Solve it? It doesn't make sense to you that a new operating system would use more energy than the previous?
I mean this is exactly what happened from jelly bean to kitkat.

Even if it did happen with those two version of Android (which idk if it did, kit kat seems the same or better to me), it's far from a rule. New OS update doesn't always mean more power hungry.

Pretty much. If you didn't get to use jelly bean in its prime, it was crazy. Battery life was better, so this precise thing happened. People wanted to roll back to it until eventually everyone just bit the bullet and stayed with kit kat.
After its been out for a while, some things will be better, custom kernels ect... Minor optimization increases, but I wouldn't expect the same or better battery life than what kit kat was.
Its not even official released for everyone, give it time.

Sorry, your premise is baseless, while what you're saying about those particular versions of Android is correct, it does not constitute a "rule" as the previous post said. Windows 8.1 for example. Not trying to start an argument, just saying newer operating system versions do not as a rule consume more power.

I misread his post, I didn't notice he said rule. And also didn't realize he was disagreeing with me, so my post means differently than what I intended, also the a in my original post was supposed to be a "the".
It makes sense to me that lollipop consumes more battery than kitkat because kitkat used more than jelly bean on this phone. This was also the case with my old xt912.
I'm not sure why you made the assumption that I feel this way about any electronic that runs an operating system because I didn't. This is a phone forums we are on no?
Surprised that I had that many mistakes in a row with my posting, but equally surprised how critically my posts were taken to try and initiate a debate on opinions.
If you don't feel my opinion is correct based off what we have already experienced on this phone, that's perfectly fine, but this isn't the place for debates.

I'm on a roll with screw ups tonight and I made an assumption, so let me word this correctly.
If you are on the 4.4 bootloader, as in you flash your cloudy ROM with a bumped kernel, not a loki'd kernel, then yes, you can clean flash it.
If you are on the 4.2 bootloader, you need to flash the 27a, 28a, or 39a bootstack, so you get put on the 4.4 bootloader with a bumped recovery.
I don't think 2.7.0 was being used when bump was introduced, so I'm pretty sure my assumption of you being on the 4.2 bootloader is correct. Wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong
All u need bootstack 27a or higher.

Fair enough, I'm glad you could explain. But at the same time you try to call me out saying I made an assumption. I only commented on the words you wrote. An assumption would have been me assuming you meant phone operating systems only.

Just a suggestion, but you can setup up your zip with all the bootstack files from 39A (using the 27A bootloader, and persist.img). Then it won't matter what recovery, or what bootstack the user is currently on. It's an all in one zip where no separate bootstack needs to be flashed. All they have to do is wipe dalvik cache, system, data, and cache before flashing. That's how I have mine setup, and it works great.
Quick Remote?
Did you strip out Quick Remote? I haven't had any coffee, but I don't see it.

yes, can you please make the stock apps as separate addons?
i liked quickremote, memo/memo+ and quick translator.
thanks!!
I also would like the QRemote application available. I like when you get all the LG apps in a big ZIP and can delete the ones you don't want then flash the zip. That method works great.
Can't get those apps to install on zip. Flash full stock rom and then flash my extreme theme.

Computer is working.. Not even chrome worked on my phone.. I've seen a lot about this ROM over at G+
I am getting a "com.android.systemui" loop on start up I can not get past. It seems my only option is to force into TWRP and restore a nanroid. Did anyone else come across this issue?

No idea then, what gapps? I used banks minimal 7-29.
Just want to say so far this ROM is really smooth, and this is the first cm based ROM I've seen that does not have screen redraws in low signal area.

Maybe this is a stupid and/or obvious question but since I've had my G2 I've only been using stock ROMs, but does KnockOn/Off work on AOSP ROMs? I am leaning towards no but want to make sure. Knock-On has almost become second nature now to me. The crack flasher inside me though is startng to get itchy.

Knock on yes, knock off only works on the status bar for aosp.
You can use a third party launcher apex/nova in conjunction with a screen off and lock app and set it for double tap home screen, and its the same thing.
That does not get you knock off on the lock screen, but there's options for that, pic related.
I use pattern for lock screen so anywhere on the three by three area you double tap, it screens off

OK, finally was able to flash this rom, I think I figured out my issue. I like to remove apps I know I will not use before flashing the rom, it seems on this rom, it does not like when you do that...
Has anyone noticed loud distorted sounds from the ringtones and notifications? Normally I have my selections maxed and they never seam loud enough on most AOSP, CM etc.. roms, now they seem so distorted that I have to lower the volume level to half.

