Hi, a bit more info might help here, but anyway, if you are changing roms you need to factory reset & wipe dalvik & cache after flash generally, read op for rom, if u are trying something else, explain more pls

ok - i flashed the phone with CM12 (with odin) .
Flashing all ok. Then i go to twrp and wipe Dalviak and Cache.
After system boot only the " Samsung Screeen ..." appears.
After that i try a new flash with CM 11 but allways the same .. " Samsung Galaxy ...) . .. nohing else
are you sure you are not wiping system or data?
i thing i wiped both
Only wipe dalvik & cache after flash, not system and data

i do the descriptions on nova fusion with odin3 (cm12)::
...
6) Turn off your phone, and then use VOL- & HOME & POWER buttons combination.
7) If you see Warning screen, use VOL+ button.
8) You should see Android and some information.
9) Connect phone to computer and make sure it is detected by Odin (it will appear as COM device). If it doesn’t, try to use other USB port.
10) Use Start button. Wait until flash process will finish.
11) Your phone will restart, but probably won’t boot. Pull down your battery and use VOL+ & HOME & POWER buttons combo to boot into recovery.
-> all ok -> twrp 2.7.1.0
12) Click on Wipe, then use slider on the bottom to let process begin.
-> here iam not realy sure - i do dalviak and cache wipe
-> i get an error - E:Unable to mount "/system"
13) Click on Home icon, and then Reboot -> System.
Wait for boot. Now you should have ROM installed and ready to use!
-> nothing happens -i have onlythe start screen" Samsung ...."
I always flash roms from zip file with twrp & don't usually have any problems, maybe you should try that method instead

Yes you are right , but dont have a chance to put the files on the phone,
because i have only two modus:
1) Modus twrp - how you can put file on the phone ?
2) and the downloading modus - and there i know only odin software
How you then put files on the device ?
Put the file on ext sd card, boot into twrp recovery, factory reset, then select install, install from ext sd, select zip file, wait till installed, then wipe dalvik & cache, reboot system, do full nandroid backup, first just incase so you can go back to previous rom & settings
Sent from my GT-I8190 using XDA Free mobile app
yes i know - but when you say ..Put the file on ext sd card ...
how schould i do this ?
there is no adb, there is no system - only twrp modus or starting screen...
connect the phone to pc & open sd card or put sd card in a card reader & transfer then boot into twrp recovery& do wipes & installation as explained
Did you have any luck with this problem yet?

Hi..
I was trying to upgrade my samsung galaxy s plus (GT-19001) device to Android 4.0.4.
i just installed CWM-based recovery v5.5.0.4 on my device by rebooting and selecting (install zip from sd card).
------using mentioned combination of keys -------
Then i placed the files in my phone's internal SD Card.
files are mentioned below:
1-> cm-9-20121011-ivendor-ariesve-rc5.zip
2-> gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
3-> recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.2-ariesve.zip
then install 1 by choosing from internal SD card and then 2nd file.
my device prompted completion success messages but it took very short time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
now what happened after doing this. my device is displaying same booting screen of CWM-based recovery v5.5.0.4 on each re-boot.
i treid many times by unplug the battrey but unfortunately unsuccessfull.
After that i did Wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I tried it through window's based utility Odin v4.43 but it could detect my device usb driver even after success of USB driver installation.
it didn't display Added in message box.
now what should i do ?
i already installed samsung Kies but still undetected.
I tried some old version of Odin 3v1.8 , it detected the port and displayed Added but failed to write ROM on my device.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My desktop machine's OS : windows 8 64 bit enterprise edition.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am unable to install new ofor revert back my OS because when i Hold Vol Down + Home + Power, This is not putting me in Download Mode instead Ramdump Mode.
I need your guidence to resolve the issue. Thanks in advance.
Please ask for further details if required.
I'm not sure I got exactly what you did.
1) You installed CWM recovery.
2) You rebooted into recovery.
3) You installed the CM ROM zip.
4) You installed the GApps zip.
5) You rebooted.
Am I right ? And now you only get access to the recovery ?
If you're coming from a GingerBread ROM, this is normal. Simply, re-install the ROM again (and the GApps obviously). If it doesn't work, tell us.

