Hi all,
Fitted my Flex HD protector (front and rear, pics below)... Rear fits great height-wise, but a bit short width-wise, not bad in general though... Quite good at applying these protectors and I got it without a single bubble
Front one though was a different story... It was my first ever wet-protector install and I'm not entirely sure about it. The fit is GREAT! Just not sure how well my actual application has gone...
Anyone installed this specific protector on this phone and able to offer any advice on whether the bubbles shown will work themselves out over a few days as it says they should? Doesn't seem to be any dust below, just bubbles
Thanks!
They'll go away. It took mine two days to disappear. the first day I saw a few and tried to move them out and by the second night I couldn't see any bubbles.
you can always take it off and re-install. The pray that comes with it does not work as well as a small bowl of water with a drop of dischwashing soap. Make sure your fingers are good and wet and they with some practice you should be able to get much less bubbles right away. I am a perfectionist and it took me 4 applications to get it perfect. I had zero bubbles as soon as I was done and it took about 1 day for the excess moisture to dry for a perfect application. No hair, dust or bubbles. Surpirsingingly, I really like how this SP feels on the phone, and I always have used tempered glass.
The good thing about a wet application is that you get second chances, unlike glass (at least i my experience)
good luck
Mine looked the same as your's OP, by the end of the night most of the small bubbles were gone. Really hoping the rest of them work themselves out over the next few days. Most comments I've read say they do, so I'm optimistic as I am a perfectionist as well. Can't stand the sight of bubbles or blemishes in my screen protector.

I see the orange peel effect and i have ordered this screen protector does the effect go away over time? is it a matter of stretching as much as possible during application with the card?
Thanks all
It seems that after about 12 hours it is looking a lot better, not quite perfect yet though
I also see now there are a couple of bits of dust (I made the mistake of putting it back down on the sheet after taking it off initially to clean the screen again)... Surprisingly though the bits with the dust aren't the worst bubbles, in fact they're not very visible at all
Will give it a few more days then maybe post some more pics for people to see what it is like
It took mine about a week for all the bubbles to work themselves out, but now that the did I can't even tell I have a screen protector on my phone. Really happy with the front protector!
I'm gonna have to redo it as it has dust from when I put it down
But yes the bubbles in general surprisingly are sorting themselves out
Anyone think their screen looks slightly yellowish hue after installing this? I don't recall how mine looked before so I'm really hoping this is so and it's not my actual screen. If it's my screen then I will be exchanging if because it's quite irritating. And it's perfectly white when I hold the screen at an angle instead of dead on.

So anyone notice the screen looking yellow after installing this?
I would simply take mine off and determine that way but then I would have no protection afterwords. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

After 2 days, all blemishes and bubbles are gone. I've had several people say they had no idea there was even a screen protector on until I told them. It feels like glass and doesn't have that rubbery feel to it like how some other "wet" application screen protectors feel. I also don't have any discoloration due to the screen protector either. I can honestly say I love how it looks.
I was very skeptical at first since this was my first "wet" application screen protector. I've always used the one and done "dry" application ones. The application process was very nerve racking with all that "solution" on my phone, and trust me I was with everyone else with how my phone looked initially. But after letting it settle for a few days, I can say I'm glad I went with this screen protector that wraps from edge to edge versus going with one that only covered the top of the screen. I highly recommend it to anyone on the fence :good:

YMMV, some people here claim it goes away but I frankly don't believe them. The orange peel effect is there and in full force even after a week. There's even a bubble that will not go away even though there is no dust underneath. I'm returning this one ASAP and I recommend against anyone buying it.

I don't think this is brilliant. Those "bubbles" don't look like they'll disappear. Looks like a defective screen protector. Did these ever go away? Wonder if others had the same problem and it is a result of a faulty batch

Here's my phone with the FlexHD on after 3 days
And I thought I did a good job. You sir are a master at installing liquid install protectors. If I were to place my phone next to yours it would look like ****, although I did install mine in the car, outside of best buy, on my lap, on a rainy day with no light, because I didn't dare put the phone in my phone or any where else for the drive home.
Oh well, good thing it came with 2 protectors. Can always try again.

