I just manually upgraded to 5.1 (rooted and encrypted) and have run into a problem accessing the shortcuts and settings menu when swiping down on the notification bar.
Right after rebooting, if I swipe down on the notification bar I see the shortcuts (WiFi, BT, hotspot, etc) and am able to click on the gear symbol to access the settings menu. The problem is when swiping down again, I only get a "No notifications" message. When touching the profile icon, I don't get the settings menu either. Also, I no longer see the priorities selection when using the volume button, only the slider.
I looked through the settings and did not see any options for enabling/disabling the shortcuts/menus.
Appreciate any help!
Thanks
That's very weird.
Post a screenshot.

Please post a screenshot of the volume issue.
I've tried the double swipe but I still get no menus. I've also noticed that I get no notifications showing up in the bar. I hear them but they don't show up. I also no longer have the swipe to unlock feature on the phone even though it's set for it.
I've also flashed it again manually and still no joy.
Thanks
If you're here its not user error, you should try and factory reset.

hello all i am having an issue that is way more annoying than anything, on the today screen in the upper right hand near where the X or the drop down options menu there is my bars for signal and speaker icon and 3G icon ...only half my reception bar shows up and my speaker icon and battery icon dont show up at all. i have tried restarting uninstalling all my htc_home and reinstalling but nothing gets the icons back ...if i press in that area i can adjust volume its just a lack of the icons if anyone has any ideas how to correct this id love to know! other things i use are wizard_retouched, i have kaiser tweak, and pocket toolman...which i noticed this time is when my icons half went away is when i went to use pocket toolman i have uninstalled and reinstalled everything back down to bare bone but nothing worked. i would love feed back so i dont end up throwing this against a wall.. Wanted to edit because sometimes the speaker icon will come back then go away after my phone sleeps and when i wake it up its back to the half reception bar / no speak/battery icon....thanks.

The icon right above your screen is from HTC task manager.
just kaiser_tweak and pocket toolman which allows some basic stuff..but i didnt change anything before the icons just vanished....and i have since uninstalled them...well kaiser u dont uninstall but ya kno...
Try disabling htc task manager.
Start - > Settings -> System -> Task Manager -> Button -> Enable Quick Menu on Today screen. Put this off. And see if this helps.
I think I had the same problem but I cant remember how did I solve that, sorry.But I think its something with registry(hiding some icon on the bar).
So far it has come back BUT i don't kno if it is going to stay but hopefully works, i have had the problem but i do not remember how i fixed it either...since i disabled the quick icon thing..it looks all naked in that corner but that is fine id rather have my battery icon back =) ty

Hi,
Each time I enable mobile data, a dialog pops up reading:
"Allow mobile data? Additional charges may apply......... Cancel / OK"

Is there anyway to disable/bypass this message as it's annoying I have to tick ok each time I want to turn on mobile data.
Thanks in advance,
PS running stock rom
I noticed that problem too and would be interested in a solution for that. But i don't know how to solve that...:/
Get a widget that turns data on. I'm using Power Toggles and I don't get the question, only if I enabled from the top status bar icon.

Thanks - good to know, but I'd rather just stick with using the top status bar.
I wonder if Elixir2 can block it, much like it blocks the 'data off' notification as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39570962&postcount=13
Wouldn't know what setting to look for in Elixir2 though.
Cheers
I also like to use original Sony widget..any possibility to disable? Also disabled the notification when you turn it off with elixier..but dont Know which File to disable..

This is bugging me as well. I think this can fixed with root. I have no experience in development so I can't tell you for sure, but if one can change the size of navbars, then skipping this message should be accomplished by changing a 1 into a 0 somwhere in the code.
Have looked through the other services in Elixir2 and nothing obvious stands out to turn off this Cancel/OK dialog on activation of data. It's incredibly annoying!
(have successfully disabled the notification after turning it off)
Would love to know which flag it is I need to disable...
1. Can I remove the text from the Quicknav bar in any way? Just leave the icons?
2. Can I get a separate link to the 'Quick settings' page that I can get to by pressing the top right of the status bar (around the battery/clock area - it gives me the wifi toggle option). Using NTMM, the actions for the Statusbar are 'default' but I do not know what the default option actually is. And if I can remap it to the quicknav bar for instance.
Cheers

