[Q] why is NFC using so much battery ? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I never use NFC and I'm sure it's off, but for some reason in battery it's shown to drain a lot of the battery
my phone is rooted btw

If you never use it, try freezing the service, see if that helps. Because even when (never) I use NFC it never uses that many resources. Or just restart your phone if you didn't already.

Look under settings/more and see if it's off.

Battery drain no matter what i do

Even without sim card, the battery still drains, drained 10% every 5 hours. ( even wifi is off it still drains)
According to BetterBatterystats, the highest wakelock count in partial wakelock before is *backup*, (removed after disabling google backup)
The most wakelock right now is SuperStamina Xssm, it can be stopped after disabling Stamina mode, but even i did , this battery still drains.
any way to solve this? airplane mode also drains battery, basically nothing works from stopping battery drain.
in your screenshot you use wifi right?
Try to switch to GSM only (2G) in network settings and see if there's any difference.

why dont u try app like quadcore sleeper. im using that app n im seeing more decent battery drain. before i use the app if i left it overnight it can drain 12% on nothing, after that app only 3-5% is lost.

hi, can you post your battery usage screenshot and current running app screenshot?
updated to the lastest .245 firmware, lost root, still no improvement, the wakelock (SuperStamina-Xssm) and battery drain still alot, the battery drained from 100 to 54% in 23 hours 40 minutes, without using the phone at all, any solutions?
Help please, it's already half a year i had this problem, and why no people or any helper on this forums wants to help me out? :crying:

How little do you expect the battery to drain? What are the current wakelocks right now? Are they still the same?
Can you use Wakelock Detector instead? The Xperia SP's battery might not be as great as you think....
Let's just calm down, and of course, help can never be demanded. Maybe your phone has a hardware problem that none of us can solve.

Why wait so long?
Take your phone to a sony service center(or where ever you bought the phone) and let them have a look at it, might be that your battery is just not working properly. They will replace if it for you.

they said it's normal for a phone without sim card to standby 2 days without using it
i personally think is software problem, i tried drain the battery down to 0%, then charge it full without break,
after that, the battery drain is just godly, after 2 days left 98%, but then the battery suddenly started to drain like hell,
after 5 hours it became 94%, then it keep draining down as usual.

If all the app draining apps are closed and alsoare bluetooth screen brightness and wifi.
The problem may be deeper.
Your kernel may have flipped and its draining this much battery i am not sure how to check it but i would not suggest you to flash a new kernel right away just because i think thats the problem.

for your information, see this graph, 2 days with good standby, and then went from 95% to 35% in less than 20 hours
this problem is occuring with stamina mode on or off, nothing works

[Q] WIFI automatically turns on \ battery guru for snapdragon

I dont know why but my wifi always turns on, i dont always use it, im using much more mobile data...another thong, ive tried battery guru for snapdragon for 2weeks, and staminamode is also on, it felt like the battery drains faster compared when using stamina mode only. Is it only me?
Ps: running .136 rooted locked bootloadrt by NUT
I had the same problem with Wi-F too. It's Battery Guru, go to Settings and disable Wi-Fi menagement by the app. I solved in this way and mine do not turn on anymore and battery stay up much longer.
its a known bug with the app.

my galaxy s3 i9305 consumes a lot of battery

I have a problem with my phone. The battery precents gets low very fast. Its not problem with the battery because I checked it. Maybe I should change rom?
With a rooted phone you could try xposed framework and deep sleep battery saver. I have very good results.
Also check with wakelock detector that no process is hindering deep sleep.
S3 screen is consuming very much battery though.

Have you had the phone for long? What rom are you running? Has it only recently started chewing the battery?
If you have installed any new apps since the battery was fine, maybe might to be to blame. Also some i9305's have issues with the antenna and will use up a lot of battery if you are in an area where the signal isn't perfect.
Also check what it says is using your battery in battery stats in settings.

OK, if internet and android system use up the most of your battery, then it sounds like you have a fairly high usage or some app(s) are running in the background, in which case changing roms probably won't make that much difference. Check out @MaHo_66 's guide for rooting/recoveries etc here -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...covery-i9305-cwm-philz-twrp-versions-t2694249
This will start you on flashing etc. And check out the forums for info on the different roms. Other users will hopefully suggest ones to try
PS - read rooting guide carefully and follow the steps!!
If your ROM allows you to, try to deny "Keep awake" permission for some apps especially Google Play services. Otherwise you can use Greenify.

[Q] Battery Reduces From Full to 80% After Charging?

