Somehow the GSM mode of my stock ROM has started to work only when the WIFI is on.
When I switch the WIFI off, the data connection disappears along the symbol (G, E or 3G). When I switch the WIFI on again, G, E or 3G symbol reappears and the data connection starts to work (if there are WIFI hotspots nearby).
When I'm using CM12 (which is in the ROM slot 1), everything works just OK but somehow the stock ROM is faster with some apps so I'd like to use it with those apps. But how to regain the data connection to stock ROM when there are no WIFI hotspots around? I've tried to reflash Mentor's CDMA to GSM patch (older and newer versions) but that doesn't seem to fix the situation. Any hints how to get this fixed???

Which one of those ROM would be suitable for my Droid 4? It has Jelly Bean so there are at least two Jelly Bean versions on that site. Which one of those is the "correct" one?

First version is from 2013, and only
98.72.18.XT894
There are 2 versions of 98.72.188.XT894
On Megs site.
One With bloatware and one I removed most of the bloatware, so it could be restored on preinstall /webtop slot.
Any of them should work fine, but 98.72.188.XT894 is newer.

Can either of those be installed with the Safestrap's install function? I.e. I'd wipe the original stock ROM away and install your ROM into its ROM slot.

Very sorry for newbie Q. I've been using Android for one month now. Though I've rooted, and install CWM, it seems that my knowledge is fragmented. For instance, I installed ROM Manager and ClockWorkMod. Both have backup/restore option. Is Nandrloid backup similar to this? Or CWM is the nandroid backup?
Coz I'm thinking about flashing the baseband and it says i need to do nandroid backup.
thanks
The backup feature in CWM is called a nandroid backup

Yup, you are right! It's the same thing.

Two more questions:
1. I read from a few threads that restore function of CWM may not necessarily working. How do we know when we do the back up that it'll work when we need to restore?
2. The CWM that i downloaded is 3.0.8. I read somewhere that the newest is 3.2 something. How can i upgrade to that? It seems that 3.2 can solve this restore failure.
thanks
If you look in the CWM 3.2.0.0 thread, you'll notice there is a zip file, in that is the recovery image and a batch file that will install it for you.

I did trust CWM with backup of my system before i tried cyanmod ROM... I have three backups on my SD card and CWM restores fine, but system wont boot. So i had to build my phone all new again.
Dont trust CWM
After rebuilding you could have have restored the data backup (not system and boot) and you'd have been OK.
but the need to still rebuild still equates to CWM backups are useless.

That's only true for the original ROM, for custom ROM it's a perfect solution, you just have to flash the ROM again after the restore.

now, i'm confused. So, it's not enough that we restore but we need to flash it again? Like in nvflash or smartflash? Then what is it that we restore?
Also, I just flashed CMW 3.2. Do i need to create a new backup since currently my back up is from CMW 3.0.8?
By flash the ROM again, I meant run the zip file with the custom ROM on from Cwm. You will then have all your data and settings back.

Do you really have a zip file with stock rom? I don't think so.

One could be made though, I suppose.
Sorry I'm confused now
CWM backups don't work? is that why I can't see them when I open CW Rom Manager? I can see them on the SD card but not in the program...
If these backups do not work, is there another way of making backups that work? I don't want to be left with a bricked phone if I try out some ROMS...
I saw a youtube video that showed how to use NVflash, but it was for the G2X and incredibly complicated, battery was taken out, and the phone was plugged in/out of the pc several times, etc... Is theres something similar for the O2X?
Cheers

The update should not affect your data, meaning safe strap should already be installed. Just to be safe, run the safe strap app and verify. If you have root with forever root, you should be good to go, otherwise you may need to re root.
You should verify before doing anything that eclipse actually works with 904 before going there, but yeah, after all is said and done, you'll need to reinstall eclipse.

You must apply this patch to stock, unmodified system (rooted is ok). If you are running safestrap you need to switch to unsafe system before proceeding. If you installed a custom ROM using bootstrap, you need to restore stock (not worth your time for this update IMO).
Unsafe. Safe is the one where we can install custom ROMs....

You probably aren't stock 'enough'. Did you remove anything, or customize something?
Anybody able to flash beats on this? I did it once using safestrap and ended up at a black screen
Took my bionic out of the drawer and put my active SIM in.
I flashed this (no factory reset or wipe)... Once it finished booting up, it started bringing down app updates (about 15 since I had the Bionic off for so long), and within 15 min, I lost the blue 3G with 4 bars lit (RSSI -72dbm CDMA eHRPD), and had just 3 white bars no "G's"... and a pop-up saying "no internet connection"... after about 10 min, I got a white 3G with 4 bars (I didn't check RSSI), and another few minutes, the 3G turned blue and started downloading again.
If I get another data drop, I'll likely WIPE the phone and try again. but with 88 apps installed, wiping, reloading apps, etc... isn't something I want to do right away.
My bionic and TB are setup exactly the same way, with the same apps (except Go Contacts EX on the Bionic, which isn't on the TB)... The TB still hasn't exhibited these data drops the Bionic has. If I wipe the Bionic, I'll probably switch back to the TB while I do it and re-configure it.
Surprisingly for me, my data has been rock solid since updating to. 904
O and beats audio works. The issue was with safestrap

