I was considering buying the Infuse I was wondering if anybody has/uses both I have a few questions:
Does the GPS actually work without a random hardware factor.
How easy is it to install a custom ROM compared to the Cappy
Is there a Better choice the 4.5" screen is nice but is there a new/better phone in the works with a dual core that would be better to wait on.
Anything else I should know before/if I choose to upgrade.
Why don't you ask this in the infuse Q&A? They would know better than us.
I was looking for a comparison between the 2 phones they could have have told me all about the Infuse on their section but I was curious about how it stacked up against my current phone a cappy.
This caught my eye I was hoping there were some answers in here lol

Your best bet would be to read over the Q&A section and see what they say. No one will be able to tell you if you will like it more or less then your captivate. Should make your own mind up with research.
I keep looking at different ROM's and then see notes later on that they will not work on Rogers. What ROM should I use? What is it that will not work?
Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I did a lot of searching before posting this.
Thank you.
i love darkyrom. runs pretty smooth and fast. for battery life i use kingdom rom. really up to you what you want. fast and smooth or battery life
ICS and Speed
Looking for mostly ICS and speed. Tired of waiting for the update. As long as battery life did not get worse I would be fine. Not worried about overclocking.

You are in the wrong forum my friend. The Rogers Note is the same as the ATT variant and is NOT compatible with anything here in the N7000 forums. Search for ATT Galaxy Note and you will be taken to the right section.
Hello People,
Ive just recieved my Galaxy Note, I have come from a HTC One X. I have always had HTC phones but was let down in my experiance with the One X.
Ive been reading the Dev thread and a few TUTS and from what I understand, I need to, Downgrade my firmware to a rootable version, CWM and then im good to go! Also I need the ICS repack if Im going to dable with the ICS roms out there.
I havent used Odin since my Galaxy Tab left, I may be a little rusty, I had read about the creation of Mobile Odin but havent used it at all.
Just wondering if any of you kind people have any major DO's or DO NOTs, also a gent over on the One X forum that had a Note mentioned to me that he had a "Unbrick device" of some sort that he picked up for a couple of quid? Anyone know anything more?
TIA.
The device is called a jig and you can get one for a buck at dealextreme

Best DO #1 - make a backup first!
BEST DO #2 - read the forums!
BEST DO # 3 - always wait at least a day once a ROM is released on the forums before updating - and always read the responses from the last 24 hours. Amazing how many people report wonderful battery life ..... after using it for about 3 hours! May seem harsh, but there seem to be a lot of easily pleased people out there.
Don't get me wrong - I do appreciate all of the dev and chef work. But do read initial posts ... PLUS >>>I'm waiting for a N7700 based ICS, it seems that all current ones are based on SGII.
Good luck... and Respect Your Note
Sound advice my man.
After playing with it stock, im happy at the moment. Obviously its a completely different experiance from HTC and so its probably the novelty factor, but im liking the built in magazines/newspapers and the UI is livable with.
Im sure it wont be long until I root away. Especially since ive been informed of this jig (thanks man) no flash count and saviour from bricks! Happy days.
Thanks for taking the time to reply folks.

Have fun..tis a great device!
Just to be warned not ever brick is recoverable so friendly advice read read read when doing anything and don't be in a hurry to install the latest and greatest roms ect like I did
Did my search but nothing found! (Maybe I didn't try hard enough?) I'm questioning the rom/firmware gurus on this one.
I previously owned a N9005 variant and loved the rom! Now I was at At&t messing with the Note 3 N900A and its BLOATED! Now I do know it'll probably require a root but is it possible to install the N9005 version of android on the N900A. Yes there is a difference!

You can't just use the 9005 ROM, you have to have a ported ROM. Xnote over in the development section is based off the international version and it's what I use. And yes, your right. There is a huge difference lol
Sweet, thanks for the response. I knew it would need to be ported over but I'll check Xnote out!
Anyone familiar with Straight talk sim cards as in is there two different micro sims? (Grey and Blue?)
Sorry I can't tell you the difference in SIM cards. But can you tell me some software differences you found between the 9005 and 900A?

