Hi,
Just picked up the Huawei Ascend P7 from the Australian Teleco Optus - trying to understand if there are updates to version 3.0 of EMUI? I cant seem to find much info or any firmware versions relating to this version of the phone I saw the update for Europe for the P7-L10 version? Any assistance would be great as have spoken a few times to Huawei direct and they dont know anything to help!!
Cheers

Hello,
To be honest the phone isn't that good at all, performance is kinda bad, chinese hardware, chinese software, no support for anything.
As far as I've searched on google, theres nothing about P7-L11 EMUI 3.0, sadly.
Even I am trying to exchange this phone for an LG Nexus 5 (older phone, made out of plastic, but higher performance with recent updates)
If I were you I would of gone back to the store and changed it for something more popular, since Huawei's P7 is the first 'flagship' phone introduced in 2014, yet its not popular at all with crappy performance but 'good' build quality (why would u wanna have 2 glass panels that are easily scratchable, and a camera lens thats made out of cheap plastic).
Sorry if I didn't help you very well, I've made the same mistake with this phone
Best regards,
James

My wife has a Huawei W1 on Vodafone here in New Zealand. She has GDR2. Her phone has automatic updates turned on so I suppose GDR3 will eventually reach her phone too. you might have to be patient until Huawei get around to it.
According to Microsoft the availability of a Windows Phone OS update depends on"Your update version number depends on your specific phone model and mobile operator."

Still nothing here in Holland. It seems as if the updates just won't become available here. I switched to Nokia anyway due to the lack of support from Huawei.
Thanks for the info!
You can always get the official GDR3 by signing up for the Update Preview, which is now the same as the RTM GDR3.

yes looks like it .. huawei can be fcuked do EU version.. only homies has fun..
bye-bye Huawei ****!!!
reason?
Guys I believe the main reason why huawai hasn't release emui3.0 for Europe (l10) yet is because of the software that accompanies emui 3.0
Apps like wallet, market, music store, video and others have content in Chinese only
It would be stupid for someone to think that the are too lazy to translate the menus or they don't have the resources for that, or even they have difficulties on porting the software THEY wrote , to a model which is 99,9 identical hardwarewise.
It was easy enough for the devs in here, without access to the source code....
The content on the other hand its a hole different story and without content the apps that emui 3.0 is built around are useless...
So I am guessing they are working on the content provide services and other non-technical stuff before they release it.
This would be my first and last HUAWEI device
If Huawei does not provide to the international people up-to-date Software, they will lose many customers, I am the one who will choose Samsung, iphone, nexus or Sony smartphones for daily use, since these devices are being updated permanently and this is very important to fix bugs, improve performance and to have the best apps in our devices. This is the first time I use a Huawei product and unfortunetly for huawei the last one. Ask Apple costumers one of the main reasons why they enjoy buying iphones or ipads, most of them will say: "because of the constant updates they receive in their devices via ota". This is also called good aftersells service.

Agreed I have a Nexus 10, Nexus devices are the first to receive new Android versions and are open.
I own a L00 phone and I got it mainly for the duel sim functionality and being one of the only really up to date phones with features that was duel active.
Most companies would rather sell new devices as that's where their money comes from. For all you saying Samsung supports there phones, allot of those phones don't get updated or as often as above compared to the Nexus line, some still are rolling out to 4.4.4 now from 4.2.
Also to above most users using iPhones don't care about being up to date, the overall usability and integration of the os package and support from Apple they care about.
They also don't care about customisability as long as it works and easy to use and looks nice.
To those people Android is complex and loaded with too many features and options and customisability which seems overkill to them.
I've known iPhone users before and they are still happy with older models as long as they work and will buy iPhone again when there phone is no longer up to there needs.
As for L10 EMUI 3 remember Huawei is a Chinese company so of course there Chinese models come first then they will see how the EMUI 3 os and shell they designed holds up in there own local market before porting it to the international version. That normally takes a month or so if you actually think about it and fixing any bugs for the international release in the meantime.
The L00 seems fine and comes in many languages with some minor translation things for fluidity which is expected as you would also see reading posts on here from the non native English posters.
Overall critasising and getting all upset at Huawei because they don't release 3.0 for there international version within 2-3 days of there native version and saying Samsung is any better when they are much the same with updates doing there flagship locals first before there international or older phones isn't the smartest thing to be doing.

Ascend Mate 2 is getting Android 5.0 Lollipop
If you are an Ascend Mate 2 owner you might have already heard this by now. But in case if you haven’t, Huawei USA announced that the Ascend Mate 2 will be updated to Android Lollipop in near future. This announcement comes probably because of the huge backslash from Android community resulted after announcing that Ascend Mate 2 won’t even be getting Android KitKat as we wrote here – http://huaweinews.com/2014/10/ascend-mate-2-kitkat/.
Huawei is trying to build a better image in US market and it would be a disaster for them to leave less than a year old Ascend Mate 2 with years old Android 4.3. Huawei must have felt that they have taken the wrong decision and we are happy because they have finally doing something to make it right for the consumers.

