@jinx0117 you tried to Odin back to G78oA correct? Let me know exactly what you did? Did you do a complete system wipe including ex SD card?
After using Odin to flash the stock NE4, I rebooted and then used towelroot to root my phone, then shut it down and flashed the update of OA1 using Odin. Let it reboot. I put Safeatrap on my SD card, went into the phone and loaded or installed it from there. Rebooted into recovery, Flashed 3 mint into stock slot, and rebooted. A screen came up with a sad looking robot saying Safestrap was not enabled....and I hit continue........Unity Rom I downloaded and put on my sd card into the stock slot, which I though I wiped, loaded Unity Rom in there, then tried to reboot, got the safe safestrap screen but this time said enabled and went to Galaxy S5 Active Screen......and it has been there ever since. I can no longer get into Safestrap, I tried a full wipe through it before it dissipated....Tried to factory reset through the recovery on the phone but that did nothing as well. I can only get to the Odin area and The stock recovery area......so currently I am without a phone....It doesnot even charge......

I have a peculiar problem.
I flashed a Doc Rom yesterday. After restarting the phone simply will not go past Black white samsung screen. I thought something might be wrong and flashed JPY firmware using odin. It was successful. But everything is fine except that the phone will not go past the Galaxy S boot animation screen. When I went to recovery mode it is showing an error message which goes something like this" cannot mount media. sd card requires preparation. go to the UI and format and boot options." I have got 3 button recovery as well as download mode. Is it possible to correct this error using ADB? Can somebody guide me. I am desperate as I love my phone very much.
i will not look for the problem cause ... if you have cwm check if lagfix is disabled and flash new rom via "install zip file" in cwm ... don't worry your phone is fine

At present condition, I have no CWM. I have only recovery 3e. Is it possible to flash CVM rhrough Odin?
If you can flash voodoo kernel, that has CMW inbuilt? Then try and figure it out from there?
I solved the problem by doing the following steps:
1. followed this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=807784 and flashed XWJM8 whatever that may mean.
2. Voila after flashing the above with odin my phone restarted with familiar UI.
3. Suddenly I noticed that my phone does not have an IMEI and my sim card not detected. I was tempted to copy my backed up EFS folder and I resisted the temptation. Instead I copied the CWM and Doc's rom which I was using prevously to the External SD and afterwards copied the same to Internal SD.
4. I started my phone in recovery mode and i could see that still the error message was there. But I flashed CWM and again flashed Doc's Rom. After the phone restarted, I found that my sim was detected and everything was back to normal. OMG what a relief it was.
5. Thanks to XDA and it's members for helping me.
if u have root acess (and i hope yes)
u have to restore system, turn off and than turn on pressing home and volume up, 3 bottons in same time, than with volume keys and home choose BACKUP AND RESTORE, than ADVANCED RESTORE and than SYSTEM, if u have maked a backup u have to chose that backup or one of them if u have more. let him restore and choose REBOOT PHONE. now u have phone again.
if u need some help email me [email protected]

Borrowing the tread. I was using CM9 and installed NStools and after a while my phone rebooted and started then froze at my homescreen. I went in to recovery and did a factory reset and the phone worked again. So I tried installing NStools again and got bootloops so I did a factory reset again but now I get bootloops and I can't go in to recoverymode.
My question is can I just flash EZbase 4.0 (Gingerbread) and then flash CM9 directly from it?
Thanks.
Simple as that, I can't find a noob friendly rooting guide. There are many things that I don't know, but the OP expects me to.
I downloaded Odin, booted into download mode and from there I have no idea what to do.
What's the modem for? Do I need to flash it? How do I flash it?
In short, what do I need to do to be able to boot in recovery and flash ROMs/kernles.
Btw, if I booted into download mode can I just take off the battery and reboot the phone? Is it safe?
The screen says Downloading, Do not turn off target!!!
Hello, just in case nobody has answered your question. It is safe to pull the battery in download mode ONLY if you have NOT pressed start in odin. Otherwise you'll damage the phone. Once you start odin, let it finish.
You didnt specify what mobile or tablet you want to root. I'll assume you want to root SGS i9000 because that is where you're posting. Rooting is simple once you do it a few times and become comfortable with it
Heres the guide you want: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1809098

Ok so I managed to root, have CWM installed. I flashed Slim ICS 4.2 and then the phone rebooted itself and goes in a bootloop. When I boot into recovery again and try to mount the sd card, everything was wiped, the sdcard has 5gb free from 5gb, its absolutely clean.

