I used to like it on my DX2, but it kinda sucked on my gnex. No disrespect to the developers, but it just didn't work well on that device. I'll definitely give it a slot on MultiRom though

Yeah, sometimes when ported to other phones its really difficult to fix bugs and its even more difficult if the cm base has bugs too...for the htc design i ported miui to that device but sadly cm base was really buggy and for me almost impossible to fix it

Hello developers.Dont want to be annyoing but I'm new to this devicee and i kinda like it and tried lots and lots of roms for it, and you know that android L/Lollipop is coming soon out, and i want to ask if anyone is gonna like port it to our device because i know some really good developers like the major tonyp and other ones.So if yes i would be really really hyped for it like many other lol
i think that for the reply we have to wait CM12(?)sources comes out,but as i understood in the past our phone is supporting kitkat with a base that starts from ics sources,so we must wait and maybe isn't possible to port, but also for me it will be interesting if the devs can port a rom with lollipop.By the way i was thinking that we are running also some old version of the gapps to make it work with our device due to missing neon support(like youtube or google search for ex.),so don't know if it's possible

We had to wait 3 months for CM11 M1 to come out after KitKat was released, and knowing that Lollipop is quite a large overhaul and that it fully uses the ART runtime, we can expect a larger delay for CM12 M1. And even when it comes out, it will be almost featureless. As far as I know, Lollipop sources haven't been yet released, so we'll have to wait and see.
Second, yes, we are running on old ICS sources, so unless the 3.x kernel becomes super stable so we can use newer drivers, if they are available for our device, we'll have a bad time.
Third, this is a subforum for Development Discussion, so this kind of thread is more welcomed in the General Discussion section or even Q&A.
Keep on modding Other than that, KitKat development has been quite amazing in the last few months, and considering that the O2X is a device released in 2011, we are more than been blessed regarding this device. Ludnica, brate, ludnica.

I like the idea of L for P990. I recently bought a new phone. That spares my P990 for testing full time as I have another phone for regular use. Please let me should you like to test anything, I will happily share the results. The least I can do to aid further development.
Does anybody have any words/rumors about possible CM/AOSP development for the Mi Mix? I love my Mi Mix but I'm really not feeling MIUI at all. Would love to run a CM/AOSP rom on this phone instead. Though being exclusively available in China only really kills the development momentum from the get go. But a man can dream, can't he?

I agree. I want an AOSP ROM android 7.1.
You'll have to be patient and wait it out as the devices is new and overpriced if you want it now.

no kernel sources released by xiaomi, no aosp. it looks like on my previous mi note pro (chinese only device), which took ages to get sources released.
We could get device tree from similar device and build from there but it's gonna be painful and probably we're looking at a half baked product that wouldn't be usable anyway.
In the meantime, we'll wait for the source to be release.
Should be able to pull the blobs from the phone or the build but without the kernel source I'm not sure how to get started. Has anyone seen the kernel source yet?
Xiaomi is usually too lazy to release Kernel sources for devices which don't sell all that much.
They usually release kernel sources for their flagship mass market devices, like the mi5 and also the mid range devices like the Redmi Note and Max as these are officially sold in a few asian markets outside of China.
The low end and the phones mainly intended for the Chinese market are usually left out. Also considering their phones dont support Google officially in the Chinese market, Android version upgrades aren't a priority for them. Majority of their consumers are content with the MIUI upgrages.

Maybe they learn, said this was a concept phone and aren't making many, plenty out there now, and what we're now making a white one, XDA calls the shots, think they don't check this site.
Well, atleast some super moderator in the MIUI forums have confirmed that the Mix is next in line to receive Nougat. So thats there. At the moment, I'm quite happy with the EU ROM. Its bloat-free and has great battery life. I would love to see CM(LineageOS) at one point though.
As much as I hate Apple devices for their closed eco-system, their UI is very polished. I know MIUI aims to look too much like iOS. Apart from the launcher, I dont have problems with MIUI.
And MIUI is one of the better skins on Android. I'll pick MIUI over most other manufacturer skins like Samsung's Touchwiz or LG's UI.

There's no way a device won't get custom ROMs sooner or later it's a developer's dream.
There definitely is a way. If they don't release the kernel source, that's it for anything but modified stock roms.

thats the only custom rom for the mix thus far and they claim that AOSP will be starting soon
In case ya'll didn't know, someone from EpicROM team on MIUI Official Forum mentioned that AOSP development for Mi MIx will start soon.

I don't agree. We got official Paranoid omni and lineageOs, some stock custom rom with mods and some very talented dev into open Xperia device community. This phone has the lastest OS given by Google and enhanced by Sony (aosp source availaable even for 7.1.1).
We will have Android 8 and, with it the new update system... That means more custom rom possibility.

SailfishOS is an absolute deal breaker for me, as you will have to pay for SailfishOS for the Xperia X.
I don't see a reason why I should pay for a OS, which still lacks of features and probably will be released anyway when the xperia x is completly death.
Did you ever try SFOS? The usage is much cooler than
Android. And there will be an runtime env for Android apps.
I don't have a problem to pay for good things. But nobody
forces you to buy an Xperia X or pay for an alternative OS.
And you know, that an Android with Google services isn't
as free as you think?

Their Snapdragon 650 is a good SoC for Development, more, searching fix some errors that Sony let...
The problem is our own Dev here, is very low...

