Updated to lollipop rooted via this manner, third method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/update-procedure-lollipop-5-0-oc1-t3063760
Using the stylus in S-note is an exercise in frustration now. The phone seems to miss every fifth stroke or so when writing out a word quickly, compared to kitkat. Tested three different stylus (stylii?) on two different AT&T Note 3 both updated to lollipop via the same manner, both have the same problem.
What makes me think this is a software problem is that action note works just fine. Furthermore, I have a T-mobile note 3 running lollipop and S-note works just fine. Thinking it was the screen assembly of the AT&T note 3 I actually just swapped the screen from the tmobile to the AT&T, and the problem still persists.
Anyone with similar experiences?

Yep. Exact same problem. My phone is not rooted. The stylus writing seems to only be a problem within S Note. Writing elsewhere has no problem. I reinstalled Kit Kat and it's back to normal, but I'd like to reinstall Lollipop. It was rather nice otherwise although, I think it used more battery.
Ditto... bummer, I use the stylus all the time in s note

Same problem here with Canadian Note 3. Only on SNote. I hope there's a fix somewhere.

Hi, I have had a Samsung Galaxy S for about a month, it's my first Android phone and things had been going reasonably well until yesterday. I was messing about with a little drawing app when the phone locked up and a few seconds later the screen went blank. After about another 10 seconds it came back on and was on the unlock screen. I don't think it went through the normal boot animation though.
I started using it again and about 30 seconds later it crashed in the same way but this time I was on the home screen with no third party apps running. I have used it since and it has so far been OK but I am a little wary.
How common is this kind of thing? I wasn't expecting this kind of thing from Android since it is effectively Linux. I mean even Windows Mobile didn't do this to me. Basically I'm just concerned in case there is a hardware fault.
The phone is running the original firmware with only a handful of third party apps, none of which run at startup.
you forgot to mention the model number and the ROM version that you are running.
there are some similar issues reported by other people regarding the band selection bug.
but it's seems to work better with newer firmwares
there's a sticky about it, not sure if your case is exactly the same or not
My stylus frequently does not register with my Galaxy Note. At first, I thought it was a stylus issue, so I bought a replacement (also tried my pen from my Thinkpad tablet). The replacement had the same behavior: the stylus works after reboot for a while, then it stops. It seems to stop randomly, and then it starts working again randomly. The *only* consistent behavior I have found is that it works frequently after reboot and.. get this.. it works after I toggle my Wifi. I've been monitoring battery temp/voltage to see if there is any correlation, and also CPU speed, but I haven't noticed anything. I also tried a full reset, expecting it to work fine and the stylus had problems right from the beginning (on the device setup screen) without reinstalling any software or restoring from backup. I did have a protective screen, but I removed that and it made no difference. My phone is in otherwise good condition and hasn't been abused in any manner. Thoughts?
Recently I have read quite a few posts stating the problem of s-pen/digitizer? Is it true? I mean do these problem occur (where s-pen loses its potential of functionality) over time? Hence making it of no use. The main catch for Note is obviously the S-pen. Hence might disturb the consumers.
Maybe, it's the rom, try flashing another stock rom, I have trouble (and more with me), with the KKA rom so maybe that helps n

So today my n3 is getting laggy and the screen isn't responding to touch at times. Have restated a few times and tried clearing default launcher from Nova to tw. Doing it on both at times and tw even gave me a fc as well.
Any thoughts?
Is stock and just rooted with using xposed

If only that simple. It's been rooted for weeks(about as month) and with xposed. Today is the first instance of it. Seems turning power saving mode of seemed to help some but still occurring. Example is when playing subway surfer can't move the guy or anything. Went into task manager ram getting near 2gb and cleared that. But nothing really in active to justify why so much ramgetting used up.
Re read mine. When I said "just" I meant that is the only thing done to our. Haven't tried SS or rom yet

Just one more thought, is your phone in a case and does the case have a wide border? If the border touches the display it could register as a touch and confuse your device. if it is touching in too many places such as 5 then your touch would be ignored. This could be caused by temperature changes making the case expand and contract, it also could just be you handling the case and putting pressure in certain places while trying to use it. This is just a though though as I had a similar issue on another phone once.
Thanks. The case is the Samsung s-view I think. The one with the Window screen when you flip it close. Have had it on since owned a well.
I'm guessing the only other option would be to flag back to stock and then re rooting again?
So here is my odd question if do. Mine came stock with mi9 and I rooted with dlv then did the ota trick to mj5 and kept root. Would I need to find how to go back to mi9 or would I be able to Odin to a stock mj5? That's something I'm not 100% on atm

I have a Note 4, with Maximumn Overdrive MM ROM. I have considered it a relatively good performer, given the age of the phonem, and the large number of apps installed.
This isn't 100% of the time, but a lot: I am finding that it not only lags horribly, but it actually freezes up. Today, I was trying to look up something on Maps, and I just couldn't use it.
I turned off BT, and it started working fine.
Do I just need to get a newer phone (well, I do want to do that)? But it seems to me it shouldn't hit it this hard.
Anyone running a Note 4 with the Zenwatch 3?
Thoughts?

Try Odin flashing stock firmware...
Most likely it will solve the issue you are having.
I have a S7 Edge phone and my watch works perfectly.
Right now I am Chrome Casting to TV, downloading a
new rom as well as reading new posts here and I have
both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled all the time.
I get no lag at all.
Good luck and have a great day.

I may give it a try. Reloading my phone is a large task, so many apps and data.
Would be interesting to hear if anyone wiht a Note 4 is working well with the watch.
Why not try a full os reset before going back to stock?
I tried stock. Not much help.
I have since reloaded the ROM, after doing 3 wipes, and is doing much better.

I think you answered your own question.
When I have odd things happening that I can't figure out I just do it the methodical way: Reset the phone and slowly add apps until I find the culprit.
On my Verizon Note 9, not rooted. Holding down the power button doesn't help. I have to hold the power and vol down key to reboot phone.
Has anyone else had this issue, or have a solution?
Try booting into Recovery Mode and wipe the cache partition. If that doesn't work. Then I would manually reinstall the stock OS back onto your device as there is a chance something went wrong during the OTA installation process.
n960f exynos, im also experiencing random freezes after android 10 update. Once-twice a week. First screen doesn't show any updates, but i can feel haptic feedback, so i presume everything works underneath freezed screen, and shortly after that phone freezes completly( with screen still on) , only holding down power for 30sec seems to helps.
Unfortunately clearing cache nor fresh odin flashing of full firmware helped. I noticed it is happening while phone is warm from charging or just plain using.

N960u, not a single issue with 10. Been using it since beta. So maybe the exynos version has bugs
Nope, Op has a Verizon phone...
That's US only isn't it?
Maybe Canada...
My Exynos Note 9 hasn't had any problems since I updated to 10 either but then again, different set-ups may cause different issues...

I'm in the US (Michigan), and have a snapdragon version.
So the question is, anyone with an Exynos Chipset experiencing the same problem as this may indeed be a Snapdragon related problem( with this, admittedly limited, sample it seems so)...

Maybe. All I know now is I'm beginning to regret updating. At first my phone was fine. But after a few days, it's sluggish. And to let me know it's not just an isolated problem, my wife's S-9 (on a different carrier) has begun to experience the same issues as my Note 9.
I swear, if it wasn't for the S-pen, I'd have gone over to Apple by now. Android is just one headache after another.
