Going from my RC modeler experience the only way you're going to know EXACTLY how many mah your battery truly has left is to drain it to zero then charge it to 100 then drain it to 0. The more charges the battery takes the less its able to retain.

Hi guys,
Just wondering whether anyone else has bought this for there note 2?.
My arrived today, £9 99 from phoneboy.co.uk and not a good start! One of the clips on the new back casing had snapped off, so on the right hand top side the case doesnt sit flush with the phone, but no deal I can live with that, just cant be bothered returning it. Lol.
So I changed my phone up to 100% and started the new 6800mah battery first cycle, ive gotta say its lasting the same amount of time as the original samsung battery that comes with the phone. But I'm guessing I need to charge the battery a few good times first before I see any difference in its life. And I just hope there will be!??

Update: 1st cycle
Put on charge at 14% due to going to bed. Mainly browsering Internet, listening to music, a few youtube videos. Browsing google play store. Played a few games.
Not really any difference from samsungs offical battery considering its double in power. Hoping thst will change though after a few cycles

If u do not charge it in external charger u will never see a difference. Phone stops charging ANY battery when it gets to a set voltage. Good luck.

I know for a fact they stop charging when the phone "thinks" it has reached capacity. So buy a 1000000 mah battery and charge it in the phone and see no difference.

take the extended life battery, and when first putting in phone, charge for 12 hrs on AC. then discharge down to critical (5%) and charge back up to 100% using minimum 8-10 hr cycles each charge up for first 4 cycles or so. phone will build battery stats and you should see badass life right away.

I purchased an Onite extended battery here and it should be coming in friday. I posted some results of my standard size Onite battery in another thread and had some pleasing results, even though it's still a fresh battery. The 350ma (+-50ma) slow charger that came with my 2 Onite batteries takes about 10 hours to charge one of the batteries (assuming the 3500mah is true), then this means the 6500 mah extended battery will take about 18.5 hours to fully charge through that .35A charger. I don't mind the normal batteries taking long to charge, as it charges a littler longer than I sleep and the slower the better.
Hello, I recently purchased the 3500mAh 3.7V extended battery for my dinc. Can someone tell me what voltage I should charge it up to? I am not seeing amazing results, so I believe that my battery is not completely calibrated. I did run it through multiple complete uses (fully charged, to drain, and repeat) so I don't know what the problem could be. Thanks.

What were you expecting for battery life? Depending on the brand it may not be a real 3500mAh battery. One full discharge and recharge should be enough to calibrate the software though Li-Ion batteries have no memory in them. Check this out. It mentions extending the life on the battery but is still interesting stuff.

Well, from what I was reading about this battery, users got two full days with heavy usage (they described heavy usage to be streaming music, surfing the Web, testing, playing games, etc.) but, this is what I get, and it's the best I got (3 hours display,half an hour talk time). I even went down to gb to see if it would be good, but I didn't see much of a difference. And I did look at battery university a bit, but I didn't delve into the material. I'll check that link out.

Wow, that's pretty abysmal for a 3500mAh battery, especially in a lower consuming device like the incredible. How does that compare to your stock battery? It should be at least 70-80% better assuming that it's not really a 3500mAh battery. It may be a false claim that it's 3500mAh from the makers. I think 4 hours screen time on 3500mAh should be more reasonable for about 35 hours total time. I usually get about 1-3 hours screen time over a period of 10-30 hours total on my Galaxy Nexus. On my Inc on CM7 with stock battery my usage allowed me to go up to 30 hours, usually 20 on a charge with 30% left I think but it's been a while and I don't know the screen on time. It might have been about 2 hours.

Yeah, that's why I am worried. And actually, my stock battery usually have me like a day with good use. When you put it in perspective, my 1300mAh battery gives me about 67% of the battery life that I get from a 3500 mAh battery. Is there any way I can measure the power of the battery? I take physics, so even finding a way to calculate the current, voltage, and/or resistance of the battery would help.

