[Q] Restore stock Firmware - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently installed the Titan Prime Rom for my xt1064. It started glitching out so I decided to go back to my stock firmware. The only firmware that I have found is from this link: motofirmwaredotcenter/files/category/38-titan/ (first one)
Anyone know if this firmware is flashable? I plan on using the following guide: techtrickzdotcom/how-to/how-to-reinstall-official-firmware-on-2nd-gen-moto-g-2014/
I wanna go back to fully stock because I don't have any backup phones in case this one bricks or something. Some advice would be greatly appreciated too!
(please replace dot with . in the links. I havent made 10 posts yet so i cant post links )

Look at this thread, it should have everything you need.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...dows-tool-moto-g-2014-xt1064-restore-t2957167
BTW, I'm suprised you had that many problems with Titan, I'm using the 1.02 Unified and it's been rock solid on my XT1064. Not one glitch or problem.

Thanks!
My Volume up button has stopped working. And when it does work it brings volume up all the way with just one click. It might be a hardware problem but i'm restoring to stock just to be sure.

Let me know how that restore works out for you. I haven't used it, but I'm curious as to how it went on the XT1064.

Return to stock

Hi i hope someone can help me i would like to go back to stock Kitkat after being on CM12 lollipop for a while but i am unsure iff i have downloaded the correct stock rom. Could someone please have a look and let me know iff i have downloaded the correct Rom. This is the rom i downloaded XT1052_RETAIL-EU_4.4.4_KXA21.12-L1.26_54_cid7_CFC_1FF.xml. Before i flashed cm12 i was running Kitkat 4.4.4 and i am in the UK. I intend to do this procedure using Rsdlite.
Make sure you dont downgrade... put your phone in fastboot mode and check the bootloader version of your phone and let me know... AFAIK you Will be ok with the firmware you downloaded... Just take more precautions before flashing through rsd.. REMEMBER NEVER DOWNGRADE or else you will be hard bricked... As long as you dont downgrade and your firmware version matches your carrier you are good to go...

Ok i think you are all ready and set up to flash the stock firmware, again make sure that your phone is XT1052. And then go ahead and flash that stock firmware... And dont forget to edit the XML file and remove the lines that have "getvar'" written in them.. Save the xml file and flash through rsd.. again take precaution of the Boot loader you dont want to downgrade!
Here is a little heads up or info of boot loader's according to the firmwares for you :
30.70: original 4.2.2
30.71: 4.2.2 camera update
30.B2: 4.4
30.B4: 4.4.2
30.B7: 4.4.4
The order that I've written above is: (Bootolader: Android Version)
So you are on 30.B7 bootloader right now so you can flash 4.4.4 easily... But DONT EVER TRY TO FLASH BELOW 4.4.4...
Good luck mate...

IF the original motorola back is on the phone, there is some very fine/small print at the bottom of the back. It will have the FCC ID, Model number, etc. It could be hard to see, you might have to tilt/twist the phone so the light shines off it just right, or use a magnifying glass if you're my age.

Hello guys just to update i have had success in flashing the stock firmware using rsdlite and thankyou for the help you all provided. Their is just one more thing i believe the moto x has been updated to lollipop in the time i was on CM12 . Now that i am back on kitkat is their any way i could get the official lollipop update through normal system update as when i check it is not being offered.
Same here I'd like to get the official lollipop. I have the XT1050, its a weird phone but pretty cool. The latest Android version I have is 4.4.2
Looks like you're ahead, lol

Im surprised i think you should at least be on 4.4.4 by now but perhaps its a carrier restriction. The reason i want lollipop update is because i am now wanting to sell the phone and it will demand a slightly higher value being on the latest software.

I thought that myself but according to Motorola's website Android 4.4.4 hasn't even been release for the XT1050
Plus I don't know what carrier the phone has. There's no carrier label ANYWHERE on the phone

the official android lollipop update for the Moto X (2013) hasn't been released world wide... You have to wait for motorola to release it for your model of X..So just wait for the Update to pop up it self... And if you got successful you could appreciate us by hitting the "Thanks Button" on our posts which helped you get through your problem

I am familiar with this issue it used to happen to me too sometimes. CM12 is very good but i think because their is not a stable release yet their are still some little glitches. Otherwise most of the time it works really well and very customisable. Iff i wasnt going to sell my phone i would have definetly stayed with cm12 their doing a great job.