Huawei is never good in providing updates fast!
I think unimportant... So even Google is guaranteed for only two years OS update for their devices.
But if want to get fastest OS update you can buy Google Pixel.
Huawei suffers poor and old dune picture saying that the update are late! but his is no longer true in particular for its collaboration with Google and the fact of wanting to conquer the European market. otherwise so as we announced android nougat for year end we will be in the first to have it.
Huawei Mobile*has released the Android 7 Nougat update for the P9, P9 Lite and Mate 8 devices. Why they haven't done the same for the P8, P8 Lite and Mate S, this*only leads to one conclusion:
Huawei*only cares about the factory line revenue generation of their P9, P9 Lite and newer devices! All you customers who purchased new P8, P8 Lite and Mate S*a few months back, you can be sure that Huawei*only wants you to buy a newer mobile phones and leave older devices even if they are still sufficient by hardware side.
The hardware requirements for Android Nougat are irrefutably the same as Android Marshmallow.* Where is 18 month software support?

If I remember correctly it isn't really Huawei's fault. Google doesn't support the version for P8 because of security issues.
Anyway I wouldn't really looking for the Android 7.0, most of the UI is available in Launchers like Nova and other pars of it doesn't really make much of a difference.

EMUI 5 uses new filesystem format which makes phone faster and makes the phone fast even after a long time of usage becauses it doesnt fragment data, i think it could be noticable in midend phone like P8, shame we wont have it...

i dont know M8 but what i can say is huawei itself comfirmed that model P8 wont get further versions of android except those with security patch, Have HTC ever said that they will never get nougat? i think that even if huawei could bring it to us later, they just wont anymore, they released TOO many new devices since then, if they had to maintain all of them they would get crazy and no profit from that what so ever, if there is any hope is very, very small, and i dont have any anymore
I don't have a P8 but I remember always wanting one due to the awesome design. If developers can port Nougat to My Galaxy S4 then I really don't see why Hauwei can't make an official release for the p8. With 2 year software updates the norm I find this extremely unacceptable. The vulkan requirement is false, for I can run nougat on a S4 (custom ROM) and have no graphical issues at all. Good luck with your petition.

nope, you ain't seeing nougat on p8. we chinese users have been asking huawei since the release of emui 5, and all the answer from them is "no major functional upgrades, but security patches will continue". so stop hoping for official emui 5, and cross your fingers for third-party flavors like lineage. btw based on the status of the cm13 and lineage13 here, lineageos suooprt seems promising.

Hi guys,
I'd like to talk about huawei state of the scene nowdays. Maybe can be usefull to others.
I have a P10 branded with Italy carrier stuck ant C113 B364 so I started to think to mod this phone. Mainly because of the GPU Turbo that on sheet seems awsome but for what I've read is not so awsome.
The Huawei scene seems dead...very dead, except for openkirin and fromfuture and a custom Kernel. The point is: is Huawei messed things up on purpose to discourage the modding community?
The main thing because I don't consider now an OpenKirin rom is because Camera (it seems is preinstalled in OK rom but I didn't find any review and I don't have time in this period to make a test) and the main thing because I don't consider fROM future is because magisk preinstalled, I never had luck with root hider module, and some bank and nintendo app, don't start with rooted rom.
But If I just want to rebrand go, for example for C342 B387 which is the lastest stock fw, will this prevent me to downgrade later? because my fear is to update to a fw and then have trouble with downgrade...
A thing that I hate is when a brand deny me freedom with my phone, I hate so much, but in this particular period of my life I don't have much time to test and change rom if something goes wrong. Maybe next year, I will have time to mess with custom rom, change it, revert back, as much as I can...
So why the modding community is pretty dead or stuck on B370? what are the issues?
Are there any problem if someone try lastest stock (B387 now)? can we have always the possibility to downgrade to B370? treble? or revert even to nougat?
why gpu turbo is so shi**y?
how huawei is trying to killing the community? and why in your opinion?
I think will be interesting to talk about this, maybe it could help other than me
thank you
Hello.
Yes, i'm thinking that Huawei trying to kill community especially some critics, which they are not satisfied of update process. They don't respond on Facebook, live chat etc. First of all, they blocked servers with bootloader unlocking codes, why ? I don't know, maybe rumors about invigilation have point here - AOSP roms - less control, but this is only my presumptions. Second thing, they blocked servers with software which cause tools like Firmware Finder have limited functionality.
Huawei treat some countries like 3rd world's countries like Poland. We are stucked on B376 build since October, FF shows 4 next builds including GPU Turbo builds but no one got update on phone. Other countries like Germany have B380 active distribution, and BETA test program of Android Pie including beta distribution since few days. Lot of peoples here have branded phones with C738 region, after buing bootloader code for 4$ and debrand, they getting new OTA updates faster and earlier than phones bought in open market ! I know cases where some branded phones have approval for C432 build in FF. That's not funny.
And now the best thing, P10 Lite got updates with November security and GPU Turbo 3 weeks ago! P10 stucked with September Google safety patches. Low-budget phone have much better support here.
Regarding GPU Turbo feature, that's very strange how Huawei made awesome marketing by fixing bug in software. First they limited performance then fixed them to increasing their sale.
Today, i know that i bought my first and last Huawei.
Regards,
Matt.
Thank you @dm1991 it's a nice answer. For me p10 will be the last huawei ever.
Btw now I'd like to discover if its true that there are issue on downgrading from build above b370
