[Q] Google Photos? - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want, nay, need, the Google photos editing tool. Is there a way to trick the G+ app to just not need Play services? These services are the ones that download editing tools, so ita probably not possible, correct?

Which kindle do you have? because the kindle fire 1, doesn't even have a camera
Sent from my XT912 using Tapatalk

It's the latest generation, not sure if three or four.
Anyone remember the name of the Snapseed-like photo app Google had before it (photo app) got integrated into Google Plus.. It was separate.. Called.. Aufo Awesome...? Can't remember! Need that apk.
I don't think installing G+ app even with Google services creates a photo icon on my Kindle.

Kindle Fire HDX 7in or 8in?
Sent from my XT912 using Tapatalk

Kindle Fire HD 7 4th generation. Fire OS 4.5.3
Aware I can't root. There's probably no way to hack these Google apps to not look for Services and Identity etc. I'm looking for the Google Photos app as it was before G+ integration... Or if some genius can think of the way to create a seperate apk of the Photos app.

Aptoide on Kindle Fire HD 7. Anyone had success?

As stated in the topic, has anyone here had success using Aptoide on the Kindle Fire HD 7?
I have tried installing several versions as well as adding the main and other various repos etc. The app itself goes through the server lists updating and each time nothing shows up. No icons or app list to look at.
If anyone has got this to successfully run, update, and download files, please post a comment or feedback here. Would like to know what needs to be done if it's possible.
I had one that worked fine forgot where I got it from

Mine works fine and it's just the default app but I am rooted

I went to aptoide.com using the Kindle Browser and installed. Aptoide runs fine for me. Used Aptoide as an alternative until I had time to root my device.
I went to aptoide dot com and it basically asked me if I wanted tl dl the application. It works fine.

AW: Aptoide on Kindle Fire HD 7. Anyone had success?
Google aptoide, open side, install aptoide, done
Works great for me. App compatibility can be hit or miss, but most work like a charm.
Just make sure you download it from the site. Painless installation and runs great.
I had aptoide when i get my kindle in november.

I have it installed on my Kindle too. Works perfectly.

Google services disabled though...
I should work for the kindle...the only thing is that since the kindle is from Amazon...not google...so some off the apps that allow google play (Example: Clash of clans) You won't be able to login because a kindle doesn't hold google play services. Example: CoC you won't be able to load your town hall from google. There may be a way to put google services on kindle...It IS possible!

Another way is to use twisted home manager from play store.

What I did was move the Kindle app out of the system folder with Titanium Backup (requires root). I may not have needed to do that because my next step was to "backup and uninstall" (again with Titanium Backup). I then went to Google Play/Market and re-installed from there. Now it works fine.
Update: you do have to change Kindle app from a system app to user app if you want to do a "backup/uninstall". Another option may be to just do a "force remove", but I wanted to have the app backed up.

While removing the built in Kindle App and installing the Play Store version does allow you to launch it directly, it is not the same app. The Play Store version does not have the Kindle specific features such as X-Ray and Text-to-Speech.

Is there a way to get this Kindle Fire version of the apk running on other android devices? I'd love to get my hands on the X-Ray feature.

I asked this same question once...

This is a question that has been brought up and looked into since the first generation KFs. Many skilled developers have looked into the issue and the answer is always the same...
While it may not be impossible to port apps like the launcher, reader and Silk to non-Amazon ROMs, the work involved would be way more than what it's worth.

Thanks Ph0enix. I figured as much. I also discovered that this past December, Amazon updated their iOS kindle app to have the X-Ray feature. It's a little disappointing that they're hanging the general android base out to dry. I could see if the point of withholding features was to drive more sales of their Fire tablet but now iPhones and iPads are (costly) alternatives.

[Q] Google contacts replace Amazon

I have tried so many things to get google contacts on my 7", to no avail. I would love to be able to manage them from my kindle directly, and not have the amazon contacts app that needs registration with amazon. Not no way, not no how am I doing that.

That link is very useful. Indeed, when you open it on your phone or tablet, it automatically opens a Chromecast section in Play Store. :good:
Google should give visibility to this Play Store section because it can't be found unless you open the Chromecast app.
Thanks for link

Quick question... not sure if this is the right venue - but I have ROOTED 2 chromecasts with HubCap. I understand the advantage to root - but is there any apps or Roms out yet that offer additional functionality that takes advantage of that root? I have Eureka on both of them - but oddly I can't seem to find out what the advantages of this root are (i was assuming the ability to cast the entire screen or non-google-certified apps...) but I can't find anything on it... or is this like the Android marketplace where apps are notating that it is specifically for root? Anyone's help on this would be appreciated and thanks for the app links to the chromecast market...

nothing over there... actually what I need is the one that says youtube.com in white font with a blue background, it come from amazon app store, but not google play store.
the google play store one need the google framework to login , otherwise it will not work anymore. The one from amazon can login itself, don't need the google framework, that means I needn't to root it...

Thanks a lot. It is really helpful.
If it is possible, would you please also upload the version for Fire TV Stick, the size is 16.2MB and link is
http://www.amazon.com/youtube-com-Y...e=UTF8&qid=1446825529&sr=1-8&keywords=youtube
cause my smart TV don't have google service, I have no way to root it, but I really want a youtube on it. I think this might be a solution.
Thanks again.