Hi Einril.
I try to summarize in some chunks for better understanding.
=======================================================================================
Hi.
I just started with CWM-based recovery v5.5.0.4 and placed all above mentioned files/packages into the device internal SD card.
That's what i did :
1). Entered into the recovery mode menu by holding down Volume Up + Power and installed CWM-based recovery v5.5.0.4 zip from the selection of Internal SD Card .
2). After reboot, i came up again in Recovery mode using CWM-based recovery v5.5.0.4 application.
3). Now installed cm-9-20121011-ivendor-ariesve-rc5.zip by the navigation of "Install zip from SD".
It took hardly 4 to 5 seconds and displayed a message that it completes . no flash screen or anything came up and reboot.
4). After that installed gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip by the navigation of "Install zip from SD".
It displayed same complete message but within 5 to 8 seconds i think.
5). I Wipe data/cache/Dalvik cache after above step and then again repeat the process.
After that i did Wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition.
Now when i try to start my device then each time it comes into the CWM-based recovery v5.5.0.4' s recovery mode.
Ask further please if anything is unclear, i have tried too many things with it but yet not soft bricked.
I am able to switch into Download mode.
Did you try to re-install the ROM from the recovery ? (flash cm-9-20121011-ivendor-ariesve-rc5.zip again)

Hi Erinil,
I think i installed but not sure.
Could you elaborate the re-install ROM steps ?
I tried but same recovery display of CWM-based recovery v5.5.0.4, comes again and stay on recovery mode screen.
How my OS will be started?
It might be possible , i am doing something wrong.
Could you enlist the steps?
Ok.
1) Boot into recovery.
2) Wipe data/Factory reset.
3) Wipe cache.
4) Go to Advanced, then wipe Dalvik cache.
5) Go back, go to Mount & Storage, then Format System.
6) Go back, go to Install zip from SD Card => Choose zip from SD Card => cm-9-20121011-ivendor-ariesve-rc5.zip.
7) Do the same thing for the gapps zip.
8) Wipe data/Factory reset again (just to be sure).
9) Reboot.
This, I think, is the cleanest install you can do. Tell me the result.

Einril I tried it same as you explained in steps.
It didn't worked nor display any error during this process.
I think my problem is that. when i start my device it automatically entered into the recovery mode of CWM-based recovery v5.5.0.4..
whether i hold Vol+ and Powerbutton or not, it entered into the recovery mode each reboot.
It might be possible that OS has been installed sucessfull but how the OS will be started now?
Hum, that's strange. You say you can access to Download Mode ? Are you able to flash back the Samsung stock ROM ?
Hi Einril,
What does that mean? Means that Reverting to Gingerbread through Desktop Window OS?
I am unable to revert from my One Laptop (i7 3610 & WIndow 8 - 64 bit) but i am able to revert from my OLD laptop (OS is : window 7 32 bit)
Ok, I heard that some people are having issues with USB drivers on Windows 8. But if you can restore Gingerbread with your old computer, this is great.
Can you try to re-install a stock gingerbread firmware, with re-partition enabled, and then to try again the procedure I gave you ? This way, we are sure that your previous attempts have no effects on the result.
Einril, I have installed stock gingerbread firmware on my device and it is working now.
now guide please how to re-partition? Do you mean using CWM recovery ?
Could you simply enlist the thing which i will have to do now on fresh gingerbread OS?
I 'll tell you today night because right now i am not at home.
Well, if your gingerbread frmware is working, you don't need to repartition.
Now, simply re-install ClockworkMod Recovery, and re-do the whole installation process I gave you. By the way, you said you installed ClockworkMod recovery by flashing a zip in recovery. Isn't it supposed to be a .tar.md5 to flash via Odin ?
Yes i installed ClockworkMode Recovery from recovery mode.
I haven't tried with .tar.md5 using Odin4.43.
I 'll try with both throught Clockworkmode and Odin.
In fact i have tried many time 2-3 months ago too through TeamWin Recovery . problem was same.
It didn't start my OS instead displaying its recovery screen and operations.
i tried but all in vain.
Couldn;t be successful.
it just start from CWM recovery mode and so. not switching into the other mode.

