[Q] LOKP rom - AOKP Feature Development

So hey im fairly new to xda, ive been reading the forms for a while but when i started to really gain interest in android kernels and Roms I decided to join. Ive begun to develop my own ROM based on aokp called lokp, but one question I have is how to you change the default background from an aokp ROM (just extracted from zip). (kitkat nightly):good:

Just change the wallpaper as you usually would. I.e. long press the home screen or from the menu.. choose from any wallpapers you may have downloaded or from your gallery. Hope this helps.

Gingerbread Goodies for Stock Roms

Hi there,
I've tried practically every custom ROM out there, and ultimately, I've found myself preferring to install the stock ROMs + cfRoot.
When JVB came out, I used the excellent "5 lockscreen mod" from dhiru1602 to get various goodies that are the staple of custom ROMs such as choice of lockscreen, scroll, overglow, CRT sleep effect and extended power menu. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036859).
I'm now looking at installing JVO, which I don't think is supported by that mod. Does anyone know how else I can these goodies on their own, without having to install a new theme entirely, and keep as close-to-stock as possible?
Thanks in advance for any tips.
if you want to do it on your own you should know about compile and decompile of apk files and also know how to work with smali and baksmali moreover you should be familiar with xml and java perhaps. its a long way to go friend.
I have seen some mods for jvo at theme section which are close to the stock rom
Brotuck has created a mod which is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Eureka!

Questions about two ROMs

Hi!
I have questions about more ROMs. I tested the last time nearly every ICS-ROM. I hope that someone can help me....GALAXY S I9000
-CM9: Why there aren`t some options that in other ROMs are still exist for example AOKP? For example the option to change the lockscreen is not there yet
-AOKP: Every time i go to the option to edit the Lockscreen i get a FC of Rom-Control......why?
-From were i can find the Rom-Control.apk? Can i install it on every AOKP-Rom?
Thank you for your help!
I can't answer CM9 queries I haven't been on it yet, that is more of a feature request that you need to take up with them..
AOKP: What do you mean edit the lockscreen? Do you mean the wallpaper? That is now fixed, download the latest from my sig below.
Rom control should already be on every AOKP rom, so you shouldn't have to install it.
However if you still want it, it's located at /system/app
Hi Talon,
thank you for your answer.
I mean generell the option "Locksreen"....When i want to enter this option on the AOKP-build31 i get an FC from Rom-Control....
I really don`t understand the thing with CM9. I love Cyanogenmod but i want more customizable options that are included in AOKP
I just re-read the lockscreen thing for CM9. Are you sure it isn't there settings/security/screen lock
I think you need to re-flash AOKP possibly with wipe. But use titanium backup (seems to be more through sometimes) or via manage apps, find rom control and clear data. Hopefully that works otherwise you will possibly have to reflash.
Im using the lockscreen options on my phone right now, so it must just be your phone.

[Q] Installed SlimBean - now I need some of the original apps back

Hello!
I am getting a little into flashing my N7000 and so far I have travelled from rooting, to upgrading to the latest official Note ROM that was released in another country than mine, to SuperNExus to most recently Slim Bean
I am missing a couple of the original apps from the stock ROM (latest one I used was "XXLSZ_Stock_deodexed_rooted_eybee1970")
Apparently, just copying them out from the ZIP file and trying to install them isn't the right way to do.
Among others, I need
* S Note
* The app/function that knows when I plug in my headset and it shows that whole new page
* Dialer
* Keyboard with the digits on top
* Clock / Alarm clock
* S Planner Calendar
Most important is that I want to learn more and understand the main problem.
So copying wasn't the right way.
I have a feeling (based on fragments that I read here and there) that flashing might be the right way, file-permissions and stuff.
If I am on the right track - is there any software/tool that creates a flashable file for me? I have been rooting around inside the ZIP files and I understand some of the ideas, the update-script and so. But trying to make one own from scratch is too hard right now.
Another problem I had once, was the pointer image. Previously, it was a nice little circle. Then at some point (maybe the Nexus ROM) it became a classical window-arrow. I managed to understand how to open an APK, switch out the PNG file and so on. But since I didn't know how to flash in just that APK, I had to flash in the whole ROM from scratch.
I assume that such tool I am asking about previously would have been the solution.
Beside that, I would like to know if anyone knows if there is an original-app-pack for Note already. I need to know the answer for above as well though
Thanks in advance!
[Q] Need some information about the lockscreen in SlimBean/SuperNexus ROM
I installed SuperNexus ROM and after that Slim Bean.
They both had that nice lock screen where you could swipe to bring forth the camera.
What is this lock screen called? I need that so that I can search for info about it.
Among the questions I have now are
* If I change to pattern instead of slide, I loose the ability to have shortcuts. Is there any other way to have shortcuts and pattern?
* When I swipe to the left, I see a + and I can add widgets. However, I can only add one widget and no ability to rescale the widget or anything. Is there a way to add more widgets per page or modifying the widget that is there already, like rescaling it?
Thanks!
The Samsung apps like Snote and Splanner will not work on the non-touchwiz custom roms like supernexus or slimbean. So if you want those apps you will have to flash a TW (touchwiz based) ROM like the alliance ROM. The other features like pagebuddy and the keyboard with digits on top will also be available only in the TW ROMs (you can search apps for the keyboard and pagebuddy and you may find them)

