I can't even download it because boost mobile rely throttles your data speed down once you hit your high speed limit for the month ?

Sorry. We've removed as much as we can and we still have the smallest ROM that I'm aware of.

Great Job Team YAR
Ok since i am new it wont let me post to the forums But instead go into the q/a.. So team YAR Firstly i just want to say great work on the rom however i few have few concerns and such.... Hangouts is great for sms however some people like the stock sms anyway to reimpliment that in case of someone not wanting to use hangouts as default as that is the only sms that is implemented in the rom. Also battery life is ok not a lot of things to bog it down however for some reason when your in the 3g vs 4g lte battery drain is hell. Is that a common issue when you have a 4g lte phone? Also i took a look through the build prop when i found out this rom has zero tethering capabilities. I turned the values on the build prop to reflect that tething is all in fact on however it does not allow tethering it stays greyed out. I could tether without an issue before this rom using Raptop rom. Im not calling any rom better i feel it is a based on taste decision. But i would like your rom 100% better if it included tethering. Also with this phone and i dont know if it falls the same for all boost variants but the hotspot feature has to do a subscription check to see if you actually paid for a monthly subscription. I did a little digging on the stock rom and found how to bypass it and tether without an issue. But could you please for the sake of other people include tethering with or without a bypass either native or a working 3rd party app. Also is there a way to make more space up because htc and boost did a real job on leaving little to no space and even with links2sd dont clear much up. Could removing some of the launchers help resolve the space issue?..... Sorry for the novel just my concerns

Having issue booting into rom, stuck at HTC also. :0(

Try pulling the battery. When I get hung up like that sometimes, pulling it usually does the trick. Worth a try. Let us know.

Oh yeh, was coming from RaptorRom v2. Cant get voicemail notifications with it and no visual voicemail so hoping to get on DragonRom. Yeh I have to do battery pull when the HTC screen freezes cause the power won't shut off at that point even when held down. The zip says it flashes and installs SUCESSFULLY, so I don't get it.

Sometimes I have to do a "factory reset/wipe" like 3-4 times and then flash the ROM again. Usually, if all is good and I am installing the right thing, doing the right things etc, if boots up eventually. I know it can be a pain in the As* and it gets very frustrating at times, but usually it'll eventually work. Good luck man!!!

Well i dont guess im going to get a reply to my question lol

We didn't implement native tethering at this time. I'm sure its a function well include in a future version.
Per the space issue, Minimalist has literally just about everything we could remove, removed, if we find more things to remove, we will continue to do so. We are already planning our next release, unfortunately there is no eta currently.
As per Hangouts. I think the reason @dragonhart6505 included it is because it functions both as SMS and Hangouts. It's killing two birds with one stone for those that use Hangouts. As always, you can remove anything you deem unnecessary and replace it with your preferred app. I'm not at my computer, but if I remember correctly it is located in /system/app so you'll have to use Titanium to remove it. The kernel is pre-rooted and the write protection is disabled.

Native tethering has not been enabled as of yet, but we will work on including it. I use PDANet to tether via USB and Bluetooth, but its WiFi function does not work on our device. We'll get tethering resolved in a near update.
As @dip_spit said, we removed as much as possible while staying sure everything worked as it should. I am currently tearing through the entire system to find what cam be removed and what should stay. Minimalist is perfect if space is a concern, however you wont get much more than ~1gb on a stock based rom.

We recommend flashing from a Stock TWRP backup and factory reset as other roms appear to be conflicting with the permissions needed by a stock-based rom.
We apologize for the inconvenience and we are working on making DragonRom a fully flashable, self-sustained rom that requires no such system to be installed prior to flashing. It is alot of work getting the permissions necessary for this, so please bare with us.
Ive been late to the thread here as i was unaware it existed. Ive now subbed to the thread and will monitor it frequently

Ty
Thank you i was just wondering spacewise if links to sd would clear much more space if i was flashing minimalist rom and building from there? Also as for the tethering i hope its in your future release because i do tether alot lol and i cant always make use of bluetooth tether. But great job never the less im looking forward to testing anything new. Also i have a stock roms from any carrier as well as build.prop from any said carrier if needed.

first time poster
1st off... absolutely love this rom. I've been running the minimal rom for over a week, almost as soon as it was posted. Most storage space I've had yet on my phone! Any problems I had with initial install have easily been dealt with. The one problem I had from from the install was google play not working, would crash as soon as launched. Was solved by sending new version from my computer to install on phone. After my friend saw the rom, we tried to install the featured rom on his phone which got stuck on the HTC boot screen. This problem was solved by installing the stock backup from this site then installing the rom again. But again we love this rom, Thanks Team YAR!!!