I had a Czech variant of the N9005. I couldn't pick up At&t 4G/LTE because of software restrictions but I can say. It ran a lot cleaner. Everything was a lot more responsive. I'm thinking the N900A, why it's backed up a little because of its bloatware from hell and back! When I mentioned about the difference earlier in my posting. It dawned on me that some of those things I liked on the N9005 was part of the LTE features and the N900A doesn't have those features. Impossible to get but I did notice which I miss is when you hold the power button on the N9005. A menu appears and give you several options. The N900A doesn't give you those options. Only very little options which I miss.
When texting, At&t has this symbol that appears to the left of the suggestive would you may be typing. Annoying as hell but the N9005 doesn't have it. Another reasons why I'm after that copy.

Thanks for sharing with me. I appreciate it. For weeks I tossed and turned about getting an 9005, or a plain unlocked 9000. Finally I tried squeezing an early upgrade out of att and got an 900A for cheap. I don't regret that now thanks to your remarks. I rooted, and debloated it so it seems a lot more peppy to me now than before. I also installed xposed framework. Using Gravity box and Wanam modules gives me some user customization. Like the power menu you mention. I prefer the swype keyboard, so I don't have your annoying suggestive word issue. So the only thing I'm missing out on are some LTE features. I'm not even sure what those are, so I guess ignorance is bliss in this case lol! Thanks again for your info.
Well in the Unbranded section of the N9005. Seems like a few members have a hunch that they can get the N9005 to read At&t bands. If it comes to light. It's do-able. I will be converting back over but will just have two Note 3s, ha. Now your N900A, how does it run without that extensive amount of bloatware?
Never got used to swype but the N9005 didn't have the annoying little arrow that pops up but maybe its just me being picky.

There's nothing wrong with being picky about our features! Android wouldn't of made it this far if people weren't picky lol!
Swype will suck for the first week of use. Make sure you register and backup your information. You have to mold the dictionary to you by adding your emails, passwords, and acronyms. If I add my 12 letter long last name on a tablet dictionary, it also adds it on my phone dictionary. So feeding the dictionary knowledge is easy. People are dumbfounded when they see how quickly I swype in information. Especially email addresses. I don't think I could live anymore without my swype!
I am a HUGE fan of debloating!!! I understand why carriers put that crap there. But I hope they understand the first day I have my device, is the same day I freeze and blast there crap outta here! Who wants att wifi app constantly turning on wifi and looking for signal? What a resource hog! Who wants drive mode when they have a galaxy gear? Who wants att navigation when google maps is preinstalled? I mean come on carriers!!! Nice try! I constantly monitor wake locks, and triggers. 3/4 of my waking and running activity is gone now that I've removed bloat. I haven't hit 40k on antu benchmark yet. But I'm happy with my 36.5k stats.
Sorry to hijack your thread

Oh no no no. Not a problem at all. Just got off the phone with Straight talk. Since my Sim card is the older version. I had for my S3. It's doesn't carry the LTE compatibility. Just ordered another but while on my hunt for a decent ROM. You using stock Rom but debloated or? Asking because I'm not a real fan of XNote. I'm thinking of popping her cherry and breaking her in. (Phone's stock, not rooted yet)

Pop her cherry! Give her some kingo love and xposed framework. Don't forget to tibu her bloated butt lol!
I'm on the stock rom rooted and debloated. No custom roms and I'm more than happy with her! I am also picky. I've flashed a lot of custom roms in my day for my previous note devices. Just not the note 3 yet. It's snappy and VERY reliable/stable.

I had tried many different ROMS on my S3 but this will be my first with Note 3. I didn't even break in my N9005. I was chicken **** to do so. It was snappy and stable for me. I had no reason to root it.

If you're easily susceptible to peer pressure, and don't want to void your warranty, please don NOT read the next sentence.
Ahh come on! no need to be scared. Just root it! You know you want too! Everyone cool is doing it!! lol!
But on a serious note (not sure if pun is intended or not), you'll love xposed framework and debloating. It might give you back that 9005 rush you had.

