After installing ICS on the I9000 (2.1 RC) I seem to not be able to get my PC to detect the phone (Unable to install Driver Software).
I have downloaded the drivers for the Galaxy and also have tried connecting it to Kies which also resulted in a failure.
In the Device Manager the phone shows up as ''Samsung Mobile MTP Device''
Cheers.
Was also my experience. Went back to JW1.
Thats the problem with ics at the mo, its still beta and glitchy. Stick to JW1
Well you need the Nexus drivers as it explains in the OP of TH build. FWIW it works perfectly for me.

It's the same reason your computer doesn't see your phone when on cm7, it isn't a Sammy phone anymore. You need nexus s drivers for your computer to see the phone, and it will no longer work with kies.

Hi guys, Merry Christmas - Happy and Bugless New Year!
I ve got Samsung Galaxy s2, and i have some question about it,
1. Why it boots itself when long time wifi is ON?
2. I updated 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 trough KIES, (i live in Ukraine), and now i check, there is no update for me in KIES, but all world running on 2.3.5 and 2.3.6 official updates trough Kies, but why i can not get it?,
3. Is there any influence of GSM operator on update for android version? i mean if i change my simcard to other operator, will it update?, or it doesn`t change anything?
4. Why my phone running maximum 9 Hours, ok i am medium user, playin, facebook etc. but, in any case, 8-9 hours not so little for this phone?, sometimes even 4 hours and battery is DEATH
5. Go Ex Launcher is heavier then Touchviz ?? i mean which of them more soft and make more less busy cpu and ram?
6. hmm this is interesting question, is there any trick which can make my location different to kies, to i get official updates of another country , i know this is utopia, but whatever i would like to learn, why not?
Thank you guys, sorry for my laggy, damaged, and un understandable ENGLISH , but i hope you will decode what i say
Wait you SIMPLE ENGLISH EXPLANATION, Hell yeah, finally wrote in english ,

Though I don't have S2 but will try to answer your queries:
1) No idea
2) The updates are location specific, samsung decides which rom to release for which region and when .. 2.3.6 may not be available for your reason
3) As I said, updates are location specific.. if your phone is carrier locked then changing the carrier may make the update available. Check sammobile.com and see which gingerbread version is available for your location
4) Reduce the number of widgets on your screens and turn off autosync .. this will lead to quite some increase in your battery life.. better root your phone and uninstall system apps that you don't use.. and much better option is flashing some custom rom
5) I find Launcher pro plus the most light and smooth launcher yet on my SGS
6) There is a way to let kies think you are from different location.. some registry editing or something.. but better option is to download the firmware from sammobile.com and flashing using odin..
Hope I was able to help..

That's the thing, it does not install drivers automatically, i have installed newest version of Kies and nothing happened, i have tried uninstalling the already installed SGS drivers and let windows auto install them but all i get is 'unable to install driver software'.
I went and downloaded the SGS USB Drivers manually but it also does nothing, im going to try the Galaxy Nexus drivers right now tho.

Do tell if it solved your problem or not....
Flashing ICS debug ROM, smartflash showed a timoeout error that I never had. The phone suts down and now the display is totally black and all functions don't start(recovery, booting, charging). I'm trying to use NVflash to rebirth it, but when I start flashing it creates 19 partitions, formats them and when starts sending flashboot.img it seems to be blocked(10 min saying this and I shut down the command prompt). Must I wait this long time or it is really blocked?

yes, i tried both redownloading and changing ROM, and it still blocks on flashboot.img
oh, you shouldn't have done that mate
The o2x is said to be unbrickable, but some people still manage in anyway. I yesterday when the ICS debug rom was installing with smartflash unplugged the cable right after it was dont formatting everything, nvflash still worked though, but if it doesn't with you you're pretty much screwed. Have you already tried this nvflash, maybe that'll work.

I confirm that, also on my laptop I had to change usb port to make nvflash working. For some reasons one usb port (maybe 3.0?) does not work with phone in apx-mode.

For some unknown reasons to me, my O2X does not work when connected to a usb3.0 port, while in apx-mode. When not in apx-mode all is working also with usb3.0. The behaviour is strange, the device is correctly seen when booted, but after that gives timeout-error.
BTW this is not a problem for me since I also have USB2 ports on my laptops.