Does DragonROM currently support Link2SD's mount scripts at boot for other filesystems than FAT? Also, how risky would it be to try Xposed at this stage of development?

Xposed works pretty well for everyone who everyone who has installed. Remember to make TWRP backups before you install anything.

Front Facing Camera
**Ok I did a search from camera on this particular thread and nothing popped up, so sorry if someones already covered this but....
Has anyone tested the front facing camera on this mod? I need my selfies brah. Nah! but would be nice to have this back! Yo! My camera? Sweet innocent camera --never hurt anyone.

I think I screwed myself.
I think I really got a BRICK here. Ok, I did something stupid. I flashed the HBOOT trying to get the S-OFF but failed. All I got not is HBOOT and under that it says checking.,... overlaying the word checking are the words Press <POWER> to reboot. And that is it. If I try to boot regularly is hangs on the HTC Logo. Did I just really brick my phone for life???
FYI, device is NOT found using adb or fastboot. Interesting this though, when I did have the nonsense rom up and had this HBOOT issue, I could boot regularly and use flashify to boot into recover. So recover is there I just have NO way of getting to it now. Every since I flash with Dragon, no offence, cause dragon is hanging on me at the HTC Logo. AAAAHHHHHHHUUUGHHH. I just broke my phone, I think.

Unfortunately, I think you did.
Have you tried pulling the battery and then after you put it back in hold the volume down button and then press the power button until it comes on to see if you can get into your recovery application?

WAIT! I'm back in baby!!!! HOOOOLLLLIYYYY MOLE' Apparently the HBOOT IMG was in the form of a zip files that was placed in the root of the SD CARD. As I go into HBOOT, bootloader is trying to upgrade to this zip file.. Once I took the SD Card out, bouya! HBOOT is back. What a scare that was. Still having issues booting into the new flash rom, however. I think i'm done for today though... i'm hanging up the hat for the day.

My phone is stuck on the HTC screen after installing DragonRom through the TWRP. I followed all of the directions. I'm on VM.

wow, where to begin?

Well, I ditched my iphone to try out the nexus one... I just got the phone today and I barely know how to use it stock (2.1). Phone is untouched, brand new from google...
I guess I would like to take advantage of the phones power and more importantly, try out version 2.2.... any advice where to begin, tutorials etc? thx in advance, I will go back to reading this site!
First, get to know your phone. Use it as long as you can before rooting, until you get used to it and EVERYTHING it does. When it starts to get boring, ROOT it! By that time you should know every secret the phone offers!
not a big fan of patience... I would like to learn to root it and play around... but nothing brick like...
2.2 would be nice and anything else people recommend, lol....
thx man, goodnight.