First off, hi guys - new HD2 (Leo) owner here and have to say I love it!!
Anyway, thought I'd just say something about this product. It's rubbish...
Poor fit, didn't stick properly and bubbles galore - stay well clear of it IMO
Anyway, will be lingering about as still getting my head about WinMo and the various ROMs about - still running stock 1.48 ROM out the box but it's an awesome phone and definitely glad I got it...
Well my friend, for a first post it's a good point well made. The HTC screen protectors are ****e! I managed to lay mine without bubbles, but at the bottom where it fits over the buttons it keeps lifting up and just doesn't settle properly. It's now starting to get crap underneath it, completely defeating it's intended purpose.
Final verdict... EPIC FAIL!
Oh and Welcome to XDA Developers EddyOS. I'm sure you'll be a flashaholic in no time.

Did yours come with a screen protector in the box? I didn't see one in mine but I may have overlooked it, or different packaging in Asia. So tomorrow I'm on a hunt to find one.
I dont recal there being one in mine either. Hmm maybe i should look alittle harder.
Maybe they ordered the original OEM ones from HTC as a side-order!?
I did, and mine are in the mail.
Should arrive tomorrow...
Hope they are not as bad as stated in this post...
Will be sure to comment on it here when I get them
Yeah, bought mine from the HTC Shop - didn't get any in the box...
Ordered mine too... complete waste of money
I got the official ones too, I thought it was me just fitting it badly as it didn't seem to fit the screen and had bubbles. I couldn't get it to sick below the buttons either. It had to come off. I got another one from Amazon and it now fits as I would expect it to.
I would not recommend the official protector from HTC, sorry.
What ones did you get in the end? Might be tempted to get one to be on the safe side but my phone does stay in it's pouch when not in use...
Why would you need to have a screen protector......
If you guys have been hiding under your bed sheets then its time to wake up.
Leo, AKA HD2 had a scratch resistant glass and not a cheap plastic face.
Just have a look at the following link and you will agree....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcEaehKWr2s
you need guts to do it, but i didnt have the guts to do that.
But atleast the screen protector is not needed.
Of course a screen protector is needed. It may be made of glass, but it's not bullet proof glass!

This is the one I went for from Amazon. Fits much better than the official HTC one as it sits just slightly within the screen profile rather than exactly the same size. I have a 100% fix now.
But as one of the posts above points out, we shouldn't really need a protector on it because it is scratch resistant, but I go for peace of mind.
GUYS!
Please stay away from HTC screen protector. It is the worst screen protector I have ever had. First of all it is almost impossible to apply correctly, I had 4 and scrapped every single one! (just to say it is not the first device with big screen I tried to apply screen protector and I never had troubles before). Second thing is that it gets very smudgy.... for me complete waste of money.

Completely aggree with you. I also waste 3 of them. finally a give up!
Not recomended!
My HTC screen-protectors arrived today...
And I have to admit, I didn't really believe the people writing about how bad they were.
But I have to aggree, what a piece of s***!
I got 2 in the pack, and the first one messed up on a biblical level for me.
The second one actually seemed to fit as intended, but I just couldn't get the corner to fit right...
I got away with no bubbles underneath, but the damn corner just couldn't fit.
We're talking a matter of milimeters here...
Stay away from them, like everyone else is saying
I'll join the chorus.
I ordered a pack of 2, and quickly noticed that they're very different from the (actually quite OK) HTC HD protectors.
The adhesive side seems to attract small particles from the air within seconds. Just one such small particle produces an ugly bubble. I don't want to be seen with such bubbles. My wife would call be "Bubble Boy".
Since the adhesive is quite strong, it's impossible to make minute adjustments the moment a part of the protector touches the glass. This is compounded by the exact measurements - even when I thought it fit wonderfully on one end of the screen, the other end collided with the screen bezel, making it a bust.
The protector is also very thin and flexible, so it is almost impossible to hold without bending and getting fingerprints underneath, further ruining its appearance.
This product should be retracted from the market. I completely understand why the HD2 doesn't come bundled with these protectors:
1. they're practically impossible to fit
2. the HD2's glass doesn't really need it
I'll live hard and fast, without protection.
What for?
My HD2 is rocking along very nicely without a screen protector... with this scratch resistant glass, I really didn't see the point.
I avoid putting my phone in the same pocket as my loose change or my keys - but that was a pretty easy adjustment to make.
... Just don't see what I'd want to use a screen protector for other than to take a beautifully slim piece of art look like something it's not.

