[Q] Sprint: Having major issues with connecting to LTE and 3G - Sprint HTC One (M8)

Well, at first I thought my phone was just getting terrible service when I went to Ohio for work, but then I got random texts from 2 people wondering who I was, because I'm assuming they got a text somehow from my number.
It's constantly Searching for Service, getting no data, or if I'm lucky it will be on 3G for a little bit, but I have yet to see LTE even when 5 days prior I was getting great signal.
I already restored to a backup on the same ROM, but the problem still persists.
Whats the best plan of action? I'm stumped. Should I just reset it to stock? If so, what would be the best way to do so considering my firmware is updated? SPCS_004

First, try ##72786# from the dialer an choose the option to reset once the menu pops up. If this fails you can try ##3282#. You will need your MSL code for this last option to work.

I got it working now. I flashed the stock rom 5.0.1, and I've got service now. I was tired of the GPE Rom anyways, it ran pretty slow after a while.

Well, it said it could not contact the network after resetting.

FYI old app called msl reader from playstore still works

No Data? Anyone else?

Today my data connection went away (no G/E/3G). Rebooted and nothing. Phone service was ok. I called T-Mobile and they did something and told me to reboot and everything was ok. What did they do to fix it? I asked the CSR and he said my connection was stuck (what ever that means). This is on a CyanogenMod 4.1.6.

Heeeeyy!!!! I've been having the exact same problem since cm 4.1.6, except I only lose 3g. It works fine for a bit after reboot, but after a few minutes I lose the 3g downlink (it seems I'm still uploading just fine). I feared it was my phone's radio dying, but I guess I'll call T-mo too
OK.. happened again
I just lost all networking. What could be going on here? Have I reached some sort of data plan limit and they are shutting me down? Guess I'll call T-Mobile again.
Same thing here.
I oh so dread calling T-Mo's customer service.
URGH.
A few things to note.
1. It follows the SIM. Put the SIM in another phone and no networking.
2. TMobile said they refresehd the network in my area and now it works.
3. Co-worker had Data on his G1 while I didn't so it's not an area outage.
4. This has not happened before I installed cyan 4.1.6, could this be related?
5. They told me I need to replace my SIM. Should I roll back to 1.5 for that How can I hid the tricked out recovery mode
My phone ain't got no data so far this morning either.
could it be?
An issue with the last few Cyanogen ROMs that is causing T-Mobile to drop out data access? I can't think of what that would be. I put my SIM into my other G1 that has SoulLife's Rogers ROM on it. I will see how long that last.
Well I'm still running an old version of Cyanogen rom
Just restarted the phone and my data is back now.
This is why I use att.

I tried the latest and greatest (4.1.10.1) last night after T-Mobile reset things and this morning I had the same issue. Does the connection come back after a certain time the phone is powered down?

I was down on data all morning myself. Just re-flashed the radio. Everythings back. I was in a panic.
By the way, I'm on Cyan's 4.1.10.1...
Look at all the complaints about tmoBLOW. I am happy with my att, and my $15 unlimited data. Alot better then having NO service at work or my house with tmobile, and only gprs when I had service. Att has ****ty service in tons of major areas cuz of all the iphone users, its a well known problem. If tmobile had 3g or hell even edge in my area I would of stayed with them.

Hey at least my carrier doesn't have Oprah endorsing it. Oh that's right I forgot you cry your heart out everyday to her you mushy bastard.
It's not the ROM as it happened again, this time on Soulife's Rogers Remix. I powered down the phone for about 5 minutes and then when I powered it back up I had data. So maybe calling T-Mobile is not required but something is killing my data and it takes down time to come back. The T-Mobile CSR said something about a stuck connection last night. I wonder what he meant?

Hardware or software?

My one rebooted and lost all data and cell service about 3 weeks ago. Theres no MIN# or phone number shown and I have tried multiple backups, ROMs, and data settings. I brought it to sprint and they were useless. I have WiFi and I got 4g for a brief second in Idaho Springs, CO. Is this a hardware issue or software issue? I tried an RUU once, but messed up and deleted everything but the bootloader from my phone. I am cautious to try it again as I am on 1.31.651.2. Is there any way to tell if this is a software issue or if the antenna itself is broken?
Thanks

If you are on a ROM that will support it try to dial ##72786# and then tap menu in the top right corner, then reset. This should force your phone to reactivate. Hope this helps!
I'm having the exact same problem with the exact same Sprint experience. As far as I can tell, the radio is borked somehow and it will not allow the MSID to commit. I believe it has something to do with the NV setting, but I am not sure where to access subscription settings in a CM based ROM following this thread.

