[Q] Bluetooth streaming guidance requested - Off-topic

Hey everyone, pretty sure there is a better place for this post but not really sure where that would be. I'm looking for a bluetooth device to stream music from my Xperia Z3 Compact to my car stereo.
My stereo has a female usb cable and an aux cable running next to each other into the try below the stereo. What I am looking for is a device similar in construction to a usb stick, ie something that plugs directly into the usb port and is powered there but is relatively small. if it has to play the audio through the aux cable that is fine. I've seen some devices like the:
VicTsing Portable USB Bluetooth Audio Music Streaming Receiver Adapter with 3.5 mm Stereo Output White I found on amazon. (sorry too new to post links)
However, its been a long time since I used bluetooth and I remember my bluetooth 2.0 device being a huge power drain. I know that's supposed to be the big thing with bluetooth 4.0. So I guess all in all I have the following questions:
Is there a good device like this out there with bluetooth 4.0?
does it matter to my phones battery whether or not my Bluetooth 4.0 phone connects to a 4.0 receiver versus a 2.1 receiver?
Is there a better device out there that can transfer meta data to my car stereo as well via bluetooth connected to the usb?
Thanks for any help and Iike i said, if this isn't the place for such a question please redirect me there and I will re-ask it.
Thanks

External speakers

Hi,
I don't really like the sound quality on my Diamond, so I was wondering, has anybody got some good external speakers. It would be great if it works with bluetooth, but mini usb is also an option. And not too expensive ofcourse!
Thanks
it works over bluetooth to any device which support a2dp
as in stereo headsets and the likes
miniUSB is not an option
but diamond use EXTUSB not miniusb
and you can get a converter to 3.5mm minijack for a few coins
then you can connect it to car radio, stereos powered speakers
and anything else

Use topaz as bluetooth headset / use on-board mic

I have searched everywhere and can't seem to find a answer to this...
I use a phone cradle in the car, using my topaz as my music player, connecting my phone to my car stereo with a male-male 3.5mm audio jack.
I want to be able to steam music via bluetooth from any other compatible phone / device to my phone, meaning I don't have to trail cables everywhere when a passenger wants to play something.
I would have thought this to be a simple-ish thing to setup but cannot find any information on how to do it. Is it even possible, and where would I start if it is?
I also want to use my on-board mic when the headset is plugged so I can have call audio over car speakers, although iv been led to believe this isn't possible because of hardware reasons, can anybody clarify that?
Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, not really sure where it should have gone.
If I understand you correctly, you want to stream music TO your phone over BT from another device? Not possible.
For hearing call over speakers and using mic, you need to get the M-F w/built in mic.
I too don't think it will be possible to stream music from another device to your phone except if you transfer the entire music mp3 file via bluetooth to your device and then play it from there.
Regarding the possibility of using the device's microphone whilst using the car speakers for sound, again I'm afraid I don't think this is possible. I have a similar set-up to you in that my TD2 is connected to an FM transmitter which also charges my TD2 at the same time in a nice cradle. The TD2 thinks it is connected to a headset when cradled. The microphone is inactive in this state which is a shame as it would have made a good hands free system if it were to be active....

I use this set up as well. You just need the cable with the built in mic.
My RF Transmitter has a male plug, So I found the HTC cable that has the HTC USB to Female with built in mic. This is my basic set up.

That set up looks great Bruce, but I don't want to be fiddling about plugging in so many cables with so many wires visible. Brodit does something similar too, all in a cradle with an extended wire so you would be able to hide all the cables....

HTC OEM Car StereoClip Audio Bridge CAR A100

This might be interesting gismo. Does anybody have first-hand experience with the new HTC Car StereoClip Audio Bridge CAR A100 and HD2?
Wirelessly stream music from your HTC phone through your car stereo speakers with the Car StereoClip (Aux). Just plug the adaptor into a 3.5mm auxiliary port and connect your device via Bluetooth to the dongle, then you can listen to premium, authentic sound thanks to embedded apt-X enhancement.
Features
- Plug into AUX port to stream music from your device to car audio system via Bluetooth
- Single pairing button
- Audio pairing supported
- LED indication
- this dongle is compatible with all devices with BT A2DP profile
Box contents: - one USB dongle
- one USB cable

Does it work well as hands free with HD2 (given it is OEM HTC product)? Unfortunately, I have had few BT kits which did not work correctly with HD2 and HD2 is known for its poor BT audio sharing.

[Q] Car dock and USB audio?

I have the official HTC car dock, and while it fits great, looks great, and does its job, the USB cable doesn't seem to give me any capabilities except charging. Is there no USB audio capabilities through this cable? I tried connecting the phone while in the dock directly to my USB-in on my car's head unit, and there was no sound.
Is there a better way? I'm on CM10 and Bluetooth is a bit wonky, so any alternatives to connect my phone to play music through my stereo would be great. Any of them except using the headphone jack to connect to the AUX-in on my head unit. I want something line-level.
unfortunately there is nothing line level on android to my knowledge. everything is done on a line-less level: IE bluetooth. and even then if there were a line level way of playing music you're on CM10.1 so its going to be even more iffy

Bluetooth Audio

My Nofe 4 was rooted and I'd installed Viper4android and its Bluetooth settings had fixed buzzy audio that I was getting with my Bluetooth connection. Unfortunately I cannot use the app on my Note 9 due to the lack of root available.
This is my setup for my vehicle;
Cassette Adapter to Male 3.5mm plug
Female-to-Female adapter & Line filter
Kinivo BTC450 (Male 3.5 mm plug to Bluetooth device)
I've tried the Bluetooth connection with a stereo receiver. No buzzing what-so-ever. Sound was as perfect as can be (for not being hardwired).
Any thoughts on an app can use?
I have given the OP on this thread a massive makeover. Hopefully, it clears up what I had, currently have and what I'm going for.