Check batteryuniversity.com, they have a link for calculating the actual capacity, or if you know your model which you should you can Google for actual capacity. Someone probably has posted capacities of a battery.
just going to add that in my experience(I have 3 Dincs), just a 3500 mah battery isn;t going to give you amazing results on it;s own. power management on the Dinc requires some attention. i find that charging the battery in the phone doesn;t necessarily yield a full charge, especially if you are charging it while the OS is loaded(topping it off). so my strategy has been to run my batteries down to empty,replace with a fresh one and charge them in an external battery charger-but not just any charger but a RAVpower universal charger. I have an "official" Seido charger and that doesn;t charge my batteries fully either even though it thinks it has by showing a green LED. I know some people will say that batteries shouldn;t be treated like this and that they don;t suffer from memory effect so you are free to not do what I am doing.
the biggest things that use up the battery is the 3G radio and the Display so of course if you are just using your phone to do stuff non stop of course you'd be lucky to get 4-6 hours of usage. Even if you have your phone doing useful stuff over wifi like checking for email in the background, it does consume battery. but with my phone in Airplane mode(like overseas where I would have no 3G or Wifi), I;ve gotten a couple of days of Standby time.
other stuff I have done is remove any apks in memory that might be consuming cpu cycles and memory. less is more on a limited platform like the Dinc. biggest cpu hogs on my phone believe it or not is Facebook and Amazon App Store(my guess is that it;s periodically checking my licensing for some apps that I got from them). it;s not uncommon for me to boot up the phone and for the battery to go from 100% to 90% in 5 minutes as the phone is initializing and doing whatever it;s doing. then slowly deplete from from 90% to 80% in 8 hours or so.

Your battery gauge is lying to you (and it's not such a bad thing)
So, I looked through all of battery university, but i still have 1 unanswered question. The website states that most Li-ion batteries should be charged to a mximum voltage of 4.20 V. However, does this apply to all batteries? I mean, my extended battery is a 3.7V battery. Was the htc dinc original battery a 3.7 v battery? If the voltages are different, then wouldn't the 3.7V battery need to be charged to a higher voltage so that the potential difference would equal that of the original battery and thus store the same charge? (theoretically)

You could check wake lock detector on the play store to see what apps may be causing a partial wake lock... I know gmail and uccw cam cause a decent wake lock time

There's no official fast charge ROM support available for Galaxy Note.
You can increase the charge speed my optimizing your battery performance. Most Samsung phones take 3-4 hrs for charging depending on the phone state.
Make sure you clear all apps before keeping your phone for charging as any running app can eat up the battery. Look up for any suspicious apps which may be eating up battery.
Use CPU spy to make sure that your phone is going imto deep sleep while charging, if not there's a malicious app which is keeping up the phone awake or there's problem with the ROM you're using.
Also check that your phone is not getting heat up while charging, as it could mean a great power loss which could highly affect the charge time.
If nothing works try changing ROM.
Or at the last case if you are a regular ROM chamger then try to clear up battery stats through some app available from play store which requires root.
One more issue which I once encountered was with my charger cable being faulty( although no signs of physical damage) and I changed it with a locally bought cheap cable and miraculously my phone stopped heating and charged faster.
The more you care for your device, the better it gets.

I checked my 2 Notes, max current it draws is limited by the charging circuit. Seems no kernel can change that value in the Note.
It charges max at 1 Amp, no matter if you attach it to a charger that can deliver like maybe 1000 Amps, the max current is 1 Amp.
That 1 Amp is also until it reaches about 90% ... since Li-Ion is very picky and actually dangerous when overcharging they slow it down.
It's a statement that I hear often in the wrong context : I bought a new battery and it takes very long to charge. Actually that is a sign that the battery has a big capacity. You can only take what you give.

I know how to manage my battery over the course of a couple days, but what about over the couple of years I'm going to own this phone? I can never seem to find any reliable information on this. Do I minimize the number of charge cycles by running the battery all the way down every time, or do I charge it more frequently to avoid stressing it by running it down so low? Should I leave my phone plugged in overnight or is that bad for it? Anyone have any tips to maximize the battery's lifetime, especially with the huge battery in the turbo?
Also interested in this, any help would be appreciated

I did Google it. What I got out of it is : don't run the battery down to zero too often (once a month was suggested). One place said to charge it between about 40 and 80%. I don't think leaving it on overnight is bad. I "think" I read where it will eventually shut off.

Nah that looks about right. Explains while mine went back after 2 days. Just... I don't even know how to stress it enough that the battery was terrible. 6 hours... DEAD.