Who says?
Which Rom are you trying to use and what are you coming from?
If flashing ODIN for JVU Rom :
Use ODIN with PIT File
PIT File Incase you need it : LINK
Open Odin and select 512 .PIT, and put in your files for : CSC, PDA, MODEM.
Check Re-partition and don't touch any other settings.
Turn off your phone and put it in download mode by holding VOL DOWN+MENU+POWER.
Attach Phone
When you have all the files needed in ODIN, say JVU Rom for example as thats what we are using here
Click Start let it Run
Once complete you will see S logo on phone
Unplug Phone > Let it power up then Power Off > Again into Download mode
Then plug in Phone
Click Reset on ODIN then in PDA put in CF-Root Kernel File for JVU to be Rooted *File is included in ODIN Files*
Same again when you see S Logo on Phone unplug Phone Cable
Close ODIN
Let phone boot up ....
What I do now is go into
Settings > SD Card and Storage > Unmount SD and Wipe that and then at the bottom Wipe Format USB Storage
Before doing this make sure you have what you need from the phone as it will ERASE everything!
Enable USB Debugging by going to Settings > Applications > Development > Check USB Debugging
Plug in Phone and copy over your chosen Custom ROM that you want
Reboot into Recovery : VOL UP + MENU + POWER
Wipe the 4 things (probably know these... you should do)
If not you choose these by using the left side keys on the phone and to apply changes click Menu key
WIPE : data/factory reset > cache partition
Scroll down and go to advanced
Dalvik Cache > Battery stats
Go Back
Install ZIP (ROM) from Zip Card
Reboot Phone when complete... DONE!
Hope this helps a lot of people if not just ask here if you are still having issues to save peole posting same questions again and again
I made up the first part, but after the phone went into recovery mode

I have exactly the same problem. I had froyo 2.2 im new to this odin all these settings. Yesterday i was tried rooting my phone and I did. but after I mounted a courrupted rom from the recovery. and my android doesn't want to load. I followed the same instructions you just gave him. on these posts but now when i turn on the phone its the logo comes and nothing loads. Only Downloading VOL DWN + MENU + PW is working.
Are you talking to me devildrake? No, your problem is different and you need to flash the rom again too, not just dbdata lol. Do this.
Flash Gingerbread, in Odin (I always used JW4 but JVU will be fine) with 512 pit file and repartition checked. Untick reboot. Once its finished, unplug the USB cable and take the battery out. Put the battery back in and boot into download mode. Reset Odin. USB cable back in. Tick reboot again. Put dbdata.rfs in PDA. Flash.
Should boot into gingerbread. I've done this a LOT of times... Then you can go back to Odin and root.
If that doesn't work then I'd download a different version of GB, download new 512 pit, and download a new dbdata.rfs. Must be one of those corrupt.

Hi,

Alright I am bloody confused here. Just what exactly are do you folks want to do? Do you want to format your internal storage, which is where your photos are normally stored, or do you want to factory reset the phone and uninstall all non system apps? Regarding the former, you can't do it with stock recovery. You have to either A) use a custom recovery or B) plug it into PC and just format it as you would do a usb thumb drive. As for the latter, A factory reset will uninstall anything that's not a system app (system apps are installed in the folder /system/app rather than /data/app) and wipe all app data including system app data. If you find that it's restoring apps and data, make sure you are not using the Google restore feature.
In any case, do not attempt to wipe the system partition. Doing so is similar to formatting your computer's C:/.