We'll should to port some things from Xiaomi's Phones (Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon and Xiaomi Mi Max), or, fuse our Dev with them Dev for making "bigger" to Snapdragon 650 SoC, at least.

u know that jolla give you the option to compile sailfish x for yourself right? And you know that they need to make money because they paid sony for licenses etc. and have taxes and coworker etc.? It's not like that jolla is a one-man show in a cellar like some others here like to think or are by themself

Sony Xperia X wasn't much of a hit phone anyway it was expensive and was reviewed as a poor excuse for a flagship phone when it was released so nobody even bothered buy one there were better options back then and this phone did not deserve any attention in fact I only bought this phone because it was so damn cheap when I bought it last year. (from a 2nd hand seller for 150$)
I won't expect lots of devs and variety on custom ROMs for this phone, but I'm happy and grateful that we still got great devs here even if there's only a few.

Now, is the "most seller" together to the Xiaomi A1.
With this, maybe we could see something for make to develop even more for this SoC.
Community development is bad, but not the worst. Unfortunately, "Bootloader unlock allowed" is "No" on my phone so I can't use anything community developed/maintained regardless.
IMO it's alright. We're still under cover of Sony's AOSP and various official projects (Omni and PA), and outside of that there are Unofficial LOS and Treble by Chippa_ahttps://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=6994234 and Sjll respectively. Some of those ROMs are usable as daily driver.
Props to any and all developers who have been keeping this phone alive.

So it looks things are slowly moving , and we are able to unlock bootloader and root our devices.
User @auras76 was kind enough to bring as the first ROM available, but I guess I am not the only one looking forward to get rid of EMUI and its poor customisation layer
I hope once firm .173 hits general release we start getting more dev interest, but the goal of this thread is to find out if any dev could be potentially interested (or already planning) to work on a non-EMUI ROM
I can imagine a bounty could be organised for users to support financially this action.

Doubt you will see much development of any major Rom's if there is not a free way to unlock your bootloader as there just won't be that many unlocked devices
I am fully aware of that, however let´s hope that changes if/when .171 FW is generally available and allows bootloader unlock.

If you like custom ROMs so much buy a One Plus phone. Lots of custom ROMs and every custom ROM has bugs. There is no build of any custom ROM that doesn't have bugs and sometimes the bugs on "stable" versions of custom ROMs are so serious they impact the basic functionality of the phone.
If you think I'm exaggerating pick a custom ROM for the OP5, 5T, OP6 or 6T and look at the last several pages of user posts.
They will be users reporting bugs-often very serious ones.
If you pick an OP5 or 5T ROM many will no longer be in development. The last several pages before the ROM was abandoned will be users still reporting bugs that will never get fixed.
And that is on phones that are supposedly very development friendly.
The days of custom ROMs that improve a phone's functionality, speed and stability over the stock ROM died with Nexus phones but if you want to run a custom ROM anyway buying this phone makes pretty much no sense because Huawei is not developer friendly. They don't want owners of Huawei phones to unlock their bootloaders or run custom ROMs on Huawei devices. The same is true for Xiaomi and Samsung phones.
For that matter Google, the company behind Nexus phones which were the most developed friendly phones anyone could buy no longer wants people to use custom ROMs which is why they came up with the ROM certification program and safety net.
Apps that help phone owners bypass safety net are automatically banned from the Play Store. Whatever method Magisk uses to bypass Safety Net gets plugged by Google forcing the developer to come up with a new method that will stop working when it also gets plugged by Google.
The developer behind SuperSu said the writing was on the wall for original Android development several years ago and he knew what he was talking about.
Well, I thought XDA was exactly the place where people "like custom ROMS" and tinker with their phones.
I am coming exactly from OP phone so I know how scene works there.
OP phones are dev-friendly but not many people try different ROMs as Oxygen is probably the smoothest implementation layer of all manufacturers, so there is no need other to change other than fun.
But we are not talking about OP but Huawei here, which is the opposite case. Lousy software implementation, from battery management (see the Powergenie issues threads), to Huawei bloatware, notification handling, little customisation allowed.... So Huawei is not like OP but more like Xiaomi, heavily (not for good) customised Android version. And there might be not many OP ROMS, but check in Xiaomi land... many super stable versions that improve almost any Xiaomi device with AOSP or LOS versions.
As I said, maybe all it takes is to support a dev with a device for ROM release... I know I wouldn't be the only one looking forward to this.
Alright let's clear up what XDA is about.
It's a hub for developers. It's not a hub for people coming in with no knowledge demanding/posting hundreds of threads asking for ROMs for a device which is bootloader locked in most cases. Attitude like this steers developers away from devices because of noob communities. Look at the Samsung community on XDA.
Huwaei is still an infant when it comes to Android so they are learning the ins and outs of what works and what doesn't. Give em a break. They produce amazing devices with amazing technology. Just because it's locked doesn't mean you have to get your nickers in a twist because no one wants to develop for a new company on the Android scene. Give it some time. Maybe someone will come along and get the ball rolling for everyone and find a nice little backdoor in the bootloader and make it possible for everyone. Till then don't hold your breath and stamp your feet. Do your research before you flog out a grand on a device that might not have unofficial development for.
I really hope we can open this device up for more development, what could we do with unbridled access to the NPU, 3 rear cameras and the front 3d point cloud camera array

Had to pop in here to tell you you're completely wrong on that one.
Off the top of my head. No limits xXx for the OnePlus 5, not a single bug.
From Oreo 8.1 anyway.
A lot for devices have ROMs which surpass stock in more ways than one and have zero bugs
Further to my point and @ the OP.
The p20 pro has only seen ROMs because of the last few users / developers who have committed to Huawei/Honor devices and the fact that Honor view 10 ROMs work on the pro, in light of the changes made by Huawei IE: bootloader lock down, you will not see a lot of ROMs at all for your device in fact anyone who wants to root / flash / unlock their phones should not touch Huawei or Honor ever again, maybe (and that's a big maybe) the greedy pair of OEMs will see sense. But I doubt it.
Advice in short, dont buy their phones, I certainly won't ever again. They don't deserve it after what they've done.