The lockscreen you are talking about is the 4.2 lock screen with lock screen shortcuts. It is a feature of Android 4.2 only. And no u do not have an option for shortcuts on the pattern lock or any of the other secure ways. But you may add a widget for the app on the lock screen clicking on the '+' symbol. And i had read about adding multiple widgets on one page of the lock screen but didn't come across with anything useful then. You can give it a try now.

What does it mean, "touchwiz based ROM". I have seen other terms, "X"-based ROM (maybe CM-based or other terms).
Is touchwiz so much more than just a launcher?

Thank you - this led me to the right direction. Sometimes you just don't know what is a native Android feature and what is a custom one
Well TW ROMs are touchwiz based ROMs. If you look out for the ROMs repository for the note, you'll notice the categories are TW based JB ROM etc. When u see the name of a rom, if there is [TW] written before it's name, it is a touchwiz based ROM. And touchwiz is not just a launcher. Touchwiz is the samsung customised version of Android like the sense UI by htc.

Okay, I understand better now.
I am assuming that you are a Note user. Can you give me your opinion on the difference, if there are any, between a TW based, or others, beside compatibility of a selection of apps and so. Is there any real, big, important difference?
And one more thing. When the term "custom ROM" is used, is that what is meant by it? A custom ROM is per automatic not the original TW in the Galaxy Note case? Or does it mean something else?
The difference between a TW ROM and a non TW ROM like a CM based ROM is in the features. TW ROMs use the stock Samsung created touchwiz roms as a base and build up on that. So u can find the stock apps and everything else with some customisations. Whereas the CM based ROMs are built upon the CyanogenMod which is in many ways similar to the original Android os available on the Google nexus. A custom ROM is a customised ROM developed by a developer. The other type of ROM is the stock ROM which you get preinstalled on your note. So all the ROMs you'll get on xda are custom ROMs developed by certain developer.

Slim Bean 4.2.2 black Wallpaper

I just installed the latest Slim Bean Rom and fiddled around with the wallpaper. The initial one with the little S in the background was quite nice but then I tried another wp from gallery, which in the end I didn't like.
BUT how do I get the either the stock Slim background back or just a black wp? CM 10.1 has the option to just set a black wallpaper, I really miss that option in Slim Bean. I would've suggested it to the developpers in the official thread for it, but unfortunately I don't have the rights to post comments there...
I found in another thread a pic of the original Slim wp but I can't manage to get it look like it was when I just installed the Rom, any idea apart from reflashing the whole Rom?
Edit: I was able to post the question in the original thread now, don't know what's wrong with the rights management in the forums here...
The dev would probably have to send you the image himself, pm him

Actually you just have to go to themes and select the stock theme, it will also apply the stock Rom wallpaper... but at least I'm not the only one who didn't figure that out
That doesn't work with all roms, depends on how it was made but I'm glad it worked for you

[Q] [CustomRom] Android Settings screen is stuck as 2-column after theme apply

Hello everyone,
I'm using Resurrection Remix rom which is based on CM13, and I don't know where it'd be more appropriate to post about this so I do it here. A while ago I applied a CM theme, which turned the single-column Android Settings show as 2-column. It was ok, but I want it back to single column, and changing back to the original theme doesn't bring back the single column layout. Changing DPI settings doesn't help either. Any other ideas, apart from reflashing etc.? Maybe a config file/entry I can edit?
Thanks!
