[Q] Is advanced calling working? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there some way to tell if advanced calling is working. I have the setting turned on on the phone and on my vzw account. I have called iPhone that have the feature and don't see any real difference.

[Q] Wi-Fi Calling

Hi, I know most of you guys are aware that the Moto X doesn't support T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling natively. What are some workarounds you may have to use Wi-Fi calling? I need this feature since my service is abysmal at home. Are there any suggestions? My theory is using Hangouts Dialer, but there's not much of a hand off like native Wi-Fi calling for me.
Someone on Google+ asked this same question on the T-Mobile page and the answer was no, that there are no plans to get the moto X on Wi-Fi calling at this time, but to keep checking or some BS like that.
T-Mobile does offer a signal booster, not the Wi-Fi router for Wi-Fi calling, but a cellular booster. You might want to call and look into that.
For the mean time, there is free "wifi calling" service like Google voice now know as hangouts. There are others but that is the best one i can recommend to use for the mean time.
There's word that T-Mobile is working with Google to get wifi-calling on the nexus phone(s), but I wouldn't hold my breathe. You're best alternative is like the above poster suggested and use google voice for calling.

[Q] Should one want to turn on VoLTE on VZ?

Ok,
We all know that turning on Advanced Calling 1.0 on your account is free, includes HD voice to other callers that are similarly enabled, and most of all - it gives us back voice and data at the same time.
But are there negatives to go with the positives?
I've scanned the threads and wanted to consolidate this here.
I've heard if you are on adv calling and move out / drop off 4G your call may get lost. I haven't heard how one makes a call, or if it will make a call if out of a 4G area or on wifi out of a 4G area and you try to place a call.
So, that said, what are the experiences from our vast userbase here?
Has turning it on caused any issue for you? either with making/receiving calls, data use, or even other issues with the N6 once you enabled it? (I'm stock right now, what about ROM's? )
(for purposes of streamlining this thread, the conditions are that you got the phone from Verizon, or have it established on Verizon and have been able to enable the option)
I turn on day 1 but I don't have anyone to call that has that option so nothing really changed for me I don't find my coverage any better or worse. I do notice I have voice and data now (at the same time I mean)
Sent from my Google N6 on VZ
VZW Volte
When I go to Verizon website to select volte in my plan a pop up says 1 or more of my other selections i already have is not compatible with volte and must be unselected to get volte. It is saying Ringback Tones needs to be unselected.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Phone calls kill my tethering. Any solutions?

So I'm rooted. I'm using 1.4b from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/dro...xt1254-21-44-12-quarkrootwifihotspot-t3064908
I'm noticing that whenever I make a voice call while tethering, it kills my tethering. I've also noticed that when I'm not tethering and I make a phone call, my signal goes from 4G LTE to 1X. I assume these issues are related.
Anyone have a solution?
I could be wrong. But wouldn't this be due to VoLTE?

Maybe? The thought crossed my mind.
However, I never activated "advanced calling" either through vzw.com or on my phone. In fact, looking at the option on my phone, it's just completely greyed out. Can't select or unselect it.
To simultaneously be on a call and use data you must activate advanced calling. This phone cannot activate more than one antenna at once, so when you call it calls over the 1X signal and has to disconnect from the 4G you're using to tether. If you activate advanced calling it will call over 4G, and therefore allow you to use data as well. It's kind of stupid, but since they got advanced calling fixed it's not so bad.

Texting over WiFi?

I have the verizon variant of the Note 9 and I can't seem to figure out how to enable texting over WiFi. Is it possible and if so how do I get it working? The only setting I've really found was WiFi calling and I've enabled that to no avail.
Edit: I discovered that it works with verizon's Message+ it works just fine, and while I don't prefer it to samsung's message app it'll do for now.

Enable Wi-Fi Calling via Verizon on Unlocked Device?

Hello all,
I have an unlocked Moto G6 on Verizon on which I'd like to enable wi-fi calling. I called Verizon and they supposedly provisioned wifi calling to our account, but when I try to activate it via:
Phone App
Click the three dots on the upper right hand corner
Click Settings
Click Calls
Enable the Wifi Calling toggle
Wifi calling is not there. Also, when going to *#*#4636#*#*, wifi calling is greyed out and I can't toggle it on.
A preliminary Googling suggests that the unlocked Moto G6 is incapable of wifi calling because it does not have the necessary HD Voice and Wifi Calling software from Verizon. Supposedly the Verizon Moto G6 also has a different IMEI. However, it seems to me that if both versions of the phone have identical hardware, they should both be capable of wifi calling.
Has anyone run into this issue? Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can enable wifi calling on my Moto G6?
at present verizon does not let any non vzw branded device use wifi calling.
which seriously sucks, but then again, we are talking about verizon, so...
