Hi,
a student in my class has bricked his LG 4x HD during ROM flash. He had asked around the Czech forum but no one gave a working advice, so I promised to ask here as I speak English better. Apologies if the same problem was handled here before, I'd checked briefly but didn't see it answered around. I'm translating from his Czech thread( http://androidforum.cz/post574659.html )
He tried to install Cyanogen mod 10.1, instaled APK, copied ROM and GAPPs into internal storage, switched off the mobile.... BUT instead of pressing power+volume down he pressed power and then volume down.(?) Now he's stuck on the LG logo. He took the battery out several times to no avail. He'd entered recovery menu, chose full wipe/factory reset with no result either.
Then he tried to follow the tutorial here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35971349 but after the "S/W Upgrade Please wait" screen he's stuck on the LG logo again. He said the logo was animated before but is just static now.
This is all I know, if this resembles something you'd seen before and got through, please share an advice. The boy - Mark - is 12, the mobile was his world, just got into waters too deep. I'm running WP 7.8 and my knowledge of android is limited...
Best regards from Primary School Ponikla, Czech Republic!
Hmm I've never touched any lg but if it is anything like a galaxy s2 then you are going to need an app called odin

Ok, than you can try this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38838927&postcount=7 (LG Flash tool and .dz create tool u can find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1642495&d=1358114024 or use all programs from first link)
Notes for this method:
1. You can make your .dz and .dll file for your region (IMEI) specific .kdz with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2207786 or just use euro open .kdz from first link
2. For this and every flashing method if you have problem you need first check your usb cable, plug it in usb slot in motherboard not in front-pc case hub or similar, you need to provide space on your HDD (when using .kdz if you do not have hdd space kdz can not been unpacked for program that is using it for flashing)- maybe because of this your kdz flashing stop at 4%
3. Just to be sure - Your phone is LG P880 not LG P880G?
No, in cze its p880.

Follow the steps one by one.
Unless your device is connected in a port higher than 16, using the "easy" way (forget about the device manager), you should be able to have comunication with the device.
View attachment 1927169
To be able to see it in the device manager you need to have your phone connected in SW mode to avoid mistakes.
No rush, take your time to read and understand the entire process.

Change USB, run as "administrator".
Some others had that problem, in front of "MODEL" you should see "X3"...
Some fixed it by changing USB. other running as "administrator", others changing cable...
I never had this problem. Might be related with the PC, I don't know.
You install "msxml.exe" right? and you turn ON "windows enabler"...
The Tool works well but, sometimes or, for some users, something wierd happends, and,
from out of the blue, they're able to flash without any problem...

If your on windows 7 you can use the guide in post 2 here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541082
If you using Windows 8.1 you can use the Driver hack I use
posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49131915
The file you use is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2500592&d=1389122072
I repeat this is a REALLY DIRTY solution that may harm your system, personal data, hardware and/or cat.
Here are the steps:
0. Have a Linux or Windows LiveCD just in case something goes wrong
1. Download and extract files from attachment
2. Navigate to the folder corresponding to your system version (x86 = 32-bit, x64 = 64 bit)
3. Right-click franken-usb.bat and click "Run as Administrator"
5. Wait for it to finish and reboot the system. If everything went fine, you will boot your system successfully
6. Install ADB/Fastboot drivers just like on Windows 8
7. Connect your phone in Fastboot mode to your USB 2.0 port and check if it works
8. Enjoy and wait for official fix
How does it work:
It's not any kind of magic - it just replaces Windows 8.1's usbhub.sys and usbport.sys with Windows 8's ones.
Old files don't check for BOS descriptor so Fastboot can work.
Script updated - it should now actually copy the files but please double check if files were copied to C:\Windows\system32\Drivers!
Hope it helps you!
Regards!

if you are now certain that the connection between your PC and phone is now stable, do step "D) Recovery showing 'unable to mount /data' or 'internal storage'" to cleanly reformat your partitions.

I already enabled OEM Unlock and USB Debugging in Developer options.
then I connected my LG G4 H811 to PC and confirmed MTP.
adb devices just shows:
List of devices attached
If I select USB charge instead of MTP, the adb devices shows:
List of devices attached:
LGH811***** device
Then I can do "adb reboot bootloader"
Phone shuts down and get on fastboot with this "waiting for device" I got stuck there.
Does anyone know the reason? Really need to unlock bootloader and then root my phone.
Thanks
Sent from my SM-A800F using XDA-Developers mobile app
Yeah I'm experiencing this too as well! I just recently updated to 20p and I am trying to root again. I was able to use fastboot to install twrp before. Don't know why this is happening.
This is what I did
In fatsboot I saw in device manager my phone was "rats I don't remember-something bootloader device" I chose update driver and browse my filkes and chose the marshal one. after that everything worked fine. Sry I'm an anxious person. Hopes this helps and if not or I could help more ask me more and hopefully I'll be more mellow lol.
Bootloader unrecognized
I used the app shared above and used it to locate the driver and ended up having to roll back to a previous driver and it worked in my case.

