In general how is the Battery Life with Cyanogenmod ROMs?, better or worse than the Stock ROMs, like Chroma for example?, thanks
Chroma isn't a stock ROM. Its AOSP. And besides "bad coding", battery life as nothing to do with the ROM itself. Its all about the kernel set up (and they can all be set up the same) and what apps are installed. The biggest drainers are the screen and radio

Right now I'm using cyanogen 6.1 but I'm noticing a lot of battery drain and on my car charger my phone continues to drain even while charging. I don't want to go back to stock because I love features like portable wifi, but I'm a heavy user and I need solid battery life. Any ROM suggestions for me that I can flash through clockwork while I'm at work? Or any ideas on how I can fix the battery on my current CM ROM?
first about the battery life... Got to settings, about phone, battery use. What is eating up your battery? usually display eats up most of my life. Try turning your display down... Maybe you have a rogue app running in the background eating up your juice?
As for ROMS, the stock ROM does have wifi hotspot and USB tethering. Perhaps try the stock ROM for a while and see if that makes any difference? It could be a battery problem/ issue. There is a great app for CM that allows you to see your battery life/wear @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765609
The ROM I have been using is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=714184. It is very close to stock, but has many performance tweaks and such. I use it with this kernel : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=820172. By far the best battery life on any ROM/kernel combination I have tried. Both can be flashed by Clockwork.
Also, when Gingerbread finally gets here, there is a much updated and detailed battery meter installed with graphs. Hopefully it will only be a few more weeks.
Hello all,
since I'm tired fighting with
- the Android OS percentage battery usage (always over 70% with display at 10%);
- the events/0 - suspend processes always ontop of BetterBattery's stats
I'd like to go for a GINGERBREAD aosp rom, with S-PEN working.
Any suggestion? I don't want any of the samsung apps installed since I'm fairy sure they are the ones that are ruining everything.
If you have a solution to lower the Android Os % and events/0 - suspend process' battery consumption, let me know.
I tried these:
- factory reset;
- removing system apps such as samsung wifi sharing. I've seen a thread that talked about removing samsungsuna.apk and others, but I didn't even find them in my system/app directory
- used green power. But seriously, I don't want to use something that limits my connectivity. I want something that lowers the android OS and events/0 - suspend %!
It can't be my brand new (rooted) Samsung Galaxy Note lasting less than the 2 years old HTC Desire. On the second there's flashed an aosp rom, that's why I thought putting ans aosp rom on the note aswell.
Thanks for your answers!
What AOSP ICS rom did you use ?
To get rid of Android OS battery drain, install SetCPU and change governor to ondemand. The default seems to be userspace which keeps a static ~800mhz cpu - and that is what's draining your battery.
As for S-Pen, it is working in ICS. You just need some apps to utilize it.
But if that doesn't help and you want GB - i'd suggest TeamRocket ROM - people tend to choose this one.
Acutally I didn't use any ICS rom, i'm waiting for the official one. By now i prefer sticking with the GB one.
Actually now i'm trying TeamRocket with Franco's kernel (I wonder which is better for battery life, wether Franco's or Abyss').
And about the battery drain: I stayed for long time in Deep Sleep state, but the Android OS was always topping my stats. Installing this kernel, it's not happening anymore, and both events/0 and suspend troubles seem to be gone.
Not sure about anyone else but I've found battery life considerably worse than with Kitkat which I felt had more life. I have tried stock GPE, various Lollipop aosp/cm releases and custom GPE roms, they've all come out worse.
I tend to find of late the battery drain when the phone is in sleep. I can come back to my phone four hours later and 20% has gone. I should check to see if any apps are doing this or whether it's an overall thing with Lollipop.
I have not tried Lollipop Sense roms as I prefer the stock aosp look.
Anyone else find Lollipop worse than Kitkat?

Go-to settings - developer options and uncheck use nu-player, restart your phone and see if the problem remains, if the problem has gone then you have the media bug, I think it's caused by corrupt files in your music and media folders on your internal storage.
batt life
Well, I think this causes some app. I had various lollipop roms and the battery life was slightly better (in my opinion). At night with airplane mode on and wifi off i had drain about 3% after 8 hours of sleep.Try different kernel and some wakelock detector (I use BetterBatteryStats).
Thanks for the advice, will try them all. I am partial to the stock GPE. There are some good kernels for GPE?
For me its ElementalX or Kangaroo, you can find them in original development thread, but be sure you choose the right version (not the sense one)
I too found lollipop worse with GPE vs Sense running KitKat. I wanted Lollipop so I converted my M7 to a GPE with 5.0.2. I didn't like worse battery performance and I didn't like how the volume rocker on the lowest setting only went to vibrate so I went back to stock sense with KitKat.
Well, I have reflashed Santods GPE plus rom, clean flashed. Disabled nu-player as advised and we'll see what happens. Any kernels that are compatable with Santods GPE rom? He has his own kernel so I was concerned about breaking the rom by flashing another.
Would it make a difference in that where I work I have no mobile signal or wifi signal, would it cause the phone in sleep mode to constantly be looking for a signal so that it can connect and download data, thus drain the battery more? If yes, I might try killing the data service while I am at work.
I never seem to get this drainage at home or out about where I get wifi, hotspots and better mobile coverage.
I just installed pixel Experience Rom pie update from the official site. Everything is great. No bugs till now. But battery is draining like crazy. 30% battery drain in one night. Help me please what to do. Should I go back to Oreo? Suggest me any good roms with just as it is pixel experience. I don't need customisation. I need stability.

Use custom kernel, its help:good:
To me it Looks like a standby time battery drain bug, most ROMs suffer through this at some point. One of common bug.
As mentioned above flash custom kernel or consider going back to previous known good Pixel Experience build you have used or you can try turning on battery saver on standby time.
I also had this issue on Resurrection Remix Oreo build and battery saver helped me to save battery on my device on standby time.
I am currently using Havoc OS Pie Latest ROM it also has tremendous heat issue (battery drain of from 30% to 9% in 15 minutes) without even using device.
I like this ROM for it's customizations and stability but heating issue was causing me to stay away from it.
Just yesterday I've clean flashed Havoc OS latest Pie build on latest Rockstar kernel and it's going great.
No huge battery drain and no heating issue and also battery backup is good.
Try flashing latest Rockstar kernel or other your desired kernel if you wish.
I'm Using Pixel Experience ROM (Go) and it's working fine. I'm using Jaguar Kernel.
Find it on 4pda .ru
Here.
Hi, I've noticed that the battery on my Redmi 9t draining faster on custom roms comparing to the stock miui rom
And I've tried many custom roms like Dot os, pixel experienc.......etc , but they all drain battery morz then the stock rom, and i've tried many custom kernels but it still drain battery, so please Has anyone noticed this problem or have been able to fix it ?
Download AccuBattery and check which app is draining the battery. And also check the battery's health.
Some apk's draining the Battery fast, example the Facebook application.
That's the price of using custom roms. Unless the device is quite popular and has a huge fan base working on stuff, you will never get a custom rom better than the original.
i'm using havoc os without GAPPS and no battery problem, such as said, it depend on wich apps you have installed after the ROM
