How to force notifications to speaker? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I use my Nexus 6 to stream my music from my N6 to my car via A2DP , and the the problem is when I listen to some music and I get a SMS , my phone doesn't ring as usual ,it gives a very low notification in my car's speakers instead. If the music goes low I can't hear it actually.
Is there a way to force the phone to ring as usual with its speakers?
Thanks

One way I could think of is with tasker. Playing a sound. Not checked it works but might do.
Actually probably not thinking about it.

I know Poweramp music app has that option.

In-Call volume very low

Hey everyone,
I have the problem that the call-volume is very low. I've already tried different settings, but there is not really any help.
Does anyone have the same issues? When I'm in a silent ambient, it is okay, but e.g. in the train it is really hard for me to understand the other person.
And no - my ears are not THAT bad
Haven't really noticed an issue with mine, although not usually calling from anywhere that is too noisy.
yes i have that prob.setting the qualiser to bright and disabling speaker voice enhancement improves it a little. but still the call volume is low.
Yes i also feel its bit low... but not very low!
For me it's good enough!
When I have a call in quiet place or a noisy place like in the city or a cafe or something, I understand everything good
i have that problem tooooo.in fact i fight with my gf every time cuz i cant hear what she say ,any advice to fix this problem?can i change some setting and fix this?
It's not that bad! Try using the earphones

:silly: using an earphone is not a solution.. can someone tell if this issue can be resolved using some mod/software?

Did this solution work for anyone? I am not seeing much difference, please help me if there is any third party application which can be used to boost the volume.
I've wanted to find out if there's a way for some time!
I connect to my car via aux cable for hands free.
But when I get a call I have to increase volume 7 or 8 steps for me to hear.
And then when the call finishes, I get deafened from when the radio kicks back in!

[Q] Music Player starts after I hang up

Hi all,
this one is pretty amusing at times, but mostly frustrating. So I have a this HTC One which was shipped with Android 4.1. Everything was great. Then I updated to 4.2 using the normal "check for updates" procedures.
Now, whenever I hang up or ignore a call, my MP3 starts playing. Systematically. Sounds like a bluetooth issue (most of my calls are dealt with through my bluetooth headset). I uninstalled the bluetooth app (Plantronics Voyager Legend UC), reinstalled, deleted and re-paired the device. No luck.
I can;t find anywhere a "playback" setting of any kind. Google-is-my-friend tells me I'm not the only one with that issue but so far, no solution.
If anyone has a clue, aside reverting to 4.1, I'd be grateful as this is quite embarrassing when you're in a meeting and you ignore the call... (good thing I got rid of my heavy metal MP3 files...).
Thanks,

I did get a chuckle on this one. The only suggestion I have would be to download a 3rd party music player, check it as the default player, and see if that helps.
Woops sorry buddy I didn't mean not to reply, just been busy. So yeah this is amusing at best. So I uninstalled all apps related to the headset, rebooted once more, and voila ! No more MP3.
As to why it ever happened in the first place, I'm as puzzled as you on that one.
Cheers though,
Well I spoke too early... randomly, after I hang up, there comes the music...
I considered slapping the phone on the wall but that's not very viable.
I went through all the settings for the phone, the music player, the bluetooth headset, I can't figure this one out.
Any ideas you want to throw at me, please do. Thanks,
I think I've been able to narrow it down. I think it only happens (but I have to confirm this) when the "car" application is on. However in the settings I can't see "resume music after a phone call" or something similar.
I think it's the "Car" application, however it's called, because the way the "play forward stop pause" buttons look similar to what's on the screen when the music starts playing... it's a long shot I know.
Do you allow your headset to be a control for the music player? If so, using the headset to hang up may well start the music playing.

[Q] Does Your Audio Effects Work?

I'm convinced the Audio Effects does nothing. Doesn't matter if it's Speaker or Wired Stereo, I hear no difference in audio settings if I change them or turn them off and on again. I can't remember if they actually worked in 4.2x, but they sure don't seem to do anything in 4.4.
Can someone confirm that, in fact, you hear a difference?

