Should i trade my iphone 5 for a htc one m7 or i should keep the iphone?
i absolutely love love my iphone but i want to try android
so should i trade it for m7 or keep the iP5 and wait to a better android device i can buy or trade with iphone
well, personally im to htc over Iphone - only had iphone 4s, but quickly got rid of it again and went to htc one later on (which i havent regret)
its a preference still, dont see why you would trade if you infact love the phone you have already just to try out android
i havent had the iphone 5 myself only played around with it from my friends who have it
still prefer android, no doubt.
i would properly wait till next launches of phones if you had in mind of buying a new, thats what i do.
yeh trade it for htc one loll, just install miuiv5 rom on it after, best of both worlds ps, make sure everything is workin on htc one before ie headphone jack and both speakers

M7 laggy? It was never laggy, it's one of the snappiest phones I ever used. Battery is another story. My stock M7 can last through out a day, but barely. My rooted M7 lasts for a fay and a half to two days without a problem

dude htc one m7 is da best lookin phone hands down , iv got the red one !!! its real fast too, no laqg watsoeva, maybe newer devices have beta cpu/gpu, but htc one still holds its own LOLL, WE ALWAYS COMPARE PHONES IN MY FAM ,s3, S4 , S5, IPHONE 5S , IPHONE5 , NOTE 2, my htc one still looks the best
yeah. you should trade it. LOL. my One M7 is the best phone i've ever have. you can't compare the battery life because it's depend on personal daily use. if you wanna try the purest Android system, try the LG Nexus 5. but with One M7 you have a full metal body instead of hard plastic. or do you wanna trade your iPhone for a HTC One M8?

I traded my iphone 5s for a htc one (m7) and havent had moment regret. The iphone 5s was/is a great phone, would recommend to anyday
but the htc one and android for that matter just gave me a lot more fun due to the android os being so much opener and the fact that i dont
like apple desciding what i can or not install or use on my phone.
And after rooting and installing custom roms the fun just got a lot better. Im even thinking about getting a second M7 so i have 1 for daily use (maybe stock..) and 1 for playing around with roms everything. For me this phone is just perfect, 4,7inch screen is excellent, the phone size is just right (shouldnt be bigger).
What is your reason for wanting a nexus 6? My reason is I want a device that delivers the full experience. I dont want to carry around more devices than i need to. I believe the nexus 6 can be my everything device for mobile. I wanted this after using a oneplus one for a little while. I really liked the big 5.5 inch screen and started to use my iPad less and less after getting it. All i keep thinking was if this was a little bigger and the resolution was a little bigger to match, it would be perfect. Well here came the nexus 6 with a 5.96 inch 1440p screen. I have a nexus 4 and have been loving it except the battery and the camera. So far from the hands on people are saying the camera and battery are better. Also the reception should be better than the oneplus on At&t. The nexus 6 looks big i hear it feels good in your hand and it is a beast with performance. After hearing this I immediately sold my iPad and my oneplus one. I am ready to carry around one device for all my mobile needs. I have big hands so i welcome the size.

My Nexus 4 has been showing its age lately in the battery department. I would be lucky to get 3 Hours SOT with the crazy battery. Plus if I reboot the phone in the middle of use my battery goes from 90% to 70% which drives me crazy.
While I know the N6 will not be the end all solution to my Battery life issues, I believe its no better time to upgrade since I skipped over the N5 in favor of this. Plus I am not wholly confident that the Next Generation Nexus devices will be viable for me if they end up becoming the first generation consumer ARA hardware. Something I would preferably like to avoid a year with until they can hammer out issues and wait out until the second generation hardware releases (2016-2017 release).

I've never used a Nexus device before, but on both of my Notes, I realized that I mostly use AOSP custom roms... maybe about 90% of the times (I usually switch up custom roms every month), there's maybe one of two TouchWiz roms that I liked, but all the other ones were always always AOSP (or AOKP, close enough). Now that Google has decided to join the spec race, I for one am VERY VERY happy that the Nexus 6 is so expansive. You Get What You Pay For!!
The Nexus 6 won me over the Note 4, the specs are so incredibly similar it's ridiculous!
So yeah, Nexus 6, I wantz for all the amazing custom roms that will be available on this type of device with such incredible power hosted inside! Can't wait!