Not sure why is not root able if it has 4.4.2. Read the entire OP and you should be able to root.

I don't know where the files are. If you read that OP in the link i have you it will tell you that you need to download the nce file then use towel root to root. It will work. Then in that same thread you will be able to upgrade to LP.

Another question is SD card needed for this? I don't see them saying anything about it in this thread hopefully.. the device won't be mine so I wanna keep it as stock and usable as possible but root will come in handy to remove bloat

Yes. Use the ap slot to downgrade. You do not need sd to do it. After you are rooted read the top of the op about how to get Flashfire. You'll also need busy box i think.

what's funny is I tried to root with towel then kingroot now on boot shows custom when it's really not lol at least not yet or even root shouldn't show custom.
EDIT: rom loaded fine. I hope somehow it did not get re-locked to AT&T sim only though will have test my foreign sim to test
EDIT2: sim unlock seems to be fine my Polish (Play Sim) roamed on AT&T
No problem. It's barley 9:30 here in Texas. When you get ready to go up to 5.0 using the method in that thread make sure to set your screen timeout to 10 min. After flashing 5.0 with flashfire it took about 10-15 min for mine to boot back up.

Flashing! bunch of weird code on phones screen lol.
Kinda funny had the phone for few hours and already playing with it to make it better lol. Would you happen to know if there is any easy way to get extra languages? I will need polish if possible (more locale2) can do it but I think it only changes like half of locale so not everything is translated.

ok it appears now to be loading the rom stuck on AT&T logo like you said for you it took 10 min .I flashed the stock not deodexed and lolipop is here LOL that was easy process.
Last question and I will stop bothering you hopefully which root apps you use to make it faster? xposed is not that great yet on LP so I am not sure if it's worth using it for now.

I would stay away from xposed for now like you said. It's not fully compatible. I don't use any apps to make it faster. I just use titanium backup to remove bloat. But right now I'm running TMS 2.0 for my rom and it's blazing fast. And i don't have any problems with it. At first you would get media fc but he has a fix for it now.

SM-N920W8 ROOT not in the list

Hi guys, first time poster here, I was on this thread
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/development/dev-pre-root-firmware-twrp-testing-t3183877
and it said on it that the model SM-N920W8 was supported for the spaceX kernel.
Once I clicked on this link
Code:
http://samfirm.net/post/129813196562/spacex-kernel-note5-s6e-plus
I dont see the SM-N920W8 model in the list of Supported devices status, unless he forgot to put it I don't see it and I doubt its the SM-N9208 cuz this one is a dual I think.
So did someone actually use it for SM-N920W8 and it worked with no issues? Mine is the rogers version in Canada.
thnx

Hi and welcome,
If you follow the download link for "all N920", pretty sure that's the file you need:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=39339
SpaceX-Kernel-v0.1_N920W8(official).tar.md5 ; should be flashed with Odin.
Also, remember that this root method will trip the Knox flag permanently (Void warranty).
EDIT: I actually did not tested it. Someone else could confirm, although I feel quite confident.
While I can verify the above kernel works on my W8 (Rogers), I cannot seem to shake the issue of random reboots.. At least once a day the phone will reboot on its own, and almost every phone call, the phone will reboot a couple of minutes in.
I love having a rooted device but the compromise of stability is making me consider going back to factory stock... Using the 0.1, 0.2, and noble kernels have all yielded the same symptoms. Anyone have a suggestion?

Hello where did you get the kernel to root the note 5 canadian version or how do you do it thank you
I've been told my SkyHigh SM-N920T kernel works with SM-N920W8. You can find it on the T-Mobile Note 5 original android development forum.
Please give us a link of those files!