I don't see how applying a screen protector that's probably less than 0.5mm thick will ruin the look of the device.
Its about personal choice
Screen protector or no screen protector? Condom or no condom? Safety glasses or no safety glasses? Its a matter of choice linked to a a personal assessment of risk, cost and benefit.
I always use one........

It's not "needed". It's scratch resistant glass - we have discussed this here before. It's the same type of glass you get with better watches. Do you use them with a protector? If you "want" damage the glass you can do this with force, but then a screen protector wouldn't help neither.
Hi there.
As the title reads I got a 3mm long scratch on the display of my galaxy ... the scratch distorts the colours, so it's quite annoying once you notice it (and it's particularly annoying on brighter backgrounds) ... I have absolutely no idea how it happened, as I am using a bag for it all the while it's in my pocket to prevent it from getting scratches...
Soo, my question:
Is there anything I can do to "fix" the scratch?
Once scratch happens, then it pretty much stays there.
Sometime a screen protectors can help hide the scratches make it less noticeable. Other than that there are no way to fix it I suppose.
Good screen protector hide all scratches.

Please don't try this at home!
If the scratch isn't too deep then you may be able to polish it out with some wet/dry sandpaper.
But you may damage the touch screen if you go too deep.
Sent from my AWESOME Galaxy S
For ****s sake DO NOT take sand paper to the touch screen!! what kind of advice is that?
once scratched, that's it. if it really annoys you, you'll have to replace the screen.
Wet/dry sandpaper is how a clear coat is polished on a car. As I said if it isn't too deep then it's an option. What you are saying is that you are screwed anyway and have to replace it. If the OP is already at that point of frustration, then they could at least try before having to replace the screen.
Last resort before accepting your screen is stuffed?
At first I also thought what a silly idea to use sand paper on glass.
But after googling the web and quick research, it can be done!
Using high grit silicon carbide wet/dry sanding paper can remove scratches from glass.
Though, I wouldn't try it my self but thanks for the pointer.
here are an example of what can be done:

Screen protector I would recommend to hide the scratches is the Zagg invisible shield.
It is made of polymer that kinda adhere to the screen very tightly help smooth over scratches and make them less noticeable compare to other brand.
BIG BIG DISCLAIMER:
Zagg invisible shield is NOT for everyone. The polymer material can feel sticky and a bit soft. So be warned, it is a love hate relationship when it comes to zagg.
Well i got 2 scratches one is 5mm long the other is 8mm. Fortunately they are on the far right side, close to the bezel, so they don't really bother me at all.
You got only one small scratch, that's nothing
Even that i had the first scratches on the second day i owned the device i will still not make it look ugly with some silly shield. Im expecting a year out of this device, and don't care if it's scratched when that year is gone.
If you change your mobile phone every year then I can understand.
However, my mobile phone lasted me at least 2-3 years each. My previous two was XDA O2 > Samsung Omnia i900 and now Galaxy S

I noticed that the (super) AMOLED displays are relatively cheap in comparison to the traditional LCD screens that you can find on for example the HTC's. Here in the Netherlands I found a company that will repair/substitute a Galaxy S screen for 100 euro. (Compared to 250 euro for a HD2 screen) And I didn't search that hard. I bet that there are companies that do it for less.
If other solutions doesn't work for you, google the internet and look what the prices are for a new display in your neighbourhood. Maybe its much cheaper than you thought.
That's beyound any logic.
OLED/AMOLED screens are more expensive than LCD screens, 250$ for the HD2 screen is an overly blown-out price, you can find screens on ebay for less than half that price.
About sandpaper and whatnot- Yeah, high-grit sandpaper is a way to polish out scratches on glass.
I won't ever try it on the SGS, since i don't know where exactly is the digitizer layer.
You won't really need to replace the OLED screen, its the capacitive touch screen layer that needed to be change.
For my omnia i900, I have plenty of scratches on my screen and I replaced the touch layer at one of the local store for less than 40USD.

aren't the touchsensors build in the screen itself? If I remember it well is the biggest advantage of super Amoled that it doesn't have a touch screen layer.