I bought a new Moto G 2nd gen a week back and I am experiencing this problem from a few days ago.
The battery reduces from 100% to 80% or 75% in minutes after unplugging from the wall socket. WiFi and data were turned off and the brightness was around 20%.
I asked around on the internet and the suggestion received was to calibrate the battery. Is this the solution or is it a battery problem?
The only best solution is to recalibrate your battery using apps found on playstore.....but this method requires ROOT which will cause a warranty void.
The only non NON ROOT method available is discussed on this site :- http://www.androidpit.com/how-to-calibrate-the-battery-on-your-android-device
Hopefully this should fix your battery......:good:
My suggestion would be to let battery run out of juice completely. Let it power off by itself, wait a few minutes and just connect the charger without turning the device on manually. Let it charge to 100%, turn the device on, and see if the issue persists.

Let me quote Monty Pythons argument-scene: YES THERE IS! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQFKtI6gn9Y)
You can charge the Moto G offline without any trouble. The only times i see that this would not work is when the moto g is connected to the pc via usb. There seems to be some problems. But with a normal charger i never had any trouble to charge the moto g without turning it on.
Open up the battery menu & tap the battery graph.... What do you see? If there's any battery drain, you'll see a thick bar in the "awake" section... "WiFi" is on a lot or all the time? Since you got it a week ago, and assuming you aren't rooted, "scanning always available" is ticked in your WiFi settings. Untick it.
If you still have lots of drain, in that particular menu, check which app is eating a lot of battery... If its anything other than screen, phone or android system, *boom*, you found your culprit.
PS - All Moto phones (E, G, G2, X & X2) have a fast discharge between 100 to 80%, but it'll stay at 60-50% for hours on end (with usage).

Tremendous battery drain on WIFI

Hey guys, I am running stock 4.0.3 rooted with supersu and using the latest franco kernel. I am getting massive drains even while using the phone on wifi and keeping it on standby, while connected to wifi. Getting drains about 3.3-4% per hour on standby on wifi. This is absolutely crazy. I tried some older suggestions mentioned here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62074306&postcount=118 . But even that doesn't work. Battery drain is normal on mobile data, but when connected to wifi it absolutely goes crazy. Can anyone provide any insight? There are no rogue apps, I have been checking through better battery , wld , accu battery, etc.
You've probably already turned it off, but I'll just point it out in the rare instance, but make sure scanning is off. However, I did notice that you said it is when wifi is on and your phone is sleeping when you get that drain. A fix is to go into wifi settings and under "Keep Wi-fi on during sleep", pick the only plugged in option. Ideally, you should get to the bottom of this issue, but if you don't have the time and no one else figures it out, this may help.
EDIT: I wonder if smart wifi switcher has anything to do with it? Wifi connectivity fluctuates and if you have two connections that have very similar signal strength, would your phone constantly switch between the two networks in a futile manner? If this does happen, I can see that draining your battery significantly, but this is based on the premise that the switcher does not have some type of buffer zone where it does not switch if the difference is negligible.

Yep, I always keep scanning off! And i did try with that suggestion too, I changed the setting to never and it still drained battery. Wifi stayed on for sometime even though i set it to never and then finally turns off after a period of time, but i think that could potentially drain more battery? Are you using wifi all the time? What are your stats?
I have all those settings turned off, smart switcher, ipv6, scanning, etc

Last thing I can think of is trying to use stock kernel to see if it is FK that is the culprit. FK shouldn't be the issue, but perhaps something screwed up during the flashing process? Now I'm essentially just asking you to do trial and error

It's most likely not just you, but based on my perusal of the 3T forums (especially on the FK thread because that's most relevant to how you set up your phone), not many people are facing this issue. Does betterbattery stats not show anything funky or out of the ordinary? Can you post a screenshot of your betterybattery stats including the kernel wakelocks, alarms, and partial wakelocks page?

I'm beginning to think it's not wifi, but the app Saavn. It may act differently when on wifi vs on cellular data and remain active constantly when on wifi. I google searched the app and its potential of being poorly optimized app, and there are reports of it never turning off and running in the background. If that is the case, it should be showing up on BBS as more of a drain, but for some reason it isn't. Still, try uninstalling the app and see what happens.
In the end, if this doesn't solve the issue, I'm beginning to think a factory reset maybe in order. I wish you also gave me BBS alarm wakeups page because that would help see if Saavn is constantly firing off alarms or not.

I don't have any option to turn off wifi calling in there. I am running the beta 7.1.1 now though. But the problem still persists. Too much drain when using wifi, it's being shown as android system drain. I've seen many people reporting it, so it's not just me. But for the life of me, I can't figure out what's causing it!
Issue resolved with latest 4.1.0 and some usage pattern changes. Mod, please close the thread. Thank you!