I don't know what version you have, I got the N920W8... Here is what I did, hope that helps.
*NOTE* N920TW8 is the N920W8 version combined with N920T version. They are basically identical. Just in case you were wondering where the N920W8 is since you will only find N920TW8 in the list, go here

grab that file above and flash it with philZ recovery (that's what I did)
you can grab philZ from the same link of the kernel, either the MD5 if you are using odin or the zip if you will flash.
and that's it! I had no issues on my phone at all, I installed WANAM's xposed and all is good.
Thanks for your help

Can't root VS9803AA Update

Has anyone been able to root the phone after the Verizon VS9803AA update? I have a G2 that was never rooted. The digitizer failed so I replaced it with an OEM LCD+Digitizer and suddenly the phone can only be used when there is bright light. I went ahead and replaced the light sensor, but it doesn't make a difference. I used an application to check the light sensor and it performs just as my G3. My thought is that the problem is software based.
If I manually reboot into recovery, I get the icon of the android with a red exclamation point. Plugging in the USB and holding the volume up does not bring me to download mode, it just displays the battery charge. Did Verizon successfully block the ability to root?
I'm having the same problem with not being able to root I've used IORoot which isn't compatible with lollipop, avicoh one click and . bat which get up to rebooting the phone but ends in an error reading "The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value."
so i read about Injecting root in to system image and then pushing image back to phone. But i haven't seen specifics for the LG G2 have you had any success in rooting the phone with the new VS9803AA Update
The phone as the VS9803AA update and I think it is the cause of the proximity sensor problem. I've read some other posts from people that had rooted and took the update. A different situation, but they have a similar problem. In one of those threads I had read about the bootloader version having changed. It is almost as if Verizon killed the ability to do a recovery on the phone. Nice huh?

Nice wouldnt be the adjective but if the bootloader is different is it possible to extract it and build a root with the new bootloader.
I am new to this however i'm a quick study and have rooted devices in the past ( manually ) I'm just not a developer so there has to be some one working on this right?
In the meantime is it possible to flash an older firmware I'm scared to try with out knowing for certain.
I too am trying to root the VS9803AA with IOroot and it says there is not yet an unlock for this version. I am very frustrated.
EDIT: I did discover how to root! I used the tool found here.
Now if I can figure out something to replace FreeGee, which does not work with AA...

I'm sure it was stock, because this is the first time I've ever tried to root and I did check the software version (VS9803AA) and it said, "Official." Now it says, "Modified."
My original goal in doing all of this was to open up the T-Mobile bands so I can have LTE again. Just left Verizon. But the youtube tutorial I was watching asks me to use FreeGee and it just is not compatible with 3AA as far as I can tell.
To root: webtrickz.com/how-to-root-lg-g2-running-lollipop-with-lg-one-click-root/
To flash TWRP: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=b007.autorecvs980
I haven't tried AutoRec yet, but a review says it works for the 3AA.
Hope this helps, let me know!

Hay there,
Use kingroot the easiest way to root lg g2 without any trouble, try it and let me know thanks
I'm in the same boat - got this Verizon LG G2 from my sister fixed the LCD screen because the digitizer had dead spots. Can't root tried every method I could find and Verizon appears to have patched any working exploits. Also have the same oversensitive proximity sensor. Great job Verizon!!!
UPDATE:
I have root finally! Flash the prior software version 39a as I was not able to get anywhere with 39aa. Used Kingroot to obtain root and installed recovery!!! I installed Xposed and adjusted the values for the proximity and light sensors so that is no longer an issue also.

Man u r great. My another problem is resolved. Hotspot is now working. Sometimes a message appears that you cannot use Hotspot as Verizon sim is not detected. But when I switch three or four times on and off, the Hotspot enabled. Huge thanks.
One more question, I want to install custom recovery? Which is suitable for 39A? Thanks in advance. [emoji4] [emoji4]

My stock is too much laggy. I used cyanogen for my S3 and it was working wonderful. I was using lollipop for my S3. That was stable, fast and was packed with features. The LG G2 rom is dead slow. Thanks Suleman for your time and valuable comments.

Im not saying its bad to flash i personally recommend it to you but in stable form ,as it has bugs and in development stage n one more thing if you are camera lover then cynogenmod cam sucks your expectations , stock cam is far way better than this . if you really interested to flash something then go for xdabbes rom which is stock based , search the forum and you will get that,
Good luck

is there any possible way of saving my old moto g6 play and make it work again?
if you had it bootloader unlocked and you are able to at least boot up to the bootloader screen you should be able to save the old one using my guide with stock firmware

I do believe you need to use the firmware in the folder that says retail.

The top is the firmware that came with the phone. The bottom is an update. Do the bottom one.