OK, as a compromise I have done this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
To do this, I backed up the apps that I wanted to change, then decompiled them on my PC, changed the app name and the main icons, recompiled and signed, and reinstalled. ( I had to uninstall the old versions first). For gmail,, I edited the apk in the ntgappsattack folders, and reapplied this patch from nookmanager again (no uninstall necessary). After mapping the apps to the quicknav bar (using ntmm), a reboot is required to update the bar.
FYI, the apps are L7, Opera mobile, Coolreader, Gmail and ES file explorer.
To remove the names, I could remove the app names, though this is not perhaps the best idea (though doable... if in doubt rename the apps a different number of spaces, so they have something... for instance my L7 'Home' app name is actually '_Home_' so as not to confuse teh system with the Nook 'Home', and the name will stay centred.
Hi guys,
My Galaxy S4 just "died" and I decided that I'm over paying big bucks for high end smartphones when today's smatphones are just as capable. So I've bought a second generation Moto 4G but I have some doubts:
- When I press the ON/OFF button to turn off the phone it only shows me "phone off" or something like this...on my GS4 it used to let me choose from "phone off", "airplane mode" and "restart". Can this button be configured to act like this?
- On my GS4 the notification bar was just awesome. I pulled it down and I could instantly turn on/off the WI-FI, 4G, set the phone to only vibrate, set the phone to airplane mode, set the display's brightness to low during the ninght. Can I configure the notification bar to act like this?
- When the battery is charging the notification bar doesn't show the percentage. Can this be changed?
1) No, you'll need to use custom ROM or Xposed in order to do that. It is not customizable by default on Lollipop.
2) Yeah, just pull down again once you're in the notifications area. You can also pull the status bar down with two fingers at the same time, that will also open the quick settings.
3) The battery percentage can be found on the Quick Settings part of the notification shade, which you can access by using the methods I pointed out above. The battery percentage also shows up on your lockscreen while charging, right next to the icon.
If you wish to have the battery percentage shown at the status bar at ALL times, download Battery Percent Enabler from Play Store. It does not require root or anything else.
Hope I helped.
Do you have KitKat ot lollipop.
Using xposed you could.
Use two finger and xposed
Use xposed.
I cannot see the "set phone to vibrate" anywhere here. I don't want to have to install a custom rom to do something as basic as the stuff I've described. If it comes to it I may install apps that can do what I'm looking for but this stuff is so basic that installing a rom is just pure overkill.

This is the GS4's taskbar. Not only you can have those functions I've mentioned above but as you can see you can choose a bunch of other functions
Just click on the bell in the upper left corner and the phone will change to vibration mode.
For tweaks in the notification area you can root your phone and follow the hints of my preposters.
But there are a lot of apps in the playstore to rearrange or change the notification bar,most of them need root privileges but not all of them. Here´s an example: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle&hl=de
And as you see by the vibration mode,some features are not visible at the first glance, every phone is different and you may find some things by just using it.
I'm having issues trying to get my text message preview (also battery fast charge notification) to show in the notification bar.
They worked prior to the update, now they just won't show. I get the icons, but no text preview. I've made sure that under:
System Settings > (Apps) Messages > Notifications (on) > Preview message is checked on (i've even toggled it).
I've wiped cache, powered on and off....Still nothing.
I'm I going to have to bite the bullet and factory reset? I'd super really not want to but if I have to, then I have to.
Okay so did T-Mobile remove the feature then?
http://phandroid.com/2015/05/11/sam...-from-displaying-preview-in-notification-bar/
If you have no clue what I'm talking about, look here at the middle picture above the pop-up notification and the last picture on the right (what I'm trying to accomplish):

http://recomhub.com/blog/android-6-0-marshmallow-how-to-turn-on-and-off-preview-on-galaxy-s6/
In these steps they spell out how to turn it on and off. However I am now missing one KEY feature...The Status Bar check box. I was able to see the previews before and I really liked it because I didn't have to open the messenger app to read the message unless I really wanted to. Now I have to just to see who sent me the message.
Samsung Galaxy S6: How to Enable or Disable Message Preview
1. Turn on the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge
2. Go to the menu of the Galaxy S6 and select on Settings
3. Browse for Applications and select on Messages
4. Select on Notifications
5. Now look for a section called Preview Message
6. You’ll find two boxes, one with “Lock Screen” and the other saying “Status Bar”
7. Uncheck the boxes that you don’t want the Preview Message to show up in anymore
Can anybody else confirm this? Those of you have not updated yet can you please verify is the Status Bar option is there or not?
*edit*
I understand that these instructions are for the S6 but its really the only thing I could find for regarding Marshmallow and Samsung.
Whew! got that one figured out. All good.
