[Q] Note 4 after Root not calibrated anymore - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi XDA Forum,
I have a problem with my Note 4. After i Rooted the phone my touchscreen doesn't work anymore. It started when i restart the phone and i couldn't type my code for the sim. With the pen it works fortunately but not with the finger touch. If i am in an App the touchscreens works sometimes correct sometimes not. But in the screenmode it has a deviation of half a centimeter. I've tried anything, also completely back to the initial factory settings but nothing helps. Is there anyone who can help me?

[Q] Galaxy Note Screen Keyboard Insensitivity Problems

I notice that this happens quite often where after typing a certain number of words these 3 keys become unresponsive and does not work sometimes i need a long hard press to get it to work rather than just touch. Other keys are just fine.
It's [p] [backspace arrow] and [enter]
Im using the swype keyboard. Is it a swype issue? I have not managed to test it without the swype but my phone has been like this ever since I bought it. I am a heavy user and no1 i know who uses the note has this issue.
Is anyone able to clarify? Is it a screen problem cause i'll go claim my warranty since the service centre is right round the corner if this is the case.
Feedback much appreciated. Thanks
Could this be a screen hardware defect in my unit?

Nope.. If you are in old firmware update to LA4. there was some touch sensitive issues in old Firmwares. but those are fixed in LA4 or LA6.
Thanks but mine isnt rooted. im on Gingerbread 2.3.6. baseband version N7000DXKL2
Are there any known issues with this stock version? I did a full screen test *#0*# and no problems with every category.
Another issue i notice is my SMS's keep getting resent upon reboot and i've uninstalled SMS Popup not sure if it has been fixed will continue to monitor. As far as i have read via google search: there's no fix for this?

There were few bugs are their in old ROMs so Samsung pushing all new LA4 & LA6 ROM to all regions. wait for it. and more over ICS coming to Note very soon. i guess all problems ll be solved.
The original mytouch 4g has the same issue unless you run stock software. Happened to me on 3 different phones, drove me nuts.

Ah alright, that's much appreciated as it;s frustrating to make a typo and not be able to backspace to fix the spelling error lolz ~.~
Check your hand-set with the screen test.Dial *#0*# from dial pad. A screen will appear. select touch test and test your phone's screen. Do it when you are holding it in your hand and when your hand-set is kept on a hard surface. If there is sensitivity issue in any of the test get your handset replaced or change the kernel version to get rid of the issue.

[Q] Strange touch screen problem

Hello,
I bought recently one galaxy s3 mini with defect from ebay. The defect is weird, because it don´t allow me to press the number 7 8 and 9 (it enters the above or the ones down in the keypad. What I find really odd is that when the keyboard pop-out (browser) i manage to enter all the letters I want in that particular place where it should not recognize touch.
(BTW, When I dial*#0*# and use the touch test it don´t recognize touch in the 6th square in all 3 rows, i never see it say pass).
Is there any way of putting the android with the level of accuracy and precision of the keyboard for all the time and screens?
Thanks for you help,
João Azevedo

sometimes wiping cache and factory reset will help :good:
Well, the first thing I did was a full wipe. I´ve already flashed different ROM with ODIN, so that won´t help (unfortunately). I manage to dial, I simply have to turn my phone and I´m able to use it... And when a button of confirmation appear in that area also do that or use the rotation locker app to force Landscape.
But I´m sure there must be a way to put all the touching with the accuracy and precision of the keyboard... The difficult is to find it.
Thanks anyway for the ideas.

Galaxy note 5 920c pressure points not working

Hello, all of sudden my note 5 pen pressure points are not working anymore, no matter how I use the stylus it will always write with the same "weight".
Has this happened to anybody else?? Is there a way to fix it?? I tried restoring my note to default settings but nothing happened... haven't tried formatting it yet but I'd rather not
Hope it's not anything hardware related
Already tried changing the tip of the pen
Edit: Tried formatting it and the problem remains, I guess faulty unit?

I guess it is a hardware fault...best you can do is send it to warranty. I have my unit for a year now, and never had problems with the s pen and pressure points. Hope you find a solution fast. Best of luck! Cheers.
Pressure sensor is in the S-pen, so test it with other S-pen (of any Note 1-5).
In developers options, available after tapping multiple times on build number at device info, you can test S-pen pressure function by selecting Input-Show location pointer (not sure whether that's the English function name...) it shows the pressure in top of screen....

HELP! Verizon SMN920VZKA Note 5 only the stylus is working!!

Hello, as mentioned in the title I have a Verizon SMN920VZKA Note 5 and I'm now using Straight Talk as a wireless provider. Recently my phone touch screen has quit responding to finger touches except for the return arrow and the muti window button. I need to be able to using my fingers again, please help!!! Please send me the links to the files I need or just shoot me...
I have already:
Wiped the cache - didn't make a difference
Factory reset - didn't make a difference
I really appreciate your help!!
Screen or main board is damaged, This repair may be beyond your capabilities. Keep using the S-Pen until you get a new phone.
Not Firmware Related?
Ok. I really appreciate your reply and advice. I thought it was going to be a firmware issue in which I would flash using Odin. I have replaced a couple of iPad screens/ digitizers, is it much more difficult than that? Or is the cost of replacement not worth time and value? Any input of the next great phone that is out there that I can use with Straight Talk/ Verizon network? I deffinenately know I want a phone that is able to get root, not this VZ lock BS.

(N9208) Tune touch sensitivity without rooting the phone?

Hello, I'm a junior member here, I learned a lot from XDA as I read many threads but only have posted a bit.
My Note5 has been showing touchscreen malfunctions for a while, nowadays I'm using the S-pen. The first time I realized I tried to wipe the cache, and it didn't work. I booted into safe mode but it didn't fix it. I realized it was a hardware related thing. Then I tried to remove the screen protector, it did work, but not much later it happened again. I cleaned my screen and it worked (and start malfunctioning again minutes later).
I concluded that the oil from my finger was the problem, but unlike any other phones I've had, the touch begins to malfunction just because of a very tiny amount of grease build up.
(for example, if there's a small build up on the 'A' key on the keyboard, whenever I touch other areas, the 'A' key will also recieve touch input.)
I think tuning the touch sensitivity will help. So I asked for help here.
Was my conclusion wrong or is there any solution that requires no rooting?

Nice, it works! But may I know why did it happen? Perhaps I can prevent it in the future. What happened?
(Update) The screen malfunctioned again. I tried to update the touchscreen firmware again and nothing happened. I was thinking wether flashing a custom kernel and ROM would fix this or not, should I?
Replace the phone, could be the screen or the motherboard. Don't bother fixing it.

The weird part is it does work perfectly sometimes but most other time, it doesn't. I'm going to do a factory reset tonight to see if it works or not, or to decide wether I should flash a new ROM or not.
In my place here, a nearby retail store is willing to buy my Note5 for around $130, pretty sad to know. I love the S-pen but can't afford the Note 9 nor the Note 8. Should I buy a Samsung tablet with an S-pen instead?(it's currently on 25% discount).
Update: Is it a coincidence if the touch is problematic during heavy task (e.g. multitasking, running demanding apps, or playing games) and working fine during standby or light tasks?