I hear a major difference. Audio quality goes way down if I turn on audio effects while using headphones. It's night and day. I have no idea why Motorola enabled them by default.

it's just an app, right? i can't imagine my phone being defective because there's no difference in audio when switching the settings. i'm completely stock, so i don't know what the issue is.
i'll open an incident with moto if i have to, just wanted to get a consensus.
ok hold the phone... maybe it's just slacker. doing some more testing, but apparently the settings do nothing to slacker audio quality.

It works for me on stock 4.4 with Google Play music. I hear a pretty tangible difference on all settings. Maybe try turning the lower frequencies all the way down/up (on custom settings) then toggle and see if that makes a difference.
Thanks for mentioning this; I've turned it off. Always thought my music sounded a little off on my usual IEMs.

I've actually never gotten it to work with anything on mine. Play Music, Pandora, Podcast Addict, etc. all don't work. I think I've only gotten it to work with poweramp when I was testing it but I use poweramp's own DAC so that's the only app I don't need it for.

Speaker Problems RMA, need people to run a test for me .

Please go into your sound and notification settings and play the Ganymede ringtone in portrait mode on highest volume (does your top speaker sound distorted?), now while it is playing turn the phone into landscape mode (might have to turn both ways to get it to switch) . Does it sound different?
My top speaker sounds like it is blown in the portrait mode and when the phone switches to landscape mode the sound becomes more full and both speakers work like they should. What are you results?
THANKS!
I hear distortion with that ring tone no matter what orientation I have the phone in.
Sound is distorted in both orientations on several of the ringtones, not just Ganymede. My first N6 didn't have this speaker/sound problem, but my second one does. We'll see if the third (should be coming soon) is any improvement.
Sound problems will be fixed in 5.1 update.
Doesn't sound like a software problem if some phones are only having problems ...I think I am going to RMA mine and see what I get.

Could someone test playing song linked in quote above I would be very grateful. Just want to know if it is indeed something wrong with my speakers. The strange scraping sounds can be heard in the beginning of the song when on high volume.

Ok thx. Really hope that this is a software issue. Not because of that one song but because I get distorted sound in ringtones, notifcations and such aswell. Talked directly with Motorola and they offered me a new device but sadly I live in Sweden and therefor I have to send it back to the store I bought it from for repair instead if I want to RMA it.

Just wanted to say I got the new phone and my problem is fixed. Even had my wife listen and she confirmed I am not crazy eheh

Notification sound too low (mono versus stereo)

Just got the Note9 after have the 8. Nasty surprise when I found out it is almost impossible to hear notification sounds on this phone due to streaming through only the bttome speaker while all other audio is through both. Samsung states its a "limitation of the device".... So that.
Anyone know of an app or other method that would allow me to set the notificatio sounds to stream as rigntone or media to get them in stereo? I tried Lightflow and setting the sound through there as a full ring tone, but it still streams the audio as a notification through the bottom speaker only.
Bump
It's lower than the note 8 I think.
Sent from my SM-N960U1 using Tapatalk
It's definitely lower than the Note 8. Not sure why only the notifications play through one speaker and all others are through both. An app or work around would be incredible.
Hey guys, having the same issue here. I am using an app called Volume Booster Goodev. No root needed. Just set the volume to go up by 10% and you should be fine. I know I am, cause I missed my notifs before... Good Luck!

I noticed the low volume when playing podcasts. I downloaded the app you recommended, and now I'm happy! With the 10% increase there is no distortion, only loud clean sound. Thanks

Happy to help! The only thing they recommend is not to go over 40% increase. But 10% is enough anyway

Not as straight forward, but if you have used it, Tasker will play the sound through as stereo once set up. Works really well :good:
You re welcome, glad I could help
Hi. Does it also rise the in call volume?
I don't feel like it helps...my calls sound is low
But still it is not activating the upper speaker.
I see this post is quite old. But, wanted to report Volume Booster GOODEV solved *my* problem as well. Thank you *so much* for posting this solution! btw, had to use a tor browser to post this reply (XDA's server won't allow me to register a user *and* post from the same IP in a short period of time??) lol
