Anyone else getting this and found a solution? Way to turn off the noise cancelling mic?
Seems that's the issue, feedback from noise reduction circuitry and secondary mic. I've taped over the mic hole, but no dice.

Hi folks,
I think my ear piece speaker in the phone has packed up - no sound on a call from it! Headphones and BT headset work.
I cant find a replacement speaker part (it clips in to the front housing) - does anyone know where I might get one and maybe also the cable/board that controls it in case these are gone?
Many thanks
Ant
For info I found TechGSM had them.
When I make calls without a headset, the sound quality from my mic is very poor. The way I sound on the receiving end is static-y and just not very clear...
However! When I plug in my headset the sound is much clearer. This is an indication to me that its not a software issue but a hardware issue...
Does anyone else have this same problem? I've read somewhere that the fix is to just disassemble the phone and nudge the mic. Because of some manufacturing fault, part of the mic is covered... Has anyone here done this?
I seem to have a problem when using the speakerphone. I can't be heard on the other end. Regular calls are fine.
I'm using Cyanogenmod 10.1.3. As I understand the phone, the regular microphone is at the bottom edge on the keyboard part of the phone. There's another microphone (noise cancelling?) on the top edge near the power button. The speaker is the slot on the back. Does that have a microphone function too?
I recently replaced the earpiece like so many other people have. Could I have disturbed something near that top mic?
I was wondering if there's a way to test the mic near the power button.
Thanks,
Paul
Looking for an external Mic that is windproof, does anybody have any recommendations?
I'm hoping to do some outdoors videos on my phone but wind will likely be an issue with audio.
TIA
Might be a bit too late, but what I use is a normal outdoor mic (chinese noname) and I pulled the hairy foam cover from a cheap windproof mic and mounted it over it. Works like a charm, unless in a hurricane of sorts...
Is anybody finding the microphone on their Mix to be too quiet? When I use snapchat, skype, and phone calls, the person on other end complains that I'm barely audible. However, when I record something with the recorder app, it sounds much louder and clearer than a recording in snapchat under the same conditions. I have a feeling it's the noise cancelling microphones on top that are muffling the main microphone, but I don't have a way to test this. I've checked the mic grille for debris and already cleaned as much as I can without disassembling the phone. I don't think it's a hardware issue, because again, the issue seems to be app-dependent. I had this problem on stock MIUI 8 global, but now I'm running the latest RR build with Dragonxia, and the above scenarios still hold true. Anybody else experiencing microphone issues or has any idea how to solve this?
What case are you using? Maybe you've got one that blocks some of the mic holes? I use mine naked and haven't had a problem with microphone on miui 8. There are known mic issues on RR/Lineage ROMs.
