[Q] Need help to update phone - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, I have HTC One at&t (Google Play Edition) bought in US with 4.2.2 Version. How to update it to Lollipop ? I don't have at&t sim card here to receive their updates.
Should I update through RUU ? If yes which one should I install ?

Is the update not MID/CID specific? So you should be able to update the software over wifi...
What is your fastboot getvar all? Your MID should be PN0712000 and your CID GOOGL001
If it is those it should work I think...

I used simple CID getter, and i see these
ro.aa.maincid: GOOGL001
ro.aa.modelid: PN0712000
Is it possible to apply OTA without using those flashboot and stuffs ? Just by using ruu exe file ?

Yes, you should be able to just pull the OTA via system update and flash OTA as normal

Just checked there - the AT&T update isn't ready yet
Check http://www.htc.com/us/go/htc-software-updates/#device-content for further updates. When it a out you should be able to just pull the OTA as normal

you will never be able to update your phone, if you have an AT&T phone, you must be connected to their network to update, the only thing you can do is get s-off on your phone and convert it.

S-Off Definitive answer needed.

My device is natively 1.28.61.7 cid ORANG001 (UK EE/Orange/T-Mobile) although my bootloader is unlocked and I have been running custom software since I got it.
I have successfully s-offed my device with revone, removed the tampered warning and set super cid just with the fastboot method.
My question is...Can I permanently 'debrand' my device and continually receive and install stock updates by
1 Changing my cid to HTC__001 by the fastboot method.
2 Running a 1.2x.401.x RUU
3 Receive and install ota updates.
Will this scenario work as I have seen many conflicting answers on this forum and, if yes, do I need my bootloader locked or unlocked??
Also, if this scenario proves to be successful, where would it leave me if a subsequent ota update closes the s-off loophole??
Any informed assistance would me much appreciated.
To completely debrand:
S-OFF
Supercid
Flash a unbranded RUU
change your cid to HTC_001( or one you want)
You will receive OTA and all you need

you DO NOT need to lock bootloader
it can stay unlocked
and you NEED supercid to flash the RUU
after flashed RUU, change you cid to HTC_001

It's HTC__001, not HTC_001 - the double underscore is essential

is changing the CID purely for official OTA's?
I really dont get it if youre running a ROM. heh

If you're on a custom ROM then you don't need to change your CID. It's only if running stock is it important

With Supercid you can't receive Official OTAs, so you have to set your cid to the One that receives updates First! for example, if your hear updates start rolling out in France for the french CID HTC_203, you just have to change your cid to HTC_203 and update via OTA, even if bootloader is unlocked, the most important for official updates is the CID!
If you're going to put supercid, that allow you to rom/firmware/ruu independantely from the CID, but not automatic official updates, just manual ones via recovery or fastboot (ruu).
Hope it clears out things
Regards
So quick question, I also have a Orange handset running 1.28.61.7... did you manage to S-off your device? ?
Just all i can see is there is no S-off for this software variant... please help.
Although when the device has a different model ID then the OTA will not install.
For example if your device has MID PN0714000 and you are trying to install OTA update 1.29.401.X then it will fail.

The software variant your running does not matter.
What matters is the CID and the MID.
I've posted the sections you need to read in the thread you opened.

You need matching mid, cid, and stock recovery. And you are all set.

Yes. As long as you have a cid that is relevant to this version (eg HTC__001) you will receive the ota update when it is released (hopefully today)
Don't forget, you also need stock recovery for it to install.
I'm a bit slow

[Q] OTA Updates?

Hi guys, a friend of mine bought a new unlocked HTC One from UK 2 days before. His phone came with android 4.1.2 and when I check for updates it says: system is up to date....so no 4.2.2 ore 4.3 update
I don't understand why it wont show the new updates and is there any way I can force it to install the 4.2.2 or 4.3 OTA? My friend doesn't what to root or install any custom recovery to do that, so any suggestion?

This is his phone CID and he received the update yesterday. Is it normal to have a new phone with S-OFF and that CID?

you have to be kidding, right?
1- S-Off, maybe, highly unlikely
2- SuperCID -> NOPE
3- new maybe (depends on the definition), maybe the guy at the shop "fixed" it.
4- you will not get any updates with SuperCID
download CIDGetter from Play Store and see if what CID it shows.

I suspected that too but how is it possible that he got updated from 4.1.2 to 4.3?
CIDGetter shows the same CID number.
I got the same problem, my cid is : BS_US001
How do I update ?

[Q] OTA flashing question

I am s-on with everything stock

You cannot unless it's an OTA directly released from your carrier.

You need to be S-OFF to manually flash the OTA file through the stock recovery, or to change CID.
So unless you are willing to s-off your device, the only other option is to wait for the update to be pushed by HTC direct to your phone as usual.

[Q] Having trouble with Lollipop OTA

So I downloaded the Lollipop OTA update and when trying to install I received the following message.
"We have determined that your phone may be running a modified version of its system software. For your protection, we cannot update your phone. Please revert your phone to the official HTC system software to update your phone....etc."
I am just trying to get stock lollipop and be able to install future OTAs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Here some more info on what I am running
Cid: CWS_001
Mid: PN0712000
S-ON HBoot 1.57
OS 6.07.1540.2
Kernal: 3.4.10-g77e9ea0
Baseband:4t.28.3218.04.10.33e.1718.01L
Unlocked and rooted
The phone is originally from at&t and I am currently on at&t

yup I can see what the problem is, but how did you convert to dev edition (OS 1540) with s-on ? that's not AT&T CWS001 firmware, you have mismatches going on there, cid vs firmware
That's what I've been trying to figure out. I'm kind of a noob at this and I probably did something I shouldn't have a few months ago when I tried to convert to developer edition.
I've been trying to get s-off using rumrunner, but with no luck.

your going to have to get s-off using this: http://theroot.ninja/ its the only way to get s-off on HBOOT 1.57, rumrunner wont do it, sunshine will cost you $25
And after you have s-off, follow this little guide to continue your convert to dev edition: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/general/guide-convert-m7-developer-edition-t2840311
That did it! I've been at this for hours. Thank you very much.

Thanks!! This helped me. I have an ATT M7 converted to DEV, but set CID back to ATT to get signal strength working properly. This is the first OTA that refused to load. Setting the CID back to Dev model. Got the Lollipop OTA loaded like a charm. After that set CID back to ATT. Loving Lollipop on an M7 !