Inside there's a link, follow the Pre-requisites on that link first... and setup ADB first.
ok so set up that ab thing first then follow the tutorials... also, should I have mentioned it is a *rogers 3g phone (att&t)
thx again and goodnight 4 real
If you barely know how to use it stock.... you should probably figure that out before you go around rooting it, flashing custom ROMs, and trying the latest BETA OS release. Once you've got the stock OS figured out and are getting bored with it, THEN root and move on.
Learn how the phone works. This is no iPhone and the settings with this phone are plentyfull. Have in mind that after you flash a Cyanogen ROM for instance, you will have 4 times more settings to play with, hence the advice to learn the basic functions on your N1. But anyways, you will come to a certain point where the GEEK in you wakes up and you wanting MORE..
DO also know that when you want to root your phone, you need to unlock you phone. Doing this will VOID YOUR WARRANTY. I will also advise you to use your phone for a period of time to see that there are no issues with hardware and build of the phone (buttons, dust under screen, trackball not working, not chargin, loose connectors etc etc..), just to be safe. Coz once you unlock it, there is NO going back to lock it again (at this point)
Setting up ADB and Recovery can be the most struggling with drivers and interface but once that is passed and you start using recovery on a daily or weekly basis, is all smooth ride from there. I guarantee you many hours customizing and experimenting with this phone than any other non-andoid phones you have had in the past.. is pretty much an addiction. i have rebooted this phone more the last 3 months than any other phones in my whole lifetime .
Rule of thumb is always have a recent Nandroid (backup done in recovery) before flashing. Flashing ROM's are usually safe as safe can be. Kernels are not risky to flash either, but remember that Kernels are the ones that controls voltages and speed of you Processor and other things, and flashing wrong Kernels can result in non functioning behavious in your OS and worst case, the processor overheating, so know what you are doing when flashing Kernels. At one point you will start trying out kernels because if you are on a hunt for more battery life, the ROM + Kernel combination are the main things that makes this happens.
Then , a last note: I addvise you to NOT update radios if you don't have any problems with the one you have. The Radio's are the one that controls your ability to call controls your phone's antenna and Wi-Fi. If you DO flash radios and happen to terminate the process, i guarantee you a bricked phone. So beware. If you upgrade to FROYO, one of the processes is flashing a new radio. So let things runs it course once in process.
Have fun trying to optimize your phone to last as long as it can on one battery charge...
If you like to begin in Android World you can start from the following blog
nextworldmobile.com. It has reviews of Android Applications that you must put on your mobile plus Flashing Tutorials etc.
Theunlockr.com is a great website for rooting and anything on the nexus. They also have videos

pretty valid points from all of you, thanks very much.... I think I will give it a week or atleast the weekend... once I got in on luck.... maybe I will move on
I do buy and sell phones a lot... might be best to wait and see if there is a way to reverse the process and keep warranty intact first?
thx a bunch.
since the OTA Froyo should be coming in by maybe end of next week, i'd wait and just mess with 2.1 for now

It should definitely be soon, and will give you a chance to have new software and features without voiding your warranty. Win-win :-D

I really recommand to do that exact thing:
learn nandroid (backups )
then play with your 2.1
2.2 will be out before you could have learned everything you wanted from 2.1
thx again, I am pretty excited about 2.2... coming from a 3gs... I kind of thought I would not like my n1.. but I see no problems with 2.1.... I cannot imagine the performance increase it claims.... gonna be sweeeeet.
So, anything non warranty killing you guys recommend? apps/tweaks etc? thx

You can download Launcher Pro from the Market to replace the current home Launcher. It will allow you to have up to 7 home screens and makes everything a whole lot smoother when you swipe between the screens.
sweeeeet tip bro, thx!
i believe that there exists a non-warranty-voiding method of updating to froyo. it's much faster than 2.1, and battery life is also improved.
for apps, there are threads about it but, some that are just pretty darn neat would include:
google skymap
barcode scanner
google goggles
some augmented reality apps would be:
layar
wikitude
for a better typing (rather swiping) experience, get swype. you should be able to find instructions on how to put it on around here, and there is a non-timed release in the apps/themes section
i use 'and explorer' as a file explorer
pandora is a must if you like internet media
google listen isn't bad (although i hear good things about other apps) for pulling down any podcasts you like
and, go give the navigation app a try. it's the bees knees. not only does it give turn by turn directions, but as long as you load the trip while in a 3g or wifi connection, it caches the whole thing, so you can drive through dead zones and won't lose the the path, as long as you have gps signal. plus, it switches to street view to show you the destination, when you get there

yeah, i updated mine via the non-warranty-voiding method, but since i like some of the apps that require root, i had it rooted
to update to frf50 (Froyo) without voiding warranty, you need to download the OTA file and rename to update.zip and place in the root of the SD card
1. power off phone
2. hold down volume down button and press power
3. scroll to recovery and hit power (should take you to screen with an exclamation mark or something similar
4. while holding down power button, press volume up
5. this should take you to stock recovery and you can now apply update.zip from sd card
those may be the correct steps, i don't think i'm missing anything; there's some guide located in the general forum
thx for the app suggestions, I will try them all
as for the above instructions... each site I try to grab 2.2 from.. says it no longer exists? thx

Will rooting the Nexus one/Froyo cause problems?

