So the problem is pretty much described in the title. If I use gprs after restart it works, but after a while if I try it again it just doesnt connect anymore. I use apndroid. Doesnt it connect without this app either? Just wonderin.
So any ideas why after a time of use gprs just doesnt work anymore? Maybe a setting I missed? Maybe a program i use?
Thanks a lot.

uninstall apndroid
reboot
try again
that might be causing it
I will. But now how can I turn connection on and off? Where do I start it from? Sorry for the childish questions, but I am a symbian freak not an android one.
as long as it has the APN settings configured, it will go on
you can't really turn it off easily, unless you set the phone into Air Plane Mode from settings menu
So you mean that if wifi is off, the gprs will just start when I need a data connection? No need to activate it manually?
Just uninstalled that app. Worked after restart. Then I use wifi to answer you, and now tried gprs. It just doesnt transfer anything anymore. Extremely annoying.

if you turn off WiFi it will automatically switch back to GPRS/EDGE/3G/H
as soon as you turn on WiFi, it will switch from 3G/2G/G back to WiFi

that's an interesting bug.
have you tried doing the factory reset?
or reloading a new ROM ?

Is there a way that after a factory reset (or a firmware upgrade) to restore everything like it was before? ay really good backup application?

Somebody knows which file to delete, to stop the automatic sprint activation
It's simple guys.
1. Root using 'Once click-Installer'
2. Install Titanium backup
3. Delete 'SprintAndroidExtension.apk' a.k.a com.sprint.internal
4. Restart!
That's it

SPH-M840 Freedom
Yeah, my reply might not have anything to do with your problem, but my problem led me here and it gave me the idea to check for something called "SPRINT".
I have an SPH-M840 and I kept getting that ANNOYING hands-free activation prompt after every BOOT, so I was looking for some way to turn it off. I figured it was a SPRINT issue, but then noticed others talking about a QUALCOMM app although I did not see any of these. Then I realized that the Hands-Free Activation kept popping up after I would hit the System Update button in the OPTIONS.
Turns out the SPH-M840 has the System Update tied to this, so I would recommend everyone update to the latest ROM, ROOT, CUSTOM RECOVERY and then install ROM TOOLBOX LITE -> APP MANAGER and then FREEZE the app called - SYSTEM UPDATE. VIOLA!!!
NO MORE PROMPTS and now you have a mini WiFi Router or Home Phone or TV\Android Remote - let your mind go crazy; but that prompt was really annoying me., but now I am FREE and just waiting for a MARSHMALLOW port for this little beauty!!!
Now let the search bots bring others here...
:good:

NO ROOT REQUIRED
1. Put your phone on ULTRA POWER SAVING mode
2. Turn off ULTRA POWER SAVING mode
3. Activation will not appear again till phone restarts
Will it prevent you from updating your phone if you remove it?
Hi everyone @XDA,
I'm wondering if there's any application or workaround that will let my phone auto switch between network and wi-fi.
At the moment, I have to do these 7 steps before I leave home/office:
Step 1: Pick up phone
Step 2: Click trackbutton or power to turn it on
Step 3: Drag down screen lock
Step 4: Enter pattern lock key
Step 5: Tap 'Wi-fi' icon to switch off wifi
Step 6: Tap 'Network' icon to switch on network
Step 7: Open door and leave
I want to do it all in 1 step:
Step 1: Pick up phone, coffee and leave (with all the other stuffs running in the background)
Perhaps a workaround that can remember a particular wi-fi profile (ie. Home, etc) to connect, and if I lose that range, then it will automatically switch on the network data plan I have.
I'm guessing that this kind of app/workaround will be running in the background and it'll be great if it isn't too battery consuming.
Thank you everyone, I hope this thread may be useful to some of you too.

You need tasker you can set it up to turn WiFi and or mobile network on or off by gps location

Thanks for the response eljefe27.
The solution you provided would require GPS to be on at all times, am I right? I think that would be battery consuming right? Perhaps something more like, the phone would recognize saved wi-fi settings/locations/name — then switches to mobile network once it is out of range.
By the way I'm quite interested to get to know tasker, would you please provide a link or thread that discusses tasker? I tried searching but couldn't find any.
Thanks again!