Dangers Of Messing With Your Phone

Hello, everyone, I'd like to share my experience, get any help if someone can, and warn some future people.
So a few months ago i rooted and ROM swapped my HTC one. It was great, I loved it, it was fast and simple.
I tried to change the ROM on it the other day and everything went down hill form there. Basically I ended up having no service and everything else seeming to work fine. So after spending an entire day trying to fix it with BD619, i had to call my carrier today. Now i have the sprint phones, and the sprint service, but i have Credo as a carrier. God knows why. They essentially gave me nothing saying my phone must be bricked and they can't help me.
One thing they did try however was to have me put in a ##xxxxx# number, and there i saw and could edit my MDN and MSID, instead of showing my my phone number and the MSID number they both had "No" written. So he had me edit it and put it in, but when i click "commit changes" it said "commit failed" so if anyone knows anything about that or could help me there, it'd greatly appreciated.
Lesson is, even if you think you know what you are doing, and are careful, weird stuff can happen, and if you have an Odd carrier version of an already less support model of phone (the sprint version), then be EXTRA careful.

Yes, twice
This is not an uncommon problem but it happens with certain HTC ones and not others. I have helped a few other people with this issue. Most likely, your current ROM is set to RUIN/SIM in Settings-> More-> Mobile Network -> Subscription settings. It needs to be set to NV. If you can't get to this setting, you need to flash a ROM that has the setting available. CM 10 based ROMs all seem to have it. If your phone does not automatically reactivate, you can flash to a stock ROM and use the handsfree activation function and that should get you back up.

Okay so i just flashed a CM 11 build. and Holy S*** I have ******* service! I cant make calls, it says it's not authorized. And i don't see the option you were talking about, in mobile network, i see , Data Enables, Data Roaming, Preferred Network type, System select, (then grayed out) Access Point Names and Network operators, (then not grayed out) carrier settings. When i click carrier settings it says "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped. and it takes me back a screen.
where do i go from here?

Try flashing a CM10 ROM. I've always seen the option there. The kitkat ROMs I have used do not have the option except for the Nocs GE.

The only way something like this happens is one of two things.....
1. Ur a noob
2. Your a dev and your testing ril on your rom
The only way to fix this which is a cleared meid of some sort......flashing cm10.1 is the only way and aquiring service by switching to nv....once there everything is fixed just flash/restore back to your rom.

i'd kinda like to argue a point here as this just happened to me. i am certainly not new to flashing, starting back with the mogul and having almost every sprint smart phone since then unlocked (windows) or rooted (webos and android).
Using TWRP and previously running ecliptic 4.3 i wiped caches, system and data then installed the 4.4.2 from team d3rp and voila... no service no meid no nothing.... yes i have the latest radio on my phone.
i guess my point in this is that there's a number 3 that you didn't mention.
3. sh!t happens and it's not n00b related.
for anyone else that has this issue... flashing CM 10.1 worked for me. i didn't even have to set up anything, it just picked up signal. so i rebooted, wiped and nandroided back to 4.3 and all is well.
Did you flash a rom that was meant for another carrier?

I didn't... it was SuperOneK. i'm certainly not blaming the rom though. especially not when others are flashing it fine. the ONLY thing i can think of possibly happening is a bad download. I was in a rush and didn't check the md5.
I had a similar problem when flashing miui. Nothing worked. Even went back to a sense backup and nothing worked.
Commit failed as well.
Here's what I did to make it work again.
Flashed cm10. Change the network settings for CDMA. (Boom it SAID I had service..but didn't).
Rebooted a few times (probably not necessary).
Flashed a sense 4.3 ROM that was close to stock.
Update msl and all that. Commit.
For me..changed LTE/CDMA to just CDMA (no 4g in wv).
Boom it worked again. Hope this helps!