Guys, I had someone here talk me through rooting my nexus one with froyo and I'm running into some problems but I didn't know if it had something to do with rooting it or not and the reason is, I got it rooted the same day I received it so I hadn't tried those functions before I got it rooted.
I got it rooted so I could buy this program that makes the fonts larger and it required a rooted phone.
Well, today I was going to try to use it as a hot spot or wifi router and when I tried to enable it, it just says error.
Also, when trying to call and talk to people today, they could barely hear me and I had a hard time hearing them (not sure if this was temporary or not because later, although in a different area, it sounded fine).
When trying to reply to some e mail (online email/godaddy) when I clicked where the text/body goes, I could not type anything 'cause the keyboard wouldn't come up. If I clicked in the email or subject areas, the keyboard came up but not in the body text area.
Any ideas?
I guess I could reset it to default settings to see what happens but it took almost two hours to get it rooted so I really would like to avoid that.
Thanks
George
This should be in Q&A!
Not dev related.
To solve your problem:
looks like a bad boot.img for me.
I always had "Activiating Wifi"... "Error" with bad boot.img.
MOD: move to Q&A
Thanks. I wasn't sure about where to put it and thought there was possibly bigger chance of a reply here. Thanks for moving it.
So, considering I have NO idea what I'm doing and someone else helped me, is the answer to my next question short and simple or not?
What do I do about it?
No, I have no idea what a boot image is.
Should I try to get hold of the guy who helped me root it or see if someone else can talk me though how to fix it?
Thanks
George

Im not a Mod, I did not move your thread.
The boot.img is part of a ROM.
But I don't know what ROM you're using, what build (FRF50/72/85B/91) nor the kernel etc.
I cannot tell you more right now.
Just try a new rooter update.zip because yours might have broke your WiFi.
See Cyanogen's or re-flash a pre-rooted rom.
Actually, I noticed it wasn't moved yet but anyway, I think I have the 72 but still, not sure, I'll have to investigate 'cause I like this phone and I would LIKE it to work for me. Especially since I can apparently use it on tmobile and att.
THanks
The hunt continues
George
no rooting in general does not harm your phone or cause problems in any way. however it is possible to mess something up, maybe install something or screw up settings or similar that could cause problems. you can always flash back to factory ROM, or hard reset, to get your phone working again.
even better, since you are rooted, you should be creating nand backups. and anytime something goes wrong, you restore to a working nand backup to a state that you know your phone was working good.
Yeah, now I have to figure out how to do this but thanks for the replies
George