You want this: auto wifi toggle
You can also use the long-press wifi toggle, if you want a one press manual method.

yeah gps has to be on but you can also also set up profiles to do what you need depending on what time it is
I prefer droid wall. Not only does it help pass off from wifi to network data seamlessly, but you can also select which apps you want to access the network and which ones you done. Thus you can allow apps like xda, opera mini, browser, and google voice search to run over 3g when you aren't in wifi range but prevent data heavy apps like pandora from screwing you if you accidentally leave it open or something. Then you can set droid wall to automatically allow all apps to access the net when connected over wifi. Not sure if this is quite what you're looking for, but it suites my needs very well.
Hey, is there any way to get the galaxy gear to connect to my WLAN at home?
I am using null rom and tethering to get internet to work on my gear now, but i got this tv controller app that needs to connect to my wlan in order to work. Soooo, is it even possible in any way to get my gear to recognize a wifi other than the one my SGS3 creates? I see so many benefits to this because I want to control everything that's electric at home from my gear.
I have read everywhere and i can't find any solution for this.. The only thing i found was someone with about the same connection problem i think, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537003 . Where fOmey says something about using tasker & autoremote in order to get it to work, can any kind soul help me decipher these hieroglyphics so that I may get an answer?
I'm a noob at this as i got null yesterday.. Really good stuff though!! :good:
Thanks in advance

well the answer in simple terms is to install Tasker on your phone and AutoRemote on your Gear.
so after you read from Tasker dev site on using it properly the long and short is that autoremote can send commands to your phone and then Tasker on phone will execute said command. your Gear has no wifi so this setup pushes command to phone that has wifi and phone sends command via network.
not a complete answer with instructions but with research now you should be able to get it working.
good luck because Tasker can be challenging but also once you understand it also very rewarding
Thank you very much for the answer and for opening my eyes to Tasker! But i'm sorry to say that i'm not really sure how to take it from here.
I have now installed Tasker on the phone and Autoremote on both the phone and the gear and I found that the tasker truly can be rewarding as you say, I have read alot about it and found several things that I can have use of.
But the thing is, will I be able to trick my gear through the phone into thinking it has access to my home network and use the app that way (I can and have installed the app on the gear but it can't find the tv-box as i don't have access to my home network). Or will the gear only be able to command the phones app 'Telia Zappa' to change channel on the tv-box? I don't get where to begin in either way and for me I would love to get access to the network right away instead of making scripts or what to call it for every app that must have access to my home network.
If someone have this figured out or have any ideas especially on how to trick watch to get access to my home network through my phone and bluetooth tethering of course, please help me out. I have so many fun and useful ideas for the watch wich I gladly share with you if I only could get this to work.
Thanks,

I've got some apps on my Gear to connect to my computer, as Spotimote and Unified Remote. But I dont really get how the Gear can connect to my computer when it can't find my tv-box on the local wlan because it says it's connected to 'unkown ssid' in the tv-box's app. When I got the other apps to work I had the ability to manually set the ip adress to connect to, so I did just that and it worked! But I don't have that ability in the app for the tv-box. So how can my gear connect to my computer on the local wlan, but it cant find my tv-box or even the local wlan when I use the other app and both my computer and tv-box is of course on the same network. The app for my tv-box works just fine on the mobile device.
Nothing of above has been done with Tasker, or has it? Can it be that the connection between my phone and Gear through Autoremote provides the gear with the ability to communicate with my computer via phones wifi?
Anyone? It must be any way to trick the Gear into thinking that it have Local network access through phones wifi connection and bluetooth tethering.. If someone knows the answer or got any ideas plase tell me, and if it really is through Tasker and Autoremote please tell me where to begin!
My question remains unanswered, but only for now i hope!

Since I don't have Bluetooth on my computer I assumed that it was wifi/local Wlan, through the phones tethering to Gear. Maybe I'm wrong, but the only other explanation I have would be that the Gear connected through an internet connection to my computer wich i dont see how it would be possible when i only entered an local ip adress.

I know I cannot be the first to ask this but I cannot find a good answer. I have a verizon phone and I tried to create a tasker action to turn on the mobile hotspot and it fails. I used the wifi tether option. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this to work?
I'm pretty sure toggling radios needs root? I can't seem to find it right now, but there should be a "use root" checkbox somewhere in the action edit.
Can anyone confirm this? My Motorola Turbo 2 never had a root solution. Believe me I've been waiting 2 years for one.

I just setup a simple profile to test this. I had tasker turn the hotspot at a certain time. No issues, root wasn't needed(doesn't even give option to use it). What conditions are you using to turn it on?

I can't find the "use root" setting in mine...actually I can't find it in any of my profiles/actions, which is weird because I know I used it for something .
I've been using this for awhile to connect to my car head unit (Honor 6X/Cricket Wireless):
Profile State BT Connected CAR KIT ==> Action WiFi Tether Set On
with an exit task to turn WiFi back on/hotspot off when the BT connection drops.
Well, I am using Verizon Jetpack mobile WiFi Hotspot device and it's working pretty fine. I have it for 6 months now.

All u have to do is make the profile task and tap play button. That way it will tell you if Tasker is denied/granted SuperSU rights. No need to install secure settings anymore. Just tap Grant to SuperSU. Also, check your SuperSU app as sometimes it denies Tasker automatically
