Anyone know if the Camera app can be prevented from starting on boot? (Perhaps a little contrary to the spirit of the camera, but I use it more for development than for taking pictures, and I don't like the lens motor wasting its time and wearing out its parts). Does it use the "normal" autostart mechanisms that might be disabled by something like Gemini App Manager, or is the camera start up built specially into the guts of the android version on this thing?
Don't know about the details, but enabling the screen lock (swipe to unlock) in settings stops the camera from starting when waking the device with the power button (doesn't stop the start after boot though).

Well, it stops the lens cranking out immediately on power up, but as soon as you do swipe the screen, you are in the camera app and the lens pops out. I'm looking to avoid the camera app completely. I guess if I get up the nerve to root this thing, I can try out an app manager and see if I can disable it on boot, but I'd hate to do unnatural things to the camera and then find out it didn't do any good .
If you are on the home screen when you switch off it will not open into the Camera app.

That depnds on how "off" is is. Once the suspend or hibernate or whatever it is expires and it goes "fully" off, it always starts in the camera.
Are you sure you really turned it off when it went to your homescreen without starting the camera app?
When starting from fast-startup or on a clean boot it will always start the camera app.
The only time it doesn't is if you had it in standby.
A work around is to use this app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle
Use it to set links to your favorite applications.
When you boot to the lock screen pull down the notification bar, select the app you want, then swipe to unlock and it will open in the app you selected.
Of course it would be much easier if Samsung had simply enabled lock screen shortcuts

It would be really nice to disable the camera on boot. It would also be nice to get rid of this stupid mesage:
"SD card inserted. Change storage location to SD card?"
I thought there was a thread for that, but can't find it now.

I only started to get this message since the new update, it appears as though the SD card doesn't get initiated before the camera app loads and in turn thinks you've inserted a new card, when it finally does get loaded. Either they need to put a delay in place or somehow not load the camera app until it's established whether there is a card installed or not.
Disable the BOOT_COMPLETE permission in the camera app but make sure something else has it or you boot to a blank screen.
how can we disable a permission ?
is there a simple app for that ?
Thanks.

XPosed Framework and the App Settings module will allow you to adjust the permissions.

Thanks. However, As far as I know Xposed framework is for 4.2+ devices. Camera has 4.1.2, so where can I find that Xposed framework ?

Ok;
I've found and installed Xposed framework with App Settings module.
The app that I should change permission is com.sec.android.app.camera , right ?
When I try to chenge its permissions, it says "Shared packages not yet supported"
so ?
Get the latest files a quick Google search for Xposed Framework should get you to the right thread as I don't have it to hand and try it then. The settings asp changes from "Xposed Settings" to "Asp settings" in the latest version.

I got app settings from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327541
It says "App settings" as you say. so it should be the new version ?
but it does not change shared packages.
where else can I find it ?
---------- Post added at 10:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:09 PM ----------
my version is app settings 0.4 and it is also discussed here that "shared packages are not supported":
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36029129&highlight=shared#post36029129
are you sure that it is working for you ?
I still couldn't solve this. Can you tell me which version you've used for this ?
thx.
I need help please...
Sorry if I ask a question wrong. Do not know much English. Searched the internet, found no answer. On my device LG 4X HD firmware CM10.2 does not provide a function awakening using the volume buttons. Buttons mechanical, as all devices, but if the other devices that I have used and use, this function can be on/off settings, LG is generally not provided! I don't understand what the reason. I tried and tried to change the files in the folder keylayout, and set the program to unlock shaking, with a proximity sensor, light sensor and so on, which are 2 minutes after switching off. Nothing happens, it is logical to assume that the device goes to sleep and shuts down everything. Although the programs I've set these permissions present phrase - not to give sleep to the device. How can assign a revival on the keys of the volume that rule?

Maybe someone has a solution? Put please keylayout folder on a replacement. Maybe except that folder should be something else in the system to rule. ROM CM 10.2. Save advance.

Hmm... Then try galaxy s4/ note 3 lockscreen. It has option for unlocking by home button. And search for the app on xda cuz it has been removed from Google Play.

Established. It does not unlock the screen for no button, except Power. By the way Widgetlock does not work! This problem should be solved in the system, but I do not know what to edit and where.
Dear developers,
I bought a special lamp a few months ago.
It comes with an ir remote to change the colour , eventually i runned out of battery power 2 times wich is pretty enoying. I have an htc one , i controll my tv with it
Its also tru ir and works fine. I searched on the appstore for an app witch controls my ir light so i can also do this with my phone. But i cant find any only tru wifi ore bluetooth. The remote o have says 2.4 ghz while the htc one has 2.4-5 ghz. So this shoud be posseble right? So if anyone knows an app i can use for this. Please let my know!
Thnx for your time !
Greetings from the netherlands
You could always just download a TV remote app, and use the manual option to setup the "power button, vol up, etc." Your app ui will show those buttons, but it will actually use the buttons you programmed instead.
It will work at least until you find an app specifically made for your remote.

Hi, is it possible to change what happens when I press the camera button on my Xperia T? I would like it to start recording audio, so I can quickly and effortlessly start recording, rather then having to turn the screen on, navigate to the app, open, then press record.
Thanks
Yes,with a Xposed module called Xposed Additions.

I installed it but there's something wrong, when I run the app it says "Missing System Service: The service is not enabled. If you have just updated the module please reboot. Otherwise make sure xposedbridge is installed and that this module is enabled."
I do have a rooted phone.
You are new in this read something about xposed framework thats the only way to do that easier
OK I sorted out that problem, the app works fine now.
Does anyone know how to use this app? How do I set it to record audio on pressing the camera button?

You can't set it to record audio directly, as far as I know (never saw that in the options), but theoretically you should be able to set it to be able to open an app when pressing the camera button. You need to set conditions (while screen off or on), and then reasign the button to the function you want. It's not a complicated app.

I've been trying to find a tutorial or guide for this app but I can't. Either I'm stupid or it's not as easy as it seems.
Could someone help me out? I just want my audio recording app to launch when I press the camera button.

It's not that hard, you just need to press the "Buttons" (Configure button re-map settings), and set profiles for when the screen is on/off. As far as I know, you can't set it to open an app while the screen is off, you'd need the screen to be on first. Aside from that, you could also try reading the button labels/descriptions, which might help. Also, there aren't that many buttons either, so just start pressing buttons and see what they do.

All I can do for a button is add conditions. I can add conditions fine, but I can't see how to launch an app under those conditions.
Edit: Actually I figured it out but the program doesn't work.

I tested it out a few days ago, and it worked for me (used it to open a different camera app than the default one). Maybe it's the ROM you're on.

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if the Bixby Button can be used as Mute button during the call. Remember the Mute button on the blackberries? Very handy.

bxActions app (Play Store) should be able to do it / configure the Bixby button for this function.
See screenshots for some use /options
Don't know if this option is available in free version.
I'm using the Pro version.
Good luck
I'm guessing OP means to mute the mic during a phone call, I'm not sure if bxActions can do that.

You can try using the Button Mapper app from the Play Store and assigning the "Mute Microphone" action to the Bixby Button. You need to run the suggested ADB command first before you can do it though.