Indeed that is the case. The SAMOLED screens have the touch technology integrated into the screen so you will have to replace the entire screen.
But someone found 100euros for a replacement in Holland... can you post a link to that? Seems like a good backup to me.
If its not insured, then get it insured and claim the repairs of the insurance. Accidental damage should cover it.
outch, didn't know. best keep it scratch-less then.

From eHow:
Use Coca Cola to remove small scratches. Apply a small amount to a soft cloth and rub the scratches. Re-apply until the scratches are gone. The citric acid and carbonation in the soda help clean and remove small scratches in some items.

I am a Best Buy employee so should be no issue with getting an exchange. Looks like we have one of the 64GB AT&T ones in stock. Gonna be there bright and early to get mine exchanged.
I would advise everyone to keep an eye out.. I actually didn't notice it this morning. Around 6pm I noticed a black part on the screen and thought it was a glitch, so restarted but it was still there.
The line on the right side is just my temporary screen protector film. LOL. I bought an Invisishield and will install it on my replacement device tomorrow.

Did you go with the regular or HD InvisibleShield? I'm not a big fan of their new alcohol swab method for activating the adhesive on the HD model. I ended up using left over spray from several previous InvisibleShield installs.
When I used the alcohol swab provided, it just left lint embedded in he adhesive and I ended up with a bunch between the glass and the screen protector. I saw it before I even began to squeegee, so I broke out the spray and went old school. Turned out perfect after that.
InvisibleShield really screwed up this new application method because it leaves no room for error.

Yeah, thanks for affirming that. I'm pretty sure they did the whole thing as a huge cost saving measure. It damn sure wasn't an improved method to install.
If you compare the savings between the difference in cost for the little plastic liquid spray canisters they provided and the supposed new and improved cheap alcohol swabs, Zagg just made out like a bandit.
Their packaging and marketing keeps getting better and better, but their quality and service keeps getting worse and worse.

I knew as soon as I saw that piece of crap alcohol swap that the new method was flawed. ZAGG has lost their damn minds!!
The whole point behind getting these types of screen protectors on right is to get them and your fingers sprayed down really good. Once both are pretty much soaking, I pinch the protector between my finger and slide off excess fluid which in turn takes the lint/dust with it. Then I spray just a bit more on and apply it. I get it aligned and squeegee. While you are squeegeeing (is that a word?) and you come across a bubble that isn't going away, it isn't a bubble. It's lint/dust. Simply lift the protector at the edge and spray or apply some additional soapy water with your sprayer or fingers and get it out of there. Carefully fold the screen protector back so as to not allow additional lint/dust to get under there while you were dealing with the last one.
I don't try to use the squeegee to get every bubble. I just get most of the water out. Once 90% of it's gone, I work the edges with my fingers and around things like home buttons and camera lenses and sensors.
I guess my point is, even though their new instructions call for the use of the new alcohol swap, the old soapy water trick works perfectly fine. Actually, better.

Looks pretty good to me. If your trying to get it closer to the edge, all I did was continue to work mine while it was still wet. Just a little at a time while I was working the water out from the center of the screen towards the edge.
Good luck man. Like I said, I think it looks great as it is now.

Also even with no Zagg. I noticed some screen blemishes. Like it seems cloudy in some parts. I put brightness all the way while I was wiping it down to prepare the Zagg install. It's very noticeable. I may need to get my phone replaced again smh.
That completely sucks to hear about the cloudiness issue. I haven't heard of that one yet. I've heard of the swirls, scratches, and whites appearing yellow issues, but not the cloudiness.
I would lose my mind if I had to take a phone back twice for a screen related issue. It's probably not as big of a deal for you since you can do it while you're at work so to speak, but when your spending a grand on a phone, you just don't expect to have to take it back two times to be replaced.
Switching gears back to the bubbles in the Zagg. If you turn the screen on and they are barely noticeable, but with a slight prism light effect to them, you're fine. They'll dry up and be gone in hours.
If however you turn the screen on and see a shadow, it won't be going away when it's dried.

