Hello fellow Xperia Lovers,
I am thinking of buying this fine technology and moving from xperia ZR (my first foray with Xperia is with xperia active) and aside from VGA front Facing and not so good battery life, my main gripe with the ZR is that when I use the phone long, the back portion heats up... very warmly...
So i read on another thread about issues encountered with the Z3 and I think, for my use, they are acceptable... however, I am happy to read that battery life is good with the Z3 even with heavy use... with this in mind, I would like to ask if, with heavy and long usage, does it heat up high? or is the heating acceptable? for ZR, continuous gaming for about 10 minutes would be heating up quite high.. which is not acceptable to me.. how is the Z3?
Thanks...

I came from the ZR and that phone was awesome then I moved to Z1c and now to Z3c. I have to say the Z3c would be perfect for you and the screen is much better quality while you will have the better storage option for Z3c. Moving from ZR to Z1c was not as good as moving to the Z3c as screen size and weight are much better, battery life is awesome and the camera is the biggest change from ZR. You won't regret it especially for gaming.

Thanks for your reply.. but what of the heating in the back? i presume you do not have a problem comparing the heating of ZR vs Z3c since you did not mention it?

It does get a little warm on the back when intensive gaming, but I would say its not greater than the ZR heat wise and its not noticeable to me. I normally play with emulators such as psp, gba, ps1 and the occasional RPG so I might not be the best person to advise you on this.

Heating of the backpanel is really acceptable. Already playing Colin McRae Rally (childhood's coming back, yay ^_^) and works like a charm while being just a bit warmer.
I had the ZR and it got quite hot with just browsing the internet, let alone gaming. The Z3C has no heat issue but I think you should wait a few more months as there'll be some better alternative you might consider.

Hi guys after reading about the problems associated with the xperia z is it worth getting still? I will be using it for games like GTA and similar so just worried about the heat and the back cover coming off. Also is the battery life decent compared to the S4. I like the xpeia z and the camera and the fact it is cheaper, I would get the xperia zl but it is not released in Australia.
Would I be best off just getting an S4?
Thanks for the input,

As Xperia Z gets warmer and warmer when you play games such as GTA Real Racing 3 NFS etc, you will feel it lag worse and worse.
Then you will be a bit disappointed.
It's the same with Galaxy S4, because, I think, 1080p resolution is quite a challenge for both APQ8064 and Exynos Octa.
Please don't think of me as a Samsung seller. To be frank, I think Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2(especially when equipped with custom kernel such as Perseus) are recommended for playing games.

got to agree with flytomars with this one, i have been using my sony xperia z for a whole month now. Proud owner btw:victory:, and i'm a power user of gaming and on9 almost daily.. if your a user who really want to play games 5hours a day or surfing by mobile data or wifi almost 5hours daily well you should get phones which have removable battery, ports which are not covered and smaller screen size. because as flytomars says, those resolution challenge the core much more.. i do recommended samsung galaxy s3 or nexus 4, because with extra battery and charging ports which are not close u can beast it out daily with your phone
BUT,
its up to you actually
personally for me, i happy with my xperia z. it stand out more than the owner:laugh: having that dust and water protection is important to me because im a clumsy guy:silly: plus my hands sweats alot

Yes!:fingers-crossed: What's more, Xperia Z's camera(with the latest firmware) can put other phones to shame.

I was thinking of doing that when I get time, in two weeks I have a week off so will probably go to the shops and have a look. Thanks for the help
Also has anyone experienced the heat problem I have been reading about?
Heating just happens..
Well first of all good luck.. May you get the best phone..:good::laugh:
Heating is something that is bound to happen with those 4 cores under the hood and non removable back cover. I have had XZ with me for the past 2 months now and quite frankly I haven't had too much trouble about heating as when it heats up I put it in a bowl of water
Honestly it(heating) bugs a bit, however, you cannot escape heating as you are pushing the cores to the limit hence, they are bound to be hot. Playing 3D and heavy games will make any phone hot so I would recommend to go and play with all the options you are contemplating and choose the one that suits you
I chose XZ.!