Screenies!
So far so good. Starting with a wiped phone started me out with about 3.6gb / 4gb internal storage which compared to the HTC rom is a pleasent surprise. Im on VM and all is well so far. data, voice, ect ect. not sure what else needs to be tested exactly but if i see something i will let you know.
Can you de-odex it?
I posted too soon. Cannot connect to my Moto 360. I cannot recreate the error that popped up but it was something like HTC service cannot ect something something. i wish i could have gotten a screencap of it. Still though lots of space. Snappy and I really like the included launchers. Must wait though until it supports my watch though. Thanks for the hard work man.
I'll look into it tonight. If you could get a screencap that would be really helpful.
I actually forgot I put the launchers in there, I really wasn't intending to. This thing would be under 600mb if I hadn't.

It does. Flashed it myself and was sorta depressed to have 0.90gb available. Once I restored my data backup from my own modded stock rom, then proceeded to uninstall all the HTC crap still left in this Rom (a little irritating) I had LITERALLY no more space than on my own revised Rom. Seems the cap on how much space you can have on stock is just a little over 1gb if you don't install anything else. Bummer...
I also don't understand the quick settings bar if we already have a menu with the same functions in the notification bar?
Regardless I see no reason to switch back to my System backup if there's nothing to be gained or lost so I'll stick with it for now

I put the quick settings in because I took out a few widgets that did the same thing, to save space. I wanted to keep as close to stock experience as I possibly can. I also did a lot of back end editing. Removing a lot of redundancies that HTC left in. XML code that spent a lot of time going through. I hope that it feels more snappier.

I removed every widget you left in as I don't use them, though I'm sure others may be. If you don't mind me asking, where did you remove the excess "back-end" stuff? It might seem snappier, I haven't had a chance to try it out too much. I'm a super-gamer and I'll be trying out some of my more intense stuff that usually holds up pretty well with some minor performance stutters. I noticed you added pattyboi's kernel which I was initially suspecting as the cause of the issues I was having performance-wise (not happy with the idle GPU freq) but I'll leave it as is and try to report what I can. I'm a power user/proficient tester, so I should be able to notice the SUPER little things that don't mean much to others. I'll check in later
Alternate Link
Is there an alternate download link for this Rom? I'm eager to try it out as I flashed CM11 and was highly disappointed with the camera and sd card issues. The link provided only pulls up my archive viewer and won't actually download the .zip file. I'm an avid tester, and keep several backups ready, in case I mess up. I would love to help with development as much as possible. Currently running the PattyBoi kernel over stock Rom. Overall quick response, but still no true customization options, even with root. I'd to change my boot animation as well as a few other things. S-Off for this device would be huge as well.
Is it possible to install this rom on a Sprint Pre-paid version, And if i will, Will it unlock the phone to other sim cards?
dragonhart6505 said:

Ill tell you that i actually got it much lower by booting into recovery and wiping the folders that didnt pertain to the OS. ultimately i ended up with 2.97gb/4gb. its really important that you stop it from automatically updating all your apps. and only update the ones you use. for example i think google play books is almost 20 megs... as soon as i get home from work ill get my phone out and do it again and see exactly what i did.
FLASHABLE 39A LOLLIPOP DEBLOATED
Here's the OTA 39a Lollipop Rom. Thanks to Xdabbeb for system.img and kernel and zero free instructions to compress system.img.
Bugs: USB Mounting slow if you have old LG Drivers; Calender widget doesn't show event names, but dots; and a few complain of faster battery drain, or slow charging.
Need to flash or be on 27a bootstrap. Full wipe flash from recovery. Backup 1st.

You think there may be a chance the light staying on the power button can cause any damage. Personally I don't care if it burns out but hardware wise. Buttons failing etc..

I don't think it will cause any damage since it's so dimmly lit. It may lead to the LED eventually dying/shortening it's life span, but that's probably it.
I'm more worried about how much battery drain it may possibly cause.

Didn't think about the battery drain especially since battery apps probably cannot pick up on it
That's awesome and so appreciate it @bouchigo but I just want to report that after I flashed the zip file for into support and busybox I lost data. I rebooted and got it back but soon lost it again.
I did a clean flash of course of this 39A Rom.

The file doesn't mess with anything data related. I was having occasional issues with data, and others reported issues with data too; that was before adding busybox and init.d support.
I believe it has more to do with the modem that is being used. I think these data issues won't really be fixed until wet get the kdz, and are able to extract the correct modem from there.

Thanks for the explanation. I restored my backup from before I flashed the zip and my data has been great. I guess it is coincidence.
FYI I installed busybox through the app and installed xposed for lollipop and it works well. Using gravitybox for Navbar and statusbar tweaks.

The modem was modded somehow by su660ics using a LP modem repacked with 12a modem. The guys a genius!
any idea if there is a way to bypass wireless tethering on this? I tried it the way I did on kitkat but it looks like the files are different. I tried several different methods discussed on xda but none seem to work. thanks for the imput.