I went iPhone s2, s3, nexus 4, oneplus, and now my 6 is preordered. I can't wait to get my hands on it. There are so many different rooms that always come out for the nexus devices. Now with the hardware the 6 has I can't wait for some amazing new roms to come out.

Good luck this Wednesday. I got my preorder last week.
Its the motorola nexus that we all thought would never happen. like Rossi going to ducati. I lust hope the phone works better then the ducati. Oh and there is the fact that my g3 is a lag beast. I pick up my wifes g2 and remember what a phone should run like sadly .
Screen size, fast charging, front facing speakers, lollipop and the fact that I have Jump and wouldn't get my monies worth if I don't use it.

sadly I am at work during the time they add stock(between 10 and 10:30) so i doubt i will get one tomorrow either.
After switching to the N5 from the iPhone 4, I liked the screen and eventually I realised I used it more than the tablet that I had and because of that a bigger phone would be the perfect one device for everything.

I'm on a Note 3 right now, and Monday or Tuesday it's time for my upgrade. I'm torn between a Note 4 and the Nexus 6. The last 3 devices I owned were Note 3, Galaxy S4, and Galaxy S2. I'm really looking to switch it up here, and step back from Samsung for a little while. The Nexus 6 is my first choice right now, seeing as the Note 3 has me pretty spoiled with the large screen and the s-pen. I guess my question would be, since I've been seeing mixed reviews for Nexus 6 around the web, does anyone here have any regrets buying this device so far? And if so, are any regrets stone cold deal breakers, or just minor issues? I'm really looking at giving "vanilla" android (if that's even such thing on xda) a run, and I've heard that the Nexus devices have had the most and best development as far as that goes. So I guess I'm asking if there's any major problems with the Nexus 6 that is not being mentioned in a standard review, before I go scoop one up in the next day or two. Many thanks in advance...
My only gripe with this device is the poor cell signal. My phone is constantly searching for a signal and it is really impacting my battery life. Other than that I am happy with this device, hopefully T-Mobile pushes the OTA update for WiFi Calling soon.
no regrets here. want unlockable, rootable device that I can do as I want with. this is my first Nexus device. got it from Moto direct. on VZW
have generally had moto devices in the past and like their overall solid construction.
like Samsung devices but they are always a but flimsy IMHO.
None at all, I came from my 2 G3's (D850 and F460) and haven't looked back. My wife liked my Nexus so much (except the size) she wanted a Moto X 2014 so I bought her one. This so hands down my favorite phone so far
If u get the nexus use HDR+ on your camera day and night looks amazing. I thought I would miss Samsung but I don't . I miss the knock on. With the g3 but that's something I can put on the nexus
My only regret was not buying this phone sooner.
I'd only have a regret if something with otherwise the same specs but a smaller screen came out within a month of release; I guess I also regret switching to T-Mobile right before release but that's a different issue.

If you have the time to tinker and are willing to wait for things to get fixed or turned into features, this is the phone for you. If you have been using Samsung devices and think you will get anything close to the features Samsung adds, especially to their Note line, forget it. One thing the Nexus will help you see and appreciate is all the care and hard work that goes into their overlay. Things you may have thought were standard user options turn out to be features of branded manufactured phones. I have much respect for the care that Sammy and LG and even HTC puts in their phones now that I'm pure Vanilla. So, yes// there are definitely some trade offs I was unaware of.

I have a Nexus 5, and I really like it, but it seems like it is almost time to upgrade.
A few questions for you owners and to-be owners:
Is it worth waiting for phones like the One M9, etc,. in your opinion?
Are the black levels really that noticably different on the Nexus 6 when compared to the Nexus 5?
Is it worth waiting for 64-bit and Snapdragon 810 processors?
Is it worth upgrading from the Nexus 5?
Considering Mobile World Congress is under 2 months away, I'm not sure if I should wait. The only other phone I'd likely buy is a One M9 (as the One M8 was the only non-Nexus phone last year with a sizable custom ROM / development community).
That said, HTC's One M9:
Never uses OLED/AMOLED displays
Probably won't use Quantum Dot (which is inferior to OLED)
Might or might not have a better development community than the Nexus 6
Is likely to have a better build quality than the 5
But probably won't have a large display or wireless charging
Might have a Snapdragon 810 octa-core / 64 bit
So - I'm not sure if it's worth waiting the ~1.5 months (1.5 months that I could be using the Nexus 6) to see what might or might not be better than the Nexus 6 based off of speculation for what the One M9 might be like.

