Kdz or tot? What's better? Plus my other question is if with only download mode will the process work? Since I have no fastboot

I suggest the .kdz method. Use the the "Normal Flash" first, which doesn't wipe your internal sd card. If you keep boot looping once the process is 100% complete, it means you will have to get into recovery, and wipe the internal sdcard; this means you will lose your saved data on the sd card.
You can only .tot or .kdz in Download mode, it will not work in fastboot mode.

I have surfed through the internet but rare few people don't have the problem I'm experiancing.
I used ROM Manger to install the CWR on my phone. It only installed Download Mode but not the Recovery itself. The phone was still working then. What made it stop working is that I used RM to backup my current ROM, and here I am. Stuck on the title screen.
My phone is rooted with GingerBreak (Risky I know but it was fine). All I have is Download mode on me.
Is there anyway how to get my phone fixed?
Use this package to restore http://files.teamkomin.com/index.php?dir=i9000SGS/
It will revert all firmware to a bleeding-edge stock version.

How do you use it ?
edit : nevermind : found it in another thread : Heimdall one-click. I haven't used it myself, but it will come in handy.

That's it?
Just put my phone into Download mode and just let it all do the work?
One problem though, don't you need Recovery mode enabled first before flashing anything? I don't have it on the phone but Download mode.
Is it safe without Recovery?

No, you do not. Download Mode is the savior. If you have that, you're good; if you don't, you risk bricking your device. Make sure you always have downloade mode before you start flashing.
And yes, it's that simple. AdamOutler knows his stuff.

So proceed with Download mode only? No need for Recovery?
Bump.
I need to know if I can do this without needing Recovery.
I might have to get Samsung to check it out if I don't get a response. :/

It has already been said that the recovery mode is irrelevant. You only need to have access to download mode.
the recovery mode is good when u need to flash files located on the phone or sd-card and download mode is to flash files located on your pc
If you are gonna flash, you only need download mode...

Sorry, wasn't able to pick up that it was already answered.
Will flash my phone later. Thankyou all for the replies
Will respond if it passed or not.
Update: (Sorry for double post)
My phone has flashed sucessfully. Download mode is still there but no Recovery.
Much better than the JVK firmware.
Thanks alot guys for the help
Update: I'm back to square 1. As soon as I installed CWM onto my phone, the phone is now starting up the intro and not going further.
I tried to install JVT twice now and it won't budge. Is my phone now offically screwed?
Edit: Fixed it. Used Odin and changed the firmware to JVS. Cleared everything too.

Ok so I'm a great newbie when it comes to rooting.
I successfully rooted my phone yesterday, but the GPS and WIFI was stuck on so I decided to unroot it back to its original state.
Not knowing it was a bad thing to do I formatted all of the options on a CWM-based recovery screen.
including the now-known must not do /system
Now, my phone will not start.
I have access to both fastboot and Flash and have tried flashing the default .ftf file for the phone (gotten from this site, so not sure if it is the default one.)
I have tried to connect it to PC Companion but it wont connect, not sure if there's a certain way to connect it to that.
I have put other kernels on to try and fix the problem without luck
Is there anything I can do to fix this or have I well and truly destroyed my phone.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Formatting the system wipes the ROM.
You need to flash a ftf using flashtool or repair your phone using pccompanion.
Look in the all in one thread to find a ftf for your phone and download the flashtool from the first thread in the dev section.
Or if you are using pccompanion, then run pccompanion and click software update. Click repair and when asked to attach the phone then make sure its turned off and keep the volume down button pressed whilst you attach the usb cable. This is the official way from sony

if you have unlocked the bootloader pccompanion will not work.
Try this
Flash doomkernel in fastboot mode in flashtool, then flash any stock based rom in recovery (Try this one from me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2007736 )

Use the latest version
If you can get into recovery now, just flash it in recovery.
If not, extract the boot.img and flash it in flashtool using fastboot mode. You will now be able to enter recovery
Then flash the .zip in recovery to make sure you have the corect wifi modules
Then flash my ROM
I've run into another problem now, I cant seem to access my sdcard from my computer with usb
on normal boot, fastboot, or flash

Do you have an external sd card? Take that out and use a card reader to put the files onto it.
If not, flash the boot.img from doomkernel in fastboot, then you should be able to access recovery.
In recovery you can mount the SD card (Mounts and storage) and you should be able to see the SD card then

The rom is rooted as is the kernel.
You should have a superuser app in the app drawer.
I suggest you make a backup now in recovery and leave it on your sdcard in case anything happens again
Always backup just in case you ****up
Glad you are back in the land of the living again.
I will be updating my rom later in the week so keep an eye out for that

I suggest this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
The guide you are currently using is old, and links older .tot files (the guide even suggests the .kdz method if you are having issues). I suggest the .kdz method, it's quicker, and less setup than the .tot method.
I also suggest you use twrp recovery, and install Roms that way, rather than using the clockwork mod app.
Can you direct me to a thread with the current kdz method? Thanks for your help.

I did. Click on the link in my post.
I am a noob when it comes to android rooting and stuff. My phone is a TMO LG G4.
I rooted my g4 yesterday and it went perfectly. Then I tried to install TWRP. When I flashed TWRP via flashify, it got stuck in a twrp bootloop. I downloaded the LG G4 H811 DEBLOATED ROM from XDA and transfered it to my phone with a cable. Then I tried to flash the .zip file and it gave me an error. I wiped the cache and stuff and tried again. same results. I extracted the .zip file and tried to flash the boot.img file (it was only 32mb). While flashing the boot.img file, it gave me 2 choices and I chose the option to use the rooted partition. Then I rebooted. It said there was no os Installed on the reboot screen.
Now when I turn on my phone, and it is stuck at the LG Logo. I tried hard factory reset and pulling out the battery. It doesn't work. I can't even get into the twrp screen anymore. What should I do? It is emergency.
BTW, this is called bricking, right?
You said you wiped cache and stuff. What is stuff. Did you wipe the data and system?
This worked for me when I foobar'd the build.prop, but might not you. Try the rooting process again.

First things first. Can you get your phone to download mode. With phone off, hold vol up and plug in usb cable to force download mode. IF that works, go here http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G4/H811/H81110H and grab the kdz and flash it to bring your phone back to stock unrooted to fix phone. Then go from there.
Most important, make sure you READ and UNDERSTAND everything before doing ANYTHING. Good luck you got this!!!

Did the phone lose download mode? If you can get fastboot then you can flash TWRP and use it to flash a ROM.
And there is a thread about fixing and bard brick that may help you.