two things to be concerned about
- you cannot change batteries
- bootloader is unlockable on my new xperia Z and I am very pissed off, I cannot root my phone, Sony are NOT hacker friendly, I had no problems rooting my Samsungs, and HTCs in the past.
rooting and unlocking the bootloader are totally separate things
Hey guys,
I've got the XZ currently but I really like the idea of the huge screen on the Z Ultra, I enjoy gaming and watching TV on my XZ at the moment. Is it really worth my while upgrading to the Ultra?
Any pros and cons? Battery life?
After peoples experience rather than the biased reviews in Techradar and the like,
Yeah, it's worth your while. The screen is fantastic and the open headphone jack really helps !
Camera and speaker volume are a tad disappointing but that's too be expected considering the slimness and the waterproofing.
Battery life is good, 4 hours of screen on with constant WiFi/data

It is completely dependent on your use . The XZ Ultra has a better processor clocked at 2.3 ghz , so it is significantly faster than the XZ. If you are into hard core gaming then this will definitely benefit you largely! If you are into photography you will be depressed because the XZ Ultra has an 8 MP camera with no flash. It severely downgrades from the XZ. XZ Ultra is difficult to carry too. But given your choices about the watching TV and movies you can go for it surely !
Dont forget to hit THANKS IF I DID HELP ! CHEERS!
Cheers for the replies guys. I'm going in store to have a better look and maybe try one. The size does put my off a little. I'm a keen cyclist so the size of the handset could potentially cause an issue if I don't have a bag with me.

well i lost my xperia zl and need a new primary phone quite urgently...cant decide between xperia t and sp (yes in a bit of tight budget)
what am basically after right now is the display and battery life...also how does the xperia t perform as compared to sp ..is it very noticable? (tbh i would prefer a little low graphic detail than overheating and throttling)
my pros for t :
Roms i like are available
way better deign
cheaper
worries about t:
performance
battery
any suggestion is appreciated
If I were you I would take a look at the Motorola moto g. It has a nice screen in my opinion and battery life is great. It performs better than my T and it has android 4.4. The only con is the camera which is kind of bad. I don't know about rom development for the moto g but I assume there's quite a lot. And best of all, it's cheap!

Talking about battery life on screen time is about 4-4:30 hours with normal behaviour I'm getting through the day but struggle in the evening when battery is low
If I were you I would wait a bit and see what is coming in the next months in the middle price segment because T is would not be my first choice ( bought it because of the price as well and the bad camera in the moto g and missing sd slot) BTW what bugs me most is this unbelievably tiny notification led... Had an XPERIA S and that one you could actually see from all perspectives, the one from XT I'd hardly to notice when looking at it directly... :'( why the hell Sony

My opinion is that T is a better phone than SP even though SP has a higher battery and slightly higher processor.
The T has a much better build quality than the SP and the design of T makes it easier to hold and use than SP.
SP does have the nice illumination bar but then it could be too bright at night or even stand out too much in a office environment, where the subtle notification led of T is better. I also hated the size at first but when you get used to the phone, you know which spot you need to focus on to see if it is blinking.
Performance might differ to individuals as it is dependant on how many apps you have.
Battery wise, I've gone from 100% to 0% in just over 4 hours with constant screen on usage on varying phone signals (being on train...).
One issue with my T is that others do not hear me well on the other end if I speak softly and I've narrowed it down to the actual microphone on phone.
Thanks Guys
ive placed my order for the T ...should get my device in a week
Good choice going for T. It's a well rounded device. I have it for over an year now and had no major problems with it.