Wait. Either android or the nexus 6 is buggy. Performance isn't great. By the time the m9 is released either android will be fixed or the nexus 6 well be abandoned.
The m8 was a beautiful device. Sense is also very close to stock android and pretty damn snappy. I was on the same boat when my upgrade came in December. I honestly just didn't want to wait u until March for unveiling then maybe april/may for purchase. Newer, better phones will always be released so you would have been asking yourself the same question when the m9 came out (should I wait another 5-6 months for the new nexus).
The m9 will most likely be gorgeous, if they base it on the m8. I've just gotten used to larger displays. A sub 5.5 inch display just isn't cutting it for me. The biggest pro is the 810 chip and whatever power saving abilities it will have. Performance wise, it might clock higher but even the n5 can handle everything you throw at it (app wise).
Definitely buy a nexus 6...nothing better than to have an untouched Google edition android phone..totally ideal for rooting and modifying highly.. Unlike the htc one..it has sense ui..and lots of security.. It wud give u a hard time... They both also have great specs no lag

It is a tough decision. If the nexus 6 had micro SD slot I'd drop the note4. But alas, it does not, but the note4 has many advantages over the nexus6. And of disadvantages. I wish Samsung would drop the physical buttons in favor of software navigation already. I hate touchwiz but it is tameable and the note4 is just about perfect minus the home and physical buttons. I longingly look at the nexus 6 and wait for the next manufacturer to mish mash the best of both the note4 an nexus 6. If the m9 or hima has a 5.5" screen like rumors say I would probably go for that. The m8 and sense were much more tolerable than touchwiz. I am gonna keep my m8 and it's status as my everything goto media player unless the hima blows it out of the water.

The thing is, the One M8 does have an admirably large development community - the Android Development subforum has ~80,000 replies! Almost matching the growth of the Nexus 5 development community over time. Since I use custom ROMs anyways, having a pure Google experience shouldn't be a problem with such a huge community (that, again, will likely have many custom ROMs based off of pure Android). I believe the developer versions HTC sells come with the bootloader unlocked, so security shouldn't be an issue.
That said, you do make good points!

One thing to keep in mond about the M9 is that there very possibly won't be a Google Play Edition of it since all signs are pointing to the GPE arrangement being ended.
The M8 has good developer support but as of late we have seen HTC really crack down on development. They have blocked S-Off on most 4.4.4 models and CM has a hard time especially with audio. It looks like the M8 will be the last of the great developement period for HTC unless they pull a fast one for us.

Could you elaborate on this? What is the implication of this on using custom ROMs? Does it mean that if HTC finds a way to permanently block S-Off in future versions we won't be able to use custom non-Sense ROMs?

Yes, I've always been a phablet user, older eyes need bigger displays, I started on the HTC HD2, then HTC Sensation, followed by AMaze, Followed by Samsung G4 then G5 then note 3, to LGG3 to Nexus 6 and Note 4. AS you can see, I like Phablets which to me seem small in my hands. As the previous poster said, The Nexus 6 with Lollipop is incomplete and has it share of bugs and imperfection, especially in options and settings. So many things you may take for granted on other devices turn out to be features of said device and not standard usability. I am waiting for the big update later this month or next to see what is added or addressed and what is considered a feature. A lot of press as claimed not much in the way of features or settings, or usability is going to be addressed because it is the way google as chosen to go. Unreal that they think the ambient notification helps deaf people more than a blinking LED, but that is their position. I disagree with their thought process and find it hard to believe that somehow the new notification system makes it easier to tell what you have received. To me it makes little sense but I am used to the old fashion LED system and may be biased in my thinking.