Can one of you share a link to the driver you used?

I'm at work won't get off for another 13 hours but like the post maybe two above here it was Marshall something. Go to device manager look for the boot loader adb interface can't remember exactly what it's called and double click it and use the menu option to rollback not update the driver and you should be good. I tried everything else including the one touch and only the rollback worked.
For my computer, it shown up as something like "Kedacom USB Device" in the Device Manager, but I rolled back that driver from 11 to 9 and it worked beautifully!

Do you have the driver? I have none to roll back to.
Okay...
Okay so yeah it says kedacom usb device, that gives me the waiting for device error...in device manager when im in fastboot mode find kedacom device and click on it to see android bootloader interface. Right click on the android bootloader interface and choose update driver, browse my computer for driver software, then let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. From there I choose marshal London bootloader interface. From there everything works... don't have to restart computer of phone, everything works together perfect. Either it came with my computer or its from this install of adb... the 15 sec adb installer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979. Try my steps see if it works!

I am having the "waiting for device" issue. But I dont have the "Marshal London" drivers. I have adb 15 sec drivers installed. Any idea where I could get them?
okay another try..
Okay have you tried, while the waiting for device prompt is up, instead of telling your computer you want to select from the list of drivers, to choose automatic: search online for the driver?
Hi guys,
I need to unroot my RP2 to send it in for repair, but I can't for the life of me get my fastboot drivers working in Windows 10 2004. I've tried various versions of the stock Google USB drivers (bootloader, of course), but the phone still shows up as "Android" in "Other devices".
Thanks in advance for any suggestions, fellas.

Try Samsung USB Drivers. Sometimes theirs work when Google's doesn't.

I downloaded their driver pack, but couldn't find any Android-specific ones. Any idea which one would work?

The issue is with the newest version of windows. I haven't tried the Samsung drivers. What worked for me was making a live usb install of FWUL. Then I could boot from the USB and everything worked.
I have Windows 10 Ver 20H2 installed and can confirm I have gotten ADB and Fastboot drivers WORKING, following the original installation instructions from Razer. It's not very clear, but be SURE to EXTRACT the files AFTER downloading from Razer. Follow the instructions CAREFULLY. I can't tell you how many times I've had to go back and re-read the directions to get it right. I went so far as to reinstall Windows 10 v.1909 on an external drive and issued commands that way, as a work around. Today, I decided to take a chance, and got everything working again.

What errors are you seeing? No communication in fastboot mode? If so, your driver is not properly installed. Your phone MUST be in fastboot mode when installing the driver. If your phone is booted up, you;ll only be able to install the ADB driver.
Additionally, I should have gone back and edited this post. The issue I was facing "back then" was that I didn't follow the driver installation directions EXACTLY. It's a bit confusing, but if you follow it step-by-step, it'll get you there. Also DO NOT use a USB C to C cable or a USB-C port. USB-A 3.0 or slower is a must with this phone. Fastboot mode is VERY picky about which USB protocol and cable you use. Recently found this out with my Surface Pro7 and had to use a regular usb a-c cable going through a 4-port hub to communicate properly and get the correct fastboot driver to install.
so i turn off the phone. plug in to the pc, power on then volume down. i downloaded the drivers from the link, but if i trie to install the drivers(browse in the folder where thr driver is) windows says there are no drivers found for this device.

Open "device manager" with the phone in fastboot mode. Scroll down to "other devices" and you should see "Android" or something of that nature. Right click it and select "update driver" follow the steps on PG 3 of the PDF I sent you and follow them exactly. NOTE where it says to click "Have Disk". Most people click "Android Bootloader Interface" then click "NEXT" at the bottom, DON'T do that. You must click "Have Disk" and then follow the prompts that follow.
Also, did you make sure to set your "environment variables" in "windows adv. system settings? This is so windows knows where to find adb.exe and fastboot.exe to execute commands.

I'm having the same issue with my Sony Pro-I (just here scrounging the webs for clues in other forums)
Got adb to work but windows refuses to recognise my sony driver folder as a valid driver for the device. Did you get past this point or give up? If you solved the issue, what helped?

Okay, simple mistake. Just had to follow the installation instructions more carefully, and not click "next" here, but go to a device list. I think this is where some of us think they know what they're doing and click forward

i tried on multiple windows 10 computers and mine just won't recognize, the driver just doesn't work. i tried on linux and i was able to get fastboot devices to recognize phone but when flashing, it just gets stuck on "sending boot", any ideas?