Kyocera Zio M6000 - Android 2.2!!! cricket

EDIT: We now have our own forum section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1060
Please check there to see if there's a relevant thread for any new topics or issues, if not, make one.
---
Well, that last thread went on FOREVER, I thought a new one might be needed.
This is the continuation from the old thread.
The 2.2 upgrade is here with instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11551718&postcount=1067
Important note: The update will officially be OTA, so you don't need to do this yourself manually here. The OTA will be out shortly. The method provided at that link is for the technically inclined.
If it gets stuck on 98% for a while, that's fine, don't worry about it. Just keep it connected and wait, it can take 30min. Not a problem.
And if you lost your Kyocera logo while messing with the boot image, IT'S BACK
I'm really hoping they fixed the boot loader and perhaps we can get Clockwork Mod working on it again, without it trying to connect to Verizon!
ROOTING
The 1-click root that worked for 1.6 works just the same for 2.2
ISSUES
There doesn't seem to be any multi-touch enabled.
Either the accelerometer or compass is broken, both google sky maps and the compass app jitter around A LOT.
Improvements
All around speed increase.
Camera takes pictures in focus and captures when pressing the button rather than 1+ seconds later.
Night pictures have much better contrast.
Gallery scans 8gb card a single time and opens fast all times after.
hehe, I was going to start a thread, but thought it fitting to wait for you to do it.
Perhaps we should muscle xda again for a ZIO section, or at least a cricket android section? o.0
That's why I was asking people to start new threads starting with "Kyocera Zio M6000 - my issue here" so hopefully the general forum would be flooded... That didn't seem to go too well, there are over 1000 posts in the original thread. Can we beat that here?
lol hopefully not. Now that 2.2 is live (somewhat) I think people will now be more inclined to start new zio threads instead of bombarding the most popular one.
I love this update it made the phone everything it should have been from the start. All the great performance enhancements and cool new features are awesome, I cant stop playing with my phone. I think my new favorite thing is the new lock screen, and the slide to answer feature.
any clue what the "kyocerafailsafetool" is? Its a background app.
Unrelated note: Im going to have to get use to the fact that I dont have to push my task killer widget everytime I open/close an app. lol
apps 2 sd
hi i am looking for instructions to do the apps2sd can anyone point me in the direction for that? also i noticed that all the bloatware is back, is it still safe to remove it same as before? and i guess we still need barnacle to have wifi hotspot. thanks!!! so we dont need taskkiller anymore for 2.2?
apps2sd is located in your application management settings -- just click an app and there will be an option (if available) to "Move to SD"
Should be alright to remove all the crappy demo games and bloatware.
Yes for barnacle.
Sweet. I have been at work all day and just got to a PC that I can do the update from. Got it smoothly on the first try although it does take forever on the initial boot up after update.
Anybody remember the directory that the bloatware is in?

anyone find a way to upgrade to the 2.2 for Zio cricket yet? I just now found out that they finally got it out. I was told though that the only way to get it is to take my phone to a Corp store and they have to do it.
I've been searching all over the net for an hour now trying to find it to do myself but with no avail. it's getting very tiring and frustrating cause i don't have a ride to get to the dam store I need to get to for them to do it.
Woohoo !! I got my Kyocera logo back. Took forever at 98%, glad I waited, I'm rolling. I did a factory reset right before the update, but I think it would have wiped everything anyway.

I know, I was super stoked to get my logo back. Perhaps they've changed the way the OS handles factory resets - perhaps not on the recovery partition anymore?

Before I start I'm going to do a system restore on my phone first then go ahead with the upgrade from there. Only problem I'm really having is it's in a WinRaR zip file. Do i have to extract the files in the zip first before upgrading, transfer it to the sd card on my phone and go from there? what I have no clue yet but looking for the answers. problem is I only have till 7:00pm tonight to get it done cause i have to be somewhere at 7:30pm till 9pm.
I would like to have it done before i leave if possible.
apps to sd
ok thank you Spz0 i have got a new 8gb sd card that was the biggest i could find on such short notice, so just format it with the phone and then replace all the files off old sd card to new one ? was just making sure so i dont mess it up. what are some good apps for 2.2 that wouldnt work on 1.6 i have phone rooted with universal androot installed apps are titanium backup, root explorer, quick app cache cleaner, better keyboard, adw ex launcher, andguard, astro file browser, beautiful widgets, dropbox, memory up pro. i have found a place to get apps and install from sd card for anyone that wants to try the apps and make sure they work or are what you want before purchasing them and installing them, just go here http://www.4shared.com/ and use search for apps for android apps you want to try. i then get them from market and pay for them if they work and are what i want. saves me from getting something that doesnt work, and then trying to get a refund from market. ok hope this helps everyone. tommy

[Q] Having problems with Android 2.3.4 on Samsung Captivate

Im having some problems with my phone. I recently rooted my phone with the rom found in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232703
Since i have put it in, I am having a problem with a few functions. The first problem is that i cannot accept phone calls. when i receive a call, a black screen comes up, i get the first half second of my ring tone, then my home screen comes up, it shows that i lose signal completely, then my time/date updates. anyone have any idea how i can fix this?
the other problem is that i cannot see txt messages by clicking on the message itself. normally a black screen would come up with white txt displaying the message, i no longer have that. Thats not as annoying as the answering though haha.
I was probably going to switch back to froyo but it would be nice to get this working
In order to get this rom, i rooted with fugu first, then installed the rom. Thanks for the help everyone

