[HELP] Moto X won't uninstall ROMS - Moto X Q&A

Hello XDA,
I've been waiting quite a while for my Motorola Moto X (1st Gen) to receive a Lollipop update. Sadly it has been about 3 months wait, so I decided to download a few roms to flash onto my device - CM12 and Liquid Smooth (LS).
The recovery I use (TWRP) has constantly failed on flashing them. And CWM has not worked either. The only interesting thing that occurred was that TWRP restarted at the beginning of the Flashing process for LS Rom.
Does anybody have any idea what the problem is? Or am I the only one to encounter such a problem?

What should I edit it to?

Instructions are given in resurrection remix rom.
Don't unzip it though.
Open it directly in winrar on pc and edit the file there itself

Did you follow the instructions and boot up cm11 first all the way before flashing cm12? Twrp worked fine for me.

[q] help! Moto g 2014

Hi,
I forgot to do a backup of my rom on the moto g 2014 and i tried to flash AICP - 8.0 - LP 5.0.2_r1 titan - UNIFIED.
The problem is that when i flash it and reboot the device, the rom keeps loading and nothing happens.
I have an XT1068 with TWRP recovery.
I tried to reflash it and it just keeps doing the same.
I don't know what to do now since I don't have other roms and even a back up of the original ROM...
What can I do? I don't have a micro sd card too..
Please help me.
I've heard of sideload but I don't know how to do it properly.
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.
Stand by
Good luck
Fastboot the newest factory image from the google site using mfastboot. There are guides on xda with detailed procedures on how to do so. Don't worry its not a big deal or problem, just do a little reading on how to use fastboot commands and you'll be fixed up in no time.

Software update on Moto G 2nd Gen. XT-1068

Which current version of android do u guys have?
I have moto g (2014) 2nd gen [XT-1068 model] and Android 5.0.2 on it. When I go to system updates it shows:
"New system software avaliable!"
New version: 22.56.3.en.DE
When I try to update it stops on halfway it after boot I get the message something like: Software update unsuccessful no changes were made."
Yes, my device is rooted via KingRoot and interesting is that when I try to find updates via USB cable and Motorola device manager. Device Manager says that there are no updates found. *WHAT?*
I managed to remove root permission (unroot) but the update always fail.

Don't use kingroot. It's a risky method and nobody really knows what it does (except searching for exploits). It may change things in your system that are not reversible.
To root the Moto G 2014 unlock bl, flash twrp and then flash latest superSU or use chainfires autoroot. These are the only solid methods.

But, umm how can I update to latest android or should I say, am I able to uptade it on higher version than 5.0.2?
you can try it with this tool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/official-stock-firmware-5-0-2-lxb22-46-t3019612
I have the same issue. I have downloaded update and and let it install. when it reboot to install the update it reboot in to twrp and gives an error in the log; after I normally reboot through twrp the phone turn up and after a while it reboot in to twrp show to fix this?
if you use ota update(stock-rom) you need STOCK RECOVERY.
twrp doesn't work because its a custom recovery

Same problem here. Moto G 2014 XT1068, rooted and no twrp. The update in recovery makes it till halfway, then it shows an error and Andy with a red exclamation mark and the phone reboots. After that, MOTOROLA OTA shows a message that something went wrong and no change has been made.
Got the update message, let it install without knowing it would brick with TWRP.
Now I got a automatic boot into TRWP, I choose reboot to system, it goes pass the lock screen and then.... automatically reboots into TRWP again. I'm in a loop, what do to? Would like some help please. Would a wipe as a last resort solve this problem?
update: I decided to restore a rom backup using TWRP, no more official updates for me unless there's another way of doing it correctly.
What a joke... 3 months to release a security update... Android 6 only next year... Update fails apparently because the phone is rooted... Thank god nexus 5x has come out, bye bye motorola
unroot your phone and make sure that you are using stock recovery.
I did exactly the same mistake today.
My solution was to flash SuperSU in recovery, delete cache and dalvik and reboot the phone. The phone reverted the update and everything looks fine for now. Now it prompts me again for the ota update.

You could use the SuperSU app and do a full unroot using the app, do the update and reflash SuperSU.

No, that's only if you have rooted stock. If you're on a custom recovery you'll need to flash stock.
But I do have custom recovery I have only rooted it with KingRoot.
So if I want OTA update I have to do this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/official-stock-firmware-5-0-2-lxb22-46-t3019612
EDIT: Bruh it's works as a charm. I've flashed stock rom and OTA update passed.
Thnx guys.
I received the notification OTA update for stagefright patch few days ago, I downloaded, but when the device reboots the installation fails. The system version is: 22.21.28.titan_retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03 reteu. The build number is LXB 22.46.28. I had a chat with a Motorola techcinian two days ago and he informed me that my phone is rooted and that’s is the reason that I cannot get the update.!!! This is really strange, because I NEVER try to unlock the bootloader. My phone is not rooted . The indication in fastboot mode shows 0.

Just do what i did. From previous post.
Question: OP, did you UNROOT the device and then flash the update via fastboot, or not?
And, one more thing: Did it wipe everything on your phone? I read the readme file and it says that it does not, but I find it strange to flash the rom from scrath and keep your files, apps etc untouched.