Updated Safestrap for RAZR-HD/Atrix-HD to v3.12:
Download the APK Installer Here for "RAZR-HD/ATRIX-HD"
md5sum: 9b3d75e84c06d1e71af1bf1bad57faf3
FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS: How to Safestrap
CHANGES:
[01/04] (3.12) Fix initial file selector location for backup/restore
[12/29] (3.11) Allow use of custom updater-binary in .zip files for flashing on stock ROM (virtual slots still use prebuilt updater-binary in recovery).
[12/29] (3.11) BUGFIX: Fixed fake flash error at the end of a .zip install. (No real error, .zip installs fine)
[12/29] (3.10) Early support for booting custom ROMs on stock partitions. * STILL TESTING -- BUGGY*
[12/29] (3.10) Enable flashing to stock ROM
After .zip installations, nandroid restore or system wipe on the stock ROM: the current Safestrap files are restored to the system partition (Doesn't include the APK in /data -- so if you're restoring an old backup, be sure to update the Safestrap APK)
During the Safestrap files restore a check is done to be sure there are minimal files on /system to re-enter Safestrap
[12/27] (3.07) Bugfix: missed some changes in Safestrap 3.06
[12/26] (3.06) Bugfix/Update for JB4.1 OTA for DroidRAZR (Non-JB devices can also use)
SPECIAL THANKS TO:
- The entire TWRP team who has built an AMAZING recovery system.
- The testers (BigDX) which have helped in past and present versions of Safestrap, knowing that it could mean they brick their devices.
As always let Hashcode know what you think!!!
For users running jellybean leak only
INSTRUCTIONS for getting STOCK running on a rom-slot:
[ EDIT: 11/15, Removed fix-rom-slot.zip from instructions. It's no longer needed and screws up paid apps. ]
STEPS:
1. Install Safestrap 3 from the above notes
2. Reboot into recovery
3. Make a backup of your stock rom slot
4. Go into "Boot Options" and create a new rom-slot (if you haven't) -- 1GB data is probably good enough for most users
5. Once that is created it may say "rom slot: off" at the top, make sure to go back into the new rom-slot and use "Activate" button
6. Now use the "Restore" button on the main menu to restore the backup you made of stock to the new rom-slot
7. When that's done restoring, use "Wipe" -> "Factory Reset" and then "Dalvik Cache" from the main menu
8. At this point you should have a full working copy of the stock MotoBlur ROM on a rom-slot which you can flash and modify w/o fear of bricking.
9. Reboot and enjoy
IF USERS on STOCK ICS want a method for getting that onto a rom-slot as well, let Hashcode know.
When I open up the apk it closes and says unfortunately safe strap has stopped working

Do not install this on a Sprint Galaxy S4!!!
I made a mistake by trying to do a mod to make my Sprint S4 able to write to the SD card, and ended up having to re-flash Kit-Kat. This installed Kit-Kat NAE, but not English, and certainly not for Sprint variant. This if for international I9505 (or something like that).
Look in the Android Development forum for a the stock rooted Sprint Galaxy S4 NAE 4.4.2 Kit-Kat. I just installed that one with success.

Because I flashed this. It installed, and it wasn't in English in initial setup. Was in German, or Dutch, or some other European language. I was able to choose English setup though. Got it going, made my way to Settings, About Phone, and said model I9505. Modem didn't work, so no wifi or phone signal. Plus no Sprint boot logo, and the Samsung boot logo had a little music jingle with it, Sprint does not.

My Droid 4 has not been rooted, and I am using Android version 4.0.4. Many months ago, I used DFS cdma tool and the phone's Program Menu to change settings on the phone to work on the Page Plus 3G network. Is it possible to simply reverse all of the setting changes I previously made so that it will work with 4G? And can I do this WITHOUT a factory reset/wipe?
In other words, can I just change NVONLY back to RUIM, RevA_MFPA back to RevA_EHRPD, re-apply 4G Test UICC, reapply LTE bppanic, etc., etc., have my new Page Plus 4G sim card on hand, and then call Page Plus for activation of 4G and be done with it?

I think that all you need to do is leave the radio changes and follow http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...viously-Flashed-Droid-Razr-XT912-On-PP-4G-LTE
but don't know for sure, just don't flash the Razr firmware, that will brick the Droid 4

A few options that may work.
1 flash .img files ICS .XML from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=11
using Fastboot I have written some instructions that should work fine here Unbrick Moto device with moto-fastboot.exe
should just be able to flash the radio.img
2. root, safestrap, backup data, flash full .xml with rsd lite, reroot, bootstrap, restore
3. flash .xml with rsd flasher, I have not used it.
4. wait for someone else to report what works
Thanks sd_shadow for your suggestions.! I've noticed in researching this that several people mentioned one of the things you suggested: Flashing Droid 4 firmware from the sbf droid developers link using RSD Lite. Actually, just flashing the radio.img also sounds very interesting. But having never used RSD Lite (or similar program) before, I'm a worried about something going wrong and bricking my phone. But maybe it's the best method.
Other people (using phones other than the Droid 4) said they just had to change NVONLY back to RUIM and do a factory reset/wipe. I'm hoping to find a simple method that won't require wiping my data, downloaded apps, etc., but maybe that's not possible.
Either way install official moto drivers without droid 4 connected, reboot PC, then connect droid 4, wait for PC to find the installed drivers, could take a few mins first time. Then reboot droid 4 to ap fastboot and check device manager should match my installing drivers section in my list.

Thanks again for your help . A LOT of well-organized and helpful info in your links!
I changed the settings I made with DFS cdma tool and the phone's built-in program menu used to get 3G, back to the original 4G settings, and it worked! Called Page Plus, and now everything (except for MMS on stock text messaging) seems to be working. So in my case, with my unrooted Droid 4 on Android 4.0.4, there was no need to Factory Reset/Wipe or RSD Lite back to stock.
