[Q] Z1 Display issue (Not touch screen common issue) - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I recently purchased a second hand z1 c6903 (telstra branded), and decided I would start off by loading the iHackers custom rom on. (based off instruction in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439328 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2716182). Now I didn't use it a whole heap before doing this but I didn't notice any issues with the display before starting.
After the first step of downgrading to the Firmware 14.1.G.1.534 the display started going nuts. I suspected something may have gone wrong and started from scratch on another computer and re-flashed the firmware. Problem persisted but everything other than the display seemed to work so I continued rooting the phone, backing up the TA, unlocking the bootload and installing the rom. It all seemed to go fine.
Its hard to describe the issue with the display, its flickering and distorted (tried to make a vid sorry about the quality though https://youtu.be/nyD1o28ipdY)
If you can see in the video it does not do it really in some apps like the calendar and clock, others it does at first then stabilises, doesn't seem to do it at all in the drag down notification menu. Even though its difficult to see the icons, if you know where they are, they seem to respond fine like nothings wrong.
I searched everywhere but couldn't find anyone with a similar issue (May be out there but because the z1 has had such widespread issues with the touch screen thats all I could seem to find).
Was hoping someone with more experience or that has dealt with a similar issue could help in diagnosing the problem or provide a solution?
Thanks in advance
Dean

Wow o.o weird.
Did you flash the latest firmware version before flashing iHackers ROM?

U should try to flash another Kernel. There are many based on stock rom, like FXtrinity and X Honami. try them

Thanks guys.
I didn't flash to the latest, probably should have tried before continuing. Is that something worth trying now (I have never had any issues like this with roms etc I don't know where to start?) I also had flashed to the Kernel.ftf for C6903 (.133) as in the instructions.
I just tried the X-Honami v6 kernal. Still the same.

Anybody have any ideas?
Update:
I bricked it trying to revert back the the telstra branded firmware. Red flashing light. It did vibrate at one stage after pressing the power button but nothing since. Have just been charging it until I get a chance to try and fix it. Doesn't really detect it at all when connected via usb but the usb connection sound keeps going off.

Strange Kaiser Problem with booting

Let me start by saying my Kaiser has been the most reliable and tweak friendly phone I've come across. About 2 weeks ago, however, I started having a strange issue with the boot up of the device from a power off state. Every so often if I boot it, the device hard boots from the internal rom, erasing everything I've changed since burning the rom onto it. I'm convinced it isn't the cooked rom because it worked fine formonths.
Has anyone come across this issue before? I'm more of a computer guy so forgive any illiteracy, but I'm worried it may be a storage problem of some sort.
If anyone has any idea of what is happening, or perhaps knows of a way to log what is happening, please let me know!
After this problem started happening, did you try any other ROMs? If so, did they exhibit the same problem?
Not that I am the world's authority on it but seeing as how I managed to get my IMEI changed with a simple ROM flash...amongst other issues dealing with incomplete flashing etc, seems you could have a corrupted BL, pop into the bootloader screen and have a look if there is any txt on the top right corner....even though it's erratic it could be sorted by a stock reflash and then flashing your personal flavour of ROM...
Vague but hope it helps..

Haven't had the issue in about a week now (crossing fingers) but there was never any text in the top right. I may try reflashing to stock and then back again as you suggested tonight. I use spb backup so whenever the issue occurs im able to just run an exe and restart for full recovery but id rather not rely on that!
Reflashing stock is definitely a good idea, for a while virtually any 6.5 ROM would have a chance of acting up if you didn't flash back to stock first.

[Q] Xperia T FW 9.1.A.0.489 Bug(Solved)

Hi Guys
Follow your developments since a while and thanks a lot for all your hints and tipps
Now i face a serious problem with my "T" and couldnt find a solution. Got new FW .489 couple of days ago and since then my phone keeps on freezing all the time, not matter which app or function i use, and reboots. not a full reboot, it lasts for just a few seconds.
Freezer - black screen - Sony Logo - animated Bootscreen for 4 times - and then its on again
I tried to reproduce the bug, but it happens randomly and is not related to any app.
i repaired the FW 2 times already with PCC, also did a full wipe 3 times, still no solution
Phone is branded, James Bond Edition, Bootloader Unlock: NO
Do you guys have a proper tip ?? i´m currently a little bit angry, cos i cant use the phone properly
Thanks in advance
Try a different .489 firmware for a while or a stock based rom from the development section.
that will at least eliminate the possibility of it being the firmware or pointing to the problem being your handset.