Yeah the Zagg is good enough for me.
And yeah I can see the cloudiness when scrolling on a white page in Chrome. I really don't want to have to exchange it again but may have to if it is really annoying me over the nextra few days.
It's like gray smudges going diagonally on the glass. I can't tell if its on the actual amoled panel or glass.
i have dead pixel on my Galaxy S6 Edge Plus
got the dead pixel after 4 Months using the phone.
how did i get a dead pixel??? i don't understand.

seem's very small
do you think i should repair the phone?
I need some help. I wan to buy a screen protector or a tempered glass cover for my Moto Z play. It already has a few small scratches over its screen and I would like to prevent more. So please give me links to some which buy online in India. I did found some but the reviews made me doubtful, particularly the fact that some part of screen is left uncovered. so please help me.

The gap is necessary.
I think all 3 Zs can use the same one, a theory of mine, not yet confirmed.
Look at the other forums.
I too am ready to buy.
as i compared tempered glasses on ebay for Z and Z Play, the difference is upper part - they both have flash and front camera but switched between models
Crap I am looking at selling my Moto g4 plus and buying this phone. Are you guys saying that this phone doesn't like tempered glass screen protectors and doesn't have a bumper case that is compatible with the Moto mods?

Incipio and Verizon (in the US) do a bumper case you can use with Moto Mods.
I use tempered glass, just that the edges are beveled and it will show a slight 'edge'. Same for other glass protectors.

Would you mind linking the tempered glass screen protector please? Based off what I am reading in the other threads it looks like the screen protectors take away a lot of the screen responsiveness.

I picked up a pair of Omoton brand tempered glass for $8 on Amazon. They are "meh" at best. First one I missed a spot of dust mid screen, tried to pull to reapply, and cracked the corner. Not totally unusual. Second one went on clean, but had 3 big bubbles - worked their way out after 3 days. Because of the 2.5d taper of the device screen, there's an unattached "ring" around the edge of the screen (maybe 2-3 mm wide) where the protector doesn't fully attach. Screen responsiveness is mildly diminished - rarely causes any serious issue, but missed touches/swipes do happen.
Tempted to pull and run naked, but it's tolerable for now and I like the added protection, since I don't have insurance.

Two pack. Screen responsiveness seems fine, and I'm happy that the screen is safe.

Does anybody know if there is a tempered glass privacy shield for Z Play? Like the ones that prevent people from seeing the screen when they look at it in an angle.

I just got my Sparin screen protector on my MZP, and I couldn't be more satisfied. It's a perfectly molded glass screen protector, and comes with a top notch installation kit and tools. Patience and applying in as dust free place as you can find are key.
I didn't even have bubbles to work out after applying, and the edges stared to stick after just a few times of pushing on them.

I was able to pry mine up, wipe off and put back on. Lol
Update l rinsed sticky side with distilled water, any caught under glass goes away in a week or so
Thanks to those of you who suggested the sparin screen protectors.
Got mine a couple days ago, and installed today. Definitely a slightly smaller coverage area than the Omoton I replaced. The sparin does give me a halo of unattached edge still, but it's smaller than the omoton, and most importantly almost nonexistent on the bottom edge - so hopefully won't hook on my pocket and peel up like the omoton.
Nicely packaged, good install kit. Install went fine - 2 good sized bubbles toward one edge initially, but they both worked themselves out after a couple hours.
Screen sensitivity is a little better than with the omoton protector, but still slightly diminished from naked.
Overall, would buy again.

I have just receive the second one.
Good:
- no halo effect.
Bad:
-Does not fit properly, the black part at the bottom is to big and it covers the screen
- Camrea and flash holes doesnt fit either, I had to sacrifice a tiny part of the flash in order to have the camera visible (not a big deal, flash works with no problem and pictures look good)
Here is a picture using a game as reference, on the right part, you can se I have 1228 coins, but in fact I have 12280 so... well a part is lost.
As you can see I tried to place the glass as closest I could to the bottom and you can also see the camera and flash holes, that part its really making me nervous because I really need that to be centered (despite it works great). I have a problem with that, maybe I´m crazy
Well.... for 3-4 euros I paid its not that bad but this glass its not for Z play. I dont know If someone tried on a normal Z.
oh! about the "feeling" its not as soft as naked or using the omoton but its OK (Im just an average user maybe someone find it worst than OK).
I wanted to try the sparin one but here on Spain I cant find it, only Omoton.
Sorry if i made any grammar mistake (I´m still learning! )
EDIT: Added game screenshot so you can see how much screen is lost, not much to be honest and now the navbar looks smaller! (you can see 100% the buttons and its fully operative, maybe this should go the "good" part )
Thats something I really miss from gravity box, making smaller the navbar, the centered clock and the traffic monitor. Im 100% stock right now.
@drvoje : Did you tried the first screen protector you mentioned? how does it look?