Hey guys, is the offical stock rom n9005 go straight forward to be installed on n900a?
Hello all. First off, congratulations on being the proud owners of this "DOPE'TASTIC" device.
I was hoping that this request would be heard by the sites MOD's and possibly even implemented.
But I was hoping that maybe someone would be so kind as to start a Canadian Carrier thread? Sprint, AT&T, T-mo all have their own and from what I have heard they all (or most) have locked boot loaders (may be horribly wrong on that, please don't crucify me). But perhaps in the goodness of the sites MOD's hearts they would consider my request. Just got this device today, AM SUPER EXCITED TO GET TWEEKING. But admittedly the many variants of the device have... complicated the research process.
Anyone agree with me???
Also, the software update which has been prompted from the point I turned this thing on. Should that be avoided allowing to begin? I bought this last night, and unfortunately am working today so I do not have the time to research that I usually would right out of the gate. Any input would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
There is already a "Note 4 - Canadian Thread" that has a lot of information.
Ohhh, well then. Mod's please delete this thread. My apologies. :-/

Well since our thread has disappeared without explanation (being a bastard child in every galaxy) , just to answer few of yours.
Don't worry about first boot update. Allow it. It will not hamper rooting or modding. You will trip Knox.
Basically tmobile model is closest to ours, so let that be your guide, although there are some Canadian specifics that should be followed. Roms in tmobile section have Canadian instructions if they're made with us in mind in adition to tmobile.
The rest is up to you to read.
Euro firmwares are compatible as well, but more reading and specific rules to be followed are a must.

Nice! Thats exactly what I needed to know. Most devices ive used in the last 2 years were AT&T varients. Therefore i was surprised when I realized Note4 was not. Note 1+2 through Rogers were, as was the S4. So was surprised to see this is not.
Thanks for the starting point, especially with the firmware update. With Note 2 (if i remember correctly) if you accepted the initial FW update you were in trouble.

Even for s4, starting from kernel, our model was more similar to tmobile. It just happened that att had Devs that supported us more, and was root able at the beginning.
Now, due to bootloader, they don't even deserve a thread, yet they got a section. A ghost town.

lol, Yeah I noticed that. Its... The way it is I guess...
Was BLOWN AWAY buy how many variants are out there on Note 4. Was a little over whelming on the first day reading through all the forums. I really do feel that there are enough people with Canadian devises to warrant a device specific thread however. But at the very least the T-mo thread seems to cater to Canadians pretty well. iB4sTiD is in there, a name i know WELL from the AT&T S4 forums, Actually I am SUPER excited to see him working for Note4. REally solid guy, and he always builds both American and Canadian roms.
To be honest I'm little disillusioned with the custom tw rom scene. So for a while I'm keeping it stock, with my own slim down, and xposed.
See no reason to load custom rom at this time as they are basically doing what I can do for myself without someone else deciding.
Good old times when patches and hacks and customization is done on framework itself (xposed does impact performance, compared to stock, no matter what. I live with it and am happy that it's there, but it's a fact) with jkay, etc. Now custom roms are slim with xposed, which I basically explained above.
Even custom kernels are making me lose more in features than I gain in performance.

would just like to know at least why? our thread have been deleted too....

I think after doing a crapload of reading that i understand what you are saying. Honestly i used to HATE touchwiz but it seems so smooth and fast on this phone that it almost feels right?
I never in my life thought I would say that I would like A TW ROM... But, it appears to work with this phone and with exposed being what it is...
Strange feeling, not immediately flashing a custom build...

Why the hell did the Canadian thread get deleted.....FFS!
@celkin please note you either have to use option in wanam module, or do a build prop edit to get rid of extreme lag once you install xposed first time.
Important note. Never turn on secure boot in security if you're loading custom recovery in the future.
Explanation to the rest. @celkin asked which modules I'm using, but couldn't post Screenshots in pm.
Thanks man. I have noticed wynham is... Strange. Thanks for the tip