How to flash any MM from Blu Vivo XL stock 5.1

My Blu Vivo XL has original stock 5.1, rooted. Since bought it has two OTA I believe, 2nd one is MM. However since rooted I cannot apply OTA, even used SP-flash to flash back to full stock recovery and unrooted stock ROM. I also got a 100MB update.zip from cache(should be 1st OTA from Blu) but neither TWRP nor stock ROM can flash that zip file.
Now there are a lot of 3rd party ROMs come out, all they need to be MM based ROM to flash. How can I flash my Blu Vivo XL to any MM? Is there MM image I can flash through SP-flash?
Thanks!
Try this
Upgrade to latest MM, then see:

Not sure why you cannot flash back to 5.1. If you already have Marshmallow, then follow the thread at:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/viv...allow-t3512157
The scatter file and recovery file (which is "Philz") at the download site then can be flashed with SP Flash Tool.
Many many thanks to lacobIonut-DW. Did I say many thanks?? Thank you lacobIonut-DW for this.

No I have stock 5.1 now, and searched long time but cannot find a way to manully upgrade to MM. Without MM I cannot flash any fun customer ROM in this forum.
As 1st post said, I cannot use OTA to MM even after restored to stock ROM 5.1+stock recovery. So any suggestions on how to manually/force to flash MM is welcome.
Thanks!

My error - I'm not sure why you cannot get MM update over wireless, not you did not have a stock 5.1 ROM. I've gone back-and-forth with 5.1 and 6.0: using Mediatek SP Flash Tool v5.1620.00 and this BLU Vivo XL ROM (Android 5.1) and TWRP 3.0 Recovery:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/vivo-xl/development/roms-t3312297/page2
and Wireless update from 5.1 to 6.0, then flashing (SP Flash Tool v5.1620.00) "Philz" recovery and then rooting MM (as noted earlier) by installing SuperSu.zip. Apparently TWRP can also be flashed to MM using ADB/Fastboot.
I now use only 5.1 because at least 2 of my apps do not fully function with 6.0.
Another option I found useful was Play Store and "DisableService" which gave me the oprtion to disable/enable wireless update in 5.1. I have it disabled.
There are also options to zip MM components (check this forum as well as Google for that, as well as Hovatek, Yahoo and Needrom for possibilities), but that is beyond my knowledge. xda-developers has so much to explore on refining BLU Vivo XL.:good:
Let us know how you make out and if you find any flashable MM ROM

Thanks. I finally got OTA worked and now I have stock MM and Philz Touch V2 on my Blu VIvo XL.
A few questions :
1, The recovery named Philz Touch, but it's not touch version. Did I flash incorrect one?
2, This flash doesn't have ROM backup/restore function?
3, Most important, I used this recovery to flash supersu zip file, tried 2.65, 2.79 and 2.79SR3, all of them reported: Installation aborted.
I've used same 2.79 and 2.79SR3 zips file flashed on many other phones without problem, so the zip files should be OK. What's wrong? which supersu zip you used ?

Too bad I used that MM tWRP flashed this ROM.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/vivo-xl/development/resurrection-remix-os-5-8-2-t3578863
Now it's in boot loop, even I press Vol+ & PWR tried to enter recovery, it doesn't work -- I cannot enter recovery now.
I still can flash through SP Flashtool but is there Blu Vivo XL SP flash-able stock image?

[HELP] ROM flashing error.

I am trying to flash the 7.1.1 AOSP-CAF ROM (https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/aosp-caf-6-0-t3284309/page50) on my Moto G 2014. When I try to install this ROM, it gives an error : Error executing updater binary zip in data/media/zip.( even though the zip file is in the SD card).
I googled it found that some threads suggest updating Custom Recovery or updating the Binary script. but I don't know the exact process to do that.
I am a noob so please help me out here!

Take scrrenshots and send.(snaps can be taken in TWRP as same as normal screenshots in Android)
Nevermind. I updated the TWRP and it worked fine after that.

OMG, what's the point and fix with "Updater process ended with ERROR: 7"

Hey mates,
I am rooting and flashing with several android devices for years.
Today I got a nexus 6 64GB.
It has always been used with its stock rom and has been updated always regualr until the actual android 7.1.1.
I was about to flash cm13 today, as I like cyanogenmod a bit more than lineageos.
Here's what I did after I downgraded to android 6 original google factory image:
1. unlocked the bootloader with fastboot - worked well
2. installed twrp with fastboot - worked well
3. rebooted into twrp and started adb sideload - worked well
4. pushed the cm13 zipfile via sideload onto the device :: returned Updater process ended with ERROR: 7 :: (incompatible DATA thingy)
What is the mess with it? I ca not seem to be able to install CM13. Lineageos is not the option for me.
Are there any ideas, how to fix this for me?
Maybe I have overseen something to do.
Greetings from Germany,
mobshredder

which options to check and uncheck? I'll give it a shot then.
So which partitions do I have to wipe? THX so far
:edit: I formatted all options but not system.. Now it is sideloading perfectly.
So thanks! -closed-