Like like that screen protector was made for the Moto Z/force, which have different bezel sizes on top and bottom than the Moto Z Play.
sorry for late reply, at that time that was best protector because it covers most of the screen and its not that expensive... i said that is made for z forse but it can fit at z play (ofc they are not same phones and its not 100% perfect but still better option then most of protectors - which have whole mic/speaker side opened)
now for camera glass protector, first of all i want to say when you install it it stays flat, you will never even notice its there
but when i installed it, dust was bellow and i did not do it right on first try, so now when i take pictures with flash turned on they become white...
now i ordered 2 more, and im expecting them to come soon, so i will install it again and i will let you know
there is no point to send you pictures because you will never know its there on camera
UPDATE for screen protector: I oredered this one, seems like best option:

anyone have any experience with them or any tempered glass they'd recommend (especially one thats compatible with the ringke fusion)

I'm convinced there is only 2 or 3 manufacturers and they just put the glass in different packaging.

Zaggs tempered glass revision 2 has been on the money. I've placed this thing on twice. Once when I got it and, the second time, I removed it from my old unit after a screen burn-in replacement, and place it onto my new unit. No air bubbles and the glass feels high quality, comparable to Whitestone sans the complex installation. It sits on the screen only slightly curving to the edge, and it does sit flush without interfering with the edge tab if I choose to use it. It is quite expensive ($50) but imho, it's quite worth it after successful installation. Highly recommend it!

While I agree with you that it goes on nicely you didn't mention that since it doesn't cover as much screen as other protectors and also has black side bars you get a weird effect where there's screen, black bar, rest of the screen which is quite annoying.

yes there are black borders around SP which the top and bottom part aligns with the phone borders, so no issues there. Depending on an individual's taste, the side borders may be of concern. However, I made no mention of any weird effects as a result from the blk borders and / or the edges not being fully covered because I haven't experienced any negative effects thru general use of the phone. I must also mention, that in some apps, i.e. flipboard the first letters of words that display close to the edge of the screen may be partially blocked by the SP borders. But for me that's not a problem, as i don't experience this issue with most of the apps I use on a daily basis.

No I agree with you, I just thought people should know in case they're looking to purchase it. Like you said, 50 dollars is a lot for a SP especially if you didn't know the bars did that and it bothered you. I'll be keeping mine on until something better comes along, if ever.

i have tried these, good product in terms of clarity and touch sensitivity. the issue i had was that the vertical edges would easily crack with a bit of pressure as they dont seat on the screen as well as they should.
my current solution for using these is to remove the adhesive backing and reapply with loca adhesiveand cure with uv light.

Tested these a month ago. Cracked two working out bubbles. Glass quality is very bad. One cracked on the right side. The other on the bottom using a fingernail to work out a bubble. No chance that this is good 9h tempered glass. Opened a dispute and got both refunded. My opinion, not recommended.
Not recommended too, to narrow, covering edges with black bars completely.

Not recommended too, same bad glass like the one posted and cutting display on the bottom

ok so i purchased one and it arrived yesterday
while applying it i got some dust stuck under the protector, tried to take it out but it wouldnt move
applied it anyway and its pretty good except for the air bubbles near the curved sides of the screen (and the dust particles)
the protector is really fragile too, it chipped and cracked a corner while working out the bubbles - others have complained that theirs cracked for no reason
other than that it actually feels amazing and is compatible with the ringke fusion
ive contacted support, hopefully theyll send me out a new one
I wonder why they disabled comments in their video?
What's the best between this one and Dome Glas ?
I don't like the cut around speaker - face camera ...
A real full cover for front face is the most beautiful but may be not very good for quality of face camera ???
