Does any body know if there is a way or an app that will allow me to play music via Bluetooth but still have the alarm come through the phone speaker? Here's the situation. I like to listen to music while I sleep but my phone is also my alarm clock. so if my ear-buds come out during sleep "and they usually do" the alarm is coming through the Bluetooth ear-buds and not the phone. I'm a pretty light sleeper so the vibrations have been waking me up so far. But id really like to find a solution to this. Seems like there should be a way especially if your rooted.

It's a long shot, but have you tried Alarm Clock Xtreme? It has the option to force sound to speakers when headphones are plugged in. Not sure if this works with bluetooth but you can give it a shot. Best of luck.

While not an ideal solution for everyone I have two ideas:
I switched a while back to using Timley In doing so I tried to recreate your scenario: bluetooth headphones listening to music and the alarm goes off. It rang in the earphones AND on the phone at normal phone alarm volume.
However I know switching apps can be a lot to ask of someone so my next idea is to use either Tasker or Automagic to have bluetooth turn off at a certain time which would force your phone to play the alarm. However if your bluetooth headphones are good at blocking sound, may be a no go...
Good question. I'll keep thinking.
Thanks. I'm gonna check into all those apps tomorrow.

Ok I decided to try out Timley first and I love the way the app is set up. But the alarm only came through the headphones. Is there a setting for that? I didn't see one.

Well that is strange. The only modifications I made to my system image are ad-blocking and xposed. I havent tweaked any audio anything so I should have a stock experience and had the alarm play on both headset and phone speaker.
It is bluetooth right? Not hardwired?

Yes it is Bluetooth. And that's the same mods I've done to mine. Weird.

I use my phone as a wake up reminder, but since I flashed my rom to a newer version, the alarm always gets played over my stereo bluetooth headset instead of over the phone speaker. This is the first time I've had this happen to me when flashing a rom, so I was curious if there was some registry entry or tweak that will make it be exempt from having its audio sent to my headset.

How about just turning off Bluetooth when you are not using it like when you are sleeping? It isn't doing anything but eating up the battery any way.
Hope that helps.

This would not work as I have alarms in the day too. It also plays my ring tones over the bluetooth.
Hi, just upgraded from my Galaxy Note to the z1 yesterday.
Very impressed with the phone so far, but I have encountered one strange problem that I can seem to find no other comments about.
When I connect a headset (the bundled one, specifically) and turn my phone to silent mode so I can enjoy my audiobook in peace without being bothered every time I get a new promotional email, the notification sound plays over and pauses my audio book.
It does this no matter whether I turn the phone to silent, vibrate, turn the ringtone and notification volume to 0, and whether or not I make these changes manually or allow the smart connect app to make them for me.
The strange thing is, it only plays the notification sounds when something is playing through the headset. When I'm sitting just using the headset as a handsfree then everything behaves as expected - if a notification comes in, the phone will vibrate, flash the notification led, but won't make a peep otherwise. But as soon as media is playing, the phone seems to make up its own mind to vibrate and play the notification sound even though I've put it on silent.
Am I the only one experiencing this bug, or, more surprisingly, am I the only one who finds it hugely irritating?
Can anyone else even confirm if this behaviour is normal or is there something bugged out?
Over 60 views and no one can even confirm if this is actually how the phone is meant to deal with notifications?
Yes, I think is just You. Anyway, you have to play with settings because there have to be the solution, if you do not that mean is how supposed to be. If you are Rooted maybe you can edit some notification so if they will not show up you will not listen the sound in the handset.
I've tried everything! On my other phones (used an htc desire hd and a galaxy note) once I had my phone on silent then I didn't get audible notifications whether I had a headset plugged in or not. On the Z1 though I can't seem to get rid of them. I only hear them when I'm playing music, I wouldn't mind if it gave me an audible notification if I just had my headset plugged in as a handsfree and wasn't listening to anything, but having my music interrupted is pretty annoying, and I still don't even know if it's just something stupid I'm doing or if that's just the way it is.
I'm not rooted, I don't really want to since it stops sky go from working, but if it can stop the notification headache I might be willing. Don't really want to install a custom ROM unless the camera performance is as good as stock either
Yeah, I get it too. Too lazy to check the player settings though so not sure if it is something in the player settings that is doing this

Good point, can be the player too.
haven't seen anything in the walkman or audible apps to turn this off and never had to do it on my previous phones. oh well, at least i know it's normal now, hopefully they fix it in an update. thanks.
Hi I was wondering if there is a setting to prevent notification sounds from going through the speakers while earphones are plugged in.
Notifications sounds are only played through earphones if music is playing but through the speaker when no music is playing.
Thanks!

Oh yeah that is a nice feature but what is bothering me is that when music is paused or off, I still want to hear the text notification but only through my headphones. Smart Connect only seems to allow to manage connection of device events; I see that it can change sound modes and volume profiles but my minor annoyance is a little more specific. Right now, when music is paused/off I hear the text notification sound through my earphones (good) and also through the phone speaker ().
Weirdly enough, Whatsapp does what I want (headphone sound only). I've tried using the default sms app and Textra SMS and both still use the speakers in addition to headphones.
Hi
Did you find a solution/reason for this?
I have a Sony Xperia Z3 and the same thing happens to me. I have the headphones set as MH750 (which came with the phone) and I can't seem to find any other settings related to headphones and notifications on the phone.
For now setting the phone to vibrate or quiet/silence mode seems to work, or also turning the notification sound to 0. It makes a little sens for example if you are connected to Bluetooth headphones but don't wear them and your alarm clock goes off to wake you. That way you will hear it for sure.
Hi
I use my Nexus 6 to stream my music from my N6 to my car via A2DP , and the the problem is when I listen to some music and I get a SMS , my phone doesn't ring as usual ,it gives a very low notification in my car's speakers instead. If the music goes low I can't hear it actually.
Is there a way to force the phone to ring as usual with its speakers?
Thanks
One way I could think of is with tasker. Playing a sound. Not checked it works but might do.
Actually probably not thinking about it.
I know Poweramp music app has that option.

It is but I really am not sure if it would do what you want. I think I talked too soon.
I used to get notifications sounds play in my bluetooth headphones (Sony WH-1000XM2). Unlike some this is exactly what I want when listening to music and podcasts.
However, all I now get is the vibration of the notification coming in and no sound at all.
I have reset the phone and played with all sorts but to be honest there isn't a lot in Settings that you can do. Yes, all the relevant sounds are set in notifications and Do not Disturb isn't on etc.
I know it's the Media stream that is the problem as I can hear incoming calls and text notifications.
This is so bloody annoying and I can't figure why it should not work now. I feel I've done something stupid but can't see what.
Yeah, I bet that's frustrating. It works fine for me on my Airpods, and I just started using the 4 XL as my primary device yesterday. I didn't fiddle around with any of the settings except for transferring my files over and turning on the blue light filter. Aside from that, I haven't done anything else, so I don't know if the issue you're facing has to do with the settings or not. I hope it gets sorted out for you, though.
Seems my other bluetooth headphones work so looks like it's a Sony thing all of a sudden, maybe new app update.
And not necessarily me doing something stupid!