My driver is working correctly, the problem (perfectly reproducible) is concerned with a specific usb port, with all other ports the phone is working as expected. I also tried different cables, the behaviour remained the same.
Maybe that port has not enough power for the phone but being a USB3 port, it sounds strange to me.
G.
I have the same problem. I bricked my LG 2X yesterday and I would like to flash something stock but I think my bootloader is blocked so I don't know how to fix my smartphone. Is there anyone who has managed to handle this problem? Please, I really want to unbrick my P990 but the most popular methods with NvFlash and SmartFlashTool don't work! :crying:
EDIT://
Oh. That was a bug on my Windows 7. I unbricked my phone on Windows XP with this tutorial:

Hello XDA members.
I tried to root my Xperia T with the method of Bin4ry v30
After choosing Method 3 it just shows daemon started successfully and then nothing happens.
Also I tried to uninstall PC Companion and install it again.....by device Manager I can't find any specific drivers but I know they're installed since my Phone is working on MTP.
Any ideas what should I do?

My Galaxy s5 att has been buggy lately running dynamic cat 3.0. I want to go back to stock. I tried to install the drivers but I got a message saying they weren't installed correctly. I tried a few times, restarting my computer and nothing will work. Please help.

So I tried a different cable and same thing. Computer won't recognize the device. It does charge though so I guess that's good. My computer is saying there is an error with my device. I have an idea, if I go to recovery mode and wipe everything and then try to plug it in, will it recognize my device? I'll make sure to make a backup before I do that

Do you have access to different computer, any PC , just trying to find out if there is nothing wrong with phone. Seems to me like PC or cable problem but i want to be sure. I had similar problem with note 10.1. I change 4 cables then finally got one working. If all file you can try to wipe just make sure you will have working rom in case if that is hardware or usb port in your phone not working. Also you can try flash rom true Mobile Odin.

That was just suggestion if you willing to try, like i said i don't know if this will work.

It's definitely not the pc. This other pc is also not recognizing it even after drivers are installed. It says the device has malfunctioned. So I'm guessing it's something wrong with my phone. I would bring it back to AT&T but I have to get it back to stock before that so I can keep my warranty.
I'm trying to flash CSB3_TMO to my unlocked Note9 (SM-N960U1). I'm currently on the latest unlocked firmware (ARL1). When I connect the phone (in Download mode), Odin announces "Added" and shows "ID:COM 0:[COM5]". But it either hangs forever on "SetupConnection..", or else soon errors with "Can't open the serial(COM) port" (see screenshot).
I'm using Odin3 v3.13.1_3B patched. I reinstalled the Samsung USB driver (1.5.65.0). I tried different cables and different USB ports (the connection works fine for SmartSwitch).
Any obvious mistakes here or other things to try?
I found other discussions that mentioned interference from Kies (I don't even have that installed on my PC), or difficulty with either USB2 or USB3 (I tried both kinds of port).
Any other suggestions?

HI i have Kies installed that shouldn’t cause an issue via Odin as i didn’t have any issues flashing via Odin!
Maybe you should install Kies as it will install the correct Samsung driver that is needed for the connection!
Once Kies is installed, launch it once, quit, restart and then try via Odin. Also your using the original USB C cable that came with the Note 9 ? As some cable do have issues!

Copy and pasted from thread i linked to!
"Go into Kies, Tools -> Preferences, unselect "Run Samsung Kies automatically when a device is connected", save the change, close out of Kies, and then restart ODIN 3. Try flashing now. "
Best thing i can suggest is uninstall Kies and the Samsung driver restart p.c then reinstall Kies do above! Quit Kies and make sure you also Ctrl, Alt, Delete, make sure Kies is not running in the background! Also download a fresh copy of Odin extract then launch! You are using 7zip to extract Odin aren’t you ?

Thanks for the further suggestions.
Why would I want to remove SmartSwitch from either my phone or my PC?
No, I didn't use 7zip. I downloaded patched Odin from the xda link here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/how-to/stock-official-android-pie-odin-t3907156
and then I used the native Windows unzip to extract from the zip file.
As mentioned, I did not have Kies installed at all. Kies provides nothing relevant except the Samsung USB drivers, which as mentioned I installed and reinstalled after downloading directly from Samsung.
I got it to work. I think the relevant change was that instead of using the latest Samsung USB driver (1.5.65.0 from www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads), I installed 1.5.51.0 from developer.samsung.com. But I also switched to a different Windows 10 PC, so it's possible that some other difference was responsible.
