Switched to ATT from Verizon - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I made the switch last night from Verizon to ATT, and need some help.
I am currently on the 89r radio because that was the radio that came preinstalled for the verizon varients, but I want to make sure I get the best possible working radio for my motorola bought nexus 6 for ATT. Anyone on ATT please can you recommend a radio that would work best?

@the_rooter
If you update to 5.1 the 95R radio works very well.
It is included in LMY47D and LMY47I.

Not exactly. I said 95r works well for me. Different locations and different people get different results. You need to try it and decide for yourself.

Root Canadian 3G Nexus One

I am curious I have the Rogers Wireless version of the Nexus One in the mail.
I can't get a definitive answer on if cyanogenmod will work on it without a problem?
I sure hope this isn't like the Rogers version of the G1.
Thanks,
Not at all like the Rogers Dream. The AT&T/Rogers version (I have read), is identical to the Tmo, except offers Rogers/AT&T 3G Band, 850mhz.
Procedure is the same as written elsewhere. You can skip the step for upgrading radio, I believe the newer N1's shipped with the newest radio. I don't have the instructions, followed the CM wiki. Just remember to skip the radio update part of the instructions. I believe the radio update allows root on stock ROM. When you upgrade to CM ROM for example, it is already rooted, which is why you can bypass this step.

Yes, you can install CM and it will work without any problems... essentially, the devices are the same, except for the radio... which is why there is a new RIL library and firmware module...
CM 5.0.5+, Enom 1.7.1, MCR 1.9+, ModacoDesire A16+ are all compatible with the new N1 and have the latest RIL & Firmware module...
And yeah, the new N1 has the latest radio image, so you don't have to update/faslh the radio...

No!!! DON'T DO IT!!! You're phone will be bricked!
J/K... this question has been asked a dozen times and a search would have yielded an answer in 10 seconds for you.

I wonder how radically different the Canadian N1 is to the US N1!
The only risk/problem you will expose yourself with tinkering is if you mess up with flashing the radio firmware. I used the latest cyanogen, recovery, and bootloader all while retaining the original radio firmware. (why fix it if it aint broken?)

Why does the ATT 4.4.4 ROM not work on TMobile?

I would assume the the only difference would be the radios.
Has anyone tried this?
APNs?
I am not sure since i am italian and i do not know which kind of radios ATT uses...
But i can say that i have a XT1053 Moto X, with the latest SBF from the EUropean Moto X (sold in italian stores).
It works very well but the radio (NO IMEI, no signal....ok the wifi though)
For this reason i am forced to use an american radio (now the Verizon one, because the T-Mobile never released its 4.4.4)
Could be the same for you, if ATT has completely different kind of radio frequencies?

Strings in the build.prop could impact its usability. The modem files support different frequencies (I'm not sure about the radio hardware itself)
But why would you want to flash the ATT ROM on an XT1053? The XT1053 ROM has way less bloat.
Unless you are trying to use an XT1053 on ATT and you WANT or Need that bloat??

radio flashing question..

i know all nexuses are pretty much the same and we can run the tmobile and sprint and international roms etc on my vzw nexus. however what about radios? I just updated my vzw nexus 6 to full 5.1.1 Z including bootloader, but I didn't do the matching radio because I'm on 98R and idk how thatll play out. anyone on vzw flash the newest radios? can we do such things? I know android M, were all flashing that radio and were all on diff carriers.

Yes, you can flash away.
if I can flash the international Z 5.1.1 bootloader, radio and rom on my Verizon phone why does google go out of the way making different packages for different carriers?

to add things that they can use on their network. like tmobile and WiFi calling. sure, google can add it into Verizon's as well, but Verizon users can't use it.
well then why the different radios :/. if we could all use international radio.. like international, Verizon and sprint radios.

Radios are tuned sometimes to work better on different networks. You should see how many Samsung have.
More radios, more choice.

[Q] T-Mobile to AT&T

I was using T-Mobile and I'm now on AT&T do I need to use an AT&T Rom? The custom Rom I'm using for T-Mobile does work but wondering if using an AT&T Rom would be best regarding the radios, etc.

there's no such thing on a nexus device as custom roms for different carriers. they are all exactly the same, and will work on any carrier.
So you're saying I can use any Rom on this phone? Since there are custom Nexus 6 roms for T-Mobile and AT&T here so that's my question?

Doesn't matter. I've run the T-Mobile on Sprint. Only radios will have a role in your reception.
Thank you! Do I need to flash the AT&T radio along with any version ROM I choose? I really appreciate the help I just don't want to mess anything up.

No, you only flash a radio once. Unless you want to use a different one. Find the one that works best for you and keep it.

Radio question.

Can you flash a radio file from a stock image that isn't for your firmware? In my case, is it okay to flash the radio from a lollipop build on marshmallow without any issues? Thanks! It would have to be a T-Mobile lollipop build if I wanted WiFi calling right?

I don't think you should have any issues. Before I was really lazy and never updated my baseband despite changing firmware and never had any issues. You may run into problems with mixing the bootloaders though.

you can use any n6 radio on any n6 android version, and you should. use the one that best suits your needs I mean
and all the builds are the same now. they all are tmobile builds.

Yea they added wifi calling in marshmallow, to have it if I use a lollipop radio, I would need the T-Mobile version of the radio since those were carrier specific right? I rely on wifi calling where I live, service isn't great at my house, everywhere else in town, just not my house haha
