There is no problem with warranty. You unlocked the bootloader? If not, then your keys are intact.

No i did nothing yet about flashing. I want to keep my Z3C "clean" . But i'm still a little bit scared cause some people got bootloops on downgrade :S

No need to do any of that if your boot loader is unlocked. Just flash a custom kernel.

For downgrading firmware version? That's not really a good choice, flashing with a tft file is clearly better, flashing a custom kernel can hard brick your phone, avoid your warranty and can't be restored with SUS and PCC...

No, he asked how to root. If he has already unlocked the bootloader then the simplest way to root is flash a custom kernel. Warranty is already broken and what is the point in unlocking the bootloader unless you are going to flash a custom kernel anyway

Yeah but flashing a custom kernel is not necessary for having root on the latest firmware.

No its not, but its the easiest way to get root if you have already unlocked.
And please tell me the point of unlocking if you are not going to flash a custom kernel.
Its harmless as long as you flash the correct kernel. It carries the same risk as flashing anything.

You have downgraded in order to root then to do an OTA upgrade back to .257 if I am right.
In which case, do not worry that the camera does not work in .534, just root it, and upgrade OTA.
Then try the camera.
EDIT
Also you need to clear the data in all camera related apps

my questions on the z1

Hi guys, I'm getting a z1 tomorrow
Should I get c6902 or c6903 ? I don't need 4g but I want a device that has many mods/ ROMs. That's all I need.. Second, what is lb and UB ROM? Third I want to install ROM on new device, the steps of installing ROM is something I don't understand.. My experience with grouper nexus 7, unlocked it, flashed it.. But z1, how to do that? Can someone explain basics to me?

- depends. Is your device that you've ordered support LTE? If yes, then you'll get C6903
- LB = Locked boot loader. A state where you can't flash custom kernel
- UB = Unlocked boot loader. A state where you've unlock your boot loader, so you can flash custom kernel.
- which steps?
- there's ROM which can be flashed even your bootloader still locked. So, it depends on what ROM you wanna use.

OK thanks for replying , so let's see.. How can I flash monxdified on a completely new device? I think the device is c9602 since I don't see a 4g on the package..
What is the best custom for this device? What's new on Sony kitkat ? Can we have it for Christmas eve?

1. Backup your TA partition (just in case you want to roll back to 4.2.2, and get back your DRM key)
2. Check for updates using OTA or Sony PC Companion
3. If there's update to 4.3, apply the updates
4. Before we step further, I wanna ask you, do you wanna keep your bootloader unlocked?
Well. We don't know when exactly 4.4 update is available. Let's hope we'll get this in December.
Hi
For me it doesn't matter if BL locked or not, I read there is no problem in that in 4.3 regarding camera issues.. But I have zero knowledge on how to deal with rooting and flashing the z1.. Im not going back to 4.2 for me its either aosp 4.4 or Sony ui 4.3. As I said I have zero knowledge so if you can elaborate more about how to do it that would be highly appreciated

There is no better way than follow this steps on Page 2, Post #16 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588331&page=2
No body here was clever at the first time so just read carefully. This is the only way to get the full root on your device.
If this help click on thanks.
Well, I found that out through YouTube.. I downgraded my c6903 to 534 fw and rooted it, installed the recovery dual and flashed ihackers 2.1 , yes I did ta backup but I didn't unlock the bootloader. I dunno what's the benefit of doing so, although I emailed Sony and I got the unlock code on my email as they replied... I'm only missing an app that control the led color of notifications led and Google now since I'm not in the US region.. That used to work fine on 4.2.2 but no worries.. Thanks guys. You really helped me a lot and I think this is a great device, I have been using it since Tuesday. And I rooted and flashed it this morning. One problem is that I dunno how to enter recovery so I flashed the ROM right after I flashed the recovery.. I understand now that there is a flashable zip? Things are much easier with the nexus line