I believe I found where he got the info. on how to mod the modem. I was going to try it myself, as I had already compiled the boot image from the 39A source, but then I saw you posted the working 39A zip, so I just stopped.
It involves mounting the modem.img in ubuntu/linux, and extaracting 20 files named modem.*** and replacing them with the ones from, I guess in this case the ones from 12A. That's why it works ok, but we have no info. on the baseband version in the settings.
Still, that kdz should solve the minor issues we are experiencing now.
Does IMS and advanced calling work on this ROM?

Well you can turn it off by just going into settings > display -> notification lights > rear lights > remove selected checkboxes from all options and restart..
Wanted to report back. I have flashed the 39a with the modified boot.omg and busybox. Supprt. I now have a rooted vs98039a running great. I don't seem to have the notification light problem. Greatjob

You are the man. Thanks for providing us the means of running this. I for one could care less about what the little baseband box says. One question though. What's the T-CDMA 24 carrier thing about. I mean I've only had a couple connectivity issues but why doesn't it report I'm using Verizon. Also when I had poor signal, instead of showing 3g it showed 1x
Great work! Rom running great however I still have the same lock screen issue I've had in every lollipop Rom. Go into a completely dark room and try to turn the lock screen on...it won't work. You can also replicate the issue by covering up your sensors on your phone...the screen will not stay lit up. Any help or direction will be great help.

Changelog
Code:
Current changelog: -- 14 June
- Added build.prop RAM managment tweaks from @mickeyinid and [user=4517211]@Xileforce[/user]. see link below for the thread.
- Removed /system/app/SecuritylogAgent.apk Hopefully it fixes the Knox screen of death.
6 JUNE
-Reinstalled a free things, should return RAM management back to stock.
- Installed 3 minit battery mod. (www.3minit.com)
-----This will likely cause SystemUI FC when typing decrypt password, I can make a non-3minit version if people are interested.
- File size is larger, I used 7 zip to zip it, no compression.
- Messed with floating.XML, trying to get normal settings menu. It didn't work, but I just left the modified file.
29 May 2015
-More bloat removed.
-No more AT&T locker on first boot.
-I hope all the knox stuff is gone.
-Now should show data icons for Canada (I hate the AT&T ones.) --Maybe not, need to figure out what's causing it not to work.
26 May 2015
Deodexed the /system for easy themeing.
Centered the clock
Made the clock disappear when on lockscreen
Erased the battery icon (I use the "show battery percentage" setting)
Erased the AT&T text in status bar when no icons are shown.
Removed the NFC Icon from statusbar.
Removed the AT&T wifi notification.

FAQ
Q: Where is the Kernel? or Where is the Kernel Source?
A: Since AT&T and Samsung have consipred to lock the bootloader, there is not kernel as flashing anything but stock will probably require an Odin flash to stock.
Q: Any way to get just the SystemUI for use on other DeOdexed ROM?
A: Yes, here you go. SystemUI.apk
Any more, you ask, I'll try answer.

Small update, I have a semi-useless phone for a few days, waiting on AT&T to send me a new one. Mine currently will only get a signal about 25%-50% of the time. I also have some stuff planned with my daughter this weekend, so I probably won't be doing much until I get my new phone and put it through the paces. I had to put stock back on my current S6, and am lazy and don't feel like flashing my ROM back on just to flash stock in a few days . I'll still be around and I'll look into some of the things you guys brought to my attention though.

Downloading now. I'll give a try.
I'm dying to try this, but I'm all pimped out where I am. I dread the two hours to get it where I want, even though I am desirous of your changes... What are the odds a dirty flash would work, coming from Cleanrom? Also, based on the file size, this is largely debloated, is that correct?

I'm looking at some layers (RRO) stuff. was suggested to me via PM. Samsung uses a version of layers, just need to figure out how close to AOSP it is and if some mods can be done to support AOSP layers. Not making promises this will go anywhere, just what I'm currently messing around with.

Just center clock as described by ticklefish in the link from OP. And I removed a line about the carrier from the same time as the center clock (status bar.XML) The section commented out in there about Knox was causing systemUI fc if left in, so I commented it out. Otherwise that's all I think I did in systemUI.

In order to upgrade my phone to the 20o, I just format everything except external sd and flash, or do we need to flash a bootloader, modem, or something first?

please follow the previous post. remember when we upgrade to 20i, you need to follow the same steps...... .kdz. install recovery (bootloader, etc) and then root.
after all that, then you can flash this rom........ this is the normal path......
so far, this rom is cleaner...... I know because of the traces and files that are left after wiping......... this upgrade is nice........... no big visual changes, but I believe they improve it under the hood.....
I will migrate all optimizations from 20i to 20o, in steps.... (too many....lol....)
Running nicely at 32c

This is failing to work for me when it comes to the TWRP part of things. I have my TWRP image on my SD Card and in the ADB folder on my laptop. It keeps stating that it cannot load the file due to no such file or directory. I know I used these steps last time but something isn't cooperating this time.
