some alternatives to qiuck pic for gallery.

the importatnt is i don't know how & why this happened ! and what is that problem ! :laugh:
i cleared cache - data - force stop - reboot ..... nothing helped.. just uninstalled and installed again and it got fixed ....
strange problem.

I'm not that much of a specialist but you know... It's just Android. Although it's great it's not perfect and now and then it's good for it simply to start clean

Clean with recovery mode, in the option " wipe cache", them
You can go to settings- accounts- / in the tree dots upper right unselect automatic sync
Please, you try with forcedoze, if you don´t want to root you can enable with adb command, be sure about the OS version, with nougat you need to use a different adb command
You can try too with greenify
