How to update to 4.3 when rooted

Hey all
I've just tried updating to 4.3 via the OTA download but as I am rooted the install aborts and leaves me without the upgrade.
Please could a kind person explain to me how to manually install the update? I've read so many articles and threads that I'm totally baffled.
I'm currently running the stock O2 UK rom, S-on. I'm also don't mind losing root during the update.
Any advice would be masively appreciated!
Thank in advance.

has nothing to do with being rooted or not. you need to be a bit more specific, which asserts fail during installation of the OTA?
also post a "fastboot getvar all" (excluding IMEI and s/n), and have you pulled the OTA file on to your PC?

Thanks for your reply. if i follow the instructions and take it back to stock will this get my warranty back? furthermore the .zip file has a different build number to me atm, will using the stock file brick my phone or will i go completely back to normal using the guru tool?
Thank you
Yes it will take you back to complete stock. The Rom is a earlier version. Once back to complete stock, you can take the OTA updates to take you to your original stock.
Make sure that you follow the guide precisely. There are more people having trouble getting back to stock so be careful.

[REQUEST] Root Guide for Dummies

Can someone make a detailed and noob friendly guide about rooting ?
Personally I'm confused with this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2646904
Thanks
Because that guide requires you to:
1: Downgrade back to 4.1.2 via this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658952
2: Root it via this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2440375
3: Install this recovery:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2649923
4: Install this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2780836
That guide is very confusing for new users

Thank you very much.
The only phone I rooted was X8, so now everything looks new.
Do I lose DRM keys by downgrading?
No only when you unlock your bootloader.

if you don't already have Lollipop, then start by posting your fastboot getvar all please without the imei number or serial number please, you want to keep those to yourself.
Thanks for replying, but I just realized that I'm not in the Verizon HTC One forum and have since posted in there. Doh!

(HELP-Q&A) Can I install and use custom recovery without rooting my phone?

Is it possible?

Yes it is. Go at this link https://twrp.me/devices/motorolamotox2014.html and just follow the instructions for users without root.
