unable to capture screenshots - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When i try to take a screenshot i get the unable to capture screenshot error. I had this problem before and i just deleted the pictures folder and that fixed it but now whenever i try to delete the pictures folder its wont delete. I even tried deleting the screenshots folder and that doesnt fix it. Does anyone know how to fix this? Im really trying to avoid reflashing factory images

Nevermind. I fixed it. I just renamed the screenshots folder to screenshots1 and now it works

How did u renamed the folder? Using es explorer?

Cannot copy clg_in.gif, clg_miss.gif, clg_out.gif, spd_lst.gif; access denied.

I used a registry tweak to disable the default AT&T dialer and now I want to change out the images. I am having a problem copying clg_in.gif, clg_miss.gif, clg_out, and spd_lst.gif into the \windows directory. I keep getting an access denied error message. I have turned off the phone and did a soft reset, but that didn't make any difference.
I have attempted to replace the files using my desktop computer and File Explorer.
Does anyone have a solution so I can copy over the four new files?
Thank you.
resco explorer allows you to force the copy.
Thank you.

I will give it a try. Thank you.
Update...
I downloaded Resco File Explorer and installed it. I copied the four images to \windows and after confirming the files copied. I can see the correct images in \windows. I did a soft reset but the old images are still showing. I verified that the new images are in \windows. Why are the old images (AT&T crap) still showing?
Thank you.
Bumping = Bad
Sorry to bump my own thread, but I'm fairly confident that someone knows how to correct this problem.

its probably a cache issue, such as if u put a picture on a contact, then delete the picture, the picture is still on the contact.
but, i dont know how to do what you are asking.
You can just flash the rom im sure there are more customizable friendly roms out there.

If your talking about pictures that you only want viewable in something like "Astro File Manager" you could put a dot in front of the folder in question.
For example, for the pictures I have of my GF, i hide it by naming the folder ".GF" and it wont show in Gallery at all... but if you use a file browser like Astro you can view the files by going into the folder.
In Linux, a dot before the name of the folder usually means a hidden folder, hence thats why gallery won't pick it up then.
ive added dots to the beginning of some of the folder, but they are still appearing in the gallery
try using the nomedia file.
connet your phone to your computer, go to the file you don't want pic, music or whatever from create a new txt file open it, save as name nomedia change file type ot all files remove the .txt extention and then delete the first .txt file..
works for me...

so none has a solution to this problem?

well thats what i believe, because i dont know where else the images would be located. f
If you wana hide pic, you can use advanced launcher to just hide the gallery. Images in a zip should not come up in your gallery unless the zip was extracted. I think you my have images in your "download" folder. Just move them somewhere else and they shouldn't come up anymore

Option 1. Restart Phone and let it scan media then check in gallery
Option 2. Copy all contents in gallery to PC and then again copy to Phone.
also (just in case) make sure there is not a file named .nomedia anywhere above the folder your images are in. When the scanner gets to one of these it back out (great for hiding game images & pron).

Screenshot location

Hey! Is there a way to change the default location of the screenshot? I can't use Google photos properly like this, it keeps on sync my screenshot folder.
Tnx.
Screenshot location can vary. For me it's Pictures/Screenshots. I can (and have) disallowed Google Photos from syncing that folder. Where do your screenshots go?
It's going to DCIM/screenshot.
And Google automatically backup this entire folder so, it's a problem for me.

Make a file called .nomedia in the Screenshot folder and sync will ignore it. It will also mean it won't show up in gallery apps.

Did not work, I have created a new folder named .nomedia and the gallery is still showing it.

A file, not a folder. Inside the screenshots folder make a file called .nomedia.
It's a built in method in Android to exclude folder contents from certain apps.

Yeah had to download a new file manager to craft a file, but unfortunately the Google photos is still showing and backup my screenshot, even tho the gallery isn't showing them.

Works fine for me. I made a new folder in DCIM, created the .nomedia file, then copy/pasted in some random pics. Google Photos doesn't see the folder at all.

So you have root? Maybe it's connected to it, this is so weird
You can try pinsyncScreenshot app from play store
Did you resolve this? I have the same issue with my POCO F1 and it's driving me nuts

Sad to say, but I solved it using "Auto File transfer Lite" (Search at google play)
It's not the best solution, but at least is an acceptable workaround IMHO.
Just hope some day Google allows to select DCIM subfolders to sync or Xiaomi to change screenshot folder destination.
Screenshots not showing in gallery
I faced an issue of , screenshots not saving in screenshot folder.but after deleting ' .nomedia ' file from the file manager i could now see the screenshots in my gallery
Guys! U can do one thing. I am also a xiomi user. Move the screenshot folder from DCIM and transfer it to another place. Then u can back up on google photos. It will only contain CAMERA folder images

Help, I cannot delete any image file on DCIM folder including Screenshot folder

Hi, I am running EU version and I just notice that I cannot delete all the images file the DCIM folder nor on the Screenshot folder.
I can delete any file on the other folder but not on the DCIM folder. Can any of you test if you have the same problem as mine? If not then I'm gonna try to reset my phone.
thanks
