It has been a while since I have had a phone that isnt easily rootable. Ive tried foxfi and anoyher app but neither work. What is the modern day way of enabling hotspot on at&t without root?

This doesn't work for me. It does not allow it and gives me an error message that tells me to contact att.
Contact AT&T and they enable the device for use. Take ten minutes.
I believe it depends on what plan you have. I have the old 2gb plan, don't think hotspot is included.
hmmm didnt' think of that I'm part of a 15 GB family plan that must include hotspotting. I'm really then not sure how you can overcome that att been pretty good at locking features I guess gonna have to wait for a Costome rom to come through Flashfire to do it.

Okay so I took your advice, took 10 minutes and called AT&T. They told me that my plan on my company phone is a unlimited data plan that is grandfathered. So there is no hotspot enabled on my phone. This is why I wanted root acces. But now I can't figure out how to enable it again on this new phone.

Same for me. Unlimited data means no hotspot.
Hi, folks, has anyone come across a post-root hotspot enabler?
CleanRom has a tether enabler add-on. Check that thread in the Development section

So just had to come back and share. Finally activated my wifi hotspot with the grandfathered plan! Take that ATT!!!
The way I was finally able to do it is thru Xtrestolite Deodexed unified ROM. Once I flashed it with Flashfire, hot spot started working!
Love the ROM. Much sleeker, faster and completely debloated.
Just wanted to share.

the rom you mentioned doesn't show support for ATT phone. you sure it works?

ah got the flashfire to work. are you doing anything special to mask the tether activities from ATT? because they can still detect it right?

Did you update Flashfire?
I have just been using it like that. They haven't contacted me yet, so i'll keep using it like normal until they do. I had an HTC that I enabled hotspot with and used it like that for over two years without any word from att. Your mileage may vary...
whenever I used it with my HTC M7 they contact me and warn me they would remove my unlimited plan... maybe cuz sometimes I download large torrents while on travel? haha. how much data usage you use in tether?

Sure just install PDANet from Play store. I used Foxfi first but they recently merged with PDANet. My note is unlocked using T-Mobile SIM and it lets my Note 10.1 connect to internet from work where there is no network access. PDANet asks dor a one time fee for unlimited hotspots.
Hope this helps.

Wifi calling is a t-mobile exclusive as far as I know. You may have some luck with one of these http://www.rebtel.com/en/International-Calling-Guide/Mobile-Apps/Top-5-apps-for-WiFi-Calling-in-2013/

Sprint lied! Wi-Fi calling app is exclusive to T-Mobile and is integrated in the framework on the T-Mobile phone. Therefore can't just be installed on another phone.
Now there are other options like Google voice or another 3rd party app. You can download then off the playstore. They'll allow you to make phone calls over Wi-Fi, but give you a new number as well.

Hey i learned something new today. Sprint did start offering Wi-Fi calling in Feb it was exclusive to T-Mobile for a long time; however he still lied to you because the only phones that are showing capable are the mega, s4 mini, note 3, s4

That's actually pretty impressive (surprised about the s5), but if it's like T-Mobile version it is very integrated into the framework

yeah surprised me too. Good for them to finally get rid of that ridiculous airave.
My mom's Sprint Motorola Nexus 6 has issues with the Airave at our house, which I'm used to. Where we live is a no-service-zone for Sprint (rural Maine) so we have an Airave signal booster. I know that the PRL has to be updated to get any new phones to see the Airave, but I've updated the PRL several times, and it will usually see the Airave and connect for a day or so, then disconnect randomly and require a PRL update. Anyone have any idea of what's causing the phone to forget/change the PRL? thanks

I know there's a lot of speculation after the S7 and S7 Edge where locked on T-Mobile that they know 7 will also be locked on T-Mobile. I've made numerous calls to T-Mobile and to Samsung. In the end 8ts anybody's guess right now. I have had every Note since Note 2 and have ALL been Rooted. When my phone gets delivered in the next hour or two I was wondering if there's any way I can check myself to see if the bootloader is unlocked?