All the FTF have to be flashed on your device via Flashtool v0.9.13 compatible with your device and they are not zip. Recovery is in zip and all what you flash from recovery is in zip file.
Yeah I did that.. It had 257 fw, I flashed 534 with flashtool then I rooted by vroot, then ta backup with some bat file through computer and USB debugging, then installed recovery by bat file as well, which rebooted to recovery, I did factory reset/wipe, and flashed aroma ihackers 2.1 without custom kernel then switched off and flashed baseband and kernel by flashtool and rebooted, done..
Just like that. And you should be the one without knowledge?
Well, I put my mind to it.. And when I do that I usually succeed... But I still have unanswered questions, like what are the benefits of unlocking bootloader? How can I control led light color for different applications notifications.. I tried light flow and illumination bar, both didn't work.. Lastly I haven't got used to the camera ui as I haven't used it much and I already applied xposed 20 mp mod.. Lastly,, I like to thank you for all your attention and care and everything ... I really appreciated it
as i know the unlockbootloader is the only way to flash custom karnels.
i dont know mutch more then that, just switched from ios so i'm new to this.
I forgot to backup my TA does that make an issue and if, what kind?

Yes, it's a problem, without TA you lost your DRM keys permanently which are needed to re-lock your bootlader. You also lost the warranty of you device definitely.

Yes, Bionz, X-Reality and probably Bravia Engine or something like that but your phone still working properly. Some users do not notice the difference with or without this features.

On some firmwares root will stay after OTA update.
You'll have partial root but that's only what's possible to get on locked bootloaders - for now.
We said that many times before and I see many users still likes to answer wrong.
If you, IF YOU!, manage to update via OTA - your root will stay.

You can write to system but only from recovery.
Basically you can't copy manually apk or any files to system folders - you have to do that through recovery.
Problem is when system boot, you have administrative rights only in recovery.

How is it wrong answer?
It's a fact that if you update to 4.3 you WILL lose full root
Unless you CAN unlock your bootloader full root is not available at the moment
That's why I'm back on 4.2 partial root is no good
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk 2
I'm currently on 4.2.2. rooted stock rom, locked bl, dualrecovery, (.257 firmware) and xposed installed with some modules activated.
I have an OTA update for 4.3. available but I'd like to know what happens if the update manages to go through? I've read about partial root but that doesn't tell me much. Is there a way to keep full root with supersu pro or voodoo root keeper?
So, what exactly can I do with it or don't?
Will my dualrecovery remain after the update? Or if it's gone, could I install it again with partial root?
The xposed remains as well since it was already present before the upgrade or not?
Can I still use Titanium Backup to backup, delete, freeze, restore apps and data (system apps and user apps)?
Could I gain root via partial root via a startup script which runs automatically at boot (without bl unlock)?
One last question: I really don't get why Android manufacturers don't even bother to at least offer the option to enable root if the user wants this option.
Like there could be an option to enable root and when you tap on it, the system displays severals warnings to inform you about the downsides and potential dangers and if you accept, the system reboots and you have full read/write access/root.
I know about the downsides (malware, etc.) but to me and I believe to many others as well, the benefits outhweigh them by a lot.
Are they just unwilling or is it not that easy to enable and disable?
To me, an Android phone without root feels as limited as a Windows computer without admin rights. It feels so constraint.

You already lost your warranty by rooting and flashing a dual recovery. Unlocking your BL wouldn't change anything, but backup your TA partition before you do that(search for topics).
I see that your from germany. You should check out the difference between "Garantie und Gewährleistung" (LEO and Google Translate actually say that both mean warranty, but they are NOT the same)
Garantie = warranty for damages "by you" (dropping it for example)
Gewährleistung = warranty for damages which happened because of a sony mistake (
You lose your garantie by rooting/unlocking but the gewährleistung persists because of an european law.
I hope that this information helps you

Flashtool doesn't need root privileges.
With flashtool you flash ftf files.
You need flashtool program to flash ftf.
Your phone has to been in flash mode to flash a ftf file. The phone comes with flash mode, that's nothing special. The phone can handle flash mode from build.

Like what @xasbo said, this has been answered again and again, pls. use the search button.
There are no existing direct rooting method for 5.1.1 at the present time. Use flashtool to flash 4.4.4 or 5.0.2 on you phone then root it then install a custom recovery then flash a pre-rooted 5.1.1 on your phone. That is the only way you have at present if your phone has a locked boot loader.
If your phone has an unlocked bootloader, I believe you fastboot a rooted system.img or something to get root access on your 5.1.1 without the need to downgrade to either 4.4.4 or 5.0.2

Strange, ive been using stock roms since 4.4.2 on my C6903 and never even felt my device being warm, like on samsungs opening chrome alone makes it so hot you cant touch it. but on Z1 noo, there must be something wrong on it.