First of all, thank you for the answer, and secondly sorry for my basic english.
what happens is that any app works, I rooted the device and installed the JV5 version, apparently the system starts but appear a lot of windows related with the impossibility to load the different programs that the device need to work properly, I'm trying to upload some pics. I hope you could understand me, and sorry again.
Ps: What is shown in the last picture is something like: Sorry the application XXXXXX has been inexpedtly interrupted. try again.
Are you using titanium backup to restore app data? Sometimes that happens if you restore data for system apps from a different version.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Nop, I used the system recovery at the first time, as I couldn't recover it properly I was searching in different forums an decided to used ODIN to install the original version of Android, I think is Gingerbread 236 jw5 ¿?, after that the former apps I Had like Endomondo, Sygic navigator, Whatsapp, or so still appearing in the main screen, but don't work and the screen shown the message I upload yesterday.
Sorry, thank you for your answers.
I'm totally new in this subject (Here in Spain: Novato) I feel the problems is like the internal memory is locked and I can't handle on it
What files did you flash? And how many files were there in total

I followed this steps:
Step 1: Start Odin
Step 2:
a. Select PIT file as 's1_odin_20100513.pit'
b. Select PDA file as 'PDA_DXJV9_Deodexed_Zipaligned.tar'
c. Select PHONE file as 'PHONE_DXJV9.tar'
d. Select CSC file as 'CSC_OLBJV9.tar'
Step 3: Under Options: Check Re-partition, Check Auto Reboot and Check F. Reset Time
Step 4: Start the phone in the download mode
Step 5: Once ID:COM/phone is 'Added!!' click Start
Step 6: You will see a lot of red text after the flash is done, don't panic, just do a 'wipe data/factory reset' and reboot the device when done.
Step 7: Let the device boot all the way then turn it off.
Step 8: Re-enter Download Mode and re-flash only the CSC file [Step 2 d] without pit and without re-partition.
I fail to see the purpose of step 8. It seems unnecessary.

I was unable to fix it, so I decided to change mobile. Thank you all of you for your support.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II and I tried to get my phone back to stock ROM following this directions:
"1. Connect your device to your PC and copy uvlg3.flash2stock.zip to your internal SD.
2. Boot into ClockworkMod Recovery. To do this,
i. Power down your devi ce.
ii. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons until you see the Samsung logo appear.
iii. Release both buttons.
iv. Press the left bottom Menu capacitive button when you see the Recovery logo (white box with the android icon).
3. On the next screen, select apply update from sdcard using the Volume Up and Down buttons to navigate and the Home button to select.
4. Highlight uvlg3.flash2stock.zip on the next screen and press the Home button to select it.
5. Go back to previous menu and select reboot system now to restart your device."
It all seemed to work fine but in step 4, when i applied the update from sd card it appears in yellow:
E: short write of /tmp/sideload/package.zip(no space left on device)
Installation aborted.
As you can figure, im desperated!! so please if someone could help!!!
THANKS

I did all that, the CWM doesnt appear now, im in the android system recovery <3e> and my options are the foollowing:
-reboot system now
-apply update from sd card(here is the stock rom but when i apply it it doesnt work because of "insuficent space"
-wipe data/factory reset(did that already)
-wipe cache partition(did that already)
-install fota(dont know what it is but i did it anyway).
Thanks for the reply
aditional info
when i reboot my phone and press down the volume i appear in odin mode, it gives me 2 choices: reboot or download mode, if i enter the download mode it appears:
ODIN HOME
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-T679
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT KERNEL: UNKNOWN
(ANDROID ICON)
dOWNLOAdING...
Do not turn off target!
There is an alternative way to enter recovery, just pull your battery, hook up the usb cable (ummm phone to pc), press and hold the volume up button then drop in the battery. When you see recovery start let go of the volume button.
You can mount your computer through cwm or twrp recovery an move the stock rom from your pc to your external sd. Do full wipes before flashing (any ROM in my opinion)
Sounds like you need to put the .zip on ext_sd, then wipe your internal sd, or manually delete all of the files. Something is eating all of the space. You might want to put the custom recovery back on it, CWM or TWRP, then wipe it all and reflash the zip, then reboot.

4)In CWM, Select "update from sdcard" and select the update file from sdcard.
5)Enter Yes and Let it flash.
6)Goto to Advanced Menu and Clear Dalvik Cache.

8)Your Phone may recover to normal now.
9)If not, download RAW firmware for zenfone 4 and put it in sdcard.
10) Goto droidboot and select "Download from sdcard".
11) Congrats. Reboot phone and Now your phone will be okay without any data inside internal storage getting lost.
Use raw file download and copy it to sd and then use bootloader or default recovery and select sd download