I have yet to get a phone that was unrootable if you needed to have root for some reason. In fact, now that I have the nexus six, it's the first phone that I have not rooted yet, only because I feel the phone should do most of the things I like without rooting and at that point root it to use titanium back up.
Most ROM's solve the performance issues by disabling decryption, right?
That said if HTC will actually stunt ROMing on the One M9, I might simply just get the Nexus 6. Nothing annoys me more than having to wait months upon months because a company decided that developers shouldn't develop.

That was the first thing I did was disable the encryption. Ive had absolutely no issues with performance whatsoever. This is the fastest phone I've ever owned. I came for the HTC m8. I don't know what's your carrier is but I'm verizon and I know things are getting tougher and tougher to unlock as far as bootloaders and even root. Just look at the Samsung devices on Verizon they are so locked down and i may be wrong but I'd be surprised if the new HTC m9 achieves s off for Verizon. I'm at the point now where if I can't have an unlocked bootloader and an easily rootable device I'm going to go ahead and switch to an AT&T SIM on straight talk and continue to buy devices at full retail as I have been doing. . The only reason I've stuck with Verizon is because I work in a steel building in the only reason I get signal is because there is a Verizon tower on the company property in the back and I still hardly get any signal inside.

This is same question I've been considering for a while too. I actually like HTC's skin (not nearly as much as Stock Android but still) and I'm sure it'll get plenty of development. But Stock Android is too good to resist.. and so are timely updates.
There's also the chance that future non-Nexus Android phones will be more locked down.
All in all, I want to see what the M9 brings to the table.
am a little bit of a htc fan boy as you can see in my signature i have the nexus 6 at the moment and i love it if you look around online the note about the snap 810 being serious throttled and having way bad over heating issues and the rumours that its going to be delayed just wont go away as the snap 810 is in the lg flex 2 and even our nexus 6 beats it in antutu and i was planing on getting the m9 instead but went with the nexus 6 as i dont really want to be the beta testers for qualicom and pay £550 for the privilege lol

It truly depends on what you want from a software perspective. No non-nexus devices development community ever compares in size to a Nexus Development community. OEM devices are notoriously difficult to get AOSP working well on, so if you want AOSP, Nexus devices are best for that.
So i smashed my Note 3 LCD. Have a new one on the way but gonna get rid of it.

Well, you are coming from Samsung, so you don't have an expectation of long-term support. The Nexus 6 is at the end of support.
The 6 is very nice, but rather dated. It will never get official support beyond 7.1.1. Camera isn't great. I plan to use mine for another year, as I don't like the Pixel 2 XL choices.
It all comes down to what price do you pay for it. $200, probably OK. $300 too expensive.

and a 6" screen. I like em big.
The ZTE Max pro is big, but not CDMA compatible.

I ran a Nexus 5 for a year and a half. I got a refurbished Nexus 6 on eBay for the same price I paid for a Nexus 5. $200, so far my Nexus 6 is a great device even though it is dated. For the specs and developer support that the Nexus 6 has it is well worth running. As all Nexus devices are carrier unlocked getting activation on a device is easy. Paying anymore than $200 on a phone is a waste of money due to the fact that hardware and software upgrade so rapidly. I would recommend the Nexus 6 to anyone that knows how to use it right.
It def a good solid device. And yes over 200.00 for any phone is a waste.

AT&T Nexus 6 devices are locked to AT&T. How many are floating around locked to the carrier is unknown; the Death Star logo was found to be easily removed.
It's a good thing the OP doesn't have Sprint. They are extremely reluctant to the point of xenophobia about adding non-Sprint devices, including the Nexus 6, to their network.

6.4 in screen. Friend has one at work . I was pretty impressed.
But my gfs daughter likes the nexus 6. So I will pick one up for her for xmas.

It was a great phablet once, but I will not lie, It is very dated. My shamu is nearing replacement time, and it's been my favorite phone/phablet I've ever had simply due to the custom ROM/kernel options and ease of rooting/unlocking the bootloader. It's just outright heavy and huge too. TL;DR: I wouldn't buy it now, but would not have second guessed in 2014.
I bought my n6 after cracking my note3 screen... i think it was about 2 years ago.. i still love this phone.. but thinking the next OnePlus 5T or whatever the iteration will be is what i will go after.. though the current oneplus 5 seems pretty nice.. just small screen.. the new pixel 2 xl is alright but $$$ and i fear that devs wont be swarming to it because of the price