Hi, I am thinking about buying a new phone and I can't decide between Xperia Z and LG G2. They are roughly the same price in my country. I don't care much about the software, since I am going to flash AOSP or CM anyway. Also I don't care about camera too much. I care about display and durability. I like Xperia Z, but the battery life is a huge dealbreaker for me. So I'd like to ask how is the performance and battery life on Lollipop..
Xperia Z
Pros
SD Card Slot
Waterproof
Great looks
Better manufacturer support IMO
LG G2
Pros
Battery life
Better performance

It's like choosing between apples and oranges. Both taste good, it depends on preferences.
Waterproof feature yes it's great, but if you listen to music on the phone you might want to look for Z1/Z2/Z3. Xperia Z has the headphone jack covered and it's very unconfortable listening to music on it. Also the cover caps are not exactly ment for intense usage, inserting and pulling the caps frequently might result in loss of waterproof. They have a tiny rubber on the cap that might come off. It happened to me once after 8 months.
Battery life isnt great but it lasts through the day with intense activity and bluetooth music.
It does look F***ing great and the SD card slot is a huge plus. I have 64 gb on it. Phone memory is for huge games and SD is for music, movies and pictures.
While regarding performance you can't really tell the difference. Xperia Z is also snappy and i didn't encounter any lag in menues or such. It's heavily moded so i expected to see poor performance but no.
Conclusion, buy the Z1 or Z2 or if your wallet is feeling fat, Z3. You'll get better battery life, brighter screen, better camera, and ease of acces to the headphone jack
it's z1 and LG G2 not XZ and G2

I second his opinion, XZ was more of a concept phone. Rather buy the Xperia Z1 or Xperia Z2.

If i had to decide, whether to buy a Z or G2, i would have chosen the G2! The only flaw i see is the lack of the possibility to expand the storage.
A few words to concerning your list:
- The offered waterressistance of the Z is a mere wish, so this part should not count!
- Design is so individually.....
- Battery as well as screen should be a clear pro for the g2
If you can afford a z3 compact - i would choose this!
But you asked for oppinions whether to buy a "Z" or a "G2".

I seriously have no idea why are you even comparing these two phones. you can blindly go for. LG g2. not that i am underestimating xperia z. they dont have anything in common to compare
LG g2
Snapdragon 800, 1080p 60 fps video recorder, optical image stabilisation, amazing display, IR port. though its limited by storage space, you can go for 32gb variant. which i would say more than enough.
Xperia z
water proof, almost outdated processor. camera is good but its not upto lg g2. ya thats it. if you are comparing as to money. i would rather suggest you to buy Xperia ZL which is exact xperia z without water proof and lesser price and IR port is a plus in Xperia ZL.
Thanks for your opinions.....I may get Z1
well being the xperia fanboy i love xperia phones
but on the logical side, my cousin has been though 3 LG G2's all returned because of horrible battery life. as soon as it updated to KK the battery performance dropped.
besides the issue of the battery's was not charging because of 3rd party charges.
moral of story LG does not play nice with 3rd party chargers..
Good morning everybody,
So here's the situation, I actually have an LG G2, Awesome phone, and I want to return to the Xperia family, I don't have any problem with my G2 like software or hardware, but it is cursed, I bought it like, last august, on month later, it broke, I repaired it and one month later the same problem the screen broke, so i'm a bit of maniac right now lol, and now i'm facing a dilemma, knowing that i'll buy the next xperia flagship, Am I going to buy the Z1 ? or the Z2? please help me a little bit, I prefer the Z1 but, like the Z2 has a better camera and cpu, so is it worth to buy the Z2 ? or will I stick to the Z1 ?
Thanks everybody have a nice day

As far as I know, the Z1 and the Z2 (even the Z3) have almost the same, if not the same, 20.7 Mpx sensor. The difference is the available features that Sony has allowed to be available for each phone. The CPU is only a minor bump if you look at it, and won't really make THAT big of a difference. But if you want something that could potentially be more "future proof" then go Z2. Besides, the Z2 has a MUCH better display, and the stereo speakers are better than the bottom speaker of the Z1.
P.S. I have an Xperia Z1. Goodluck on choosing bro! Maybe look at reviews and comparisons of the phones on Youtube.