Not knowing too much about this ROM, I would 1st try going back to stock/master clear, and try to reflash it again. If you haven't flashed may ROM's I might suggest a ROM that has some serious traffic to it, most of the bugs will get either worked out or identified really quickly.
I don't mean any disrespect to the dev of this ROM at all, but like I said, if you're fairly new to flashing, go with a ROM that has some time in the trenches
It sounds like a bad flash to me so, I'd reflash to stock and try again

Well, if you want a Froyo ROM, I would ALWAYS suggest Phoenix:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892973 go to page 1309 for the downloads http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17129309&postcount=13082
If you want to use Gingerbread, Mosaic VI:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061203
They are both VERY good ROM's. Phoenix isn't being dev'd too much anymore, but honestly, it doesn't need it. Most deving is going into GB now. If you want GB, give the instruction in Mosaic a good read, they are really clear. Just make sure you understand what you're doing before you do it

No prob! The install for GB is a little more complicated than Froyo. But, most important is read totally before you flash. It'll make your life so less stressful
Also double check what you use to get back to stock. Personally I use Odin 1 Click, but you need to be sure you don't have a specific build number(I dont know which ones they are) Or you could soft brick and need a Jig to get back into Download mode

Logcat for previous "Strange Issue" post.

So I posted about a strange issue with my device lately, when I shut it off, I can't turn it back on right away, I have to wait like, 20 seconds or so before it will show the "Google" splash screen again and boot. My thoughts were that maybe it is just shutting off the screen before the rest of the device ACTUALLY powers off, I messaged someone here on the forums and he told me that very well could be it. I have a logcat here of me powering off the device, is there anything here that seems off or not right? When it comes to logcats, I have no idea what any of this means lol Thanks in advance to anyone who can decipher this logcat.

You can stop there! It's the new bootloader. You can roll it back an older one to fix it.
Does the logcat look suspicious? Or is this just a know thing? Thanks for the reply! I could use all the help!

Thanks! Seems like it does it with the MOB30I bootloader and the N preview bootloader, strange.

Im gonna be honest. You shot yourself in the foot. Any dev that looks at that logcat will not help you due to you having and using lucky patcher. That app will make sure that devs hate you. Sorry man but that is the way it is. Also might want to keep in mind that developers are adding in code that causes issues if it detects things like lucky patcher. Bewteen that and that malware ridden app of ES file manager and your issues could be many.
I will say this. There are tons of system errors all over that log. Might want to start from the ground up and knock out the system errors.

Which bootloader? I am running the latest bootloader from the N preview 3 firmware and when I power off my device, about 2 seconds after the screen goes black, I can then press the power button and it comes on just fine real quick. This is the bootloader that makes the "Google" logo bold. No problems here at all.
And out of curiosity, may I ask why you need to power off the device, and then turn it back on immediately? Why not just reboot your device if your on a custom firmware.

So lucky patcher can cause issues, and es file manager is bad as well? Never knew. I saw that there were lots of errors in my logcat, but not experienced enough to figure out what they mean. Would you advise not using either of these apps then? And with this many issues in the logcat, is that the entire problem? Thanks.
EDIT: I should also add that I'm running the N preview.

Currently using Android N and the bootloader that comes with it, the one that makes "Google" show in bold. And reasoning would be to either boot into my bootloader and recovery, or to switch to another ROM. (I use multirom)
Another EDIT: I flashed MOB30I and formatted my userdata, clean start. I'm gonna keep an eye on my logcats and see what happens, so far, no errors like you saw in the posted logcat. Thanks Zelendel for mentioning all the errors caused by Lucky Patcher and ES File Manager.

No prob. Sorry for the late reply. Just got off of work. Yes lucky patcher is not only hated but worked against. It is one of the main apps that the Privacy Guard commits were made for. Others have code that won't boot the rom if it gets installed.
Es file explorer has gone to heck. Also avoid anything by the Cheetah company. Same issues.
