Running factory image of 5.1 lollipop. My camera (video) in the front is acting bizarre. Everything is being displayed upside down with video.
Any suggestions? In not going to do a factory reset so skip that suggestion.
This is a clean install and it it do it on 5.01 and 5.0.
Are you facing that problem with stock google camera?
Because I'm facing same problem with other 3rd party camera apps.
And I'm still on 5.0.1.
That's exactly what I'm dealing with

I have the moto g 2nd gen dual sim.
For some reason when i put custom roms on, only the fron camera worked ? So i put stock firmware back on and still the camera is not working, ive tried factory reset, also tried updating through the play store etc etc, still cant find what the problem might be.
Also no little icon on screen to switch between front and back (back being selfie mode!!)
I have the same problem...even after installing CM12, the problem remains.
Same here, I have lollipop 5.02 stock on an XT1064. No selfie camera available. I swear it was there when I was on 4.4.4.
I downloaded an app called "Z-Device Test" and it says there is no secondary camera present.
I've had LP since the soak test and just noticed this now, so I guess I won't miss it.

I have only started to use the front facing camera and noticed that it is constantly crashing. Once I switch to front facing mode, I can't revert it back to the other camera. I have to go into SETTINGS/APPS/ and delete the camera data and then set up the app again. I downloaded 3rd party apps as well as using Facebook, once an app triggers the front facing camera, it crashes and gets stuck.

Most likely a hardware issue. RMA.
I recently bought a a fairly used Z1 from a local dealer.
After a few days of use, I started noticing that the rear camera randomly gets blurry for distant shorts. Nevertheless, if you take close up shots i'ts fine. The front Camera is also fine.
At first I wondered if the issue was with the Background defocus app, I installed. I have removed it cleared the device and camera cache but the camera is still as it is.
Also some days the camera is fine with no issues as I've taken great photos with it.
I need help to sort out the issue if it's a hardware or software issue and if I can fix it or I should return it since I have a 3 months of guarantee.

Thank you for your help in advance.
Check if my tutorial helps you
did you try to clean install latest stock rom?
clean install means to wipe everything and flash the stock rom
Try Google Camera. If it keeps getting blurry, it can be a physical problem.
My camera hasn't been working properly since updating for 5.0.1. Everything's blurry and doesn't seem to focus. I managed to take one photo once after clicking around the focus for 5 minutes, but it was the only time it happened.
I already tried a factory reset and it didn't work. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix or should I try going back to 5.0.0?
Downgrade to 5.0 or even 4.5.1 and check if camera works there. If it does, then it might be that your phone doesn't like this update
Hello,
since my camera app is not working, same with apps that use the camera.
The problem is when i'm on the main camera i get a black screen (an absolute black, like if there is no signal) and the shooting button is not working. The camera works fine for selfies instead but when i switch to the rear cam the app freezes. I tryed everything from clearing data/cache, unistall and reupdate the app, nothing works even after the january update.
So whats the solution? Google team can make it to fix or do you think Is an hardware problem and i have to ask for a new unit?
It definitely looks like a hardware failure. The only thing you can try is to factory reset the phone if it still doesn't help - place a warranty claim.
