OK so I bricked my first nexus and now I'm on my second one. I now flashed Chroma ROM and I love it, however in the future should I ONLY flash 5.1 AOSP based Roms? I'm trying to not brick my phone like I did my first one. Ant tips will be highly appreciated.

Just give it a day. souce also just dropped on AOSP so the custom ROM's should start flowing later today.
i REALLY wish i had the know-how to do this. i would love to build an AOSP ROM myself, but i am pretty dumb outside of using a custom recovery to flash a ROM....lol

HI guys i just got my nexus and i downloaded the toolkit.
I want to know what is the best rom to flash and a link to how would be appreciated?
I would like one that dosen't interfere with OTA updates as well
Thank you all very much
I would recommend Paranoid Android 3+. Link is in my signature. Even if you dont update it a lot, every build is very stable. Battery life is really good. It uses stock kernel with no overclocking or under clocking. Lots of customization. Check out the video in the official thread.
If you are running 4.2.1, make sure to update your baseband and boot loader when upgrading to 4.2.2.

That's not an official MIUI ROM. Its based on CM with MIUI look. MIUI ROMs aren't available for N4 yet because its running 4.2.1 or 4.2.2. You have to wait until MIUI catches up with N4 firmware. Feel free to install it.
Edit: updated

I love ParanoidAndroid, and the Franco M1 on top of it is great.
7 people, 7 different answers. Try some for yourself bud.

Congrats on the new nexus, but as born2gethard has alluded to, "best rom" threads aren't allowed. Too many people with too many opinions. Just try them for yourself.

Wouldn't be entirely sure of this. I mean yeah, you'd figure the stock ROM for any device would be more stable than anything custom, but on the Nexus 10 anyway, I find custom ROM's more stable (no random rebooting) than stock 4.2.2.
No comment on the most stable ROM for Nexus 4 though.
Most of them are completely stable. Try them out and see which one you like.
OP the most stable ROM would be what you find most stable, due to the variables involved with each individual User...apps/usage. Why don't you just read thru the threads and do some homework, and run some ROMs to test for yourself. Thanks
I just turned back to my old SGS, because my One M8 is on RMA and I'd like to know your subjective opinion on which is the fastest ROM out there. I don't really care much about features, just want a stable base.
Gingerbread is really fast on this phone, but I'd like to use something newer, namely ICS or newer...
I tried last CM 11 M7 and that was just unusably slow. Didn't think that this phone has a problem with KitKat.
So I tried CM 9.1, because people here said that it's faster than KK... and it was okay, but it was definitely slower than official GB, especially after I installed just about 20 apps.
Now I'm clueless, is there anything 4.x faster then these? Should I stay on stock?
Thanks
same situation with you..
broke my nexus 4 and now waiting for lg g2...
so galaxy s out of the box.
think will try something like ics...
Try Nameless. Word of caution though. Change the boot animation. I usually do this and delete the original rom animation before flashing to phone.
The rom is fast and smooth, currently 4. 4. 3. The original boot animation does cause problems though so make sure to change it.

What problems does the boot animation cause? I've never heard of this..
You're talking specifically about nameless ROM?

Yeah specifically nameless.
On initial boot after flashing it is fine, but booting after that bootloops or simply hangs for an age. I saw a post on the nameless thread saying they had left it for 3 hours I think they said.
I extracted the omni boot animation which works fine, but I have tried others and have had the same problem.
Other than that the Rom is flawless.

I'm using Mackay CM9 based rom, very fast and stable http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2660668
Archidroid is the fastest I have used highly recommended

Yes, Mackay ICS 2014 is on my i9000 also the fastest.
SauROM (Gingerbread based) is the second fastest.
No JB or KK is as fast as either of those ROMs.

I would like to give my device some love and am in need of advice on how I should go about upgrading my custom rom to a kk rom and upgrading SS to KK. I rooted using the original root method when it first came out. I have been running drakeys 4.3 custom rom since his last release. I have attached pics of my device info.
Where should I start and what processes would be best to follow?
Thanks in advance!