Hi Greg
thanks a lot, i was actually on the way to flash your assaye
the funny thing is, all the previoux FW´s (.1.303, .3.223) were awesome, good battery life and great performance, since the JB the phone is almost useless, because you never know, when it starts to freeze
i will give it a try and report back
Hi Greg
after some flashing around none of the roms were working properly, tried yours and a stock deodexed and another one, cant remember
the only one properly working is the stock .303, as soon as i flash and use the others, i get the freezer
so i called up the company where i bought it and a replacement is on the way...couple of days and i can start a new flash game
thanks a lot for your quick response and the AIO thread:good:

[Q] when you turn it off you will never turn it on again

Hi guys,
I've been looking around a bit but unfortunately I did not find any solution to my problem
Well, I'm a newbie and I got my desire c last december.
Basically since I got it, I've been flashing loads of different roms and never had a problem with it.
Yesterday, I wanted to try the cm10 and I started having difficulties: I got a bootloop after flashing it.
I said "no problems", I tried to reflash it and got the same..then I decided to change rom.
When I changed I had no problems at all..well till I decided to turn off the phone.
Here is the situation I'm stuck now: no matter which rom I decide to flash I always report the same problem, when I turn off the phone I'm never able to turn it on again (when I turn it on I can see the htc logo and only a black screen after)
how can I resolve that? Please I need some help

I'll suppose you tried clean flashing. Check which kernel you are using.
You need to use CM10 kernel for CM10 and Sense for the Sense roms.
If its the correct kernel, try a lower clock frequency.
If you havent tried clean flashing:
Dirty flashing can cause a lot of errors so i suggest that you perform a clean flash.
If you get this error again, you should try to post a logcat using adb. There are guides on how to do that all over the web.
I hope i helped, and if there are any further questions, ask away :3
ommicsiy conduted
thanks for the answer!
well actually I did a clean flash..
and it can't be a matter of kernel since I tried different roms with different kernels and the problem is the same..
tomorrow after work I'll try the logat and post it
since I was not able to do it trough adb (-waiting for the device- for about 30 mins..)
I flashed again a rom and used catlog.
here is the outcome!

Replacement Touch Screen Not Working?

Hi,
I don't know if any can help me at all please?
I just replaced the Touch Screen & Frame on my UK Xperia Z1
The process was fairly straightforward and everything went back together just fine but although the phone powers on ok and the display is good it will not respond to any touch? I have completely redone my work to check I had not missed anything but I still have the same problem. I have loaded stock KitKat & Lollipop but to no avail. I can use the phone with a mouse/keyboard without a problem but absolutely no touch response at all..
I hope somebody can point me in the right direction.
Many Thanks
Try to flash a stock rom via flashtool.
I have a similar problem, any rom flashed via fastboot will cause the touchscreen not to respond

O2 UK D5803 Can't downgrade to kitkat, gets to wavy lines, freezes and then restarts

Hi all, i've got a strange problem with a D5803 which is bootloader locked and on the O2 network in the UK whereby I can downgrade to kitkat with the generic D5803_23.0.A.2.93_Generic GLOBAL.ftf or any other variation of it and when flashtool has installed it and I restart the phone it gets about 10 seconds into the wavy line bootscreen and then freezes and restartsthe phone. After it's done that it then gets back to the wavy lines and freezes again and has an annoying noise where the sound of the bootscreen's audio has glitched and then stays in a bootloop.
I've tried all different manner of ways and have exhausted all my search & google-fu and can't find out what's preventing it or a way to get around it, I only want to root it and nothing seems to work! The only ftf that always works are the ones that you can find in Experifirm under O2 pay monthly, they always install fine but none of the others will no matter which version I try, kitkat, 5.0.2, none! I've also tried to build my own firmware with experifirm but that also resulted in the same problem so i'm at a loss as to what to try next!
Has anybody got any ideas as to what might be wrong or help me to at least get root please? I'd really appreciate it, thanks in advance.
I found out what my problem was, can't say that i'd noticed it mentioned, only found it by looking at videos and pics taken of Flashtool which had ticks in the APPS_LOG & USERDATA boxes which then proceeded to resolve my issue and flash properly! All them hours and that's all I needed to do, now rooted on lollipop as I wanted!
great you found the solution bro!