You need to do 3 wipes (Cache, Data and Dalvik) and install ICS rom again...
This happened on an i957. There's a sub-forum for that device, but it's a development sub-forum; wasn't sure which place to post this.
The short of it:
I ODIN flashed a TAR for the official UCLK4 firmware for my i957, but I dropped the TAR in ODIN's PHONE slot instead of its PDA slot. Upon rebooting, my tablet now freezes at the AT&T's Rethink Possible splash screen.
I re-flashed the UCLK4 firmware in ODIN's (proper) PDA slot after I realized my mistake (after doing some research in the i957 sub-forum), but I'm still stuck at the AT&T logo.
Anyone have any recommendations?
The longer version:
I've been running AOKP (JB) on my i957 for a few weeks. It's a huge improvement over Samsung's Honeycomb ROM... but I was only-ever able to get HSPA+ working; was never able to get LTE. Today I saw that Samsung finally released the an ICS ROM for the i957. I wanted to try it out, but I wasn't able to "update" AOKP to UCLK4 using Kies.
I found the flashable TAR for UCLK4 on SamMobile.com, so I downloaded it and followed a walk-thru (on another site) that said to drop the TAR in ODIN's Phone slot. (It seemed weird, but I didn't question it.) I flashed the firmware in ODIN's Phone slot, rebooted, and got stuck on AT&T's Rethink Possible splash screen.
It didn't take long to realize I was following bad advice, and that I should have flashed with ODIN's PDA slot, so I...
Flashed UCLK4 in ODIN's PDA slot. I still had the same problem. I could never get past the AT&T Rethink Possible splash screen.
I tried to re-flash the stock kernel on top of UCLK4, following the instructions here, but that resulted in my tablet hanging after the Samsung boot logo, but before the AT&T splash screen.
I re-flashed UCLK4, and now I'm back to the Rethink Possible splash screen.
I'm still able to get into Download mode, so I don't think I'm bricked... but I'm not sure what I need to do. (Maybe I can use ODIN to reflash a proper PHONE file? Can anyone help me produce this file?) Does anyone have any recommendations?
Same problem. Thought I'd give the official I957 ROM a try, Kies won't work, and when I flashed with Odin, I got stuck at the AT&T splash screen. I did not make the mistake with the PDA / PHONE file on the first run. I did try to flash again with Odin, no change.
The tar file should have included a kernel; a new kernel version is part of the HC -> ICS upgrade process. And the kernel from that other post is probably an HC kernel, which won't work with the stock ICS ROM.
I had the same problem I installed twrp recovery and wiped everything, factory reset, etc then installed ics with Odin and it worked fine after that.

Thanks!
I didn't even have to do the re-install. I rebooted into the stock recovery (power + volume up) and wiped cache and did a factory reset. Came right up into the setup screen.
Great! That would have taken less steps. But whatever way you do it it seems the factory reset is necessary.

i installed the HC stock then flashed this and it worked. i also had the hangup problem but that fixed it.

Thanks! I did a factory reset and wiped my cache and everything is working now. I feel a little ridiculous for not trying that on my own...
In the panic of the moment, I (somehow) just assumed that recovery wouldn't work. One should never assume that!
Thanks
Thanks a lot! I did a factory reset and wiped out my cache and everything is working fine now. :good:
I went through the process of Rooting my phone with the towelroot process. Got superuser installed and running without tripping Knox.
Installed Busybox and Installed safestrap. Knox still not tripped. then backed up my stock rom on my internal drive.. I tried using the default sizes and
installing [ROM] FireNote Mj5 Deodex V14 on ROM 1 slot and then rebooted but it stayed at a black screen with just my blue LED lit up at the top of the
screen. let it set for ten mins like this and nothing happen. so i pulled the battery and booted back up, now im able to get back into safe strap but i can not
find any files of my back up or of the firenote mj5 to try to reinstall it.
Is there a way from here that i can try and put the stock rom back on and start over? like using odin or anything?
Ive had that same problem . You might have to download a rom to your external sd card and flash it in the stock slot cause the extra slots work sometimes and sometimes not . You can change from internal to external sd towords the top in safestrap and your roms might be there. But you need to find out if you were on kitkat or jb cause you cant mix them . Read the rom posts carefuly its very important . Forget the slots til your phone will boot to a rom.

thank you, but how do i get the rom on the sd card. wont i have to format it when i mount it to my phone.
Just do a factory reset to the stock slot and then flash but if your trying to restore your factory rom then go where it says restore if you can find your backup if not then install a rom in the stock slot . Were you on kitkat or jb? You might have to get a computer to download a rom to a sd card from this forum if you didnt have one on there and i dont think you will have to format it the phone will read what its allowed to read by the system witch will be whatever rom you put on it . But if you installed the wrong safestrap and you were on official kk then i dont know how to fix it .you will have to wait till someone with more smarts than me can help you.

I was trying to change roms, and I during Rom installation it just rebooted, first that has ever happened. I shrug it off, then play store starts messing up, so I try to Odin, and for whatever reason it decided to reboot that as well, so now I'm stuck in a boot loop. Suggestions, help, anything at all please......
It was booting up as if it was going into recovery, then just turning off, and repeating the process. How I was able to fix this was instead of trying the full firmware Odin I used this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...mware-firmware-kernel-modem-recovery-t2902574
And used partial, that worked. Now any ideas about it interrupting recovery?
What firmware are you on ? And when you Odin did you use latest firmware ruu
---------- Post added at 12:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:31 AM ----------
Try wiping all except ext SD then wipe dalv and cache then reboot
I did not use an ruu, just the cfroot. At that point my recovery, rebooted and tried to continue while it was installing supersu. It did that multiple times before I knew something was wrong, after awhile I used the partial tar from NK4. Now the play store it force closes when trying to download, and gives me rpc-7 aec 7, then I follow the steps, removing the account etc.... but it does not work. On top of that recovery still kicks me into reboot while I'm trying to install something.
Try pulling the battery, then do a full wipe and then try flashing firmware again.

The problem is Recovery is rejecting everything I try to install, well everything big, I go in to flash a rom and during the installation it literally reboots to the system. That's what happened during full firmware flash odin. I tried to also use flashify to revert to stock, same the recovery green android shows up, but kicks me out anything but a partial flash does not work. Now I'm trying to Odin full stock, and its halfway through.

Start over. Go back and grab the files to flash in Odin. Make sure you got good downloads. Flash back to stock, then re root.
Also did you get the bootloader unlocked before you tried to flash recovery. You may want to run that processes again as well.
Somewhere in your process you got a bad flash. Most likely it is either while you unlocked the bootloader, or when you flashed recovery.
If you don't want to start completely over you can try flashing your recovery again in ODIN. It might be the best place to start.

Successfully flashed stock odin, or so i thought..... Its now stuck in a bootloop from the samsung screen to being able to wipe to get into the phone then reboots. Then went into recovery to wipe. For whatever reason that worked. So far so good, Its finally not rebooting during recovery. I guess I just needed to revert to stock.