Just Lost All Cellular Data On Verizon

Strange thing has happened to my beloved N6. This was a Tmob purchased device. Activated on via an existing VZ sim & been working since day 1 no prob. However, about 3 hours ago or so, its lost all its cellular data. Tried reboot, take sim in/out, etc. No luck.
Also, under Network Operators, choosing VZ and trying to register fails - Selected network (Verizon) unavailable
Anyone seeing similar behavior?
By ANY chance, did you put the TMobile SIM back in? For whatever reason, when I did that, I had to factory reset my device to get it to recognize the VZW SIM.

I dont think so, but there are an awful lot of sims floating around my house. Strange as it happened mid morning after I had been using data for quite some time. Then poof. No signal.
What state you live in? Indiana has had a blackout for all cell carriers since yesterday/today around knox, greene, and other counties. Bloomington, columbus.
That really, really sucks. Is it possible that Mobile Data is out in your area?

VZ data was ok for co-workers, so data was def good.
Ended up doing a factory reset, and all is good again. I can see a difference in my Cellular Network Screen though...
When I first got it, it was using 'Global' as the 'Preferred Network Type'. When it was busted early today, that was set to LTE with no option for Global. Also, earlier, it would let me scan for available carriers...now after the factory reset...its locked into VZ once again.
I didnt do anything, to my knowledge, to cause it to do any of this...And thats the scary part.

Happened to me as well. I'm unlocked and rooted on a custom ROM. It just happened to me 2 hours ago. I had to reflash the ROM to gain service again. Bought from Motorola and used on Verizon with an activated sim.
Here too. Motorola bought using an activated verizon sim. Happened a few times. Once in a well covered 4g area. That time recovered on it's own.
Last night happened again. Reboot didn't fix, but airplane mode toggled on and then off did the trick.
I had to flash my ROM again and go through activation before I was able to regain service again. Not sure what happened.
This has been happening to me since last night. The signal icon shows I have half signal, but no LTE and it has an exclamation point on the bars.

Are you running a cm based ROM? Some cm Roms have different RIL's and can cause this. Mine is clean stock ROM so I'm not sure why it happened.

It was actually my T-Mo account. It was suspended for having an overdue bill. It was our first bill with T-Mo and they never informed me that we were not signed up for paper bills, only paperless. I just made the online payment 20 mins ago and everything is working fine for everyone on our account. I also changed our paying options to paper billing. Thanks though!

Well with my issue I have no idea why I lost service. I notice that with any ROM you flash the cell network on version stays on global. Even stock, I had mine set to LTE which said recommend but that may have been why I lost all service and had to reflash to get it back.

Lose all service after making or receiving a call

So pretty simple I have a nexus 6 and it was originally from t mobile. It worked fine then it started saying emergency calls only it seems occur immediately after trying to make a call. Texts don't affect it but as soon as I receive a call or make one all service is lost. I'm using straight talk tmo sim and it has happened on pure nexus, 6 ROM and cr droid also du.. Straight talk shows I'm connected and only thing that fixes it is luck and wipes with reflashing a ROM. I assume its something on my device that doesn't get wiped but I'm not sure. Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

I've had it two years. It was from T-Mobile site and yes and I believe its 44r I updated it back when I jumped to nougat. It does it on stock as well. I reflashed stock and it fixed it and then flashed a new ROM and it worked until I received a call. I played around a bit got it back and as soon as I called my voicemail and hung up I lost all service. I can't get it back again so I'm not sure what fixes it but I can say 100% a phone call in or out is what kills it.

In the development section there is a thread about radios...
Grab the baseband cache eraser... Or reflash your radio... I bet you have junk causing your issue in there...
And format your cache partition for poop and giggles when you do the radio thing

Just tried to no avail. If you have another theory maybe how straight talk switches from 4g to 2g or 3g for voice differently maybe its a build prop or some conflict. Otherwise I will just request a new sim maybe its an issue on there end.
Just wanted to update in case others struggle, I had a pack of 3 straight talk sims so I went online and transfered the number and service to my att sim and it fixed the problem either it was a sim issue or straight talk tmo problem or flashing a ROM or weekly jacks up something but either way I'd like to know because the Verizon sim never worked right it was the first one I tried hoping for more coverage in dead tmo spots. I will keep a look out in case someone has experienced this or has another idea. For now its working well with att sim
I didn't realize you had made a separate thread about this, as you mentioned your issues in the Pure Nexus thread. But now that I saw this thread I can utter those four immortal words no one likes to hear.
"I told you so."
In all seriousness, it's good to know that you got the issue resolved.
